  1. Profit with WCing? No. Profit with other skills? Yes. Yeah. Woodcutting and fishing are both very poor skills for making money, especially in the current economy. So with either skill, you're more or less universally better off going for faster xp rather than slowing yourself down as much as 25% to try and make some mediocre profit. Just kill dragons or something later.
  2. Sell them. Clean them first if you like.
  3. Assuming you mean a Full Slayer Helm/Hexcrest, yes, they do.

If I want to fight for your spot, that's my choice. If you want to stay and try to keep it, that's your choice. And if you hop into a world where I'm training, you have just as much of a right to fight with me for the spot. Why does it matter who got there first? What matters is that right now, there are two people in one spot, and either player can choose to hop worlds. So either deal with it or you can leave. I respect your right to rant about it if you must, but I'm afraid I can't muster much sympathy for you.
  5. You mean like the puzzle from Within the Light? I actually found that to be the best quest puzzle to date: you needed to have a good understanding of the mechanics and what your end goal was but it was condensed to one area and easy to control. The Temple of Light is just too big (Not to mention the agility obstacles) and the controls for EMIII were just god awful. On topic...I enjoyed both articles this week, keep up the good work! Agreed, Within the Light was easily one of my favorite puzzles. Wish the reward was better.
  6. Thanks! I should probably get to work with dungeoneering weps as well. I won't include them in a major part of the guide as they take a very, very long time to get. Hey, why not? You included Bandos and 3a mage ammy, right? Arcane necklaces are a must, though.
  7. Remember to switch to agility pots when you have the level to use them instead; they're significantly cheaper than pies. RS Wiki says it only affects combat stats. Is that an error?
  8. Monkfish and cavefish are actually pretty close in terms of both xp/hr and gp/hr. Sharks are not even in the same league, though--they're terrible all around. (Same with lobsters or swordfish.) You may be interested in the Runescoop fishing optimization guide, which will calculate the most efficient fishing method for you based on your fishing level and your income.
  9. With Soul Split and Turmoil you'll have no trouble killing them quickly and easily, and with a Pack Yak you'll have no trouble banking the bones for profit. So you shouldn't have much reason to keep them blocked anymore.
  10. It's the same as Mind, but with summoning defense.
  11. The Penance Horn from Barbarian Assault and the tools from Stealing Creation are good examples of using "fun" methods to get more efficient experience.
  12. I would agree that, for those using guides, the EW3 puzzle may have been harder than the Temple of Light. However, without any aid whatsoever, I have to say that understanding how to manipulate the light beams is much harder than grasping the mechanics of this sliding puzzle. It helps to think of it not as a 3d slider but as a slider with two unique pieces that must be present in specific places as part of the final solution. Actually, since other sliders have all unique pieces, I'd say the difficulty comes not from the third dimension but from the differences from regular sliders (method of moving pieces, move counter, obstacles). To bring the puzzle part of the prestige to the Quest Cape, Jagex has to create puzzles like these two where the starting position is randomized. A player therefore has no way to follow a step by step guide but must understand the workings of the puzzle. That ups the difficulty for a lot of the people that stormveritas mocks while keeping the same level of difficulty for those who already struggle without guides. Mod Dylan's response: Source
  13. Two reasons why slayer is good: 1. Unique monsters that are awesome (such as strykewyrms). 2. 15% boost that is awesome. Slayer can also promote good habits by encouraging players to kill things like abby specs that have very profitable drops, and encourage variance by allowing players to efficiently kill things they wouldn't normally fight, such as gargoyles. The reason slayer isn't the best at anything is because it combines the best of everything. You can always get fast charms by killing waterfiends, fast money by killing dragons or spectres, fast xp by killing...things with high HP and low defense. The thing with Slayer is that pretty much all of Kuradal's tasks have at least one or more of those qualities, except that you also get a 15% boost and slayer points on top. Because you're not doing just one of the three all the time, it's not the fastest for pure charms, pure xp, or pure cash. But as a whole it's probably the most efficient overall for all of them combined.
  14. Actually, we DO have a problem with inflation. The problem is that cash is absolutely worth nothing. That seems like a big problem to me. A game based around making money, because money revolves around everything in RS. A game where money is the answer to how good of a player you are, because with money you can level up faster. And money is completely useless, and you're forced to use junk items and street price just to play. Money is worse less than it used to be in the past, but prices are perfectly stable and there are no real issues at the moment.
  15. We don't actually have any issues with inflation right now, so what's the point of trying to remove cash from the economy? It'll just make things worse.
  16. Considering that you can't chop very many magic logs in an hour, I think so, yes.
  17. Hehe, I wrote a simple program that makes windows of my choice transparent and click-throughable for exactly that. It makes my movie windows transparent yet still ontop of RS, while I can click through the movie to RS to click fishing spots, bank, etc. Lol. That's what the second monitor is for.
  18. There aren't really any costs to cover. I'm not sure I understand the question.
  19. Rocktails are by far the superior choice. The difference in speed between the two is within 5k xp/hr, while the difference in profit is nearly 300k gp/hr. Missing out on that money for only 5k xp is equivalent to paying almost 60 gp/xp to level your fishing, which is more than twice as expensive as leveling herblore. Definitely not worth it! If you valued your time enough to justify that kind of expenditure, then you'd have a very hard time justifying Shilo over heavy rod fishing, wouldn't you? There is no value of time where you could efficiently choose fly fishing over both rocktails and heavy rodding. The only real choice is between the rocktails and the sturgeon, and that depends on a combination of how you value your time and how high your agility is (because agility xp is more valuable at lower levels when training is slower normally).
  20. Seems like the best helmet for camping waterfiends. You don't need defense besides magic defense, and if you aren't praying, you're probably doing it wrong. Granzi, how do they compare with Turmoil, Soul Split, and Berserker simultaneously? Since the halo only works on Turmoil and not the others, that could be a significant issue.
  21. Faster than what? It's definitely faster than chopping magic trees, if that's what you mean.
  22. I'm not a big fan of summer pies, but Agility Potions are ridiculously inexpensive, so I'd use those at Gnome once you hit 82.
  23. There's a pretty famous rant started by an equally famous member, compfreak847. I always knew him to be right up there with the super analytical types like zaaps1, bladewing, and morionic. Some of the arguments he's made are a little outdated with the release of new items and such, but it's a good read. 80+ pages of replies also says something too. Slayer Sucks But unlike zaaps1, bladewing, and morionic (atleast i think so) comp didn't like slayer at all. If you like slayer or plan on training it AT ALL, its a good decision to train slayer while at a lower combat so you don't end up wasting time getting maxed melee before slayer. Some people might say its better to get maxed then do slayer, but thats up to the person. Nah, compfreak admitted that slayer was one of his favorite skills. But the rant is still obsolete now with additions like Kuradal, her dungeon, and task-only strykewyrms making slayer significantly faster and more competitive (compared to camping) than it used to be, particularly at higher levels.
