A REAL Solution to Price Manipulation
Try the "hide" option next time. I'll respond in the same order as you have responded. 1) You are missing the point. First off the offence is not bannable and if it was, people would still do it until the root of the problem is solved. That was my point. 2) No they aren't manipulating. They are merchanting with the means granted to them by the game. Get your facts straight. 3) Read #1. 4) The general consensus did. Are you not reading? 5) I'm not comparing trading to pking. I'm comparing the ideology both are based on, that ideology being that a group of people coming together will always be better than a single person. (Why do I even bother responding  ) 6) No comment, other than at least I have a standpoint. What's yours? Other than being a suck-up. 7) It's not your game just because mommy and daddy pay $5 a month, remember that. 8) How personal am I getting when I write "a bunch of kids"? 9) Cornering the market is a sleazy affair in real life, and yes you go to prison. However please state where you go to prison in Jagex rules, also please document where people have to do anything by force on Runescape. No one is forcing you to buy, but in real life there are certain necessities such as food, and you have to pay the price, or steal it and become a criminal yourself. Its also common knowledge that people who manipulate prices of non-vital commodities in real life take advantage of the greedy consumer. So you can blaim the people who buy the product as well. 10) I bet alot of things are new to you. But please learn to read full sentences. I wrote "the real world market is also not controlled by fascists ". You broke it down only as an illiterate is capable of doing, that being not reading the full sentence therefore understanding it wrong. 11) Fascism is when a place, in this instance, Runescape, is controlled by a single party. That party being Jagex. I'm not here to tutor you though. I'd also love to go further into Fascism, but this post was meant to appeal to people like you, so I feel no need to dumb it down for one person. 12) Your last comment underlines the fact that you more than likely are illiterate, or just "slow". Please learn, that there is, for example, a difference between calling someone an idiot without a reason. And calling someone an idiot, stating the reason, and than continuing to suggest how to solve the problem. In fact that is the whole essence of constructive criticism. Saying things bluntly but also following up with something constructive.

23th June 2009- DevBlog- Feedback and Blue Blocks
I think the majority would prefer clarification on this whole merchant clan ordeal in the form of an official post (Or are sit-downs at the office not custom?) But I guess dwarves come first :^o

A REAL Solution to Price Manipulation
master_smither . why are you so anxious to get certain players banned? They are obviously not doing anything illegal. (I see you have now turncoated to not calling it illegal, but "wrong", thats a step in the right direction). These people are playing the game in a more creative way than most. And although they might be stunting the game for some , what other "good" reason do you have to ban these said people? Other than the idea that people will get "scared and stop". That's ludicrous. We aren't all 12 year olds and most of us are capable of free-thinking, meaning that if people want to continue they will continue, banning or not. Do people still try to macro? Do people still try to scam? Do people still try to steal other peoples accounts? Do people try hundreds of ways every day to abuse a flaw in the game system? If you don't know these answers I'll help you and say yes, yes, yes and yes. Are they all bannable offences? Yes. I know people richer than some of these merchant clan leaders, and they used their own skills to get their fortunes, combined with the luck of having played early in the game when certain items were dropped. Meaning that if they were to sell just 10-20 of certain items, they could, and would, outmatch any merchant clan leader, enabling them to corner the market however they seem fit. These people have every right to do so and I suppose you want these people banned as well, for the childish reason of "ruining the game for others", an arguement that is so used and abused in this debate, that it cannot be taken seriously anymore. People use this arguement to for their own selfish needs, as they in reality couldn't give a flying fluck about other people, but care about their own fortune, and we all know thats the truth 9 out of 10 times. Well those "others" need to get off their rear and find another method of enjoyment and stop being so narrowsighted. So its now seemingly boiling down to the general consensus being, that a group of people should be banned if they are making a larger group of people not enjoy the game. According to your logic and the logic of several others. So what else does this include? Clan pking? Shouldn't the leaders also be banned, since they also are leading a large group of people to greatness, and at the same time stepping on other people to get there? At least find some stronger arguements that might actually lead to something constructive. Because all these lame arguements for why clan merchants are such monsters are starting to piss me and alot of other people off. Sounds more like a bunch of spoiled teenagers who had their favourite toy broken, than people who want to solve this problem in a method where both sides feel their wishes have been met.(I guess thats too much to ask from a bunch of kids, but please feel free to prove me wrong!) But I guess thats a little too much to ask, from people who seemingly have so much hatred for another group of people, they they only see things from a hate-perspective. Which is one word - pathetic. On a side note. (I can't believe I'm saying this again). Please abstain from drawing parallels from real life events to Runescape. The only point you make clear when doing this is, that you fail to see that there is a difference between a virtual world, and the real world. There are millions of factors that play into the real world market, and the real world market is also not controlled by fascists (Jagex). The simple fact that Runescape market is a controlled market in the first place differentiates the two markets on such a large scale that the RS economy might as well be on the planet Pluto. I know this post contains alot of negativity towards some and for that I truly apologize, but please try to see this as a wake-up call, not just to those people but to all of us. My closing words will be these; Instead of bickering, arguing, pointing fingers and witch-hunting, let us come together as a gaming community is capable of, and raise the bar to a higher standard, that being striving towards a common goal. A common goal being to improve the gameplay by contributing with positive input and not seeing the opposing part as your enemy, but your friend, albeit a wayward friend, but still a friend. One who you wish to help by constructive criticism, and not by being a loud-mouthed baby (babies cry when they want something, I've seen alot of crying here). Because face it. Those players aren't going to just magically disappear. They will also still be around, just like you, and who knows what potential positive input these players are capable of? They've already proven themselves capable of thinking outside the box, something which should be rewarded, not criticized.

Nerfing the 26k trick.
Depends on perspective. While drops become more valuable, there is VERY real danger of inflation. Mass influx of coins to the economy drives down the value of the RS dollar, so no matter -how- you make money, that money won't buy as much. The big difference is that now while slayer is no longer dying, all skills are at least somewhat deteriorated. Jagex could cut the EP rate tenfold and STILL have people 26king. Is there a possibly more sure sign it needs to be nerfed? Cash is the only fuel for the G.E. But I surely do agree with you, that if the amount of people doing this little trick here stays the same, or worse, grows, than we will in the not so distant future have a spin-off in the market which we can blaim on this recent update including idols. Keep in mind though, that money is only really valuable in a game if its spent. If it doesn't get spent it means nothing, as there are no such things as interest payouts in this game. However! Since tens of thousands of people are going to be standing around with millions upon millions of hard gold coins earned so easily, it would be tempting to put it into hair brained schemes and excessive luxuries, which will actually reward the economy as a whole, since people will be buying stuff they don't need, but *want*. And there are many items to spend money on that you normally wouldn't.

Nerfing the 26k trick.
I, and all high levels pre-pvp worked up their stats so they could make money well with whatever method they like. It's not fair that everyone gets instant access to the same gp rates, even if the higher levels can do it as well. I'm just a little disturbed by Jagex's lack of care for the entire situation, they've even clearly stated it's within rules to do this. I feel exactly the same way. Its very disheartening for me to read multiple messages in clan channels from low levels reading "Omg I only got a 600k drop" and other stuff like this, when they in reality are using a method which (again) requires no skill, minimal risk (only because it happens in a pvp zone, which is why you find someone ur own level so you can chicken out any time) and pays maximum. Its funny. Because pking was fun in its most pure form, the original form that started sucking once it got tampered with again and again , defacing it into something not even worthy of being called pking - more like a subskill which you just repeatedly do over and over again with little chance of failure.
-
Nerfing the 26k trick.
its prefectly fair, theres nothing stopping you from doing 26k as well... although i must agree, these new drops need to be nerfed too.. 50m loot in a few days of pvp.. really cant be good for economy Actually its a very positive stimuli for the economy. But I do agree that it is way to easy for low levels and medium levels to gain insane cash using a method that in a sense has minimal risk and maximum pay-off. Let it be known that I've never done it myself, as I prefer to level my skills up, and with skills follow money.

Mod Mat K & Manipulator clans Debate
Doesn't help much either that people are going around forums claiming this and that about it being illegal, just because they have some random jagex mod on their friends list (or just that doesnt have privacy on) that doesnt think its cool that some make money and others do. I'll let all you people point the finger and laugh going "i told you so" once they actually do something about it and not just blow hot air into the room. Until than, go apply for a real job at jagex (forget jagex, maybe just a real job?) if you want to claim stuff. You people know who you are. Its getting tiresome to watch some people try to piece spread-out bits of information together in an attempt to establish their arguement. Also some of you should know, that one moderators opinion, or even 10 moderators opinions, or even 100 moderators opinions mean squat, until all those people, or the people in charge sit down together and work out a policy and an agenda of how to solve this problem and than publicize it on the official website. As this is such a far-reaching problem I can imagine that the reason Jagex is reluctant to respond at this point is, that they do not wish to shoot themselves in the foot. Something several ppl already have done on this thread. No mentioning names, but if the shoe fits, wear it.

Why Don't People Explore Anymore?
@ sailing. The horse is dead. if you don't know what that means feel free to look the expression up. As for exploring. Well I recently bought membership for the first time after being an active free player for over 8 yrs. One of the things I find least enjoyable is exploring this vast new world. So I don't. I choose to "discover" all these new regions, areas and dungeons in good time, when a quest takes me there. Or perhaps a treasure trail. I don't personally find enjoyment in walking around aimlessly for the sole reason of seeing a place that I've never seen before. More than likely I will forget about this place anyway, if I have no purpose of being there. On the other hand, I've started remembering many p2p areas of Runescape where I've had business to do there. In other words. I remember the places that are useful to me, and the places that I haven't visited are the places where I have not had any business yet.... Yet. So to me exploring is not fun. Neither is it a necessity. As I rest assured that the quests and treasure trails will take me to the new places in good time.

Tip.It Times: 21 June 2009
Nice reads. Also a good Did You Know is this. Crafting was released on the same day (april 6th '01) as the Prayer skill along with the entire region of Asgarnia. Also the combination of your evil/good prayer levels was added together to make your new normal prayer level as we know it by now. For example, if you had 14 evil prayer & 14 good prayer, you started off with level 28 prayer. Since the bone xp was divided between the 2 prayer skills before that. :) As was the same case for magic. With that in mind, these are the top 10 "clerics" (the term of which you were known by on server status if you were the person with the highest prayer online on your specific server) as of February 2002, showcasing how hard it really was to level prayer "back in the day". :P Not surprisingly Gearshifter #1 as he was also the first to max combat in rs1. 1 - Gearshifter - 77 - 1596784 2 - Sandytrain - 73 - 1011848 3 - Eva 02 - 71 - 854728 4 - Ladykilljoy - 71 - 850952 5 - Bytesmee - 71 - 817893 6 - Yedija - 70 - 805652 7 - Queendemoni - 70 - 800537 8 - Angelmoon - 70 - 799425 9 - Lady Lynda - 70 - 772114 10 - Tks - 70 - 756794 In this hidden part you can see the Top 100 clerics. Please notice the giant gap in XP between #100 and #1. Which really underlines the facts in the Tip.It times stating how hard it was to level up. Prayer was really a full-time job. RSC prices
My eyes are burning from the incorrect information in the last few posts so let me set some things right :) bluerose was first to 99 smithing. in may 2001 the top smithers 5 had to be lightning, bluerose, mysticsmagics, twy, zweihander or dmonik. s h a r k was a top miner. but you probably looked at the server status which showed the top smither ONLINE at the time. :P rune platebody was never 84.5k and i dont know where you got that theory. the most the rune plate ever cost was 65535 upon release at oziach, since 65535 was the maximum amount of coins you could hold in 1 slot. rune chains were 50k at champs. and it was rune leggings that cost 64k. As far as I'm concerned rune larges were never above 80k on the normal varrock market price. of course u could find guys who bought for more out of desperation. but 80k was pretty much the max a rune full helmet ever cost. hope that cleared up some issues ;) also as you can see. musashi22 was nowhere near 99 smithing at the same time as bluerose13x. he's famous for crippling the rune market. see below picture. (the #1 was a bug, pay no attention to it, it was not a real character either).

Tip.It Times: 14 June 2009
No I think I know what you're saying my dear. Its just that I find this rest feature 100% positive whereas I found every aspect of the fatigue system with beds and bags 110% negative towards the dynamics of the game. I can't seem to draw any parallels between the two, except of course that we have to "rest" back than and now hehe. Fatigue really discouraged myself and many others but rest seems to have raised the bar and made alot of ppl happy . :

yeah the bad thing about prayer beasts was that they went through food uber fast lol
