  1. I learned something funny today, the christian bible says tattoos are evil lolz
  2. [hide=] You only hear about the failures. Here's a short list of US interventions since WW2. World War II Korean Berlin Blockade, 1948 (not a shooting war, but it was the US military intervening with another country) Albania 1952 Korean War 1950 Vietnam 1960 Dominican Civil War 1965 Trinidadian Rebellion 1970 Mayaguez Incident: Cambodia 1975 Peace Village Incident 1976 Dominican Electoral Intervention 1978 Jonestown, Guyana 1978 US Ambassador: Afghanistan 1979 Strait of Hormuz Incident 1988 Libyan Fighters Incident 1989 US Invasion of Panama 1989 Persian Gulf War 1990-91 U.S. Occupation of Haiti 1994 Kosovo 1999 Afganistan 2001 Iraq 2003 Vietnam was a failure, but Korea was pretty much a success in a sense. North Korea was invading South Korea with the attempt to take it over by force, the US intervened and the final result was the South Korea remained free. Iraq on the other hand, we don't know if it is a success yet. A lot of people give the US crap like "the US military can't even beat a small country, they suck." or "Why are they still there anyway, they want to take it over". *sigh* People, it would have been hella easy for the US to go in, destroy Saddam's regime and leave. Thats whats 99.9% of countries do when they declare war. Hitler, Genghis Kahn, the Spartans, etc all take over the government and move on. Its quick, its easy, its the way war works. The United States however chooses to spend trillions of dollars and thousands of lives of its servicemen to build schools, train the police, repair the roads, build hospitals, and ensure the safety of the population. I really don't get all the hate on the US for "still being in Iraq". Would the world really prefer if we just left the place in chaos? Should we have been there in the first place, No. But now that we're there the US is doing the right thing, and at great expense. We have hundreds of thousands of troops fighting wars in the two countries... on either side of Iran. The current regime in Iran is the sole supplier of IEDs, RPG-7s, and other gear for the insurgencies in both counties. The current regime in Iran has been funding and supplying our only enemies in this war. If the Iran regime falls, yes that would be absurdly fantastic for the Iranians, but it would also be a HUGE victory for the United States and its War on Terror. Are the new protesters and their political figures pro-Western? Not exactly but they have been chanting "Obama give us our freedom" and "down with the dictador, we want democracy". This would be a nice change from the current regime which states "We will wipe Israel off the map" and "Iran should be a nuclear power". Lastly, this is a group of people trying to revolt against an oppressive and corrupt dictatorship, they want democracy. The United States consider's itself the "world's oldest (continuous) democracy" and thus its patriots and leaders are greatly interested in hearing about the spread of democracy by others. We have fought wars near and far, and if a democratic country gets invaded by a dictatorship, the United States will defend the democracy. We don't want to interfere in another people's revolution (Obama intelligently agrees with this thought) but we will stand on the sidelines and give them moral support and cross our fingers. [/hide] What he said The only thing I would note is that calling Iran the sole supplier of the listed weapons is probably innacurate, a better choice would be primary supplier. Secondly, americans are hardly being self centered in concering themselves over how this unrest in iran affects them. The possibility of a very anti western country having a revolution is very relevant to american foreign policy.
  3. A rocket launcher wouldn't be awful against a large hoard of zombies, the initial blast is going to kill a few and the shockwave will probably disable a good portion by breaking enough bones and causing muscle damage. The noise means it should only be used if handy and if we are already facing down most of the zombies in the area, but its not like a machine gun where it would be wasting ammo.
  4. A good move, there is no legitimate reason to withold legal benefits from same sex couples.
  5. well a combat ring in a house would be an interesting choice
  6. They arent worth fighting at your level; personally I would advise you go train slayer so you get a mix of money profit and additional experience while you train. Green dragons would be another option, your a little low to do them perfectly but they are a good source of money.
  7. In fairness, most of those are policies of schools not laws; although most(especially the strip search) were rather atrocious.
  8. [hide=] http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2009/6/17/03040/0325 [/hide] two things a. can I get a small summary of iranian politics, you seem to be fairly familiar and my understanding of their government structure isnt exactly up to par b. where do you go for all of your research on stuff? You seem to be the most sourced of any one that posts on here and I would greatly appreciate some links to good research sites.
  9. The only "better" way would be putting the intelligencia in charge and keeping everything peacful enough that the lower intellectual classes never bother to care. The problem is this never works out.
  10. monkey madness boss is the one that immediately comes to mind. a lot of bosses from quests that you fight in an alternate realm type thing(such as how you get your own piscatoris during swan song) could be included.
  11. I dont think anyone will intervene indirectly unless it becomes an open revolution. If that happens I can see a few powers "selling" arms to the revolution and providing other supply based aid. The odds of an actual military intervention are very small in my estimation. I think mccain's statement was a bit overdone, then again hes not president so he gets to overstep what he would say as president in this case.
  12. I think to get to armored zombies you are going to need the hunter requirement for the quest, one of the parts you need involves a tracking activity which is probably what uses the hunter.
  13. this isnt particulary exciting, but it sure messed up my sense of conciousness I had this weird dream that kept messing my state of conciousness up, I remember dreaming that I went to sleep in my bed. Next, I remember "waking up" and doing some normal mundane activity. I then remember "waking up" again and I thought "wow that was weird having a dream about reality. Not sure how many times I "woke up", the last one was weirdest because I remember floating back into my own body and actually waking up. edit--funny part was that I wasnt sure if I was actually awake for around 4 hours, didn't want to trust that I was actually not dreaming.
  14. And in the military you don't? In the days of napoleonic warfare, the soldiers were taught just to point there gun at the enemy file and shoot. The american colonists who hunted were able to maximize the accuracy of the smoothbore muskets they used since they were always shooting at a single object. the current comand "ready, aim, fire" was originally taught as "ready, present arms, fire"; I believe the americans changed it under von steuban(could be wrong). The main place this came in handy was when guerilla warfare was being used, and when the colonists actually developed snipers(not called that back then) who could demoralize british troops.
  15. 7 eastern 6 midwest(I forget name) 5 mountain 4 pacific
  16. I am assuming you are talking about the United States' revolution, even though that has happened many times. The particular case then was slightly different because it still took a while to get across the Atlantic, and it was expensive. The Iranian revolution they aren't a part of an empire an ocean away from the leaders, they are just there. Strength usually wins. If it broke into a full scale war then it would all depend upon the weapondry the civilians could aquire/how much military broke away. The americans had a good chance: it was musket v musket, americans were hunters and therefore trained to shoot(actually more accurate then british who were just told to point at a line), and the americans received a crucial naval advantage from the french.
  17. Nice idea but they said it comes from James Bond. I might agree with this, if I didn't read Extras, in which the idea was laid out for them. they said jokingly that it was a combination of the death ray from james bond and a harpoon gun. Im not sure about the exact payload capabilities but its certainly a fascinating/terrifying idea.
  18. well, since he thought you were macroing(even though he is report hunting) he wasnt really reporting you falsely. I can't remember if saying you reported is against the rules or just considered bad conduct.
  19. I'm starting to hope a full scale revolution occurs and works properly; if it turned out well it would clear up a good chunk of international problems and give the west a potential new ally.
  20. Hamlet much? OT interesting question of course, my bets are on either floating in nothingness concious for eternity or simple end to existing.
  21. As I recall, jagex has said they will never do this due to security and other concerns. If a large portion of rs was put onto disk then they would run the risk of modding and other problems. Secondly, I believe they have always said they never want to make a disk version as a key part of rs is being pure client non downloaded.
  22. [hide=] oh yeah!?? well you're discriminating against racists. beat that mr "i'm not a racist" [/hide]
  23. So you dont even think it would be worthwhile if I could manage it with oak logs?
  24. nurses at the duel arena
  25. Because its wrong to kill people out of aggression when they arent yet a real threat to us? If they develop nukes and start threatening us, then perhaps a small military strike on the nuclear facilities would be justified.
