  1. To be honest it isn't widely used outside of combat. I can't think of many REAL uses for familiars, or times I've used them. I think the only real time I have is grhaaking natures. =/ To expand:
  2. As always, loved your article, Rach. As Lala mentioned, allowing players who accessed Classic during the re-release not too long ago was a horrible idea on Jagex's part. There are players, myself included, who have been playing RuneScape since its release in 2001. The Classic cape is pointless for us to wear, because it does nothing to show off our "achievement" or dedication to the game. In all honesty, since the release of the new capes, whenever I've seen someone with a Classic cape on, I am just automatically assuming that they only played during the re-release. I've seen the odd player wearing a Classic cape and wielding a Scythe or Bunny ears, which is slightly more comforting, but really... there is nothing to distinguish the "true" Classic players from the... not. I don't have anything negative to say about the Veteran cape. I will, however, disagree with the statement that RuneScape is becoming "CapeScape." Really... I bought the Vet and Classic capes, wore them for a few moments to try on the emote, and banked them. I don't think I'll wear them again, and I'm going to chuck them into my POH when I get a chance. I am driven to get my skills higher, but not for the fact of getting the level capes. I don't mind the color scheme, but I don't have any desire to wear these capes to "show off" my achievements. - - - As far as the second article goes... well, I'm all for freedom to express your opinions, but I don't agree with the author at all. I think it's ridiculous to say that Summoning adds little to the game. Has the author even tried out the Summoning skill? I don't mean to be disrespectful or incite a fight... but really, you should have some experience with these things before you make statements about them. Summoning gives a huge advantage to combat, but it also greatly affects other aspects of the game, including skilling. Just to name a few important Summoning familiars that have great uses outside of combat: Macaw Magpie Spirit terrorbird Abyssal parasite/lurker Spirit Graahk, Kyatt, and Larupia War tortoise Fruit bat Giant ent Hydra Wolpertinger Pack yak If you know me at all, you'll know that I... dislike Dungeoneering, and I too do not consider it a skill, but I will still say that it's a little... rude to say that if you like Dungeoneering you are a "demanding, shallow customer." You say that Archaelogy is "detailed, creative and brilliant," a statement that could easily be applied to Summoning, Hunter, and Dungeoneering. Again, I don't mean to incite fighting, but the bits about Archaeology seem like a cheap plug to draw more attention to the forum topic about it.
  3. Uh... I might be alone here, but I personally put on some music that makes me feel sad and wallow in it for a bit. It isn't that I "enjoy" feeling sad or down... I'm usually happy-go-lucky all the time, so I guess it's just... necessary? to feel another emotion like sadness for once. Then I just gradually get over it, I guess.

  5. To chime in really quickly (a lot of people who are hacked forget about this!), be sure to check your MTK coffers if you haven't already!
  6. I don't mean any offense to the OP, but it really just sounds like you need to figure out how badly you need the money. If you were really hard-pressed for cash, you could just do one of the methods you listed, even if they're menial tasks. :P If Farming is too boring for you, try doing an herb run in between Slayer tasks, or between boss-hunting trips. That way you can get a mix of profiting and enjoyment at the same time. Like I said... no offense intended!
  7. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! <3:
  8. Are you strictly looking for methods involving boss-hunting? I know it gets thrown out there a lot, but if you like skilling, Farming is a great way to profit. Sorry I can't give advice about boss-hunting. Not my area. :P
  9. Lord of the Rings: Return of the Half-Blood Prince
  10. I haven't read anything at all lately. It's so depressing. I was doing quite well back when my laptop was exploding and didn't work... but now that I have a new, shiny computer... :-w I CAN'T DECIDE ON WHAT TO READ. I guess I could always reread Jurassic Park... tripsis, I'm too lazy to go back and try to find it (maybe there was a topic about it?) but did you ever finish reading Rick Riordan's The Lost Hero?
  11. I, too, am terribly, terribly confused about the Harry/Voldemort scene. So far (knock on wood) this looks like the most disappointing part of the movie. Eight movies later and they still haven't learned that you DON'T ADD RANDOM STUFF THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN IN THE BOOKS. You can elect to not include trivial details or scenes, but please please please don't try to rewrite original material. I understand that it was likely done to try to make the film more dramatic... but really... it's cover-to-cover 739 pages of nonstop action. It's times like these that have you wonder why J. K. Rowling gives her approval on the films. Can you imagine how shocking it will be to have Harry fall off of a bridge/battlement, and then suddenly appear on screen... surrounded by mist... quite dead and quite nude? /nerd rage
  12. I see what you did there. Are you serious?... Yeah, beer adds a lot of flavor to food, you have to try it. I personally like to avoid the trouble of cooking, and just drink instead. @Returnofmic: I thought you fell off the face of the earth and/or died. But you're alive! @DG: That looks like it was a fun party! Mexican food is the best. ;3
  13. Let's hope Jagex doesn't read this post... XD!!!!!!!! Oh, god...
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mObK5XD8udk&feature=player_embedded AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Pretty much sums it up.
  15. I wasn't aware HYTing people had died...
  16. daily PROGRESS 14,000,000 Farming EXP :twss: :twss: :twss:
  17. Here's my suggested, and a fairly common, route: My Arm's/Trollheim patch Port Phasmatys Falador cabbage patch Ardougne Catherby BEFORE you take a sip of your Juju farming potion, teleport (or tab) to Trollheim and run to My Arm's herb patch. Once you are at the herb patch and ready to go, THEN take a sip of your Juju potion. If you take a sip of the Juju potion before you are at the My Arm patch, it is VERY difficult to hit up all five patches within the alloted time, especially if you get large yields. If you don't have access to, or don't use, the Trollheim patch, then of course you can start at any of the patches, really. An Ectophial and Explorer's ring are suggested as teleports to the Port Phasmatys and Falador patches, respectively. (In my humble opinion) Being on Lunar magicks is suggested if you are "serious" about Farming. Reasons for playing on Lunars include: Fishing Guild Teleport (for Ardougne patch) Catherby Teleport Plant Cure Fertile Soil Fertile Soil is incredibly useful due to the fact that you can cast it before OR after you plant a seed in a patch, whereas with using buckets of supercompost/compost, you cannot compost after planting a seed should you happen to forget to. [hide=My Inventory/Setup] Mystic mud staff - Acts as unlimited Water and Earth runes when equipped Amulet of nature - Bound to the last patch of my herb run (Catherby) so when it "rings" and tells me my herb is grown, I know I can do another run. Falador shield 3 (2+ works) - Grants more Farming XP if equipped when harvesting at the Falador patch Explorer's ring 4 (3+ works) - Unlimited free teleports to Falador patch ** You may wish to wear Boots of lightness and/or a Spotted/Spottier cape in order to reduce your weight, but I don't have any issues with running out of Run Energy. ** You may wish to wear the Ardougne cloak 2+ in order to use the teleport to the Ardougne patch. x200 Astral, Nature and Law runes - Fertile Soil/Plant Cure and teleporting x2 Fire and Cosmic runes - Cosmics are for Spellbook swap, Fires are for teleporting to Trollheim Ectophial - Teleport to Port Phasmatys Spade and Seed dibber - Planting seeds Magic secatures - Increased yields when equipped Juju farming potion x5 Herb seeds ** 200 of each rune is actually overdoing it. I just got in the habit of using this many back when I was doing herbs, allotments and trees all at once. ** I bring a Ring of Duelling with me because I harvest Cactus spines before I start my herb run. You can omit the Ring if you don't harvest spines.[/hide]
  18. "Yay!! Holiday event - new Evil trees! Updated Livid Farm costs! ... Ffffffffffffffffff."
  19. daily PROGRESS 78 Crafting Hawthorn Holly Got LRC and Desert strykewyrm tasks for the first time yesterday and tonight. I could... live without doing LRC again; Deserts, while not as enjoyable as Jungles, weren't half-bad - I don't see why everyone told me they sucked. Also, got 63 Torstol just then; my record so far (for Torstol anyway.) I'm determined to meet or beat Slay's record of 70. ALSO, FIX THIS PLZ JAGEX KTHNXBAI: :3 you know you love me still :3
  20. I was able to get the Icicle crown without getting the "fake" Year or triggering any cutscenes. I just killed a Hawthorne tree and then ran and talked to the Queen of Snow, without searching the stump of the Evil tree. :-w
  21. You have to agree to help her before killing an Evil hawthorne tree. As far as your original question, you only need to kill 1 of each tree.
  22. I would definitely be interested in a RuneScape movie! As a few people have already mentioned, even if the movie DOES suck and tanks, I highly doubt that the game RuneScape would suffer from it. If anything, all of the negative reviews about the movie could bring more attention/users to the game.
