Blisterwood weapon mechanics
I wish I knew :(. It doesn't seem to be an equal distribution like normal weapons have, 800+ hits are much rarer than they ought to be (should be about 15-20% of the hits, since the max hit is in the high 900s or low 1000s, but it's less iirc). It suggests a variable multiplier. But no idea how it actually works.

Slayer for melee xp
The standard slayer list is already taking into account that you only need melee xp, because ranged comes from cannon and titan (magic from skilling).

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Not even that, because gear switching is much harder with action bar switching added (not to mention artificial drawbacks on switching). You lose as much as you gain. The system as it stands is really throwing out the things that make RS combat what it is, that is, gear and prayer switching, eating at the right times, KO-based PvP etc. etc. In my opinion, the system would be better if: 1) There were no abilities or adrenaline. 2) "Small" equipment pieces like boots, gloves, capes, amulets, rings and so on were more all-round items. 3) Overloads and other status effects were shown in real time including (crucially) the reboost time. Perhaps even an expansion in that all potions have a reboost interval and all food has a small stat drain when you eat it. Currently in place that go together with this: 4) "Large" equipment pieces like helmet, top, legs, shields and weapons can be switched via the action bar. 5) Prayers can be switched via the action bar, potions drunk, food eaten. 6) Combat familiars and overloads can be used (nearly) everywhere. That's the real Runescape combat, version 2.0.

How should I max?
Right, right, I knew there was an update I forgot! That post is ancient XD. Anyway, fixed.

How should I max?
The base slayer gear is as follows (alternatives in brackets): [For all slayer monsters except those mentioned under other weapons] Chaotic rapier (whip) Bandos body + legs (Verac's skirt with either fighter torso or proselyte top) [Depending on prayer/accuracy needs] Tokhaar cape > Fire cape/Soul Wars cape/Ardougne cloak 3 Barrows gloves (your best rfd gloves, at least rune) Steadfast/Dragon boots (rune boots) Saradomin's whisper (Amulet of fury, glory) Dragon defender (rune defender) Berserker ring (i)/ferocious ring if slaying in Kuradal's Dungeon (berserker ring, warrior ring) [Most important] Full slayer helmet (Slayer helmet, black mask) [For magic defence on waterfiends/aquanites] Karil's top and elite void skirt (black dragonhide body and chaps) [Crush attacks to use on waterfiends] Goliath gloves > Chaotic maul (Saradomin sword, Zamorakian spear) [stab attacks for higher-levelled dragons, when not using rapier] Korasi's sword (Zamorakian spear, leaf-bladed sword) Task-specific items such as mirror shields, antifire shields/potions, elemental shields, rock hammers, crystal chimes Cannon (optional, up to personal preference) Slayer setups generally emphasise strength bonus, which increases the average damage of each succesful hit (slayer monsters usually having rather low defence, hitting is not a problem). Secondly, prayer bonus is important to keep the cost of prayer potions down (as you slay with piety on, to increase the speed of your kills. This is cost-effective and highly recommended). As a rule of thumb, +10 prayer bonus or above is good, but don't overdo it (anything above +20 is a waste). Defence and accuracy bonus are usually not fretted over (any defence bonus over 200 will do; if you get hit too often you should be using a protection prayer). Dagganoth, black demon, black dragon, lesser demon, hellhound, bloodveld and spectre tasks should be cannoned, as it dramatically increases xp rates (although it costs a bit). Some notes on gear: You'll want a fury and a berserker ring before you get bandos plate, and get that before tassets. You'll want accuracy bonus on higher-levelled dragons; if using stab attacks (which you should) you can use the Ardougne cloak 3 which provides you with +6 stab and +6 prayer bonus. Torso + sw cape and fire cape + proselyte are common cheap top/cape combinations; the former is better. Some levels to get for slayer (in approximate order but I'm not sure on the summoning): 70 prayer and King's Ransom - piety 68 summoning - bunyip 81 dungeoneering (you need 2 million xp, which takes you to level 80, but allowing some tokens for the scroll of life) - rapier 89 herblore (85 with a +4 stew boost) - extreme potions, superantifires 95 prayer - turmoil and soul split 88 summoning - unicorn 96 herblore (91 with a +5 stew boost) - overload 99 summoning - steel titan I'm sure I missed something but this is most of it.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
The new make-x interface shows far too much information and is flashy as hell. It shouldn't show things like xp gain, cost, p2p status or alternatives that aren't possible (like cleaning guam when you're holding grimy torstol only). Those should be in the skill guide, far away from what people use daily. It's possible to clean a single herb, and I presume also cut a single gem etc. without navigation the interface but it still brings up that horrid progress bar which covers the screen too much. Imo, the current system is fine, and just needs to be modified a little bit to allow the making of single items (cutting one gem for example). The second small fix it needs is that it must be optional. You should be able to disable the make-x system in favour of single items for every item individually.

Best mage gear for...
If you can survive in it, Subjugation, otherwise Virtus. Subjugation Subjugation Subjugation Yes, except for ISW and Glacors, where csb still reigns.

If Jagex fixed the xp curve so that lower floors are worth doing as larges, the problem is solved far more elegantly and productively.

I don't think anybody can learn to dungeoneer well on their own, as passing the gt around or paying attention to other people's gates is just very different. Nor will anyone find out whether they enjoy teaming up from soloing. I don't think many people can average five or even ten minutes to get a decent five-person team together. Yes, you can skill while you gather people, but only if you're doing it via PM/Clan/Friends chat, and it's still extra effort. If soloing goes up to 350k xp/hr, you need teaming to be a lot faster, over 500k/hr easily, or it simply won't be worth the wait and effort. Soloing is also decidedly easier than teaming as monsters are far weaker. I think that deserves less xp. It's like comparing ivy and arctic pines.

3rd bind isn't that huge at all, nor is it that hard to find good teams. But you do need to have a clan or group of friends, you can't use themed worlds or Jagex' auto-group rooms, which means that the most obvious dungeoneering resources are also the most misleading ones and are actually barely/not helpful. Imo there should be the possibility to form teams and start floors in Clan Citadels to promote dungeoneering clans. I don't think solo dungeoneering should be competetive xp. Considering the time and effort it takes to put a team together, the xp rate for soloing should be half of the 5:5 rate.

I'm excited but they weren't in the BTS so now I'm mad. But at least now they'll come out after I max so I can do anything. ^^^^^^^^^ Definitely hope they'll be like strategic MTK or something. Running an esoteric business empire kinda suits our adventuring capacities and the connections we build up over time. I also hope dailies like pure essence and sand all get integrated so you won't have to collect each separately anymore -.-.

Tears update, yes, nice, but nothing game-changing. More solo dg xp, moving further and further away from the idea of a team-based skill, not really good imo, not bad either. Quest overhaul is good, but not game-changing either. Make X will be horrible, knowing Jagex. But it could be nice. Combat Beta better be fixed before they introduce the tutorial, because there's still a lot that needs work. Solomon's/SoF are always no more than mediocre, mostly just bad. So, not a bad month at all but nothing good or interesting to explore or anything. Ariane's quest could have some new lore.

How should I max?
For some skills, it's somewhat crucial that you don't grind them to 99 if you want to max. For example, grinding 99 defence is a really bad idea if you're low slayer. Other skills, like prayer, don't gather as much collateral xp so you can get 99 in them fast without losing much time. In general, for every skill there is some potential to gather free xp from SoF etc. so it's best to leave them at 98 until you're 98 base (but don't put any effort into keeping them low either). Exceptions include summoning (cause steel titan is just that good) and dungeoneering (goes up to 120, of course).

slayer/mith set up
Without chaotics I don't think you can easily survive using Bandos. Generally, people either use Bandos, rapier, defender with protect magic and flashing soul split, or they use Karil's/Ganodermic/Void with rapier, defender and protect melee. Bandos requires more ss flashing. If you're meleeing them with zspear, bring a unicorn.

Just wait till I get money for 99 fletching! 40 levels to comp, of which 16 dungeoneering. Since the challenge update I'm thinking it's better to get max cape first since dg challenges are so generous.

God Pages
If you were, hypothetically, really bored of clues, you could hunt vyrewatch and burn the corpses for a chance at pages.

End-Game: What Now?
Combat-wise, the biggest improvements can be made in equipment, getting imbued rings, virtus/pernix/torva etc.. Other than that, 90+ stats?
-
summoning training
Generally, make fruit bats/unicorns (these vary in which one is better), yaks, geysers/moss titans (again, these vary, also make lava titans if you have obby charms but don't hunt them) and barker toads. Gold and green are borderline and really depend on your patience and from an efficiency perspective how much slayer you have to do. Since you are 77 slayer, you'll get 96-99 summoning in crims from slayer only, so greens/golds shouldn't really be required.
-
95 Prayer or 91 Herblore first? + Costs.
It depends a bit on what you do to make money, or what you like doing most, or what you are aiming to train. Generally, both overloads and turmoil help in a lot of places, but for example for slayer and frost dragons, extremes are typically sufficient and it's better to stop at ~85 herblore if it would allow you to buy 95 prayer.

Friend is going P2P for one month for the first time in 5 years, needs money-making advice
If he has piety unlocked and decent equipment he can hunt dragons for cash, but without dungeoneering frosts are out of the question. KBD might work though. I would aim for all 50s stats while in p2p, mostly because some of his stats are really low.
