  1. 200k to 94 divination. I made a resolution to use up all bonus xp I have, which means I'll have to get some 400k summoning xp plus some minor amounts in other skills. Finished off woodcutting, fletching, cooking, firemaking, herblore, divination and prayer today. Left: crafting, hunter, runecrafting, construction, farming, summoning, ranged, strength, attack.
  2. I agree, I doubt that the challenge is limited to the gods present at the ascension, it's just that not all gods are important enough to be present (taking Brassica Prime as a joke, and Itchlarin as personal grudge). I think Sliske might count gods killed up to the eclipse, without a time limit in the past. That puts the score at Sliske (and Guthix) - 1 and everyone else - 0. As for available gods, I think Amascut is definitely up for killing, given that she's gone mad and no longer serves her purpose anyway. Any god who is killed by a mortal can effectively be replaced by that mortal (unless it's the player), so that's an option for Marimbo, Tumeken, Elidinis and Icthlarin. Het, Apmeken, Crondis and Scarabas are demi-gods (according to RSwiki) but may still be good targets (SW avatars would be targets then also, which seems unlikely). Finally, there's always Tuska and such, so if you can find the Sword, you can open portals until you find a proper target. The only gods who are probably safe are those with their own faction - Zaros, Seren, Armadyl, Bandos, Zamorak and Saradomin.
  3. We have abilities for that now. Theoretically, but in practice there are no abilities which function like the old shortbow > 2h switch, or Korasi > claws, and certainly nothing like maul > gmaul > gmaul. Abilities are, on the whole, a poor substitute for the variety of old combat. They do not involve speed, nor do they involve range, there's no stat drain, there are no alternate attack styles and there's no weapon switching.
  4. The variety is so small now, that weapons are literally just tiers with graphics. The damage value you see in the equipment interface isn't used in the ability damage calculations - those rely entirely on tier. Any level 80 weapon that will ever be released now will be the same as chaotics (barring special abilities or crit bonuses).
  5. I think it's a reasonable poll: they think an update is needed, they have shaped an option, now they have a yes/no poll followed by a reassessment round. It's not a 'we want an update with something like resetting skills' versus 'we never want something with resetting skills', it's much more specific: 'we want this update' versus 'this update needs improving'.
  6. If Sliske ascends using the power of the Stone and Staff, he will defeat Saradomin, I think. If he confronts Saradomin as Mahjarrat, using Staff and Stone, he won't win, just like Zamorak almost didn't. Sliske currently has the momentum and element of surprise, plus that the Shadow Realm is almost exclusively his domain - apparently even the Dragonkin are not so powerful there. In addition, Sliske is far more ruthless - he kidnaps Death, even - and far more flexible - he claims and releases the Citadel as the situation demands - which make him harder to fight. I think this is like many of the wars we've seen in the past fifty to sixty years, e.g. USA in Vietnam, USSR in Afghanistan, USA in Iraq - a superpower enters an area unfamiliar to them, fights a bloody war versus an intangible enemy - with increasing desperation - and is eventually driven off with loss of strength and face. This time, the guerillas have a nuke or two, hidden in the jungle. Small wonder that the gods are unwilling to charge in. @Ruinous Edge: That's always a possibility. Zaros' powers and methods are defined in such a way that he could always be pulling the strings on anything :P.
  7. I think Sliske is mainly looking to clear the stage of gods at this point. Best-case scenario, he gets to become the only god on Gielinor with no additional effort. Worst-case scenario, he gets to become a god and has to kill the others himself. I doubt that even Saradomin could stand up to ascended Sliske using Staff and Stone, given that Sliske is a much more gifted strategist.
  8. [hide]1) Probably a joke, the masks in the first room say 'you're almost there, you're probably using a guide!' as well. 2) Remembrance. It's quite a famous tradition, to leave a chair open for a deceased important person (which Guthix does fall into, doesn't he?). 3) I'm guessing that Icthlarin is considered more important to the business of the world as a whole, Tumeken is more of a desert-only god, who's also too weak to be of importance (so is Icthlarin, but the connection with Death is important). 4) Well that's the whole fun of it :D. 5) Agreed that it'd have been fun to have more puzzles, but Sliske chose to clear the area after he was done. He's not really the fixed-location kind of guy anyway.[/hide]
  9. No, I'm pretty sure the floor is glitched, it should be a metre higher or so.
  10. This is a real example of good and plentiful dialogue. I'm very pleased that there's additional options if you have done more quests (TWW being one, Temple at Senntisten also, some others). The puzzles and combat are good for novice-level quests, the voice acting is nice (I still find it a bit annoying, but that's not RS-related). Sliske's voice is rather good. Overall, this is a better quest than BotD, and a pretty/very good quest overall. That also has to do with it being sold as a novice quest, meaning it's length isn't a real issue. Even if you're not into quests, I would do this one right now, just to get the 'twist' at the end for yourself ;).
  11. Not really. The main source of smithing xp needs to leave the game at the rate that it enters it. Well, first of all, combining the charge on Tetsu pieces is equivalent to repair kits being released from PoP, so I don't see why you would add kits. If you're going to release repair kits from not-PoP, I don't think you're going to balance it well. Not that I don't agree that smithing could do with a bit of a revamp economy-wise, since it's basically dependant on ore drops from monsters and alching, but I don't think Ports should have much to do with it.
  12. Isn't Tetsu a consumable product enough already? The main difference between repair kits and buying new armour is that, as it is now, you can't use up the annoying 1% Tetsu armours. You could just allow people to combine two of the same pieces of Tetsu into a single piece (with a charge equal to the sum of the charges of the constituent pieces). Put a 90 smithing requirement on that, assistable, and you're done.
  13. Having regular ports armour as non-degradable wouldn't be different from repair kits, so there is no reason to add repair kits. There may be reason to add some way to recycle armour with a short timer left, such as alching (having an alch value dependant on charge %), but that's it. Ports is profitable enough as-is, so I see no reason to boost it.
  14. If you look at the accuracy calculator, you can see that you're already getting some very high accuracy percentages without switches. Certainly if you're using drygores, you won't need melee armour (melee/range switch is suggested by the guide, anyway). Switches also lower your defence and increase your risk. Finally, why not use war-priest instead of bringing another 4 switches?
  15. I don't know, I found my avatar on a google search once. That's not me, for sure. I wear this avatar better anyway :3. Edit: 93 divination. Edit: emptied all the pendants I had left, that's one regular pendant for each skill and a bunch of prized pendants (I already put 14 prismatics on Divination, and some pendants were empty because I got them pre-99). Total xp gain: 33 x 41289 xp = 1362537 xp.
  16. Basically, divide xp/pendant by xp/h at each given level, which will give you hours/pendant at each level. That's the time you save using a pendant, higher is better of course. Generally, it's best to use pendants quite late (90+). I'm not sure whether the xp/h increase from 94 to 95 is big enough that it's worth rushing there with pendants. If you have, say, 50 pendants, you can just use them at 90 and have bonus xp up to 99, if you include challenges and such.
  17. I'd have warned that colin dude by now, if not actually banned (depending on whether they continued posting). Not to mention that you have to edit out the quotes.
  18. I believe it's linear (about 13m xp extra per prestige level). It doesn't double every level. Given that prestige is unlimited, it's more likely to be about the top ranks in each skill, as well as overall.
  19. Yes, that's my list of suggestions, combat sections. But it's not finished yet so don't take it as such. There may be old things in there that I don't think are a good idea anymore, or that don't work with other sections. The equipment section, for example, outlines a really complicated system, which I like, but may not be good for the game. I'd like to note that the fairly common suggestion of 'more wilderness resources' won't work. Most of the game's runite isn't from rocks, it's from the Queen Black Dragon and other monsters. You'll have to remove skilling resources from PvM drop tables to make rune rocks viable again. Which is something I'd support, but it's not something Jagex will implement.

Yes, not per sé (mh mace is good, oh doesn't matter), yes, not really 'worth' it but convenient.
  21. Well, you got your choice of three combinations of two attack styles, them being not magic, not ranged and not melee. I recommend bringing melee at least. Hood + blood neck + primal plate + primal 2h + ssb Hood + blood neck + celestial top + ccs + primal 2h Hood + blood neck + sagittarian top + ssb + ccs Leave out the blood neck if you're not 120.
  22. Good stuff, I'll be posting a bit there. My prediction is that Jagex will not succeed in revitalizing PvP.
  23. 92 divination. Edit: this may be relevant: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1364ur0y9FBkzGCMt1146Xhe8wNWnL3zEgN6I3YD6aZE/edit?pli=1
  24. I'd like to point this out, in case anyone missed it: "Trust trades are permitted so long as the person organizing the trust trade is the person assuming the risk." So, good luck finding a trade partner :).

If you get into combat a bit, there are a number of tasks you can do as boss hunting. They are: Dagannoths - Dagannoth Kings Kalphites - Kalphite King Aviansies - Kree'arra Greater demons - K'ril Tsutsaroth Black dragons - Queen Black Dragon These are generally pretty decent cash and slayer xp, though your charm rates may suffer. The idea of using abilities is that you are always using one (every 1.8 seconds unless the ability takes longer than that), but that you are also using the most powerful ones. The trick is to make a rotation that uses as few of the weak abilities as possible. As it turns out, that's really simple, just use Slice whenever you can and alternate Dismember, Sever, Assault, Destroy and Slaughter in between.
