  1. What's with the efficiency hate... No it's not accurate to use efficient and elitist intechangeably, let's leave it at that.
  2. The spirit cape effect would be worth the 48k tokens, except that you have to give up a soul wars cape to wear it. So if you were using, say, elite void, fury and divine, you'd have 16 prayer bonus and still be able to use the cape. Without such a prayer bonus I think it wouldn't be worth it (since prayer is a big factor in how long you can stay at places).
  3. Iirc Grimy thought they might be worthwhile to cannon in there. If you don't cannon, keep them blocked, if you do, find out :P.
  4. It is called 'getting KOed/smited'. Well they ARE shown in your combat level, everyone can do the required quests. I am making a pure right now, and 45->95 prayer is 6/7 combat levels. Oh look it's bad lets go make it even worse. 1) You'd have to be at both low health and low prayer for something like that to work. 2) The quests are still not shown in your combat level. As such, they are equal to extremes and should all be banned. 3) Yes, let's. Or, if not, let's remove something else when we add extremes.
  5. High-protect value items are not always risked. If you can teleport, you can use that before you reach 0 prayer, and not lose chaotics, or divine, or dfs, or even a torva plate. For high-wilderness fights, item risk is 100%. Turmoil is never risked. Ice barrage is never risked. Vengeance is never risked. Yet they all add to an account's power, and are all allowed, and none are shown in someone's combat level (the required levels are, but without the quests done, that doesn't matter of course). So why not extremes? Because they push some things over the edge? Turmoil does the same thing. Vengeance makes certain comboes suddenly viable. Ice barrage (&co) suddenly make magic viable.
  6. Runecrafting for elite diaries. Farming is quick, easy and free. Do torstol, it's more reliable than tds for profit.
  7. The current situation is only relevant to how it should be in how hard it would be to adjust. Adding extremes wouldn't take much besides special recovers, removing special attacks would be somewhat harder but still doable. I think a wilderness with everything but special attacks > a wilderness with everything besides extremes as KO potential goes.
  8. Good fun but please less bold font. Good guide though. 1) Tactician is no good. 2) Add that you should look in your keyer's inventory to see what keys they have, especially if you're going off opening doors when there are no gds to do.
  9. how would that be agianst his code it dosnt involve trading other then with npcs and he does that already Both Conquest and Pest Control require interaction with other players.
  10. Zarfot did prayer with dragon bones the old fashioned use on altar one by one method. He got 200m barely a week before auto offer came out which majorly slowed it down. Frost dragon bones are a little more expensive right now, not much slower than the old way, and much more relaxed. Short-term, Zarfot had a small advantage, but 200m prayer now is far more relaxed.
  11. Not made worse, perhaps. But why extremes and not special attacks? Removing special attacks would be the more obvious choice imo.
  12. Hmmm how big of a jump is it?
  13. Would you consider getting void to be against your code?
  14. When you die with chaotics, you lose them, so they are balanced by risk. Extremes aren't balanced in any way. You keep 1 item, correct? You can get smited out, but I think it should be quite possible to keep a chaotic for a long time. Extremes are balanced by cost (which is an issue, most pures won't bother to get them, similar to how turmoil pures are not the norm). Also, items like defenders, korasi's etcetera are all extremely cheap and could be considered unbalanced.
  15. Again, the biggest reason isn't that it doesn't affect combat level(although they should if they are allowed), but that they would effectively kill pvp combat in that DPS will be times higher than what you can heal, resulting in everything about wildy being about luck. So why remove extremes? Why not remove all special attacks and all items with level requirements above 60? Or how about a flat damage reduction? Any damage you do to other players is reduced by 50%, period. Other games have used this to solve issues where strong enemies have many times the health of players, so what is acceptable DPS against monsters is not acceptable against players. If jagex can fix the problems, sure, i can see extremes being a vital part of the wilderness, assuming they also give combat levels. Unless they can do that(and i haven't seen anything yet), removing extremes from the wilderness is an easy solution to the problem. I don't think disallowing extremes would be really fix the problem, as only special recovers seem to be quite powerful. I would think the removal of chaotics and (= along with) other untradeables would be more sensible.
  16. I think you're confusing elitist and efficient ;-). Though the two may intersect, I very much doubt that every elitist is efficient and vice versa.
  17. Yep I second above. I would get rapier then maul, though the crossbow is also very good. @Bassy: the thread more or less sums up: rapier, then maul, as melee weapons go. CLS gets you more girls (<I disagree personally, but Gremmy's test were quite conclusive).
  18. Quyneax replied to Content's topic in Help and Advice
Tazzy's average is pretty normal I think, as it doesn't take into account visage drops (depending on drop rate, it's 2-4k per kill added). With a perfect setup, high-attention luring and looting, a yak and rigour w/ handcannon, you should be able to go over 3m/hr even with bone prices as low as they are (however including visage).
  19. How is it elitist to want to maximise xp/hr...? I don't block tasks, then again I don't slay much. But mostly every task can be done fairly well now, if you know how. For example black dragons, steels & miths are good effigies, waterfiends are quite fast in the chaos tunnels with an iron/steel titan, wyverns are good crimsons (though slow), terror dogs and suqahs are just quick points tasks... That being said, for faster xp, effigies, money and/or charms, you should probably block some things. Vex has an example task list here.
  20. I would be happy to see extremes banned, along with all quest-based/dg-based/minigame-based items (dscims, korasi's, dds, neit, berserker helmet, chaotics, torso, anything else you can't use without the quest/is untradeable) as they all require non-combat stats not taken into account with combat levels. That was sarcasm by the way. IMO extremes and chaotics are both part of your account and should be allowed.
  21. Slayer is not the best melee xp but the best overall xp with slayer xp that also includes good melee xp. E.g. slayer is only the best if you value slayer xp. [hide] The base slayer gear is as follows (alternatives in brackets): [For all slayer monsters except those mentioned under other weapons] Chaotic rapier (whip) Bandos body + legs (Verac's skirt with either fighter torso or proselyte top) [Depending on prayer/accuracy needs] Fire cape/Soul Wars cape/Ardougne cloak 3 Barrows gloves (your best rfd gloves, at least rune) Dragon boots (rune boots) Amulet of fury (glory) Dragon defender (rune defender) Berserker ring (i)/ferocious ring if slaying in Kuradal's Dungeon (berserker ring, warrior ring) [Most important] Full slayer helmet. [For magic defence on waterfiends/aquanites] Karil's top and elite void skirt (black dragonhide body and chaps) [Crush attacks to use on waterfiends] Chaotic maul (Saradomin sword, Zamorakian spear) [stab attacks for higher-levelled dragons, when not using rapier] Korasi's sword (Zamorakian spear, leaf-bladed sword) Task-specific items such as mirror shields, antifire shields/potions, elemental shields, rock hammers, crystal chimes Cannon (optional, up to personal preference) Slayer setups generally emphasise strength bonus, which increases the average damage of each succesful hit (slayer monsters usually having rather low defence, hitting is not a problem). Secondly, prayer bonus is important to keep the cost of prayer potions down (as you slay with piety on, to increase the speed of your kills. This is cost-effective and highly recommended). As a rule of thumb, +15 prayer bonus or above is good, but don't overdo it (anything above +25 is a waste). Defence and accuracy bonus are usually not fretted over (any defence bonus over 200 will do; if you get hit too often you should be using a protection prayer). Dagganoth, black demon, lesser demon, hellhound, bloodveld and spectre tasks should be cannoned, as it dramatically increases xp rates (although it costs a bit). Some notes on gear: You'll want a fury and a berserker ring before you get bandos plate, and get that before tassets. You'll want accuracy bonus on higher-levelled dragons; if using stab attacks (which you should) you can use the Ardougne cloak 3 which provides you with +6 stab and +6 prayer bonus. Torso + sw cape and fire cape + proselyte are common cheap top/cape combinations; the former is better. Some levels to get for slayer (in approximate order but I'm not sure on the summoning): 68 summoning - bunyip 81 dungeoneering (you need 2 million xp, which takes you to level 80, but allowing some tokens for the scroll of life) - rapier 89 herblore (85 with a +4 stew boost) - extreme potions, superantifires 95 prayer - turmoil and soul split 88 summoning - unicorn 96 herblore (91 with a +5 stew boost) - overload 99 summoning - steel titan I'm sure I missed something but this is most of it. [/hide] In your case, get a berserker ring and save up for a fury (also use money on summoning of course). Unless you go for a chaotic, the whip will still be the best weapon. I recommend you sell Torag's and get Verac's skirt and either a fighter torso or a proselyte hauberk. The items Squab mentioned are the hexcrest and focus sight.
  22. They don't heal while attacking, right? They just alternate healing and attacking (that's how I understood the question).
  23. 60 prayer is low because you can't use piety ;-).
  24. Don't kill them, the first source is wrong afaik, you can still tank them.
  25. [hide] How did you come up with that conclusion? We all know of your hatred towards reasonable math so your conclusion that you need primal top and legs came from..... ? Don't worry if I have a hatred of "reasonable" math (truely laughable), because your opinion lacks any whatsoever along with any proof that prom plate is better than blood necklace. Now, I call tanking something when I can manage to avoid 8+ hits out of 10. Not when running around naked praying this and that and calling for help when one sees a guardian door room loaded to the brim in lvl 128 fruit bats. Just a primal plate gets you high 200s in defense accross the board. (minus crush a staple of many monsters) Lets face it your going to get hit half the time and you my as well pray to the god of 20 minute dungeons to save you a few deaths. Binding primal armour just saves you time in making it. Now if you want to actually tank, you need body, legs, and shield. (helm is pro) You really need 400+ in a stat to tank 128 zombie axe throwers or 150-180 undead meleers or anything of the highest order. (You my aswell just pray if you don't load up) 500+ defense with a blood necklace is what I always shoot for. I call it dungeon sweeper mode. Now I can make a statement with all them miss shields covering me in head to toe. Just wade on into a crowd of enemies and watch the little red 40s pop up everywhere. While the crowd of a naked hoods stands outside the door wondering who is going to go into that guardian room with 5 128 zombies and a pair of 100+ necros and take care of business, I'm taking heads off and spitting down zombie throats. Merc room, no problem, you just stay out, Dungeon Sweeper can handle that with a little mage prayer. Summoning room, somebody get some entangles and get that bloodrager off me and you won't even have to feed me. Things you can't tank. The big 140+ brutes and the lvl 300+ giant npcs. Well you can but it can get ughly if you afk clear guardian doors like The Dungeon Sweeper. Too late. [/hide] I may not totally agree with this, but hey it's funny . Eh, ot: too many binds would make dg too easy. If you had 3-4 binds by the time you got warped, the difficulty should be increased.
