  1. As above has said, don't range. Melee defence and protect from magic is the way to go. Just whack the queen with Korasi's sword and spec when she shakes. Use piety and stuff, potting defence would also help. Bring a unicorn or bob with food.
  2. [hide] The base slayer gear is as follows (alternatives in brackets): [For all slayer monsters except those mentioned under other weapons] Chaotic rapier (whip) Bandos body + legs (Verac's skirt with either fighter torso or proselyte top) [Depending on prayer/accuracy needs] Fire cape/Soul Wars cape/Ardougne cloak 3 Barrows gloves (your best rfd gloves, at least rune) Dragon boots (rune boots) Amulet of fury (glory) Dragon defender Berserker ring (i)/ferocious ring if slaying in Kuradal's Dungeon (berserker ring, warrior ring) [Most important] Full slayer helmet. [For magic defence on waterfiends/aquanites] Karil's top and elite void skirt (black dragonhide body and chaps) [Crush attacks to use on waterfiends] Chaotic maul (Saradomin sword, Zamorakian spear) [stab attacks for higher-levelled dragons, when not using rapier] Korasi's sword (Zamorakian spear, leaf-bladed sword) Task-specific items such as mirror shields, antifire shields/potions, elemental shields, rock hammers, crystal chimes Cannon (optional, up to personal preference) Slayer setups generally emphasise strength bonus, which increases the average damage of each succesful hit (slayer monsters usually having rather low defence, hitting is not a problem). Secondly, prayer bonus is important to keep the cost of prayer potions down (as you slay with piety on, to increase the speed of your kills. This is cost-effective and highly recommended). As a rule of thumb, +15 prayer bonus or above is good, but don't overdo it (anything above +25 is a waste). Defence and accuracy bonus are usually not fretted over (any defence bonus over 200 will do; if you get hit too often you should be using a protection prayer). Dagganoth, black demon, lesser demon, hellhound, bloodveld and spectre tasks should be cannoned, as it dramatically increases xp rates (although it costs a bit). Some notes on gear: You'll want a fury and a berserker ring before you get bandos plate, and get that before tassets. You'll want accuracy bonus on higher-levelled dragons; if using stab attacks (which you should) you can use the Ardougne cloak 3 which provides you with +6 stab and +6 prayer bonus. Torso + sw cape and fire cape + proselyte are common cheap top/cape combinations; the former is better. Some levels to get for slayer (in approximate order but I'm not sure on the summoning): 68 summoning - bunyip 81 dungeoneering (you need 2 million xp, which takes you to level 80, but allowing some tokens for the scroll of life) - rapier 89 herblore (85 with a +4 stew boost) - extreme potions, superantifires 95 prayer - turmoil and soul split 88 summoning - unicorn 96 herblore (91 with a +5 stew boost) - overload 99 summoning - steel titan I'm sure I missed something but this is most of it. [/hide] I support your plan, sounds like a good way to get into bosshunting a bit. Farm on the side.
  3. Ice Strykewyrms. Right, right, you got me :P. @Nifflin: Of course I meant multi-target barraging, lol. Single-target barrage is indeed a bit overpayment.
  4. The annoying thing about battle robes is that you need to take them off for luring, or they'll degrade. So yeah, you got to bring proselyte/monk's robes and a mitre for luring, which isn't ideal because of the weight and space. Then again, 15 ppots + sgs lasts for a very long time and it's extremely boring, so yeah.
  5. The sooner you get berserker (i) the more you profit. It can either save you a few hours to 99 melees or none at all.
  6. Merry new year dears, behave now will you.
  7. Get turmoil. Even better of a boost, and provides healing. Pretty good stuff.
  8. Cleaning herbs sometimes profits but the market may be unstable with free trade and stuff. Making unf pots with the scroll of cleansing is even more profit, going as high as 2m/hr. Otherwise, farming, running sinister keys (doublecheck prices) and picking up certain spawns, as Vex mentioned. Merry new year, skilling is bad money besides farming. I made 17m/hr (for 4.5 minutes :P).
  9. Eh, max mage gear: Arcstream, sol/cstaff, arcane, ahrim's, 3rd age mage hat, infinity boots, barrows gloves, mage arena cape. If you want a little more prayer bonus, mitre and ardy 3 are good items to switch to. Use EEE and bunyip/unicorn or soul split. Wolpertinger and a bunch of scrolls or ovl + eee.
  10. That assumes you have a finite amount of tokens, and will never get more. I will always have enough to recharge chaotic, so tokens are NOT worth the 90gp/ea they are said to have. Another thing to factor. Yes, it's probably worth getting once you've got all rewards you actually need (you only use so much chaotic per day anyway, I guess).
  11. Ooglog pool boost hunter by 8. That gives you 4 mins to catch a bunch of the igneous, per dip.

That makes an hour of aviansies + an hour of chinning around break-even and 300-350k ranged xp. Or you could take two hours of chinning (500-600k xp) and do an hour of barrows or unlock frosts and range those or something.
  13. Weirdo. Anyway Obt has a way of writing it down that makes me think we can publish this blog in dead tree format. I DON'T GET WHAT'S WEIRD AROUSAL IS ONLY HUMAN! Usually it's a reaction to something, say, fun? >implying Obt's blog is not fun. You Gtfo Good sir MADAM! >implying that I meant the kind of fun you are thinking about. Right.
  14. Going up the altar takes time, too, and ppots do last quite a while. You need to farm anyway. Death loss is higher on az's because of their low hp (one good hit is a near kill) and because of the damage bonus. A direct xp bonus is more attractive. Also, dharoking would be done on the melee lrc only, which is possible if you don't cannon.

  16. Salve (e) is 20% attack and strength, but you lose fury and the added attack usually isn't much of an issue on training monsters anyway. 13% is huge considering that LRC have the lp they do, which really cuts down on death loss, allowing effective dharoking.
  17. Magic is never close to melee in kill speed, assuming you have rougly equal gear, that's for sure. Unless you can barrage something.
  18. If you need 2m xp, and you're getting perhaps 50k per large on average across those levels, at one hour per large, you'd take 40 hours excl. c1, and w117 may take more than one hour and you may get less xp, idk.
  19. How high have you managed on this thread?

  21. Aeil said: "99 spending lots of money killing things slower than melee". E.g. 99 mage through slayer. I think you'd be better off barraging lobsters (bursting for now) because that would get you summoning as well, and it's actually faster than melee :P.

  23. I use void when bursting/barraging because it saves me from buying 10m in mage gear (mage's book/Ahrim's skirt) and offers the same magic accuracy as the Ahrim's setup. It also has nice ranged defence compared to Ahrim's (unless you use arcane) and that helps a bit with the dagganoth.

It would be fastere to chin it all, but more expensive.
