  1. General guidelines: 2h > 1h Higher tier > lower tier Correct weakness > other styles So on a crush weak monster, use a maul. On a bolt weak monster, use a royal crossbow. On fire weak monsters, use a chaotic staff with fire surge. Sometimes a style has no high-tier weapon, for example there is no tier 76-80 thrown weapon*. The generic weakness is the next best thing, any ranged instead of thrown. Then, on a throwing weak monster, use a zaryte bow or royal crossbow. On a slash weak monster, use a maul. Sometimes, a style is unavailable altogether, for example when dungeoneering you might have only two styles. The combat triangle: Ranged > Magic > Melee > Ranged Ranged = Ranged, Magic = Magic, Melee = Melee So on a slash weak monster, use ranged. On a bolt weak monster, use magic. On a fire weak monster, use melee. *Morrigan's javelins are still bloody expensive, don't bother. tl;dr maul royal crossbow cstaff God Wars equipment > Barrows equipment Max crit bonus
  2. Quests are definitely a good way to go for early levels. Look at: Witch Potion, Restless Ghost, Cook's Assistant, Rune Mysteries etc. for quick and easy quests. They require a bit of travelling in the general F2P area. Also do: Doric's Quest (gets you level 10 mining) - requires 2 iron, 4 copper and 6 clay. The Knight's Sword (gets you level 27? smithing) - requires 10 mining and an iron bar. Waterfall Quest, Vampire Slayer, Demon Slayer, Holy Grail - combat xp.
  3. Doric's Quest and the Knight's Sword are good ones, also after Waterfall quest you can go for Vampire Slayer, Demon Slayer and Holy Grail.
  4. He isn't in mine. Did you reload the port already?
  5. This would change how lower levelled equipment is handled: Ex. fast 1h comparison 70 att 70 str: 857+70 damage 80 att 80 str: 980+80 damage 90 att 90 str: 1102+90 damage Now with your system: 647+280 740+320 832+360 Which is a better weapon vs strength balance imo. Looking at uneven distribution: 70 att 90 str, old vs new: 857+90 = 947 647+360 = 1007 90 att 70 str, old vs new: 1102+70 = 1172 832+280 = 1112 The difference isn't exactly huge, but still 4-5% or so. Actually not a bad thing, prolongs lifetime of your old weapons a little bit. Easiest way to make strength viable is to make it work for ranged and magic as well of course. I would be in favour of that, provided you could train strength with all three of course, because it removes the inequality of ranged and magic having only one skill to train. For ranged especially this makes it much easier to get up to good dps. My preferred method is still a multiplier system like we had pre-EoC though, I like the old (x + equipment bonus) / x * (y + level) because any level boost also affects equipment straight away and vice versa, so you could have 100/80 strength (with say y=20) and get straight-up 20% dps boost, rather than +80 straight max hit. +20% damage is always the same, +80 damage is different depending on what weapon you use.
  6. Quests to do: Everything! For the new grandmaster quest coming this month, you'll basically need all of them anyway, so go for it. Questing is always good. Dungeoneering would be a good way for you to train attack and get a nice tier 80 weapon as well, which should help you all-round. Farming is a good one to get started on because it's profitable. Player-owned Ports is a good one to start, it's a long-term activity that makes money & provides you with tier 85 armour. You can access it with your 91 fishing. Getting all skills to 50+, 60+, 70+ etc. is never a bad idea.
  7. Making the CW requirement ticket-based won't make CW competetive the way you want. On the one hand, you have maxed players crushing lower levels. That's already an issue in SW, it won't be as prominent in CW (cades) but still. On the other hand, you have 1vMule boosting (multilog or no) and 2v1 boosting, for 6/3 and 4/3 tickets/games respectively. W24 might lose some loafers, but I don't see the game getting any better. Edit: To clarify: loafing is a problem because of how big the CW requirement is, not a problem of whether you need wins or not. Also: higher levels crushing lower levels is not because they are much stronger level-wise, but because they can typically afford to use overloads, titan etc. every game and have access to many more special items. Someone with turm/ovl/titan/full hybrid/zaryte/comp cape counts the same as any 200 cb person for CW purposes.
  8. I started Pincers with ~80k chimes and went as low as ~10k chimes, but never had too few of them, so it's doable. If you have a bad steel/chime ratio you can always gather some jade/slate and get the steel shipwright/lodgings for max port score.
  9. You can send one of them off for an xp mission (yes waste, but ok) and the other one will be rerolled to possibly give you a scroll. Still, sucks :S.
  10. One suggestion on the thread was any one profound item being enough, which is 650 tickets for the helmet. That would be... hell, but doable. Funny thing that 650 tickets would be 'doable' when that actually takes 135 hours minimum.
  11. Yeah, those people need to get lost :P. No offence, but I think it's really crazy that the requirement is so big time-wise, and I haven't seen anyone who wasn't close to getting it in favour. Quite a few people who are close are against it though. No more than a few hundred players, if that, would say the 5k requirement is good, clean fun and/or a solid design decision. Basically all of trimmed comp, including levels and everything, is 30% Castle Wars or more, if you do everything efficiently. That needs to be brought down to 5% or less, it's only one friggin minigame.
  12. Imo the problem with requiring wins is that you either require all trimmers on one team, fighting the noobs, or trimmers will get worse than 2/3 win rate (due to power being evenly spread), which would make private games more attractive, which doesn't encourage legitimate playing at all. 2v1 boosting or 1v1 boosting with multilogging are both much more attractive.
  13. "A tier of equipment" If that's Intricate or Profound, they basically took a horrible, really bad and pointless requirement and made it really bad and pointless. Hybrid is fine. I guess detailed is doable, though it's still stupidly long, longer even than MA, and that actually has usable rewards. No way people are going to play legit, not when you can just 2v1 boost for 4 tickets/3 games. FYI, CW armour tiers scale: 6 hours 60 hours 625 hours 865 hours That is pure wins, for the whole armour set.
  14. If you wanted to get good armour early, you should look into starting a Pest Control clan :P. Solves your black d'hide/Karil's problems.

Spirit shields are 30% damage reduction, not 25%. Moving on... I'd get the staff, because it's actually the best at something, that being dps versus high def (assuming vwand is out of the question). Of all the dg shields fsk is probably the best, because magic and ranged benefit so much from 2h weapons.
  16. Shows they have to code each instance of degrading separately, which seems very sloppy to me.
  17. I think you mean the word viable, not visible, and the meaning worthwhile, not viable, nor visible, but anyway... Yes, while attack increases your dps (and it is worth levelling), it is by no means a good idea to get 80 attack before slaying, because you start slayer fighting low def monsters anyway. It won't help you do Barrows very much either, compared to the same time spent levelling magic - that is until you hit 94 magic/ice barrage (maybe blitz, but you do need both attack and strength to lift melee dps). Considering that 1-99 slayer will get you 1-99 atk/def/str/range as well, and early whips will be very valuable, there's good cause to start slayer before you hit 80 or even 70 attack.

No way to mass target, but richochet/chain and familiar can help a bit. For low-health monsters you can basically forget about cannon. I don't know if accuracy is still tied to weapon but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it is, so try your sol/abs and see if that works?
  19. OP: 45 ranged. Probably no void. Incendiary shot: 66 ranged - 40% of lp in one hit. Void: +10% damage (presumably also accuracy). Time to get full adren - shorter than incendiary shot cd (60s). Total time for fight: sub 10 mins.
  20. It's a gilded altar dammit! Just try bleeping covering an altar in thin leaves of guild. Or guilt or whatever. I think duel arena to 40 attack and starting slayer at 80 att 90 str is ridiculous. For one, there are no weapons past 70 attack, so attack levels are nearly useless, and without whip/barrows you can basically stay with dragon. Dscim will be an important one. Realistically, I think you'll be looking at starting with farming & combat to get up to full rune and questing for MTK, dscim/rune defender etc.. You want to unlock some precious resources (for slayer/barrows and smithing/crafting/runecrafting as well) quickly, so herbs for pray pots & super sets, MTK for a lot of resources as well. To fuel MTK you need cash, which I think you can get best from alching especially early on, so natures from shops & alch drops and fletched bows and such. Barrows can be done with just 55 magic, 50 ranged and 43 prayer (tunnels would be a problem in monks robes, bring some rune armour I guess). Void will be hard to get I think, with no higher levels to power through games, but if you can win a lot it'd be a good option for mid-range combat.
  21. If you can't kill him using your composite ogre bow with rune brutal arrows, eagle eye, ranged potions, ranged top/legs and your best abilities, you may need to level up a bit.
  22. What I would consider the minimum is tier 80 weapons (royal & maul) with void. Tanks need much better defensive gear, so arcane + gano for cheap & only requiring level 75 def (arc is only 30m now, that's comparable to GWD top+legs). Then you want all your useful dps abilities, like assault, rapid fire etc. but those are all unlocked by having 80 att/range and a few strength levels. Similarly, all tank abilities are unlocked by the time you're 75 def anyway. You want dps boosting prayers and potions, so ideally ovl/turm, but piety/rigour and supers would work. I'd still recommend extremes though. Finally, to carry some more supplies, a war tortoise. Now I'm not saying you'll get fast kills or high gp/h, but it *should* be doable with enough people. This is obviously not a duo-based set of requirements, bring a bunch of friends.
  23. No clue about gp/h because I don't know the real price of limbs. I can see no reason they would be valuable, for two reasons: 1) Tier 60 equipment sucks. 2) Red salamanders are cheap and just as good. Your stats & void don't matter too much anyway, it's all about weapons. But assuming t80 weapons and decent skill, I imagine 40-50 kph should be doable.
  24. For fast charms you can try waterfiends (ranged) or dagannoths in the first room at Waterbirth, with the upgraded Balmung. @MotherBrain: 99 combats aren't so useful at all, the things that matter are equipment, abilities, turm/ovl, bunyip+tacklebox/uni/yak/titan and skill. The difference between 80 and 99 strength on drygores is not quite 2% dps, and even less on mauls.
