  1. Haven't read it yet :(. Need to get it soon. Finished Hyu-Ji #3, up to 122 laquer now, also got superior Tetsu plate. Sold a good bit of unused equipment (steads and arc too, shame about arc but without a wand it's nothing) to get zaryte. Zaryte's more fun for CW/SW anyway :P. Edit: Zaryte's nice, tetsu plate predictably meh (but looks nice). Getting 35-40k damage per PC game fairly consistently. Also, went hunting Nex for the first time ever (thanks Oct/Gwyn/Amb/Qck). I can do so little damage I don't even get xp >.>. But at least I didn't die. And next time I might be brave enough to use tetsu or something.
  2. I do wonder what you're hoping to merchant, and what with, with everyone starting at nothing. Then again that might be the challenge.
  3. I would be very excited to see the economy form from scratch, but I don't want to play 2007scape myself :P. Not opposed to the idea, but I won't be signing the petition (maybe to push it over 750k, but that's it).
  4. I believe that's no (don't need shield)/yes can be assisted. If you do need the shield, it's useless anyway, 2h is much better :P.
  5. At your magic & prayer level, try blood blitz and vampirism aura (if possible). Along with protect prayers and bunyip that should be enough - bring raw food and bunyip scrolls to heal. When you hit 95 prayer, soul split can support you for the most part. Attacking the glacor, use a high tier weapon - Armadyl battlestaff at the least. I've tried a kill with arcane and master wand and it took forever. Avoid the two specials: big spike attack (just move a square) and the Unstable glacyte (also just move a square). Kill the glacytes in this order: Enduring, Sapping, Unstable.
  6. Moved to Rants. I'm afraid that discussion about you being bored of RS is not a matter for GD ;). If you want to make a topic discussing the quality/morality/whatever of the game in its current state, feel free to do so, but please with arguments (topic's touchy enough as-is).
  7. I'm not sure how much of your post is a reply to mine :P. I'm just saying that the armour user will try for the cheapest repairs/replacements. Kits can't rise above armour, because people would just buy new sets of armour. A set of armour is a (near) perfect substitute for a repair kit. Armour can rise above kits, because they can't be substituted - 3 repair kits don't make a tetsu plate. But since armour and kits share their basic resource - voyages - there is a link and armour can't rise too far, because people would be saving their resources for armour exclusively. I am definitely not suggesting that either armour or kits would eventually drop to zero, I am saying that kits are a needless complication of ports armour because the overall profit will neither increase not decrease. Experience with Shards of Armadyl shows that the price difference between short-term profit (dust) and long-term profit (staff) is fairly small, and either can be the most profitable at a given time. This is pre-EoC of course as runes are now useless.
  8. With clues, lower levelled ones used to be the better profit, but since pages are now useless I'm not sure if that's still the case. Either way, guards are good for level 2 clues, for level 1 clues just kill goblins or men or something. Level 3/4, iron/steel/mith if your mage level allows?
  9. You kind of need higher prayer/herblore to start Nexing, until then stick with glacors. Farming torstol is great too, work on farming. I think lantadyme and dwarf weed are pretty profitable these days.
  10. Don't forget the 12 hours includes time spent in combat stance after a kill, and goes in 6s increments. Using Surge/Anticipation etc. by itself takes 18s off the timer. I personally prefer the tick-based system which is 100% straightforward - a tick hitting or being hit counts as combat, anything else doesn't. The whole combat stance thing annoys me a lot anyway, the way it interrupts various interfaces, it was implemented far too rigorously. Anyway, unrelated to that, failed the 42nd story mission :(.
  11. Very nice, thanks :). The increase from 80 to 81 is massive :o. It'd (almost) be better to stay at granite with those rates. Ports: sent out Hyu-Ji #3, 700 steel, 5 chi (all with merchant), all failed. Meh. Rolled two more 700 steel missions, so hoping for another shot at the story tomorrow.
  12. I think all Forsaken are taken by now, not sure :(. I do dg challenges, some trim reqs (Flingers, ancient pages), someday Livid (but I have Trollheim teleport so meh), some hybrid-hunting, herb runs and Ports. Exciting :P.
  13. Congratulations :). The mod in charge has recognized that removing/reducing the 5k req is the best way to combat loafers. Not sure if it's best as in nicest or in most effective.
  14. I don't think saying 'PoP armour is meant for people who can't afford Nex equipment' is right. PoP armour is supposed to be tier 85 equipment, for everyone. If you think the requirement isn't steep enough (for the armour to be t85), that's fine, but point still is that for tier 85 armour, PoP armour has ridiculously few uses and is at the moment less useful than lower-tier equipment. tl;dr If you want to rebalance, make ports harder, not pop armour suckier. (also in my earlier skills comparison I forgot that you also need 90 crafting and smithing to actually make lotus/tetsu - 8 ports skills, of which 3 mandatory to craft and 2 more practically mandatory to obtain trade goods).
  15. You can't just ignore the set damage boost. Right now, Ports armour will be at +14 damage (Nex boots and gloves) while Nex armour will be at +74. The difference of +60 is a little over 3% of your chaotic maul base damage (60/1941), or almost 5% boost (60/1215) to your drygore rapier which is a much better weapon in places where Ports armour is even worth considering. I'm not sure how the damage is added to off-hands. I don't see the next tier (90) boss being better with ports armour, considering that void still rules Nex and KK, KK being tier 90 I should think. On the subject of time taken to get Ports armour: Take a character maxed for bossing (max combats, all relevant spells/abilities/quests/equipment unlocked) with otherwise base 80 stats and no Ports armour. You can do Ports starting at 90 prayer, certainly. Slayer and herblore are likely candidate for pvm-focused players as well. But runecrafting, thieving, fishing? Getting those stats 80-90 for Ports alone is ~3.3m xp in those skills, amounting to 30+ hours each for fishing and runecrafting alone. Without runecrafting and fishing, your aquisition of plate and chi will be slowed tremendously. Most days, you don't even roll a particular resource from regular voyages. Gathering armour would take months. The total real time taken might not be very long compared to, say, 25 hours of MA. It'll still be quite a few hours, especially considering you'll be waiting for voyages to return (and there will be a few minutes between them all the time, random component takes care of that). Your daily crew/voyage review, checking the ships, random event and such - the total is easily an hour or two per week. The time it takes from start to finish is important and determines difficulty, because people can never give up for all that time. Farming, for example, is considered a fairly tough skill to max even though it is both fast and profitable. The same thing is true for Shattered Heart and such.
  16. Individually as well as with the set, Nex boots/gloves are better. You don't need the additional armour from glacor boots, nor the single digit damage reflect from DT gloves. The prayer and damage bonus as well as non-degradng of Nex boots/gloves is just a lot more useful.
  17. 112 dg, rolled second Hyu-Ji triple.
  18. Berserker is now an all-round ring with armour, use warrior for melee. Imbued onyx is better than berserker if you want an all-round ring. Spirit shields are great for tanks, but otherwise not so good. That goes for all shields. Cstaff would still have the accuracy advantage over Ahrim's wand, so for glacors it'd be better (worse than vwand + book). For tanking, arc + wand is good. Nex boots/gloves are better than glacor/dominion tower because of the damage boost. Ports armour is useless, being both very expensive to repair and (at best) equal to Nex equipment, but usually worse. Maul is better than dual drygores for things that you don't need the accuracy on.
  19. Yep it does :(. Can confirm that stories give no distance. You still want to do stories over xp missions of course, and if you want armour asap you should go for stories in the Bowl so you can get your Pincers/25 trade good voyages in quickly.
  20. Sweet, thanks! Great opportunity to fine tune my current crew as well. I think it's best to rush to the next region at all times. No point hanging around the lower regions, Scythe+ is where it's at (trade good wise).
  21. I would go with the general rule of +5 levels = +1 strength vs weakness, with the following tiers: +0 = melee vs arrow weak (melee vs mage) +1 = melee vs magic weak (melee vs melee) +2 = slash vs crush weak (wrong melee vs range) +3 = slash vs slash weak (right melee vs range) So, when fighting a slash-weak ranger, weaknesses are ordered as follows: Slash > stab/crush > ranged > magic. Tier 70 slash = tier 75 slash/crush = tier 80 ranged = tier 85 magic. However, I think the actual defence difference is equivalent to less than 5 levels worth of accuracy increase. Maybe it should be +3 or +4 only. There aren't any tiers at 73/76/79/82 though of course, that's why I picked 5. This model is mostly to show the kind of reasoning that allows you to tell which weapon is better.

I've tried this as well as magic and magic is a good bit faster and it's easier to survive with because of that.
  23. You probably can, I'd use ranged, royal crossbow, royal dragonhide, royal bolts.
  24. Quyneax replied to mlskid's topic in Help and Advice
Void mage with your highest critical chance (imbued seers and stuff). Cstaff or abs. Bring runes for the spell they're weak to (miths are earth, steel/iron water), e.g. elemental + air if not abs. Yak scrolls if applicable. Unicorn otherwise (not sure if you need much healing, safespotting should work). 3 overload, 3 superantifire, 3 prayer renewals, lots of pray pots (~12?). If no overloads, extreme mage works fine too, or worst-case Vecna's with two regular mage pots. Miths will probably be too hard without ss. For iron/steel the matter is safespotting them. If that's easy, you can try cannoning them as well, inventory-wise you'll need another 5 spaces for cannon, so either 40 minute trips, flasks or bring a bob.
  25. Update! Bought Golden Katana hull (it's not gold). Got a 10k seafaring captain with seafarer & lookout (+1% speed). With 3 combat 1 morale 1 seafaring captain, I only want to replace one combat with one morale/seafaring. The traits on all except the morale captain are not perfect either (want 4*+100 traits) but that can't be helped for now. Been killing miths for ancient pages, not much luck so far, I'm at 12 or 13 pages iirc, but most are from skeletons. Maul is a good bit slower than earth surge w/ ccs, but it does get alright kph. You use more food. Hitting constant 4ks with berserk is awesome though. Three days to 112 dg challenges only. Edit: sent Assault on Paradise at about 76% (Fortune of the Seas, eight +10% items). Should be 71 bones/chi (or fail). Editedit: Quin is dead. Up to 110 bones 52 chi now, and got a superior Seasinger robe top.
