  1. Do floors in the CC, if people like your attitude and you've shown you know our guidelines well, you'll get a recruit rank. And or you can do some research, you can get a rank too. From there, you can apply to get reviewed by the admins. We don't stop non-ranks from DGing with us. But we do expect anybody using our CC to recruit, to know the guidelines, and be polite. If they can't do that, they'll get temp/perm banned.
  2. I just copied and pasted all the game update announcements from now to 2008. Ash and Paul just didn't credit themselves very often in those announcements
  3. The poll is limited to 20 options, and neither of those really credit themselves for Content, so i took em out :P.
  4. We added some new stuff right after the RSOF. It might be worth a second look.
  5. Fortunately for us, platebeard is indestructible, thus we will never feel his wrath.
  6. You have +64 invisible strength bonus. So when you punch, you're actually punching with +64 strength bonus, not +0 strength. So if you have +64 equipment bonus, you're actual strength bonus is +128, and you'll do double damage. triple at +128 equipment bonus, quadruple at +192, etc. Your damage goes up 100% of your punching damage every +64 strength bonus. +12.5% of your punching damage for +8 strength bonus. Just keep in mind that the above equation doesn't account for the +5 Rounding Error Relic. And don't forget to credit Obliv for researching the equation. I never knew that and makes much more sense. Do you know how the equation for your Strength level that reflects on how high you can hit? 5+(Strength level + 8)*(Equipment Bonus + 64)/64 So aside from the 5, which is a relic of an old system. Your max hit is proportional to both Your strength level + and invisible 8 strength levels. and Your Equipment Bonus + an invisible 64 strength bonus so you can SORT of think of +8 strength bonus as being the same as 1 strength level not quite though ;) Once again, this is obliv's equation. You can find his page on the RSOF, I take no credit for researching it. But I'm more than happy to explain it.

  8. What? only 1 vote for Tytn? The Primary developer for While Guthix Sleeps? What is this?
  9. I've got a spreadsheet up of all the updates between now and 2008 (about 40% of all Game Update Announcements since Classic) The following, is a list, in alphabetical order, of All Jmods with at least 3 Game update Announcements tied to their name. I personally think that part of the problem of Jagex updates, is that there's not very much feedback as to which Jmod content deveopers I mean sure, everybody loves Mod Chris L, and there's always lots of shouting on the RSOF. But that's not very constructive. And it also lacks a sense of overall awareness. For Video gaming in general, there is very little understanding of just who is making your games. Thus! I present you with this list! Just keep in mind that because an update is listed under a jmod, does not mean they were the only Jmod that worked on the project. 10. I'll put my hand up to keying that 33, which was with 2 non-recruits, the rank and you. It was a spiral map, which was one wayed the ENTIRE map (given one of the non ranks called an 86 rc door as 96, cutting off, literally, 1/2 the map). Also the other rank was afk most the floor. Not really great to include in a sample of 4 floors for the millionth time, our recruit ranks are only ranked based on activity, personality, and contributions to research, not based on DG skill. Very few DGSers are reviewed for DG skill.
  11. When we founded DGS, we asked ourselves what kind of DG clan we'd want. And we decided to target a niche audience. 3BO already targeted the masses. There's no need for another clan like that. And we'll keep focusing on metagame and research because that's what we're good at. As for like, a mutually beneficial discussion, the good 3BO'ers seem too tightly knit to trickle down information to lesser 3BO'ers, much less outsiders. So generally speaking, I'm not particularly inclined to listen to 3BOers on forums or CC. There are good 3BOers, but when I get good advice from them it's always during the middle of a floor or over PMs.
  12. fine 250k an hour lol There's not many players I know that'd settle for any less than 4 mil for an hour of DG xp. Most would only consider it if you paid 8 mil. The vast majority of people capable of earning quick dungeon xp are capable of earning ~3-4 mil gp/hour from frost dragons. And from their perspective, Frost dragons drop effigies and you don't. Generally speaking, if you want to pay people to work for you, you need to earn money faster than those people.
  13. Anybody can participate as a guest. You get promoted to recruit when you're noticed DGing with us frequently, and are well mannered. Good luck.
  14. fun maybe, mith dragons are not something I would recommend killing without max stats and gear though. Profits, there will be very little of that. The dragon full helmet drop rate is notoriously low, and i doubt the draconic visage drop rate is that much better than any other metal dragon.
  15. Research is a major focus of DGS, and we're starting a DG Guide/Databook over at TEF. Normally I collect data on my own, and pay money to a few players to help. But I neither have enough free time on my hands nor enough GP in my bank to put into such a large project. If you would like to volunteer, PLEASE CONTACT ME, through PM preferably. There are details we need to go over before you collect your data. Last thing I want is someone collecting data that ends up being useless. I basically need you to count the # misses and non misses you hit on various monsters The list of monsters we're interested in is here So I actually really need people's help now. Anyone that provides 2000 total data points to the log, or 1000 data points to a single monster in the log, will be given a 2 stripe rank as thanks for their contributions. This does not particularly apply to wingmen and keyer ranks, but I still expect these people help with research as well. I personally will be spending dozens of hours collecting data once I'm done maxing. That being said: Please don't go about collecting data in the middle of larges though, unless the rest of the team is okay with it. And thank you for the help of any volunteers that contribute. And once again: If you would like to volunteer, PLEASE CONTACT ME, through PM preferably. There are details we need to go over before you collect your data. Last thing I want is someone collecting data that ends up being useless.
  16. a full crystal bow is ~2.13% more base DPS than rune xbow and broads. varying very slightly based on ranged level.
  17. Wow. as we can clearly see, Jagex's nyan cat lacks fiber.
  18. lol @ Mod Moltare taking credit for the death hat update.
  19. People seem to be confused by my use of "DPS rating" So here's the same exact graphs calculated to weapon strength bonus instead: if you click the google doc link at the top, you can zoom in, highlight points to see their exact values, etc. as to your second point, they are a function of "DPS rating", which is equal to (Strength bonus + 64)*Attack speed. This number is independent of strength level. If you multiply DPS rating by strength level, then you approximately get your DPS. The rainbow scaling was chosen for 2 reasons: Weapons are always strictly proportional to one another. Rapier is always about 1.2x faster base DPS than 2h. That way weapon balance logic holds out regardless of weapon tier. Secondly, the shape kinda looks like a rainbow (IE is shaped like a arc, instead of like a wave like Jagex did) for the following reason: When you get strength levels, your DPS increases exactly as a factor of: (New Strength Level + 8)/(Previous Strength Level + 8) With the rainbow shape, when your attack level increases, the DPS increase you get as a result of weapons increases by ((New Attack Level + 8)/(Previous Strength Level + 8))^(4/9) Previously, if you were at roughly lvl 40-60 attack/strength, the DPS increase from weapons is the steepest. At around these levels, the benefit you gain from leveling attack is much greater than the relative benefit of leveling attack at say, lvl 99.
  20. Google Doc This is what the DPS ratings of various melee/range weapons in Dungeoneering are: This is what the DPS looks like after 5 minutes on excel, balancing weapons strength bonuses. [spoiler=These two graphs mapped to weapon strength are as follows:] Could do graphs for accuracy ratings of weapons and defense ratings of armors too, but I think you guys get the idea. Range weapons scale very differently from melee weapons. Melee weapons don't scale consistently. Example: If you take a close look, Fractite spear's are better DPS than fractite rapiers, even though pretty much every other tier of rapier outclasses the spear in terms of DPS. Dungeoneering was a step in the right direction with weapon balance. That being said the weapon balancing of DGS still will remind you of some wild crayon sketch from a 2 year old.
  21. based on how runescape's accuracy equation is built, you often need accuracies below on the order of 50% or below, slow, accurate weapon to be effective over fast, but less accurate weapons. Likewise you without enemies that hit you for over 50%, much of the armor available would not be justifiable. In short, Dungeoneering weapons/armors wouldn't be very important if it were not the case that the monsters have higher accuracy and defense than us. It seems the difference stems from equipment bonuses. The majority of monsters outside of daemonheim have 0 equipment bonus. But a few have more of course. But in daemonheim, the opposite is true. The majority of monsters seem to have equipment bonuses, that boost their combat abilities without increasing their combat level. So I haven't found a reason to think that daemonheim monsters are fundamentally coded differently. But that's always a possibility if you can't see the code itself. Mod Mark has stated: But I still doubt there was a fundamental change to how combat levels are calculated in daemonheim.
  22. didn't that research stop a while back cuz vex bought witcher 2? :P
  23. Safespotting always works so long as no one tramples. If a monster is trampled, you can force an untrample by stepping ontop of it while you have the target's agro. I think it's better to suicide rape puzzles unless you're one wayed.
  24. For DPSing: learn to safestep better, learn to manage prayers more effectively, learn when to use the gatestone trick Surviving as DPS-er depends a lot on the team though. We expect a lot of no armor, so basically the speed at which you kill is probably the biggest deciding factor in food consumption. Turmoil flashing will down the monsters before you take too much damage. Of course the whole team has to contribute effectively to DPS. If you're a keyer, sometimes you're just expected to die. If there's a puzzle room with a [cabbage]ton of monsters, it's not really worth clearing them. Just suck up the death that it'll take to clear the puzzle. Also if you're on a long path, you probably won't have time to go grab more food from the team. In which case, the death is also inevitable. don't focus too much on deaths. You should avoid needless deaths. You should also know when deaths are better than taking time to get more food/prayer points though.
