Boston may be in the playoffs, but their team still needs picks seeing as many of their top players are old, and picks are generally useful for acquiring players via trades. Yguy, toronto did make that trade yet they're still not in the playoffs. I think that says a lot when you consider the fact that kessel was supposed to 'completely revolutionize their team'. Well, toronto may be 'revolutionized', but they're still lacking a playoff spot for the 7th straight year.

And in the off-season, should boston trade these 3 picks, they'll help more than kessel ever good. Picks enable weaker teams to get players that they want. If boston does what many are expecting them to do, then expect them to be a top playoff contendor next year. Toronto took kessel, and boston took the playoff spot.

If kessel was so undoubtably great, then why didn't any of the other teams go for him. There were plenty of other teams that could've taken him, but none did. My arguement is based on the sole belief that probability can be used to calculate the chances of 3 picks being better than kessel, and in the longrun, 3 picks will help boston more than kessel will help toronto.

There is no '100% chance of one team beating another team', and vice-versa. Since you attempted to use my arguement against me, I'll do the same for you: let's take your '40% of all picks pan out' idea into my little probability equation. 867x4/10= ~340. Thus meaning that even with your idea, there's still a whopping 340:69 chance of the 3 picks doing better than kessel. You can use this 'universal ratio' in other aspects as well, not just +/-. And taking it into other statistics (ie: scoring/salary), the picks'll almost always win probability-wise. Your little idea of '3 players always being better than 1'. Read my posts next time, then maybe you'll understand the point of my arguement before posting something near-irrelivant.

Faster, you truly surprise me. What you're suggesting is that me and blyaunte are trying to 'predict the future', when in all actuality, we're using simple probability to solve the kessel equation. Let's assume that there are 900 players in the nhl: Kessel's +/- is ranked 867/900, thus meaning that he is better than 32 players. The chance of one rookie obtaining any given one of the +/-'s is 1 in 900. Now, time to do some math: There's a 32 in 900 chance of one rookie having a +/- below kessel's, a 1 in 900 chance of a rookie tieing, and a 867 in 900 chance of 1 rookie having a better +/- than kessel. Multiply it by 3 for 3 picks, and although the overwhelming odds don't change, the ratio does (going from 33:867 to 69:2601). Now, there's still a chance that the rookies will all do worse, but that chance is so miniscule if you factor in probability. This was also using 1 statistic. Using multiple, you'd get a better understanding of how we don't need to see the future to understand why the kessel deal was horrible.

There's a difference between 'beating the game', and 'speeding through to access all the good parts/having battle tower/subway teams pre-built'. Using my method, you generally have your subway team ready by the 7th gym (should you decide to stop and ev for an hour), and all in all, the game only takes around 8 hours to complete (which is pretty quick). Mind you, there's no 'correct way' to beat the game, my way is just faster/more efficient.

Oh, and if you need help deciding on a team, use the tricks I use: 1) For sweepers, base 100 in the offensive stat is manditory. Base 100 speed is also manditory unless they have min 70 in 2 of the 3 defences (those being hp, def, and sp.def). 2) Choose pkmn that have s.e. Stabs against other gyms (ie: excadrill due to his steel stab being s.e. Against the ice gym, and his ground stab being s.e. Against the electric gym). 3) Use your starter creatively: this generally applies to all 4th/5th gen games. Due to the lack of good starters, building teams that don't use your starter are generally better, as it then allows you to use your starter as an hm drone/gives your team better efficiency. Remember: starters are pkmn, and pkmn are tools of war. 4) Use vitamins whenever possible. Things like proteins/hp ups generally help team growth/speedier kills. Oh, and I restarted my ss, and used my totodile as an hm slave. Team consisted of it, crobat, scyther, slowbro, and ditto. Beat the e4 with ease (primarily due to ditto giving s.e. Coverage vs lance).

Palpatoad sucks in general, as aside from poison touch (which guarantees 90% chance of poison on physical contact) its stats are comparable to that of audino.

@sy: the part of the brain that controls pain recepters, iirc, is almost like a 'regulator'. It prevents the pain recepters from going off all the time, as well as activating them when you're supposed to experience pain. Killing it effectively negates both of the tasks it does, meaning that you'll simultaneously experience no pain and the most pain, with each side fighting to maintain control (thereby giving you random amounts of pain/no pain at random intervals). Also, another bodily fun fact: the only organ that does not technically ' bruise' is the brain, primarily due to bruises of the brain being referred to as 'concussions'. Also, the average size of a whale's heart is comparable to the same size of 2 adult cows.

The brain itself has no pain sensors (meaning that you won't feel any pain if your brain gets physically harmed). Also, if you remove the part of the brain that controls pain, the pain recepters of the body go into a state of 'confusion', and end up firing off randomly (meaning that the james bond character 'renard' would've felt random amounts of pain at random intervals, rather than no pain at all. He would've also felt no pain from the bullet travelling slowly through his brain).

The overall-efficiency of the green mods is pretty....poor. I remember yesterday, I was arguing with a friend in the off-topic section about a pretty interesting issue. Charizard will always be outclassed by other fire types though, namely heatran (which can kill the dragon types that resist fire blast), and darma (which can kill pkmn like terakion who'd otherwise ohko chara). Venusaur suffers the same problem, due to the release of virizion and ferro, which make venusaur's use rather limited. Blastoise will always be inferior to milotic/quagsire, no real need to mention'm. Typhlosion has the same fate as charizard, feraligatr is azumarill without the doubled atk stat, and meganium sucks in general. As a grass type, sceptile suffers huge flaws in that grass isn't really useful for physical offense (seeing as aside from tenta, all bulky waters have lower spec.def than def, meaning that they can usually survive a hit then ohko with ice beam). Blaziken, well, it did get a huge boost, but nothing so good as to make it better than its counterpart infernape. Blaziken still lacks fake out, as well as any sort of ability to kill waters outside of solarbeam. And with sturdy now having use, any/all pkmn with the ability effectively become counters to blaziken. Swampert gained a bit in 5th gen (namely, the ability to counter-coat the too-predictable 5th gen). However, swampert also gained an arch-nemesis in quagsire (which, with unaware, is usually better). 5th gen gave us nothing outside of a speedier meganium (serperior), but in all reality, these starters will be banished to uu/nu.

Anyone else noticed the lack of good/competitive starters? Seems that the only good ones were the dppt ones (due to empoleon/torterra's unique typings, and infernape's sweeping abilities). Mind you, after beating the silver/gold remakes w/o my starter, it gave me an intriguing idea for a playthrough: you catch the first 6 different pkmn that you meet and use them as your team, and you cannot use your starter outside of the 'manditory' starting battles. Tried this playthrough idea on my heartgold game, definitely funner than I thought it'd be.

Saw changeling (which, if you haven't heard of it, stars angelina jolie/john malkovich, and revolves around jolie's kid going missing/being returned/her believing that the kid isn't really hers). Gotta admit, it's nice to see the diversity of roles that john malkovich can play /sarcasm/...could've watched johnny english and gotten the gist of his role/accent.
