  1. I'll try to offer some insight for methodology on this one. The way I structure my bank is as follows: plan out my goals for the next six months-one year and only keep items relevant to those goals, as well as essential non-tradables.
  2. At 81+, the best method is hunting draconic/common jadinko's in herblore habitat. In the mid 80s, the experience is around 200k exp/hr, however, at 99 it jumps up to 275-290k.   3. A bit off topic, but I've been curious if remote farming is actually worth the time. Assuming a 10% death rate, your saving an average of 165k per 80 minutes for three casts of a spell that takes many hours to acquire.
  4. At 86, I'm about 200k exp/hr (+/- a few %) with Hunter potions(they're worth using since a dose only costs ~30-40 gp), Zamorak's Favors and an arctic bear. Although, I'm not sure that Zamorak's favors would work over the bxpw [though I wouldn't train hunter during it, since you'll save no money.]
  5. I honestly take very little damage from WFS. Bunyip is enough to keep up. As I recall, it's better to use a fighting familiar in the chaos tunnels, though I could be wrong. I don't have soul split yet, so it became very difficult to kill them there and keep health up, but I'm sure with soul split it would be better. Once you have turmoil, piety is pretty useless. That being said, if you don't have turmoil yet then using piety is obviously worth sacrificing deflect prayers.
  6. I'd suggest looking on the RSOF under the technical problems/support subforum. I'd bet someone else has the same problem, and hopefully a solution.
  7. This has nothing to do with it. He stops to rotate his map, playing in resizable might help him, or it might not, just a suggestion. I've noticed in re sizable, the end dungeon interface gets blocked by the map/run button often. This might not be a big deal for larges, however, it slows a team(or solo-er) down by quite a bit.
  8. Something of this nature used to happen to me, though I'm unsure how I fixed it. Do you open multiple windows and switch between them often? Also try using lower setting within the game's graphic options.
  9. I don't like it, but even if Jagex takes severe steps against botting, f2p will still be riddled with them(unless they get rid of that [bleep]ing task system that replaced tutorial island. It basically says to botters "hey, welcome to Runescape. Enjoy!").
  10. As would I. Although a few developers may make for an interesting interview, I think the top player could offer useful insight. I'm not 100% sure, but didn't they say there is a jmod with a maxed account?

  12. Except they would never comment on bots. I'm sure your right, but I feel like that is the one question we all want answered. I can't speak for other players [of course], but I don't care about anything content related. The only thing I want to know is how long Jagex plans to wait before acting? Any mod who would accurately answer that, gets my vote for being interviewed. (I'd probably go to Runefest and meander my way into conversations with Jmods, just to get that one answered.) (I think part of the problem is, it happens to be a touchy subject, and since most Jagex employees don't really play the game, they'll choose not to answer; either on the grounds that they don't understand the severity of the issue, or on the grounds that they don't have a solution.)
  13. I'm not sure it makes achievement meaningless. Among my group of friends, players we know who bot are normally added to ignore list and their achievements mean absolutely nothing to any of us (after all, anyone can bot skills). It really comes down to the question: even without bots, would your achievements be important to players you don't know [though obviously it matters to friends]? The answer, for most of us, would be no. (I know, people enjoy tracking celebrity and/or top players; they are a little different.) That feeling of accomplishment stopped for me, around skillcape number five, though I assume when I gain 99 in "challenging" skills, such as Agility or Runecrafting, or when I finally gain maxed total, that feeling will return. It was never about glory though, it was my will to set and meet a goal that really mattered. Don't misunderstand me though. I hate bots and I hate that cheaters normally get away with botting their skills, but it doesn't make me want to quit. I'm also willing to admit that for players like myself, who are planning to max their character, bots actually make the game easier [by flooding the market with bones, herbs, and other raw materials]. That doesn't mean I want to keep them around though. Quite frankly, I miss those days when Jagex would just mass ban a few thousand cheaters and let us know they did it.
  14. I assume the best way to figure this one out would be to separate data by various combat and slayer levels. The rule of Ceteris Paribus is useful, but only once you've got a pretty good idea of what factors effect the task frequencies. If you eliminate factors beforehand, there is a high chance that your going to find an incorrect causation. If you can get a few maxed players(combat/slayer/gear wise) and use their data to form a baseline, then compare it to data from various combat/slayer levels, it should be pretty easy. This assumes, of course, that the data samples are large enough(ie: I've got fifty tasks where a vast majority were the same monster[though they may have fixed this awhile back], however these fifty tasks didn't represent my overall ratio of tasks.) I'm not sure what a good sample size is, and it would be hard to calculate lower level players task frequencies because the individual sample size at each level is going to be small [because of level gains]. It's also going to be skewed based on what players block/skip, though if everyone uses the most efficient task lists, this could be worked around without issue. The study will take a good while, and I plan to start tracking my data when I return to the skill in a few weeks, but it should give some interesting information that could be rather useful. ie: If we know the frequency of tasks, we'd know the chances of skipping a task only to get another equally bad task [which is useful when your low on points].
  15. Disagree, you want to kill them ASAP to maximise XP as it's for a slayer task. That depends on your playstyle. "The best way" isn't always the fastest and most efficient way. I would agree with that, although this thread is in metagame, which focuses on efficient gameplay. So the most efficient way to go about picking up drops would be: pick up drops in order of value filling all free space, dropping lower value drops as higher value drops are dropped. (Since drops can be picked up without wasting time.)
  16. I'm not sure he'd want to switch away from the wealth, afterall he is going after profit, not experience. Assuming you get a few more effigies from cannoning, and you don't loose money by using one, it would be worth the hassle.(An effigy, assuming you use it on a slow skill, is going to end up saving you around an hour of time.) Abyssal Demons would be comparable, or perhaps a little better gp/hr, assuming the slayer tower location isn't packed. I also assume your using the Zanaris location?
  17. Generally, Stat-boosting rings are better than a ring of wealth.

  19. I believe you can use the best of everything, minus a platebody/legs. Summoning will play a crucial role for healing. I'd also try to get soul split as soon as possible, assuming you can do the quest.
  20. Your going to miss out on a good many quests that are useful for slayer, dunno which ones yet, but I like the idea. I had a friend get 99 slayer a bit before me that had 40 attack and defence, but just massive amounts of exp in hitpoints, strength, range and magic. (he was also 43 pray and 0 summoning, though he collected the charms). Are you going to leave any other stat low, or just defence?
  21. It's going to be a few weeks before I slay for 99 Summoning, however, I'll log exp/hr, effigies and other drops, as well as summoning charms. I'll be using the fastest setup(might not use overloads, but I'm getting 96 herb and 95 prayer at least, as well as all three chaotic melee weapons if possible.)

  23. It's their life. Let them mess around with their time, getting nothing done, and (probably) screw up their life so bad, they'll end up in between a rock and nowhere to go. Well. I can't speak for everyone, but I'm in college and often have nothing of interest to do, so I find myself playing Runescape or reading most of the time, unless there happens to be a party or something of that nature. When your only commitment is going to class for under three hours a day, four days a week plus, putting aside some time to study, you will find you have an extreme amount of free time. On a typical Friday or Saturday for instance, nothing interesting happens until around 6:00 or 7:00 at night. I usually wake up around 7:00-8:00 am, so I've got 12 hours with minimal "tasks". If I choose to limit my social interactions(which I normally don't), I could play, while still getting 8 hours of sleep and all my schoolwork completed, upwards of 70 hours a week(if your wondering, that's 151 days of gameplay per year, plus extra hours from school holidays). Obviously, I don't play anywhere near this much, except occasionally, but if I wanted to gain max total as soon as possible, I easily could. Each bot at 16 hours = 8 hours less production = 1/3rd cut in productivity. Every cut in productivity knocks the smaller gold sellers out of the market who aren't profiting enough until all you have left is the big guys, who are easier to track. Obviously the could just make more accounts. (obviously paying for membership would get pricey, but they could just stay f2p).
  24. It's not right to make that assumption, despite what his posts here would seem to suggest. We'd likely see a few players who simply want to spite their friends/competition by gaining a miniscule amount more experience than playerA after playerA leaves the game or takes a break, or even works on another skill. A player trying to keep rank 1 would literally have to be playing maximum hours focused only on that one skill.
  25. I've played on the +1500 world and I still see as many bots. It's just that they're mostly using methods that don't effect others directly. There detection system isn't poor, it just doesn't exist. Bots are only banned through reports, so unless someone takes the time to report a 'bot' (could just be a player with public off...) they wont ever be caught. And even then, I can only imagine that they look at how long an account has been signed in. Such as, if someone is reported and jagex looks up the account and sees its been on for 24+ hours they know its a bot. If this is how they do things, then someone could just bot 'safely'. Bot for 3-4 hours and take a 1-2 hrs break then another 3-4 hours botting... The only reason I can see why they don't have a detection system is they don't want to spend the resources/money on checking EVERY account online to see how long they've been playing, if their clicks and actions run in a pattern, if they never speak, etc etc. Instead they rely on the broken report system, which people rarely use. Does anyone honestly bother reporting bots? They'll just have another bot to replace it in 1-2 weeks... In my eyes, there is little difference between a poor system and a non-existent system. Jagex can't simply check how long someone is logged in, during days that I have no real world commitments, I will often play as much as 15 hours without many breaks(I believe it auto-logs you after six hours), and if I'm training a skill I enjoy or want to go at maximum speed, it may look as though I'm botting by these sorts of parameters. Of course I'd never consider botting, but it would scare me if Jagex started applying these sorts of "checks" to players, and I think we'd see many people who decide to "no-life" for 36, 24 or maybe as low as 12 hours, only to be tagged as a bot by this detection method.
