Boycotting: you're doing it extremely wrong Boycotting is an extreme measure that should be reserved for meaningful things, done in meaningful ways. A bunch of members who have already paid this month's fees failing to take part in an event that has absolutely no impact on the business whatsoever if you choose not to participate in will do nothing to get your point across. The only person losing out, in that case, is you. A movement like this isn't inspiring or motivating. It's just...depressingly pointless.

I've never considered a BSS before. Can you explain the reasoning behind that for me?

Is there anything I can do with this gear to improve my kills/hr? The Ring of Life is sadly a necessity because this laptop tends to overheat easily, which locks up runescape. And even though I do have access to the 12min grave, I'm paranoid. Plus it's been a while since I solo maged rex, so I'm a mite insecure. I don't have access to Fremmy 4 boots or yak, so I know already I'm at a significant disadvantage. I don't have Soul Split, either. (It just gets worse and worse, I know...) The excalibur is the e3 one, so there's that, I guess. I'm half doing this out of boredom and half for the money, since I seem to get lucky every now and then with zerker drops. If you guys have any other suggestions for half-boredom/half-money things to do, I'd love to hear 'em too I suppose. Thanks in advance. EDIT: Just realized in my picture I have the Guthix Mace equipped. No idea why I did that. I have a Staff of Light, and I'd take that instead. My bad *facepalm*

Bought my stuff for summoning and farming. Tried to buy plain ol herbs, and got snarked on it. So I'm buying the seeds now, I guess, and getting jujus + praying MTK makes enough to get some decent herb training in...:(

By 'being good at Fight Pits' do you by chance mean 'being lucky'?

I have to wonder how this little gem slipped through testing, if you would see while testing that no other teleportation spells work in the way that the trollheim tele spell works. Surely that would have set off some alarms. Yet because players are looking at it from their typical standpoint (gaining exp), it's widely known about and being considered bug abuse. Yet that's all off to me...Stun spells that were rapid-clicked or charge spells that were rapid clicked...Elements being used (for a long time, in some cases) the way a player would normally approach the game. Teleport spells were always done for training, too, regardless if they were good methods. So how can the casual player look at this and go "oh my better not do that, that's bug abuse!" when gaining mass quantities of EXP for ridiculous amounts of money (zombie implings, anyone?) isn't exactly unheard of? And yet they plan to treat anyone using this 'bug' as bug abusing. I'm...a little confused.

I honestly didn't think it'd be necessary to make any sort of announcement, but people will argue about anything it seems. I'll update the first post with this paragraph momentarily. Hopefully this will allow matters to be put to rest and we can all happily get back on topic >_> Following the feedback on this thread where the staff asked the userbase how threads about botting would be handled in the GD area, the concensus was to leave it unpinned and just direct other botting threads here. This is the approach we have since taken, and have repeatedly directed users who have made other threads about botting to this one. If you do not see these threads, it's because after a few days of being locked (giving both the readers and the topic creator ample time to realize where they should be posting) they are then removed from the index to leave GD as uncluttered as possible. So please, feel free to use this thread for discussing botting matters. PM a member of the Moderation staff if you have any questions or suggestions--this change was brought about by listening to user feedback, so don't feel like we've stopped listening just because we're putting it into practice. We'll tweak it as much as necessary to best suit the user. Until then, feel free to bash your keyboards with me in rageresponse to botting in Runescape :P

I feel so enlightened now. :wall: Posts like these often make me wonder if they believe every player is seriously lacking intelligence, or just make it a sport to be missing the point every single time. They've at least taken the little baby step to admitting to the type of business practice. One little baby step at a time...maybe the next baby step will be finished before I turn 25.

But my point is you visit other places for pleasure, you'll have a greater chance of experiencing some sort of natural disaster whether you wanted to or not. I'm trying to say that most likely the people being interviewed have never been outside the US. Also, the people on TV came off as like "OMG I felt an earthquake for the first time! GET ON MY LEVEL!" which pisses me off even more. I will not forgo my sarcasm for your well reasoned arguments, either!

Casting telegroup trollheim apparently takes no time, so you can cast it as often as you can click. Hope no one was planning on doing a large with randoms. That'll be patched soon I'm sure.

One is a multimillion dollar business for an MMORPG that depends on the satisfaction of its userbase versus a community for a group of coders working with a beginner-to-intermediate game design tool. It's a forum that revolve around a game. Still the same thing. Not in how an area operates and the standards it maintains. If you haven't seen the many ways a community can be run it's harder to understand, I guess. But they're not the same.

Yup, it does. We can hope that by doing so they're trying to make it a pleasant environment for the users who don't give a rat's ass about the Joystick and are just there for the community...but who knows. It's easier to believe the negative than the positive. Doubtless the forum mods hiding the post are only going from instruction given to them in their job guidelines, and the community managers going from the guys above them. Too many tangled puppet strings to find out WHY, which is infuriating. Not in this sort of environment.

I don't think the average person can give their opinions on how to stop a problem so massive. Everyone does it. The solution that the average person comes up with gets torn to shreds in a debate. And right now, there aren't a whole lot of positives with the botting situation that can be called upon in order to be 'constructive'. It's really like all the average player can do is vent their frustrations. (Though I understand your point that Jiblix took it too far.) Posts like that are stirring a pot though, intended or not. It's a mob mentality. In any other circumstances, I'd like hope that in the right board on the RSOF (probably Off-topic or as close to it as they have over there) a post like that would be permitted.
