  1. I predict I'll win for at least 10 seconds. Prove me wrong.
  2. Armors like Bandos and Armadyl can never be obsolete. Barrows has been around for YEARS and it's still going strong (barrows isn't a bad way for high levels to make money, incidentally). If less people are camping Graar and Kree, prices will balance out. Correction: they will never be obsolete so long as GWD becomes the only method of obtaining that armor, just like barrows. However, if you look back to the drops from early boss monsters such as the KBD and the KQ, I think we can safely say that they are obsolete for the average player. And why would it ever change? For the same reason they decided to have npcs start dropping dragon armor. Who knows what they will do in the future. I don't, do you? Do we have any reason to say for certain that they wouldn't attempt to make this armor easier to obtain? Any reason to say that they wouldn't come up with another armor set, with similar requirements, that doesn't require millions or hours of mind-numbing, luck-hoping boss hunting in order to obtain? We don't, therefore you can't present your argument as fact. We know that armor offered by bosses can become obsolete over time and just because GWD armor might not be within the next year does not mean that it won't be 5 years from now. This is not a short term problem we're looking to solve here, but a long term one hell of an entangled issue. And again, if there was a satisfactory compromise/fix/whatever, it would've been done already.

  4. My god, same thing happened to me. If you can calculate the amount of time it takes for your pet to grow 10% (or however much percent as long as you can put it accurately in terms of minutes/1%), you could find how long it takes for your pet to reach ~90%. Then just set an alarm in RL that goes off after that time is reached, giving yourself a bit of cushion in case you can't do it right away. Don't forget to reset the alarm. To add onto this, if you have Vista/Win7, this is a nice stopwatch gadget: http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail.aspx?li=033c7f43-c205-4581-bc5b-d3f3b95ab6d6&bt=1&pl=1
  5. Exactly. That's the whole point of introducing new bosses -- to clear out the old ones. That's not solving anything either. Why would you push the agenda of new content as a solution to the problem when it clearly isn't? If your logic was completely true, then DKs would be deserted. But really, they're more popular than ever over time because of new mechanics that have made their drops extremely valuable. So what's to stop them from coming out with, say, a zarosian boss but a half a year later beefing up the armadyl armor set from Kreearra? The truth of it all is there is no easy solution. The problem hinges on the fact that boss hunting is used to make money. If you can't fix that, there's no fixing the problem. And with how dependent the economy is on fast-moneymaking via killing high level/boss monsters, is there really any proper alternative for a game like RuneScape? IF there was, they probably would've implemented it already. So really, aren't we just arguing in circles here?
  6. NPCs are made to imitate real people as best as Runescape can allow. That's why they move. It's annoying, but there's really no solution for it.
  7. 1) say something cynical and oversimplified 2) consider yourself smart and realistic 3) ?????? 4) profit A person is distressed and you tell them to get over it, which means you don't give a damn about how they're feeling or how they should get back on track but instead think they're just being childish. And maybe you don't. So if you don't like a thread, don't post on it, but don't pretend you're taking the practical, moral high ground. Life is hard and complicated. Sometimes, people need to talk. Sometimes, people need more help. That's for the individual to judge. But trust me, you don't have to heap onto the insecurity and anxiety by your blithe attitude. In this case, what you should have said was nothing. Well, consider that situations constantly change. It's reasonable to expect that the conditions you're in now will not be the same a year from now. You've always wanted a child and now you'll have one. Your ex can be dealt with, whether it be with getting sole custody when the time comes or coming to the decision that you both want to get help to make the relationship work. Your grandma is getting the help she needs to get better and your uncle is, too. And you're strong, or you wouldn't be here to begin with. But it's really hard to get from point A to point B. I can understand that. It is depressing, draining. You think of all the things that are coming your way, all the people you need to be strong for, all the things to keep going for...and it can sometimes just not be enough. I think you need help. Whether that is a friend you can confide in, a doctor you can speak to, a therapist you visit weekly, a hobby you can work on, anything. Find someone, or something like a hobby... anything that helps you focus on today and nothing but today. Don't let yourself get overwhelmed. Or maybe this thread was your way of reaching out. That's a good step. Keep reaching out to the people you can, the friends you know, the family you have. Keep trying.
  8. Does anyone else find these RL videos creepy? Like they're trying to remind us way too hard that there's humans behind the game?
  9. I think the OP is a range tank pure.
  10. Aren't they then wasting your time and money by being in a spot you could easily occupy with inferior gear/stats/summons? What if you've looked for ages and couldn't find a world? If there are a fixed amount of bosses, and all of them are packed (which is often the case at Bandos), you have no choice. You said it yourself--it's a huge investment of time and money. If you choose to handicap yourself...great, fine. Would it be better if we didn't crash? Absolutely. Is it unfortunate? Yes. Do we have any other option? No. And who do we have to thank for that? Jagex. So at the end of the day, if you get crashed, who should you really be mad at...?
  11. There's gravite bows as well. Range's weakness is balanced by its speed. I wouldn't say that it's crippled. Only thing that really needs to be brought up to speed is mage, either in the form of a damage boost or a better binding spell or some other tweak. Your casting speed is determined by your weapon's attack speed, and most staves (for pure mage'ers) have the same speed as a longsword. So mages, who are supposed to be the death toll for melee'ers, aren't.
  12. Lots of people had the same idea. But now Jagex is saying this was a mistake (and if it is, good for them for fixing it quickly) so I wouldn't recommend trying it now. lol
  13. FoG isn't PKing? then what exactly am i playing agains? NPCs? I would spend some time actually becoming skilled at the minigame. i can't play huh? lets get back on topic here. 99 range doesnt down a person as fast as 70/70 melee does when going agaisnt each other. and mage is even worse. I am on topic. If it doesn't 'down' people as fast it's because they're probably wearing full rune. So switch tactic or accept the weakness of your class choice. Don't know what else to tell you...seriously. EDIT: and lol@trying to discredit me because I don't play frequently. Doesn't change the fundamental fact that you're whining about class power in a game that has very little to do with the combat triangle and more about hunting/being hunted, evasion and tracking, and versatility. Not to mention that getting your rank up in f2p fog is about as difficult as taking candy from a baby. *facepalm*

    Only new[bleep]s.
  15. FoG isn't PKing? then what exactly am i playing agains? NPCs? Fist of Guthix is a minigame. PK'ing on a PvP world/Bounty Hunter world is absolutely nothing like actual pking. Furthermore, you are intentionally weakened so that Hunters can easily kill you. I can't think of a different way to say that. A mage would wreck you, a ranger would wreck you, a melee'er would wreck you if they were the Hunter because that's how the game is designed to be. That's why you tank. I would spend some time actually becoming skilled at the minigame.
  16. Correction: "Virus" is incorrectly used as a blanket term for all malware. I don't see a difference between what you said and he said. Are you guys really just arguing about the same thing now?
  17. You can't seriously base your argument off of how quickly people kill you at FoG... Your stats as the hunted are intentionally lowered. You're just terrible at tanking. :kanye:

That is the biggest issue with this, which is why I'm surprised it's not being talked about more. Instead people are just going "LOL DOESNT AFFECT ME WHO USES LIMEWIRE STILL" (Not just the replies on this thread, but my friends and coworkers as well).
  19. inb4 cracking inb4 update that bricks cracked machines
  20. You don't see the gain? They get to keep membership payments while the bots keep going. No it's not. When you're banned, all assets are frozen. They no longer exist and can't impact anyone else. We know so little about this 'new process', we don't know what happens with their assets. If they're keeping them, then it's absolutely abhorrent. If they're removing them too, then hey! Jagex still gets their money, botters gonna bot, haters gonna hate, etc. Meh. It'd be nice if there was confirmation somewhere. This whole thing lowers my opinions of the company behind this game.

Do you use any p2p sharing? Then it will affect you. Let's just hope that the [bleep]ed-up legal system makes it take so long for when they finally do start picking other programs to shut down that the hydra effect takes place. The fact that they're even able to shut down distribution of this product at all is disturbing. I don't understand why it seems like Limewire won't appeal.
  22. When is it ok to crash? It's never okay. You're not only hurting your target, but the clan your target is fighting. So for one act of spite, you're affecting far more than just a few people. It's selfish. It's pathetic. And sadly, it's unavoidable. I don't represent the sole viewpoint of the entire clan community and I don't expect those who crash to change their minds any time soon. But that doesn't mean I'll ever like them, respect them, or treat them with anything but disdain. Does your clan crash planned fights? We did it only once, and many people disagreed with it. It was our 'bad choice', one that every clan makes at least once, and we've grown and moved on from it. Every clan has their skeleton. Do you Consider it 'NH'? NH doesn't exist anymore. I just think it's a [cabbage] thing to do. If someone in YOUR clan snipes other wars, do your clan officials take action? If someone from our clan snipes/crashes other clans, they're kicked without question. We don't tolerate that.
  23. Don't they require a membership to purchase there? That's a drawback for most people. Honestly, if your budget is truly that much, you could build yourself a PC that will last a good, long time. I would give it serious consideration.
  24. Tell me, oh you kids with lots of money to buy games on release, is magic any more enjoyable to use over Fable 2? The mechanics of Will attacks in 2 destroyed it for me, they were so clumsy.
  25. I've never seen him outside an obelisk but not running the minigame. I'm sure you're correct though, so I apologize.
