  1. Because right now, until things are retconned, we have several paradoxes on our hands whether they happen to our account or not. They represent parts of the story that will need to be changed or altered and haven't been yet for whatever reason. It doesn't make what the quest was able to display bad, but it mars an otherwise polished story, as you've put it.
  2. I don't think we'll have any bit of resolution in the coming months of any sort, but it would be nice to have some larger segments of character development. I understand devs have to walk a thin line there since people react violently to "spoon-feeding" stories, but if it's serving a strong purpose I shouldn't think many people would mind. It's hard when you have this hollow-shell everyman character that we're supposed to be - we lack a voice, we have no personality either way, and so on. Conflicts tend to come from other characters rather than our own characters. It's...it's tough haha. I don't know how they could do it better, I only know what I'd like to see more of! I was staring wistfully at the Guthix book I completed in 2007 when they were 50k or so apiece, and wishing I could get a Guthix altar in my POH. Well that's refreshing at least :D
  3. Let me just summarize the replies that will follow... "You're totally entitled to your opinion...but you're wrong and I hate you." EDIT: I'm not saying I agree/disagree with you. Just making a joke on the debate that will surely follow :P Btw guthixian followers are crawling out the woodwork now. Where were you lot when guthix pages were 20k a pop eh? (Should anyone start arguing utility of preeoc books, I'll slap you in the face. Hard.)
  4. I think he's talking about the picture linked by MissLioness, not the reddit account.
  5. http://www.reddit.com/user/modmike I can't find that comment anywhere on his profile. I think that image might either be fake or possibly deleted because it contained incorrect information - which if it did I wouldn't lay it at his feet. E: unless it was on a private subreddit? But I don't think any other private subreddits use that specific flair.
  6. You need lvl 30 construction to do that.
  7. It's more of a misconception. Because the flower game has an inherent disadvantage some people in RS revile it as a scam.
  8. I probably misread the newspost but it sounded more as if this month would just be the host to some community brainstorming session? That just seemed like a hold-over to me since we've had this indirectly mentioned to us in the previous months from various j-mods. I didn't think we'd actually get anything this month. That's pleasantly surprising if we do.
  9. Yeah, I don't quite understand how fletching is still exclusively p2p despite it class counterpart skill, Runecrafting, being f2p and p2p.
  10. That was just pure, masochistic torture though.
  11. To be fair modern-day globe-trekking is no more than a ring teleport here, a teleport scroll there, a chipped tab for good measure...
  12. Osbourne said "bombastic" and I just couldn't help but thinking he looked like:
  13. So perhaps your original point isn't necessarily, "F2P doesn't deserve any regular updates" but "F2P (and P2P supporters of F2P) should remember that they do get a lot of updates for being utterly free."
  14. It's possible, but the ceiling of 5 seems more to cover what you would reasonably gain during the course of the tutorial. For benefits, it'd probably be best to look to the lower leveled slayer weaponry, lower level p2p craftable/fletchable items, etc.
  15. But shouldn't a skill designed to be a goldsink as a "check" on the economy be one of the more thriving, or useful, or interactive skills in order for it to achieve its purpose? Otherwise, what's the purpose of it being a goldsink at all?
  16. I just don't understand the logic behind separating the tie between Agility and Run energy. Just because it affects the skill doesn't necessarily mean it must be the most defining aspect of the skill. In what way would that relationship be restricting the skill's expansion to such a degree that they needed to remove it in order to move forward, much like the philosophy behind changing combat mechanics to move forward with things beyond the EoC? Maybe the coming weeks will bring more explanation. If this statement was ever true beyond a shiny glimmer in an optimist's eye, it's partially thanks to Microtransactions. Advertising revenue from F2P has never really caused them to break even for the cost of running those f2p servers, if I remember rightly. As for skills becoming p2p, it was absolutely necessary if they were converting the only tutorial the game had to f2p. And that draws me back to my original point...how the hell didn't they see that coming?
  17. You could say that, and I know that not all released content will appeal to all players, but there is only two real things that seem to affect the core of the game announced in this bts: re-zoning a p2p section to f2p and the combat upgrades. D&D's like these flashmob things don't really hold much appeal according to precedence and bugfixes depend largely on what they try to fix before they can be appreciated. So yes while there's a lot of content this month, it still seems pretty sparse. If at all possible, I don't really mean that to be a negative thing. After all, the largest thing about this month is the TWW quest, and I think the vanilla sort of background of this month's updates reflect that in the same way that they didn't want 07scape to steal TWW's thunder when they chose to push it back.
  18. This is...a strange bts. Not wholly bad. But...seemed a bit sparse. One thing that upset me as much as it made me happy however was that they continually stated that giving p2p content to f2p arguments were just self-entitled whiners asking for "more reasons not to subscribe." Yet when they released the tutorial - the only cohesive tutorial RuneScape has ever had that threw you into the atmosphere and lore of the game as well as the mechanics - as p2p only content boxed them into a wall. So I guess what I'm wondering is...how was something like this not forseen? I dunno. That's mostly itchy grumbling.
  19. I don't know, from everything we've seen about their advertising tactics, I have a hard time thinking the only reason the avalanche, as you put it, existed was because of flat-lining. Restraint has never been their strong point with advertising in the least, and we've seen far more evidence of that than anything else. But I guess that's just me.
