  1. I suspect you'll change your mind on this before you reach 4,000 slate. As you continue doing Hook missions and your progress bar advances, the difficulty increases. A third ship won't help you with dual 4.5k missions or single-stat 7.5k missions, and I've heard there are even worse. I'm 12% through and almost past 1k slate and still haven't had many 3/4 anchor missions over 3k-4k missions. Even the combined ones are 3.5k and those aren't hard at all.
  2. Most of my missions for slate have been pretty easy, which I'm extremely grateful for. I think I'm going to save all my slate for the ship upgrade as my first thing. I've got 700 slate so far...out of 4000 needed >_>'
  3. Shhh shhh... Don't question it.
  4. .....How on earth did you get from point a to point b on that one? A bit of a leap there, and I think he was using a bit of hyperbole, but since we've gone from the Loyalty Shop and RAF to full blown RWT of xp, gold, items and rares in the past 12 months, I'd say he'll probably end up being right this time next year. No, he won't. Jagex selling gear is inevitable but his claims of advertising like that to manipulate the market is just foolish. They don't need to do stuff like that to manipulate the items and make them more desirable.
  5. Ask Me (Almost) Anything. AMA's often appear on that hellhole, though I doubt it's only seen there. When did Q&A become "Ask Me (Almost) Anything"? That is terribly stupid. It's a reddit thing. If you're answering EVERY question, it's AMA. If you're only answering some questions (aka he was only answering questions relevant to a lead designer) it's an AMAA. More descriptive actually than Jagex's typical Q&A and equally 'productive' with the added bonus of extra visibility on /r/runescape, /r/gaming, /r/ama, etc. If you're going to waste the lead designer's time, at least get some good advertisement out of it. Don't mind it at all really -- reddit is vastly superior to the RSOF. No one should WANT a Q&A done on that shithole. No need to have a fit.
  6. Why is it necessary to call them runescape skills instead of just "skills" when we're obviously talking about runescape? >_>'
  7. .....How on earth did you get from point a to point b on that one?
  8. And for those 12 months, you're paying over the loyalty rate -- thus losing the rate to take this offer. Why is that so hard to understand @_@
  9. No. Tip.it died because of the moderators back in 2005 that dealt with the clan section. It was nazi central that resulted in DI boycotting the forums and at the time they were the trendsetters. When I was active in RS (two years ago maybe), tipit had plenty of traffic. Not the same as zybez (or as it was in '05), but still a steady traffic. Unless i'm missing something, i'd blame it on the clan world. Everywhere seems dead compared to what it was. He's talking about what caused the original shift. You should know that.
  10. Nah he's been doing this for almost as long FG was around. I remember him giving an invite when I first joined staff back in...I think like early 2010.
  11. Source: http://www.reddit.co...at_jagex_games/ Now that the jokes are aside... Teasers & stuff: New task set released in January - link There are changes planned down the line to make more skills worthwhile that reward the skill of the player - link We're not going to get a lot of sneaky info leaked about the new skills until release - link Two new skills might have a tenuous attachment to lore, might not be like Dungeoneering to Daemonheim though - link Zaros might be seen in the return of the gods storyline (not really a reveal, more like a confirmation) - link Noticeboard changes are incoming - link Teleporting in dungeons when your map is open will be fixed, no ETA - link Money-sink and and stopping player-run gambling coming in the future, coming early 2013 - link, link Not really a leak, but they plan to continue unique untradable items - link Varrock getting a graphical update soon - link Slug series has no plans of getting revamped (lol) - link Sagas getting fixed and he apologizes for the delay, first update in January ETA - link "Level Up My X" update not abandoned, still being worked on - link One of the new skills will be heavily involved with the new pocket slot released at the same time as Player owned ports - link There is something being developed for/around the Wilderness, no clear hints as to what - link Interesting points of discussion: While he is the lead designer, he might not have a say in what the content is used for, or whether or not it gets priced appropriately - link They feel like they've transitioned into the "nonkids game" realm enough and claim that the kids-game perspective might be tied to when people first joined the game - link "Id like to improve the GP earning potential of many aspects of the game. However, some activities will always remain XP focused, and I don't believe that all skills should generate the same amount of wealth." (Good on ya Mark.) - link Misc stuff: Unlikely to be international hires for the game design aspect of RS in the near future - link Mod mark really wants to keep the new skill under-wraps - link Mod Mark surprisingly didn't know that the make-x/production interface was obstructive - link Tried to get everything of substance Mod Mark replied to but that was a lot to sift through. I highly encourage you guys to read it too, it was pretty interesting. It was an AMAA though so a lot of things weren't answered; however he gave us a lot of good info, I think more than I originally expected. The thing that interested me the most was that one of the new skills will make heavy use of the pocket slot and the new task set. I think it's pretty good that Mod Mark wants diverse skills and recognizes that not all skills will make money, something a large portion of RS tends to forget. So what do you guys think about it? Happy he released an AMAA? Happy with what he answered/how he answered?
  12. It's worth stating that the above is incorrect. Just as with redeeming a gift card, this is considered a one-time event and not a recurring agreement. So if you're currently grandfathered into the older/cheaper membership rate, you will automatically resume paying that monthly rate once the year of membership credit is used up. It's completely correct -- taking that offer will, for a 12 month period, lose you that low cost per month. You will have it available to you after a year...assuming that mid way through the 12 month period they don't remove that ability altogether if you don't have it as your active subscription...but you're paying more, aka losing the loyalty rate, in lieu of the "premium membership." Thought that was pretty obvious what I meant but I guess not.
  13. He really thought he was going to protect himself, but he's a kid and he wanted to brag about it. That doesn't make it right, but it doesn't mean the kid was a psychopathic killer.
  14. Yup the 2k package normally is $50. If they get rid of the loyalty shop like they look like doing, it might be a good investment for good auras later down the line but...honestly? [bleep] that noise. Auras don't give a substantial enough bonus to pay actual cash for.
  15. ...How is it desperation? This is normal business crap and hell, I would have thought a kettle-banging die-hard like yourself would enjoy the fact that they brought back a good thing they got rid of (membership purchase for a year). (EDIT: p.s.: if you're going to post and not expect to be a part of the discussion, why even post?)
  16. You can subscribe with these packages with a credit card. Unless you're talking about the fact that credit card subscribers were screwed out on the items previously in which case ignore this. Requires giving up the loyalty rate to do this. Whether its worth it is up for debate. (in regards to year-long purchases) You're basically paying $15 (the difference between the loyalty rate and the month-rate with the 12month package) for 2k runecoins and a chance to shake Mod Mark's hand. Yeah you get one extra spin per day, not really worth it
  17. Added Muggi's post to the original and added information to the topic title. Please try to help out next time you create a discussion by putting a bit more than a picture to discuss :P To be honest I'm not bothered by this at all, it's no different than the promotional crap for the gift cards. But hey! They brought back year-long memberships! *dance*
  18. "Needed" is not the right word. Quantity demanded is. Unless the bosses were suitably difficult to require those armors or make your kills faster, neither of which is currently the case post EoC, they were going to fall. Everyone undercutting everyone was bound to happen, which causes instability, but the biggest problem with this joke of a blog post is that he has no other choice but to blame it all on the users, rather than the fact that the EoC has left no high end difficulty in which those armors would be necessary for success or a competitive edge. Because, you know, eoc was ready and tiering and monsters those things were obtained from were balanced.
  19. Moved to Help & Advice. This is just their holiday promotional event.
  20. Disgust is pretty much the right response to reading that article. It's absolutely shameful that people are worshiping these actions, yet vilifying the WBC -- they're doing the exact same kind of hateful and destructive acts, yet people only cheer because someone they don't like is being targeted. This isn't how the WBC will be stopped, ignoring the fact that the kids in the Anonymous 'group' have never achieved any of their crusades they've started. And just like that, instead of people talking about the tragedy, it becomes what is basically little better than watching some kids get in a slap-fight.
  21. I thought you could only attract 2 adventurers at a time o_O
  22. In this case, they might have been taking power creep into account. At the time the reward was sort of worth the effort required to gain the gear, experience, and time taken to obtain it. Now...not so much.
  23. The Vile Hook is a very shy captain. That's why her morale is so low. She tries so very hard to be Exuberant though.
