The math teacher I had last year assigned work and reading from the book every night, and very rarely taught anything. We spent the first half of class going over homework and the second doing practice problems from the book. She also had no personality, and we did the exact same thing every day. Needless to say, I hated the class and never did the work. Surprise, surprise, she sent me to upper-standard (the level below honors, and the first one I've been in since we started dividing classes based on ability) this year. Somehow, she is actually respected by her colleagues and liked (in a sort of teasing way) by some students. And that is the story of how someone who won awards for math as a kid now won't have anything to do with it unless I see the application (like in physics).

Desperate times call for desperate measures. A shotgun and a witty quip will do the trick - Try "Gerroff mah lawn". Seriously, that's the lamest thing I've heard in a while and those kids need a wake-up call.

I started a new world for the sake of exploration, and the biomes are much better. I'm also finding mainly wooded/"normal" and sand, but found a couple mid-sized snow areas. I decided to start on normal, and it wasn't too bad. I built a house immediately and stayed in it all night, so there weren't many problems. The first cave I found was amazing. It was near the surface, and after exploring maybe half of it, I already have more iron and gold than I did in my whole first game combined. Then, to explore biomes, I took a trip across the map, just walking in one direction above ground and taking anything worthwhile. After returning to my base, I must have at least six full stacks of clay, which I'm making into bricks now. I still have one question, though: How do I find pumpkins? I've explored extensively on two different worlds, and have never found a pumpkin. It's a bit disappointing. If you mean "mob tower", the new update has made most of the spawning strategies obsolete, but this tower design was probably the best, and will still give you plenty of items.

It's more of a relationship thread. Plus, it gets a bit boring reading about people not knowing how to talk to girls and Iamdan telling them to not be a [kitty]. I can't remember the nets, but I think it might be inefficient unless you can lure him into a woodland environment. A quick Google of "how to trap a guy" will tell you that the best way is to get pregnant, so I would try that one if the ewok thing doesn't work out.

Sorry to break it to you, but when the admin updates the server everything gets deleted. You'll have to restart your "house of mazes", which sounds like a great idea but I expect it would get pretty annoying eventually. I would end up tunnelling out :P

Get a bucket of water, mine down to adminium, and branch out. You'll eventually hit lava. Put the flow block above the lava, and it will make obsidian. The key is to have it hit the lava from above, not the side, or you'll only get cobblestone. It takes a while to mine, and you'll need a diamond pickaxe. I believe it's 16 blocks for one gateway. I've heard they also can go through portals sometimes (I may have read that on here, IDK), which is why I built a little house around my portal. This Halloween will be no fun, I'm way to old to trick-or-treat and it's on a Sunday, so partying will be minimal. My favorite part about Halloween would either be the chocolate or the girls in costumes.

Lol@ above (pic with the monsters). I've been on peaceful for most of the time, as I find it's much better when I'm building to not have to worry about falling. Nevertheless, I've still died twice, dropping both diamond picks and all my obsidian, so no more Hell for me today. I've been exploring biomes, as I wanted some snow blocks for my base. After a few days' in-game time, I've managed to find a decently sized snow area. [spoiler=Cartograph]It was a bit buggy, but it seems to have loaded the hell-stone I put on top of my little house alright. The only problem is you won't be able to see anything because the map is so huge. Oh, and that sand-like stuff where my main world was is a glitch with Cartograph. I'm pretty disappointed with the biomes. All I can really see is snow, and very little of that. There were also areas with lots of trees, but I couldn't really tell the different between snow and "Woodland". Nexaduro: Start by building a shelter. "Mine" some trees, make a crafting table, make tools, explore and build a better house, make ladders and torches, then start a mine. You're looking for anything unusual - if it looks different, mine it. You'll eventually find some iron, make it into tools, and continue to explore mines for better materials. Be sure to remember how to get back to the surface. If you want to know how to build stuff, check the wiki. Also, you might find Seananners' vids on Youtube helpful. It's a pretty open game, you basically just run around, mine, and craft. And no, there is no "Survival" multiplayer. There is a multiplayer with mining and crafting (but no monsters as far as I know) which he's been updating, but it's not that fun. The biggest problem I had with it was that any server I went into had already been hugely developed, so there was really nothing to do. We need a TIF server.

Same, when I opened the game it downloaded automatically. Now it's crashing every thirty seconds, though, and I'm playing offline.

Yea, that's silly. First of all, we have more food if we eat meat because we have more options available. Second, our main limiting factor is a lack of space, not a lack of food.

My game has made a habit of crashing randomly, closing itself and deleting anything I did since the last save. The way it deletes is wierd though - it deletes buildings and stored stuff, but my player appears in the same place with the same inventory. So I finished off a portal and went to hell (which Notch is calling "The Nether"), mined a few hell bricks, then the game crashed. When I loaded it up again, it said .34 KB when my game is supposed to be >10kb, and I was in hell, but the gate wasn't there :o so I guess I'll burn in hell forever? I think I'll try dieing, and see if my real world is still there. What happens when you die in Hell? Maybe I should take this one to the philosophy thread. Edit: [bleep]. When I died, I got a blank error message. Make a note, kids: Dying in Hell = [/world]. Good game to all of the stuff I've posted in this thread so far. I'm glad I didn't spend time building a mob trap. Edit 2: False alarm. I reloaded the game, and found myself at the spawn point. I went back to where I had built my portal, and found it fully built and operational, and when I went into hell there was a portal there, with all my stuff next to it. Oh, and when I go back through it I show up at some random place near the portal I built, in a new portal. By the way, the rock that looks like gravel in hell is, in fact, gravel. Also, I guess Notch didn't go through with the lantern update.
