  1. What's the nicest way to tell someone he shouldn't ask for advice if he isn't going to bother reading it? I don't remember a single person, out of all the people who read your post, who said you should go along with it. Most said lose her as quick as you can. In case that didn't work, to answer your question, DON"T. Sorry if I'm confusing you with someone else. You're the guy who described how some girl wanted to get with you who was sort of [bleep]ty and had a messy breakup with your best friend, right?

It's commonsense to know not to touch fire a second time since you don't want to get burned. A negative consequence generally makes it more likely for someone to stay away from something. Without the involvement of one's own self-interest on the line, people would commit crime on an even grander scale, so it is prevention. Then if you don't want criminals to get off the hook and you don't want them to go to jail, what do you propose? If the punishments really worked the way you claim they do, there would be no need for this discussion. If punishments worked as prevention, then we would not actually have to punish anyone. Someone who commits a serious crime, or rather, an unusual crime, has mental issues, and should be rehabilitated in some sort of mental facility. The focus is rehabilitation, not punishment. General petty crimes, and more serious crimes in a crime-filled area, are a result of the environment. In order to prevent these crimes, the environment needs to change. This is real prevention - you remove the cause rather than creating a threat.

There's only one aggressive person in the video, and it isn't the protesters. Agreed. I watched the first minute, and turned it off because it annoyed me. I'm pro-choice, not pro-shouting at women on the street in a rude manner. Someone should ask him what he's trying to accomplish, as converting two middle-aged ladies holding posters of Jesus won't do much, and vidding it on a crappy cell-phone just shows the internet how much of a jackass he is.
  4. This made me lol, but I doubt I'll watch it. I really don't like the excess blood and violence, but the concept is a bit comical, even if the plot will be neglected.

  6. I enjoy it, as well as the Bad Girl's Club. You would. OT: Looking at a blank Microsoft Word document. It just makes me feel like I have two essays to type and an hour to do them. You take an hour to type two essays? :////// On Topic; Parents. Every one has em, annoying as hell. Either chores, money, online life, social life, you name it, they'll moan about it. Eugh I take an hour to not type two essays. Everyone likes to complain about parents, but in the end, we'd be nowhere without 'em.
  7. Except that you can buy digital music legally? But yeah, it's not too bad.

I'm sort of disappointed about the biomes, as I've loaded so much of my map now that it will be a long journey to find another biome, since he doesn't change any of the ones you've already explored. At least the portals will make long journeys easier. Oh, and I laid out a ton of torches on the ground, so that they'll turn into lanterns after the update, and hopefully I can pick them up and not have to worry about making lanterns.
  10. Never. I am the Rosa Parks of INTPs, and I will not move this ancient ass for some young INwhatever whippersnapper. I expect we'll see very few who aren't, if not IN--, then at least I---.
  11. I got INTP, but I remember deciding I was something different a while ago. Got 50% on the T, anyways. Isn't this system of classification a bit outdated?

  13. Dostoevsky's Notes From Underground. Isn't this thread basically the same thing as the "Literature" thread?

  15. This thread is full of surprises.

Dude, forget acne cream. Watch what you eat, get enough sleep, and wash with an acne soap three times a day, and you'll be fine. E: Wait, medicine? I don't even. Well I don't know much about medicine, but it sounds like a massive pain.

I'm planning on starting a mob tower, although there doesn't seem to be any easy way to find the (0,0) coordinate, so I'll just make it in a flat area. For any wondering, I'm planning on using this design. It should take me a while, but I think I've got the cobblestone for it. I found a snow world. It crashed, now it glitches every time I start it. I hope Notch releases a bug fix with this next update (which, coincidentally, will allow me to find snow on my main world), because the bugs have been driving me crazy. My main world keeps crashing, and loading me with the same items, but missing all the stuff I did and put in a box.

Probation Officer. Long story. Multiple stories, actually :wall: But yea, she's acting nice today, even though she was on the phone giving the contact info for my therapists. Three cheers for crazily (unofficially) bipolar women.
  21. I could swear I made this post, but it says I haven't posted in this thread. I bet there's a random post in some other thread, lol. I can't stand having anything in my back pockets. I don't want inanimate objects rubbing my butt while I walk, and I don't want to have to twist around whenever I need my wallet. Plus, I normally have deep front pockets, or baggy pockets on the sides. Right: Wallet, phone Left: Tissues, mints when I have them
  22. I don't normally like screamy metal, but I like this one. I think I found it on tip.it, actually.
  23. Economic Left/Right: -0.50 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.49 [hide][/hide] I've seen this test a few times, and really like how it distinguishes between economic and social views. I'm not always sure of my answers for economic questions, which is why my views are shakily centrist on the economic scale. It can also be hard at times when there are no clear lines between "strongly (dis)agree" and "(dis)agree". Ever heard of the "Libertarian" party in the USA? It's basically Republican economically (no taxes@@) and Libertarian (Anarchist) socially. Unfortunately, the Party itself is a complete disaster, full of contradicting viewpoints and people, mostly because its figureheads didn't agree on much more than the fact that they didn't want the government interfering with their beloved monopolies. E: What a surprise - this forum is mostly liberal/libertarian.
  24. Since when is marriage meant solely for the creation of children, and since when can homosexuals not raise their own children, even if they cannot procreate?

Today I found out that the one class with girls I'd like to see in costume is the one I skip the Friday before Halloween. That's two years in a row that's happened. I've got three large papers due this week, and at least one test. On the bright side, my parents leave Wednesday and don't get home until Sunday afternoon, so I'll pretty much do whatever I want for the last half of the week - not that I don't already. I've been having some troubles with my mom lately. She wants me to see a psychologist. She insists I'm depressed (even though it's ridiculous - she just printed some thing off the internet and applied all its traits to me), then says it wasn't originally her idea, then starts shouting at me about how she's going to kick me out of the house. WTF? Anyways, I have no time at all for useless meetings, and I already see two therapists and a PO. This all just drives me crazy.
