Abortion

Recommended Posts

The most recent Abortion topic I found was at least 5 months old, so I'm making a new thread on this.

To start off, I'm nor Pro-Life or Pro-Choice, as I'm undecided on what my views on Abortion should be. Abortion is such a big subject.

Firstly, I'll point out that there's some very extremist anti-abortion activists that do some very stupid things. It's absolutely illogical to try and justify the murder of doctors because they're perceived as 'the killers of the unborn'.

Some issues to address:

Some questions

If you are Pro-Life, would rape/incest count as a exception? If not, why?

Does an unborn fetus have a right to life?

Under what circumstances would it be okay to abort, and where do you draw the line?

Oh, one last thing, don't get too worked up during the debate, I know this is a fragile topic, please keep this appropriate.

Discuss!

Abortion is ok if the person who does it thinks it is the right thing to do and isn't morally against it.

Personally, if I got somebody pregnant, it would depend on the situation on what I think she should do. Abortion would not be something that I would completely rule out.

Noooo! Not another abortion thread! There are so many of these on so many forums... I agree it's a big (and obviously very controversial) subject, but the fact is: it doesn't matter that much. It's all morals, which are man-made. It's all up to the person, it should be allowed everywhere, because everyone should be allowed to make their own decisions. People who get angry because someone ELSE had an abortion are stupid. It's not their baby. You could say the fetus should also have freedom, but no, it shouldn't. It hasn't learned anything yet. Since morals are man-made, the fetus does not deserve it's own ''decision''.

Sculpted from birth, you try to fit in. Wishing you were this, wanting to be that... changing everything you really are. Meanwhile, you're so lost in others, you have vanished from the earth.

[bleep]ing again ?

Seems to me that there's one every week hidden in a thread regardless whether or not the topic title suggests. Last one I remember was this

I think it's wrong to deny anyone a life whether the child was intentional or not.

If you don't want it, someone else will.

There's no reason to kill it to prevent the pain.

1. "My ear's in a cup, I guess that doesn't count..."

2. "So heyyy, that's a pretty reasonable reaction huh?"

3. "So you up for NAFTA?"

4. "That went exactly how I wanted it to."

What about a girl getting raped? Or that carrying the term will cause detrimental health effects to the mother? There are so many scenarios where an abortion may actually be necessary...

The fetus is not aware of what's happening. The mother is. It's the mother's decision.

It should be legal if the baby has or will cause: maternal life, health, mental health, rape, and/or fetal defects

If the mum does not want it there is a thing called adoption.

The mother's call.

If not for that end my opinions are probably closer to pro-life. Unborn have the right to life and all that blah blah blah you know that stuff already. But it's stupid for a bunch of males to make laws that force that issue. We don't have to deal with pregnancy at nearly the same level.

I think all abortion is okay, the child has not made any significant feeling and love before been birth.

Because adoption is such a perfect system and kids who are adopted always get put into loving families right away.

I'm pro choice and that is all I'm really going to say on the matter. Debating about abortion is like pulling teeth.

Adoption is not some magical solution to this problem. It's a whole other issue on its own, and the mother still has to deal with the full pregnancy.

I'm personally against abortion, but I think that the parents should have a choice in the matter. So technically I am pro-choice, but honestly every time I've said that I've been attacked for it even though I disagree with it and if it were up to me I wouldn't want the abortion.

There are situations where I believe it's acceptable however.

Hate it when people do it, it's the same concept as murder. If you don't want to take care of the baby, someone else will. If it happened through rape or something, now you know life's a [bleep], deal with it.

Blasphemy

We choose to go...not because [it is] easy, but because [it is] hard, because that goal will serve to measure and organize the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win. ~ Blasphemien Way

I think everyone already knows my beliefs on the topic so I won't go into them; since this thread gets rehashed every few months...

However, I don't see how someone who calls themselves pro-life can be supportive of abortion in the case of rape or incest. A life is a life, regardless of the circumstances surround its creation.

I'm pro-choice. It's the environment that makes the person, and the actions that define him or her. There isn't really much more to be said here, as the question depends almost entirely on opinions and beliefs, and less on facts.

I'm sorry if you didn't know that "life" for alot of people is actually struggle. Do they decide to give up on it and kill it? Do people that midway gain permanant disabilities decide to just commit suicide? No they don't, many realise how much harder someone else has it and learn to deal with it and continue living. You can't choose the cards you are dealt, but it's your job to make the best out of that hand.

Imo no matter who you are, you don't have the right to judge whether someone else should live or die, even if it's your child.

So you're implying that even if keeping the child would kill you, you would be morally obliged to keep the child?

It's the person's choice. If you're pro-life then go ahead, it's your choice, your child, why should you care about what other people choose? It's similar to religion, you shouldn't push it on other people. That's really the only thing that makes me angry about this debate.

One choice being "morally wrong" is irrelevant. Morals are something that is to the eye of the beholder. It's biased if you will because it depends on a person's past experiences or thoughts.

What I'm wondering about is what would be the best course of action if having a baby would kill the mother. Would you abort then or...?

Of course it'd be the mother's decision, but still. Leaving a child to be orphaned, when there's enough as is...

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

Obviously the mother's decision there. I don't think it's morally wrong to get an abortion in that case because there will be a death regardless of the action taken.
