  1. figures, I probably know more than higher lvl f2p dungers too <_< The last team I was on, we had Har'lak as our boss. Everyone died twice on him except me, because they kept running under old flame portals to avoid the new one he spawned on them. They were then confused, and were on the verge of blaming "that noob who isn't helping" (I was in the boss room the entire time maging him)
  2. I'm 99% sure I didn't read it wrong, and it was with only one person attacking me....no one else was around. I know where the equation was taken from, but at a time like this, Jagex seems to be one the LAST places we should be looking for clarification on how the shields work.
  3. whats a good way to find some half decent dung teams in F2p. I have a 42 combat F2p account with 58 dung...I've been soloing everything except the furnished floors because the bosses are too high level, and it's just....hell....in world 7.
  4. Eh? Mines woked perfectly since day 1
  5. It might work in free play PvP no-arming situations though. How would it compare there? Yeah, I mean, it'd also be great for an ultimate strength-only safe PvP DDS deathmatch, if we're just making up random situations to use it in. Just to let you know. F2p players are real.
  6. You walk up to the ferret...it walks away from you, It will try to walk in the exact opposite direction away from you. Scare it ONLY WHEN IT'S TRAPPED ON A WALL OR CORNER.
  7. No it isn't, why do people keep saying this? I think it's because it splashes when it misses. But that would mean Dagannoth Supreme's attacks are magic based as well, which is pretty obvious they aren't.
  8. I tested my Eagle eye with a friend of mine. I soaked 38 lp, and he hit a 359 on me. That whole 14% of the damage over 200...is BS. without the soak, he would have hit a 393 on me. 393-200 = 193 14% of 193 = 27 according to the calculations that have been presented, the 38 soak should not be possible. That being said, the dungeoneering reward shields are not worth getting, except for the Eagle-eye (imo) for warring.
  9. I'd rather use an empowered fire, it saves time, gives a decent damage boost AND gives a positive magic bonus. It's only 2 levels more to use it too.
  10. as well as being easier to get. I've killed so many nechryael in dungeoneering, never seen a doomcore. It's a shame, I've always wanted to alch one.
  11. YES way.... Arcane shield advantages aren't great: +3 magic attack (not very meaningful if you wear proper mage gear) +20 crush defense (who cares if your maging somebody with a cmaul your gonna flip sol special anyway and thats about the only weapon people use with crush that is tier 1) +3 prayer (I doubt you would notice it unless that the only prayer bonus you have) 0 range penalty (you range with it? why its for maging? Much better shields for that) Arcane shields disadvantages are very significant: No damage soak (this is significant because it stops the big hit ko's, I can't ever remember being koed on hit more than 200, probably because they coded it up wrong and apply the damage soak before figuring out if your dead or not) worth 67mil more (huge waste of time making the money to buy or getting on a drop, 4mil/gp an hr is a myth) I laughed. That's a good joke man
  12. Congratulations!!! You've dicovered what the Eagle eye shield is meant to be used for =D> (range vs mage) The eagle eye is a good shield because it also gives a range offensive, the only other shields that do that are books, which give little to no defense. I got an Eagle Eye for warring, since I range during wars, and as far as damage taken is concerned, I've noticed no difference from when I used a spectral. However, that small range boost moved me from rarely missing, to never missing. I do agree with the Arcane vs Farseer though.
  13. Kinda funny that 88 summoning is such a big deal for a lot of people, but I very rarely (read: never) use unicorns. I can see this cape having potential applications for slayer with a steel titan. It's because people who are just getting around to 88 summoning usually don't have access to the wonderful world of Turmoil and Soul split, when defense and healing just don't matter anymore. I rarely use Unicorns myself either, I still think it's something to be happy about though. I got great use out of mine when it was all I had.
  14. the eagle eye kite shield is decent in the sense it gives an offensive bonus as well as good defensive bonuses. The only other shield slots that give better range, give basically nothing to defense. Not good for general use of course, but still nice in situations like warring (which is what I have one for)
  15. I actually just canceled my membership as a final push off the edge from this update, probably for good. I only renewed it after the BTS mentioned new Dungeoneering rewards. (ROFL) Now we find out that dungeoneering shields are even worse than originally thought. On top of this, I'm sick of how stupid JaGeX is in general - currently referring to how knowledge base is ALWAYS wrong about EVERYTHING and it's the official website. This means that the dungeoneering rewards have been wrong for a year now? Don't know how long the skill has been out. They have had wrong information in the game ITSELF AS WELL. But now we find out shields are actually 7%-14% and it's not even say 300-14%... it's 300-200-14%. Someone did some quick math somewhere and Jad has to 1-hit you to soak a 3 digit number. I mean really, wtf is with all these limits on shields anyway. EVEN WITHOUT LIMITS THEY STILL SOAK LESS THAN SPIRIT SHIELDS. But another of the over 9000 idiot things of JaGeX, is what you have pointed out - the equip screen doesn't show spirit shields soaking damage. Wtf? Dung (crap) shields don't ALWAYS absorb either so why not show the absorb of spirit shields that ALSO don't ALWAYS absorb. Just completely sick of how stupid this company has gotten.     Am I jumping the gun a bit too much when I say I hope this mean you may actually stop ranting at every single update Jagex does? The knowledge base said up to those percentages. The shields still have a regular defensive value which is very high, which doesn't make them useless. The ability is a bonus, not the main selling point. On the KB, yes it often has an error or an explanation that is worded badly, but do you have any idea on the amount of work it takes to write the KB? We often have mistakes here on Tip.it, and we have a very large team working on everything to a very high standard. They don't have a large amount of mistakes on the KB, they are just picked up very quickly by players and highlighted. As has been posted by a Jmod, the change to the shields was a last minute design change which means the person writing the KB had the wrong information. It isn't because they don't play the game, it isn't because they are stupid, it is a small human error. NO. Because these errors are SO [bleep]ING COMMON. A KB error a few times a year is one thing. EVERY SINGLE UPDATE lately, where content has been added to the game, and a corrosponding article added to the KB, has had multiple errors in it. Hell, look how long it took Jagex to fix the explanation of the RoW. Its up to 20% of damage over 200 LP in that combat style, it should be ALWAYS 20% of damage, over 100, at least, or something. The shields defense stats are the only thing they have going for them. it's only up to 14% actually.
  16. OF COURSE NOT! Why? It still wouldn't be as good as either the Ely or Divine, but it would still make the shields somewhat worth getting. It would be a lesser alternative for those who can't get either though. And....? There are so many items like that already....
  17. OF COURSE NOT! Why? It still wouldn't be as good as either the Ely or Divine, but it would still make the shields somewhat worth getting.
  18. You missed the point. The picture is purely for example, he isn't really trying to show Pros vs elite. The point would be to compare full sets...like bandos vs dragon.
  19. While agree the wording sucks...the KB DOES say it only applies to hits over 200.
  20. Have you even been keeping track of the people posting the pictures? About 90% of the Hood pictures are people who already have a hood bound, posting it for the soul purpose of showing it to those who haven't been lucky enough to find one to bind. [hide] Sorry, but I went 1 to nearly 89 DG without even seeing a hood drop. I know how Gremmy and Oro feel. 1-89 DG without a hood is not at all lucky. As you mentioned, they aren't rare or uncommon, we're just unlucky. That's why it's special for us. And to clarify, I wasn't trying to shoving it in either Gremmy's nor Oro's faces. I'm unlucky enough that this is picworthy, at least for me  [/hide] I was more or less directing it towards those who have been posting it to shove it in people's faces. I'm sorry it just happened to be yours (a legitimate 'finally got a hood to bind' picture) that I finally snapped at all the hoods.
  21. the Ccbow is ridiculously more accurate than a RuneCbow. And I guess my view on Cstaff is just based more on the fact that magic is so much fun to use, so the better mage stuff you have, the better it is :P
  22. Ok..I'm sorry...but is anyone else getting as annoyed as I am at all these SSH pictures? We get it, you're getting lucky, and trying to shove it in the face of people who've been trying to get one. Shadow Silk hoods aren't amazing, pic worthy drops (imo), they aren't ridiculously rare or uncommon, they're on the head of nearly every 90+ dungeoneerer
  23. I disagree with putting Cstaff last in Safe and dangerous pvp
  24. The extra damage you do in the time it takes to make gloves/boots is far more than the damage youd get because of the str boost This is of course assuming your keyer always points you to GD's. even if not, you should be fishing instead. And when that isn't an option? (which sometimes there are those moments, not often, but there are) I don't see how spending 20 seconds making gloves/boots a waste of time. This is assuming you aren't stupid about making them though. If you tele home to make them, then yea, you're wasting a lot of time. But if you have a good gatherer's ring, you'll get the two ore fast, and then you can just hold on to them until you find a furnace on the way. That is the ONLY way I can see making gloves/boots not be a waste. Any other time, you should be killing/doing puzzles/fishing.
  25. Sounds like you did know how to respond to that :P
