Did you guys agree to share the drops? It's not a forgone conclusion that every team does(and even some pro teams(wink, maz) sometimes don't share loot). As for bandos, why would having 2 inventory spots for bandos be any use over karils when the max hit is capped anyway? 6 strength bonus is next to useless when you are mauling, and if it makes to take more damage, its even more useless. extra melee defense makes her miss more I am unfamiliar with all of Nex's phase attacks, but.. If this is true, would a "sara tank" type application be useful for some phases? One person packing on as much melee defense as possible (barrows ect..) and using a SoL spec to half all her melee attacks. Benefit would be that the team would be able to hold her in one spot, on one person, and that person would be only taking half the normal damage in addition to melee armor soak, and huge melee defense. Would she use melee often enough in some phases for such a situation to be useful? or does she still use magic enough that the loss of magic defense would rip you to shreds?

I don't see how it could have been around that long  Rapid Renew is a Dungeon reward that heals x5 your normal hitpoint rate (which is 2 LP every game second). Rapid Heal only heals x2 your normal hitpoint rate (which is .8 LP per game second). Without the Dungeon reward, the "trick" would not be possible, as there would be some instances where you heal 0 with Rapid Heal. Also, in the old hit-points system this would never work because you would need 6 LP or more for your hit-points to register as +1 health. So no way this would have been around for years. Since the release of the Rapid Renewal and LP, yes. That aside, I would not expect it to be long before this is patched. Much like the "stand under corp" method, its something that was not intended to be used, that does provide a significant benefit. I'm not saying it should be patched, as I think its nice that there is actually a use for this prayer. However, odds are that Jagex never intended it to be used that way and will change it so she hits over your current hit-points; disables some prayers including the renew prayer during some forms, or some other method of disabling the "trick".
  3. Since it really hasn't been mentioned, I thought I would just throw this out there.. On Double XP weekend, people doing strictly dungeon are going to be.. pushy. Since your dungeon XP is indirectly based on your teammates performance, if your team is slow at completing floors, your bonus XP will be heavily reduced. On the flip-side, if you are "to slow" at completing floors, your team may end up kicking you and really put a damper on your XP. My advice: 1) Make sure you are up to date on all the "rushing" strategies. Getting kicked because you are to slow is going to heavily reduce your XP. I think there are some really good AOW guides on this? 2) Make sure your teammates are also up to date on "rushing" strategies. A 2 hour dungeon is going to be alot less XP than 2 1-hour dungeons. 3) Make sure you know your team. Picking a team of random people will mean you don't know if #2 is true. There are some [cabbage] heads who will kick you at the end of the floor, just for spite/fun. 4) Make a back-up plan. Have your agility materials ready. If the worst situation arises, and you can't find a decent team, have an alternative skill you are willing to train. Even if you don't use it, its better than sitting there not knowing what to do as the counter clocks down.
  4. again, again, again...(yeah, i can keep repeating this forever) Efficiency doesn't exclude fun. If you think that you are a moron. Most of the efficient dungeoneering teams have been fun, while soloing is extremely boring. You are also missing an important community aspect of dungeoneering when soloing, so you might reconsider those views. Also remember that "fun", "boring" and "perfectionist" are all points of view. In one persons situation, they may set a goal of clearing an entire floor of all NPC's. To aspire to reach this goal would mean you reach "perfection" once you complete it. You can't get any more "perfect" at elimination of NPC's than actually clearing them all. That being said, this is not always "efficient". You can still be "perfect" at gaining as much additional non-dungeon XP as possible per floor, but be un-efficient at gaining XP per hour in dungeon and non-dungeon skills by doing so. Nobody is really saying rushing dungeon isn't fun for everyone, but they are also not saying rushing dungeon is fun for everyone. Its a point of view, and to force your point of view on someone else and tell them that is the way it HAS to be, is neither helpful nor good advice. That being said... Using ranged is not efficient in a dungeon for XP/hr. However, since it appears you are not after the best XP/hr, ranged is a good way to complete dungeons. It allows you to safe-spot alot of monsters, which you mentioned is a useful tactic you wanted to expand upon. In the case of a bow, I found sag short bow (or the best you can use) to be useful. On monsters such as warriors, using magic is far superior. Binding a (empowered) firestaff, arrows, and a bow may be a good idea. You could alternatively bind a bow, melee weapon, and arrows for a more close range approach. Longbow is slow and has some powerful ranged attack points, however I find these are often not needed in solo dungeons. The majority of the NPC's will be lower levels, and you should have little trouble hitting non-warriors with a shortbow. You can always swap later if you prefer one to the other.
  5. There is a way to speed up the removal of the icon, but it will take a minimum of 3 months to do it. Currently your name is: #newname (last known as #oldname) 1) Switch your name to: #newname2 (last known as #newname) -28 days pass- 2) Switch back to: #newname (last known as #newname2) The fact that #newname2 has only been held for 28 days means the icon will go away very quickly. It usually takes about 1-2 months after you do step #2 for the icon to vanish. Original name icons can easily take up to 8 months or longer to vanish, depending on how long you have had the name. While the icon is unsightly, you can pick a funny name for your #newname2, so that your "last known as" can be at least interesting while you wait for it to vanish.
  6. I hope you didn't mean me  If you did, then I'm sorry. All I did was ask if blue or red was better and the only answer I got was "use green or GTFO". Anyways, thank you for the posts Grimey and Sir. It was just a simple question, and your information was all I was really looking for.
  7. Thank you for your opinion on what the "required" items to use are, however that was not my question. Neither of those items are required to deal damage to Nex, so neither are "mandatory to have" aside from teams that have requirements for them. I'm planning on doing LS masses (without any LSP) just for fun, so "mandatory item choices" are irrelevant. I am asking what is the best "welfare" special weapon to use is. Would a DDS be ideal for helping kill the mages faster, or is it simply just best to use a EEE since nother special will be of very much use? Please keep the "Risk 40M+ or don't kill it" mindset out of this thread please?
  8. Semi-Hijack, although still somewhat relevant to the OT: I don't have enough (nor an interest) to re-buy claws. I'm only interested in doing a Nex a few hours a week at most, and thus don't want to pour any remaining cash I have left into "optimum Nex gear". Arma + RcB should work fine for what I'm trying to accomplish. What would the the best "welfare" spec weapon to use that has a low cost/risk?
  9. Oh, I see. I wasn't including the actual money you spent for that round into the costs for winning. Irregardless, the point still stands that using the method you have the odds in your favor for a profitable payout in the long run. The only situation where it would fail is if you rolled 0/10, as anything 1/10 or greater would yield you profit. Averages say you will win 4/10 times, so odds in your favor that within the first 7 rolls you going to get at least one win. If you only cared about not losing money, you could easily use this method 10 times to make 10M, and then bite the bullet and put a 40% chance on turning your 10M into 20M. In the end you would not lose (assuming you don't roll any 0/10) any money and have the (less than average) chance to make a lot more. It's still holds a risk, but if the money is only sitting in your bank and you don't care if you lose it, why not?
  10. Ah, I see what you mean now. I suppose that's a loophole to the game. If you continue to double every time, you would make profit the first time you rolled your 40% chance victory. Odds say that you should at least win 4 in 10, so unless you are unlucky you would win by at least your 3rd or 4th try. (See in notes below). [hide=Math Stuffs] Starting at 1M the first bet and doubling each time. #1 = 1M bet (LOSE = 1M lost ) (WIN = 2-1 = 1M Total Profit) #2 = 2M bet (LOSE = 3M lost ) (WIN = 4-2-1 = 1M Total Profit) #3 = 4M bet (LOSE = 7M lost ) (WIN = 8-4-2-1 = 1M Total Profit) #4 = 8M bet (LOSE = 15M lost ) (WIN = 16-8-4-2-1 = 1M Total Profit) #5 = 16M bet (LOSE = 31M lost ) (WIN = 32-16-8-4-2-1 = 1M Total Profit) #6 = 32M bet (LOSE = 63M lost ) (WIN = 64-16-8-4-2-1 = 1M Total Profit) #7 = 64M bet (LOSE = 127M lost ) (WIN = 128-64...-1 = 1M Total Profit) #8 = 128M bet (LOSE = 255M lost ) (WIN = 256-128...-1 = 1M Total Profit) #9 = 256M bet (LOSE = 511M lost ) (WIN = 515-256...-1 = 1M Total Profit) #10 = 512M bet (LOSE = 1023M lost = Ragequit ) (WIN = 1024-512...-1 = 1M Total Profit) [/hide] So your right that you can make a "guaranteed" profit on the game (Assuming you don't pull 0/10 odds). You wouldn't even have to stick with the same host as long as you can make sure you bid x2 the amount you bid last. As soon as you hit your victory, you simply restart back at the beginning and repeat the cycle. How much profit you made would depend on what point you rolled your winning score. The only problem is you have to have enough cash that you continue playing until you do win. I would imagine a lot of dice hosts require a high minimum bid or don't allow you to continue rolling to prevent against this method. It works as long as you don't pull a long losing streak.
  11. It doesn't matter if you play the game once or 1000 times, the winning ratio is always going to be (4/10). You might get a luck streak and make some money, but the longer you play, the closer your going to get to that 40% win average. Aside from a lucky roll, there is no way to win money playing the game for a long period of time. if you lost 999 games in a row, doubling your bet each time, but won the 1000th game, you would be ahead Yes, but the last roll is independent of all the previous rolls. Doubling your roll every time wont give you a better chance to win once you risk 50% of your pot at the end of your doubling bets. If you lose, you still lose 50% of your 4/10 winnings. That's not to say you WILL lose money, but the longer your play the more chances you roll 1-6 instead of 7-10. What would really determine if you make or lose money is your last 3 rolls when you risk 25%, 50%, and 100% of your pot. If you risk 1 roll you have a 40% chance to win. If you roll 1000 times you will average out to 40% winnings. Therefore it would be safe to say while 1 or 1000 rolls would have the same average payout, a single (or few) roll would have a better factor of luck in not showing the average rolls. So while they are the same probability of winning or losing, a single roll can mask that probability due to the fact the average percent does not have enough time to even out. If you flip a coin once, its still a 50/50 chance to win, but you have a greater chance to stay ahead if you flip heads once and don't allow another attempt for tails to show. Im even confusing myself :-? , but I hope you get what I mean?
  12. IF you are going to play, It would be advised to bet small for 3 games, say in 1M amounts. Chances are out of 3 rounds, you are going to win at least 1 of 3, unless your very unlucky. If you lose 2 of 3, you only lose 1M, but if you win 2 of 3 you gain 1M. Any more than 3 rounds and you start putting your average to the 40% mark and you WONT make money. So if you plan to do it, do it in a small amounts and don't keep pushing your luck.
  13. These are more entertaining to watch than people actually succeeding at luring! Lol'ed when the one in ghostly robes died after you 2 speced them. Shame your hunter level isn't level 70. You could have a fun time with imp boxes. Bank whip with box when items appear, pick up items, die, profit?
  14. I know you bought up some good points, and understand the situation, however I believe Jagex really has no other options (that don't directly hurt themselves) which is why they choose to use the law as they do. If I were a company leader and I was put between the decision of removing a company via a shady loophole or attempting to remove my profits directly by modifying my game, I would choose the less direct option. Perhaps you would choose a different choice, however as long as the option exists people will take advantage of it. It's just like botting in the game. If people all around you can bot, you start to think about what it would be like if you did it too. We know that Jagex tried the direct option when they removed the wilderness. It worked for a short while, but the problem eventually worked back into the game. At that point they were removed of options since they can no longer fight bots directly. Lets face it, bots are so advanced now and advance at such a fast rate, removing them is simply not logical anymore. The only way they can fight the bots now is to remove any connection with the game to kill them at the root when they are created. As a quote once said "When two AI are pitted against each-other, the AI with superior hardware [and software] will always win." If Jagex attempts to find bots and remove them directly they will always be one step behind. This law, however unethical it may be, is really the only option Jagex has. Can it be misused? Maybe. But as long as the government allows the law to exist, there is no reason they shouldn't or wont take advantage of it.
  15. It depends which strategy you are using. I own both a DFS and Spectral, and have used both on many occasions. I have found certain situations I prefer the DFS and some I prefer the Spectral. On a solo-2.5-hybrid DFS is one of the best shields you can use (trumped only by ESS or CKS). You pray mage around 98% of the time, so magic defense is negligible. Prayer bonus is nice, but melee and range defense are more important. In a group you will be killing prime much quicker, and have more time that you will not be praying magic. The extra magic defense from the spectral really helps keep the spins magic damage down, and since supreme dies faster range defense is less of an issue. While reducing overall damage is not a "critical" issue if you have a Unicorn/Yak, there is no need to use a DFS over +3 prayer when you don't need the extra defense. BSS works just as well to be honest; Spectral is just an added bonus. If you plan to solo mage rex only, Spectral might be the better option as long as Prime stays off. It also is more of a comfort incase Prime switched to you and you were a second late flipping on your prayer. +30 magic defense could be the difference between 0 and 600. @ doing Zammy: I would recommend a group for doing Zammy. While you *can* solo him, there is very little reason to as his drops are less than par with other bosses. A duo or trio using SOL specs to tank and praying magic are very effective against him. Using this method you take almost no damage and can usually survive solely on a unicorn and some food for emergencies. Zammy's max while under SOL spec is only 250. With his attacks at speed 4, Unicorn, and +300 (using DFS) melee defense, he hardly does any damage compared to tanking him with melee prayer and hides.
  16. @ above, I believe he meant in a normal conversation. Saying it when your angry is one thing, but using it in every sentence is another story. Any yes, there are people that use curse words in almost every single sentence they type. Anyways, The optional filter is much better now. There really isn't any reason to "circumvent" the chat filter anymore (not that there was a reason before, but people did it to sound "cool", since they weren't supposed to be able to say it). People who will want to see it will see the words, and people who don't, won't need to worry about seeing the words much at all. A win-win for everyone. I'm looking forward to this quest, and hopefully it might have some nice Lore attached to it.
  17. Ya I can't imagine the look on that persons face when they put the hat in to sell for 1.3Billion, didn't check the number, saw it sold instantly, and then saw the 130m instead. Gotta pay attention to your digits now. I almost offered 22M for a verac's helm (which is 2.2m). Never going to take out the whole cash stack to buy something in G.E. ever again.
  18. I see this as putting a band-aid on a severed limb. The root of the problem is not the fact that players are now separated by those who get fast xp, and those who don't, but fact you now HAVE to set your goal as fast xp (and be knowledgeable in it) in order to get a team. Players like myself who like to do dungeons for fun and not grind xp or tokens find it very difficult to find a team. Not only do the "pro teams" not want me because I don't rush floors, but the "normal" teams don't me anymore because I don't rush floors. To me it appears that everyone is focused on the destination part of the skill, rather than the journey. So what about the people that play it for fun and not and don't want "to learn how to gain fast and efficient xp"? This is a growing problem effecting both groups, so I see it as more of an issue than just "new players can't get teams because they are less experienced at rushing".
  19. Ya this is how most games with micro-transactions work anyways. For example, one of the MMO's I play right now offers upgrade items and special items (which are un-tradeable), which you can only get though the "item mall". This keeps the company in-charge over the Gold sellers because buying in-game gold cant help you get those items. The game can still make money as normal and could care less if people buy or sell gold as it's not costing the company money. On the subject of botting, gaming companies are starting to realize that AI is reaching a point now where it's not worth fighting anymore. Heck, even new games now have a botting function built into the game itself, so everyone has the option to do it if they want to. It's much easier to embrace and utilize the new technology rather to waste resources trying to fight a losing war. Jagex is simply finding ways to use the technology to their advantage. If you think that other players "degrade" your own accomplishments, then maybe you are only focused on how other people perceive you rather than how you perceive yourself. Is it fair that 7 people in a 100m dash run while one person uses a Moped? No, its not fair. But the person riding a Moped doesn't take away from the fact you just ran your best personal time. I would not bot on Runescape, nor have I botted, but I could care less if they do or don't; As long as Jagex actually attempts to slow them down to a rate a player can reach, or botting is put into the game by Jagex. This rule doesn't change anything other than give people a second chance. Items/Stats are wiped so it doesn't really give anyone any benefit.
  20. As Grimey stated earlier, the only time an item would really go out of its 5% range is a game update. Other than updates, almost all items are stable in the long term, and a prices based on what is traded will correct itself rather quickly. As per merchant clans: Merchant clans worked by buying and item at max, rising the price, buying at max again, raising the price ect.. The only reason they were successful was because they could "force" the minimum price up. With the new system it would be VERY difficult to pull this off, as there is no floor to say tomorrow a player has to sell for 5% more than today's price. Merchant clans could spent millions to try and raise an item, but if the players continue to sell for a low or static price, an item would never rise in price (at least not to a unrealistic level). In other words, it would no longer be possible to artificially raise a price unless the sellers choose to rise the cost of the items they were selling. Someone ALWAYS wants to sell a penny cheaper than someone else to get a sale, so realistically "massively forcing" the price up shouldn't be an issue unless another exploit of some sort arises.
  21. what does this even mean It means having mini GE "Stalls" in each city so you don't have to go to Varrock every time you want to buy/sell something via the G.E. I would assume this would/should never happen however, because part of the benefit of free trade is player interaction away from the G.E. If you were to put a G.E. station in Falador east, people would just mine, and then dump their mined ores at minimum in the G.E., go mine more and repeat. If the G.E. is only located in Varrock, people mine and then can bank their ores and offer to sell at anyone in the bank, or continue mining and then go to Varrock and sell their ores at G.E. Part of a plus of free trade is finding "deals" from people who don't want to travel to sell their items, and sell cheaper for smaller quantities. If you put a G.E. in every city you take away that element.
  22. I have the same exact problem man, idk why the hell it does that, but it will freeze up for no reason, and just sits there, then i have to x-log... go back in... and im dead...USually for me though, it happens if I click away from somewhere, then click back on Rs. and it's frozen. Already lost like 10+ korasi swords lol... I also lost 15m @ bandos, and cant even take pics. Ya it happens to me quite frequently, but only on moderate or high ping worlds. Anything over 80+ usually. It appears to be random, but it is defiantly something Jagex is doing with their servers. I've seen it happen to other people while playing FoG, as they accuse me of DDosing them. I know what they are talking about because it has happened to me several times as well. Unspam: This is from a little while ago, but decided to drop a decent portion of my bank, due to not playing as much from school and stuff. Was feeling generous and figured someone else could use it more than me.
  23. Sorry, I always thought it was 60 seconds for items to vanish. 60 or 120 doesn't really matter though because that wasn't the point of my post :P I wasn't suggesting a time change on retrieving items, simply stating that instead of the old items being visible only to you for a short time, everyone will be able to see them instantly now. Thus making corp much more of a risk (which it should be).
