Runefest - Insider Session Breaking Bots
Karvinen replied to RoswellCrash's topic in General Discussion
To monitor for interactions between programs requires a low level driver and cannot be done in java. It also cannot be done without a user downloading and installing a piece of software that requires administrative access on the computer. You're forgetting that RS is a signed applet, which means that it can do everything that a native executable can do (including running native code). If Jagex wanted, they could make a drive-by installer for PunkBuster/equivalent (admin privileges are required for installing it, of course). The actual RuneScape client is about 250MB and it's usually installed at C:\.jagex_cache_32\runescape. -
I'm a programmer and know a little java. I'm no expert but i do know what is and isn't possible. Ignoring everything said in the past few pages and focusing on the topic of the thread: The whole system relies on player reports, kids are always going to ask if you're a bot and if you honestly can't take one second to type 'no' then why are you wasting your obviously precious time playing runescape in the first place? A bot could easily be programmed to answer "no".

The drivers aren't the latest. You have the version 266.10. The latest version on NVIDIA's site is 275.33.

Could you post a screenshot of GPU-Z?
-
Jagex uses a HTML tag that overrides the user's memory allocation setting, so adding e.g. -xmx128m to the Java control panel will do nothing.
-
Could you post the error log (hs_err_pid...) in the installation folder (C:\Users\(your Windows username)\AppData\Local\jagexlauncher\bin\)?

Lucien seems to have some similarities with the Norse god Loki, e.g. shapeshifting, not originally a god, betrayer. Perhaps we will play the role of Heimdall, who blows the Frostenhorn...oops, I meant Gjallarhorn, and kills Loki in Ragnarök (called "The End of Things" in RuneScape). Could The End of Things mean a second god war (with Zaros, Zamorak, Lucien and perhaps Saradomin)? There's a conspiracy to remove the edicts of Guthix (revealed in Legacy of Seergaze).

C [hw3d.dll+0x145d] Seems to be Jagex's problem. Not sure if a buggy graphics driver could cause this. Could you post a GPU-Z screenshot or something like that.
-
Reinstalling Java will not help, since the client has its own Java. Can you post the error logs in the jagexlauncher directory?
-
The error logs are in the directory of jagexlauncher[Caution: Executable File]. Right click the icon and click "open location" (or whatever it is in your language).

I don't see this on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0b12pre) Gecko/20110210 Firefox/4.0b12pre.

That's strange. I thought running on lowest settings possible would be better, but if that's not the case, then i am for graphics. The graphics rendering system in the "software" mode is native (written in e.g. C++ and compiled), so it is faster than the safe mode, which is completely Java (bytecode).

Check the GPU load while playing RS with GPU-Z or a similar program. If it is 100%, a better graphics card will help. According to Jagex, the RS animation system always uses the CPU. Also, multiple CPU cores are not used. That's why you can have 10 FPS in Grand Exchange, even though GPU load is only 20%.

This bug seems to have nothing to do with Java. C [hw3d.dll+0x1eee] C [hw3d.dll+0x145d] This is a dll of RuneScape. Judging from the name, it contains functions for the hardware graphics modes (DirectX, OpenGL). I think switching to the software mode would avoid hw3d.dll completely.

I didn't even need to go to Armoured Zombies to know that they would be packed. Just wait until the first rush of people wear out their gloves, and it won't be so bad. As I said, I'm going to spend the time trying to get a Deflector. :) You don't need to go to the fastest spot. According to the mod quote above, you will get the same amount of xp anyways. Faster xp makes the gloves wear out faster.

Does it work with a new profile? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing%20profiles

I agree with this, sure, older toolkits were better when there was a way to switch worlds without a waiting time. I do believe Jagex will eventually modify their client and I'm sure someone will soon release a really decent modified version of the official Client seeing as they provided the source code for it. The user interface part (jagexappletviewer.jar) is closed source. Only the Java runtime environment (OpenJDK) and the launcher exe are open source.

Simply instance all the Wilderness areas required for quests or provide an alternative path for the non-Wilderness quest areas that can be only reached from the Wilderness. That way there are no lore changes required. E.g. Defender of Varrock: zombie trail hunting -> instance Temple at Senntisten: Ghorrock castle -> provide an alternative non-wild path there (via Zemouregal's castle?) Have a character offering free teleports to minigames or provide alternative paths (tunnels?). Moving the Fist of Guthix completely outside Wilderness would require lore changes. If I remember correctly, the Wilderness is dead due to an energy blast caused by Guthix attempting to destroy the Stone of Jas at the place currently known as the Fist of Guthix.

Elves and vampyres working together would not be unrealistic considering that they are both on RuneScape (i.e. they are not on separate storylines, like the other on RS and the other on WoW), but there's not much evidence about it. The mourner HQ daeyalt carts were removed, which suggests that they were there accidentally. When you make a theory, you should check if there is other evidence that is consistent with the theory. For example, if there was also a vampyre related symbol there, it would lessen the chance of coincidence / glitch. Another example: let's look at this picture from Daemonheim: Is that symbol a Seren symbol ()? The symbol is on an altar, so it is not random decoration or a company logo, but a religious symbol. There is also a letter S: stands for Seren? In Daemonheim there is also a crystal puzzle room, in which you will have to make all the lights reach the center at same time. This is clearly enough evidence to speculate about the connections between Seren, her followers and Daemonheim. Pictures from Wikia.

For the second time: the RuneScape graphics renderer is not written in Java, but most likely in C or C++. We wouldn't have the "HD" mode if Jagex used pure Java only.
-
The RuneScape graphics renderer is not Java. If you go to the Jagex cache folder, you'll notice some DLLs, like jaggl.dll and jagdx.dll. Only the safe mode uses Java rendering (to be the "safe mode"). See also this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_Native_Interface

There's 25, 26 and 29 in the thread 16-17-733-61852274. Does anybody have the final one? -

Don't they only give a 1% per level boost though? And, on the topic of new lore, didn't Jagex already force RuneWiki to take them down? Something about copyright or whatever. I think they removed them voluntarily. I remember reading a discussion about NPC dialogs and copyright.
