  1. Personally I really enjoy the voice overs. I think it adds a lot of quality to the quest. And it makes them think more about the dialogue. Tbh I don't think the voice overs have anything to do with how long quests take; the music composition probably takes twice as long as voiceovers and the coding, graphic design etc. all take waaaaaayyyyyyyy longer than audio. Look how much more indepth the lore is going to get a real proper story opposed to run around throwing these objects at people...why? Because erm the dwarf tripped over a twig and found a magic hedgehog. Yup thats the story. And the overall polish opposed to recycled graphics and animations we are getting all sorts of new ones with the quests. And the new cinematic cutscenes. The entire package is of a much higher quality and as they always say Quality > Quantity. If we get 1 quest every month or 2 of this standard I'm MUCH happier than having 2 a month that take 5 minutes and don't really add anything to the game in terms of story/lore/content.
  2. They could have implemented a process within the code which was pushed to the servers, and then in order to disable the process, they needed to restart the servers. Just a guess. Or the fact that accounts data is copied from the storage servers to the live servers upon log in and (aside from the periodic back-ups) is not re-saved to storage servers until you log off. Therefore any data to do with no trade allowance or w/e due to these false "bans" would be on the live servers with the account and even IF Jagex did a back-end fix to the storage servers people would be over-writing their no-ban status when they logged off. Ergo they restart the game servers to ensure everyone is logged off before rectifying the stored data to avoid the issue. I suspect in this case it was less a genuine reboot, more just using the term since players understand what it means (count down and booted off) in order to ensure database fixes did not spawn issues.
  3. Doubt it, nothing's ever resolved that quickly with Jagex. well i'm still banned so i guess you are right... (unless my mysterious alter ego decided to do some botting of course...) I'd point out that they said they fixed the BACK END issue to stop it happening, the post also noted that they needed to do a server reboot to clear the bans already doled out and that this would be happening 'shortly'. Ergo you still being banned is not indicative of it not working only indicative that they have not done the server reboot yet in order to clear the false bans.
  4. Well I, for one, would love to share your enthusiasm and optimism, but as of this moment in time, I do not. Perhaps you’re right and the actual anti-bot mechanisms aren't in place yet. Perhaps the bots I am seeing have been “warned” already and simply continue to flaunt their mechanized indifference in the face of their immanent demise. I don’t know. What I DO know is that this notion of “hot spotting” seems somewhat farcical when it’s been abundantly clear where the bots generally congregate and has been for quite some time. You know, it’s moments like these when I get that distinct feeling that the "game developers" spend far too much time in their own game boss killing, and not any time whatsoever in training skills or killing lower level monsters, because, if they did, they’d fricken KNOW already where the bot hotspots are … At least that's my impression, anyways. Again I'd point out the hotspotting was referenced in relation to moving forward and new workarounds emerging when they brought it up in live stream. It certainly was NOT implied to be a case of they need it to know the current hotspots as they do not know where bots are. The point being if there was a sudden work around where by bots made a resurgence at chins (assuming of course this bot stuff all pans out and they go byebye) the hot-mapping via reports would draw attention to the new issue allowing them to get on it quicker or in the same vein if there was suddenly a bunch of MA bots the hot mapping would draw attention.
  5. Some how I feel it wasn't picking up all the bots so Jamflex cranked up the settings but went to far so it's like amg you typed/click to do the same action twice in a row u macro bad man SMUSHY TIME but then backend is just like wtf dude u mental don't worry you no banned but erm yeah trade and stuff might be a bit of an issue for a while.
  6. I get the feeling though Botany Bay has launched the detection system may still be on training wheels as it were, sort of Jagex looking at data on who it *wants* to ban in a given area they haven't tackled yet to triple check for false positives before telling it yes you are picking these up correctly be free to ban hammer, afterall they did say it is a learning detection system or perhaps the sheer volume of bots is causing bottlenecking issues, many of the larger worlds seem to be rather laggy. @above Jagex did say that though it was in reference to discovering loopholes and such rather than initial roll out, the point being player reports would create a 'hotspot map' of where bots are so they can look at the area and train the detection to deal with that area. Which would kinda fit in with my optimistic stance on this things rollout, could be a case of it's still being trained for the chin bots etc.
  7. probably read it when I'm done with Forward the Foundation, but let me tell you that charging the same for an eBook as a hardback is very poor. I would have expected better. I'm considering getting it myself, but it is rather pricey for an ebook and unsure if it will be my cup of tea.
  8. [hide]It was just a way to set the Devourer up better (and the other desert goods too really, as well as setting Leela up at the Senit... temple palce properly opposed to her just re-appearing) and tie some pieces of the Desert plot together eg why the Scarabas guys gone after Soph etc. The only other quest that overtly features her thus far is Itchalrin's Little Helper where the wanderer turned out to be her and it was never really set up or explained; I mean by the red eye thing we all KNOW Sumona is her latest guise but in official lore our players haven't sussed that out. Not reall any retconing required aside from removing a couple of dialogues lines from Helper so instead being like hu the eff are you? We are like amg its you again![/hide]
  9. How the heck do you get the shield and the axe thingy, totally stumped!
  10. To me: The Gielinor surface map has had all unexplored mapsquares filled in, to give the world a more complete feel This bit is AMAZING should add just that much more realism to have no more sharp black box edges on the main land.
  11. If you have already passed ten years I don't think there is a way, though I do vaguely recall a jmod mentioning making Hans so he can tell you; though I'm not sure if that was a we have done or a we will look at doing. Besides it's not like there's a huuuuge range of dates it could be if you get 10 year cape. Due to how jagex stored data they only had creation dates from late feb 02 onwards and rs started in jan 01 so if you can get/have got 10 year vet cape already your creation date has to be Jan 01 - 26th Sept 02 (assuming you got it today)
  12. I kinda wonder if they might be new skill boosting outfits in them pics. Can't place the panda/samuri type one buuuuuut the first one certainly puts me in mind of the spirt wolf ergo summoning
  13. Yeah cause before it was the not-at-all the same method of swapping between the quest tab and the task tab to do the same thing. *facepalm* Are you just a troll? Or do you have some sort of superiority complex? Before it used to be one click between the quest tab and the tasks tab. Now you have to click the task tab, select open noticeboard, wait for the interface to pop up, select quest, wait again for the interface and then switch between both while having not being able to see what is going on with your character or use any of the other interfaces. Seriously though, was there really any reason for treating me like I'm an idiot? Not being a troll, just what you said 'switching between the tabs [for tasks and quests] is very annoying' hasn't changed at all really. Once you are in the noticeboard there is still 1 task (well achievements if we are being correct) tab and 1 quest tab, switching between the two is still just one click. What you further described clarifies what you actually meant is annoying which is more than just switching between the tabs, it is the process of going from the live game to the noticeboard tab into the noticeboard and then swapping between achievement and quest tabs.
  14. It's also a mute that you can probably get removed entirely from a simple appeal as it's obviously bogus and most probably an accidental automatic mute triggered by '...' and 'youtube' in the same line or an overzealous report faced with a skim-reading end of shift customer support staff who saw youtube and just thought it was an advert (tbf the last line does read an awful lot like what some adbots start out with). I don't see the big drama at all, mistakes happen. That's life. Also doesn't the evidence interface stuff have spam all over it saying this is private you ARE NOT allowed to share it with others or we will like stab you and stuff? Ergo bad idea to copy and paste the evidence.
  15. Yeah cause before it was the not-at-all the same method of swapping between the quest tab and the task tab to do the same thing. *facepalm*
  16. I did not use the word invented, nor did I say people can't associate it with AC; with a franchise such as AC being so known for the free running the associate is obviously there. I specifically said it bugs me that people jump to 'inspired' for such a limited connection between the two. I mean in the AC universe we haven't really had any locations that look anything like Al-Kharid does other than perhaps Derinkuyu in ACR, but even so that's a much duller place and carved into the rock rather than a built style, and nowhere has been particularly desert related. Where as Prince of Persia universe we literally have the exact styling Al-Kharid is going for in desert locations with the flamboyant extravagant colours and styles of dress that the NPCs are wearing. So to me it is rather tenuous to say AC has/might have 'inspired' these new quests because there's only a slight link to be made where as something like Prince of Persia shares a whole lot more stylistically so is a much more likely inspiration.
  17. Tomorrow. It takes time to type it up plus they do finish the stream at like 10.30pm sunday.
  18. It kind bugs me that ANYTHING with any sort of remotely parkour/free-running like elements these days is suddenly inspired by AC in peoples minds. Given the nature of the area and the styling of the NPCs there is far more Prince of Persia vibe going on, which even fits with the parkour-ish elements since they did that way before AC did.
  19. If you can not spot they were joke spoilers but only said you havent read DwD I am concerned considering events and facts from CoK, SoS and FfC kinda render all of them impossible especially FfC given that it runs parallel to DwD and give us at least a tiny snippet that indicates where Dany is quite late in the book.
  20. Wow that updated equipment screen is definitely a heck of a lot better for understanding wtf things mean. Nice to see the effectiveness is tiered nicely so ranged weapons vs mage armour = pwned, vs melee armour = poor, vs ranged armour = not bad but not brilliant.
  21. Whilst false positives are certainly not good I do wonder if there are any more details here that may shed some light on the nature of how this occured. Like do you/have you used mousekeys? Autohotkey? Gone on dragon bot killing sprees? Been hijacked at any point recently? Has jagex given any evidence for the ban?
  22. Maybe they expect that this will be the first signature hero quest that newer players come across. Kinda like how they kept adding Mahjarrat quests earlier in the storyline than those that already existed, so the "first" quest was actually more of a prequel to current players, but newer players would see it first. This would seem like a good theory, expect for Blood Fact which features Xeina, has no level requirements and can basically be considered a combat tutorial PLUS with the two week free members trial dumping you to burthorpe for the main tutorial you meet Lysa the smith already, all be it briefly.
  23. After a while of CBA I finally finished Feast for Crows and shall be starting Dance with Dragons.
  24. The thing is some of these things you are saying should be included ARE there. I have a challenge to fish cavefish sitting in my system and I have 99 fising, also I entirely disagree that things should be excluded just because they are the main training method. The system is about variety as in using ALL options, this includes the ones we do anyway; plus it's about giving us ideas of things to do we may not be planning to do as in getting us to go do a few rounds of pp when we might of been planning to sit and cook rocktails. The variety to which they refer does not necessarily mean doing alternate methods it means doing an assortment of things that you may not of thought to do creating variety in your personal day-to-day gameplay.
  25. Higher levels are not restricted to higher level content only. What they advertised as the purpose of this system is undermined by activities like that. If they do choose methods like that, they should maybe consider twisting them. Taking tasks from Chaeldar instead if you have Kuradel "unlocked" as a slayer master, or fletching rune brutals, or looting the sarcophagi (which is undone due to the mummy) of the room. Tiny tweaks like that address the issue of not undermining their goal while preserving the integrity of offering high leveled daily challenges. True higher levels CAN do lower level content, but the key phrase that they used is "level appropriate", mining tin or copper at level 80 odd mining is possible but it certainly is not level appropriate. Using slayer masters equally isn't level appropriate. And there are plenty of challenges that are alternate methods not normally used like making urns or black d-hide items for crafting, making various furniture for construction, catching or cooking specific foods etc. Like I said yes some of them touch on the preferred methods, but not all do there is plenty of quirks and variety in there if you care to look throughly at the entire 700 of em.
