  1. Yeah, I don't think there's anything wrong with the exp payouts for challenges. After all you can only get one challenge a day and a maximum of 5. I think the system is really good overall, it just feels like a nice daily bonus in a random skill you wouldn't normally do. It's interesting that you phrase that last sentence in that way. "Something you wouldn't normally do." Yet c6 floors, slaying any assigned monster, pyramid plunder, and fletching yew longbows are all top training methods for their skills. (Fletching is debatable, but it's one of the more cost effective methods compared to sinking millions into broad arrows.) I saw the daily rewards system as a way of revitalizing some of the more odd or forgotten content. Don't get me wrong, I love this system and my only substantial gripe is that there are too little daily challenges given per-day. And I know in the first two days we've only experienced a small portion of what this very large system has to offer us. But it seems to miss the mark if it's directing you to use the already popular methods of training their respective skills. There's 700 of these *some* of them are bound to touch on the normal content, especially in higher levels were the variety of level appropriate actions narrows down substantially.
  2. Judging from values I've seen it works on the GE value of composite ingredients of what you hand in. Taking the summer pies from above: (760+221+68+48)*331=363k 760gp - pie shell 221gp - cooking apple 68gp - watermelon 48gp - strawberry So assuming it *did* all buy at ge mid value a 360k return is pretty spot on in terms of money. Though as you said you over-paid and used bake-pie spell so it was bound to come at a high cost.
  3. Item return value does seem to match up pretty well, sometimes a bit under (but small enough margin to be like well the xp makes up for tht) sometimes a little over. I had 10 sara brew task 4.1k per nest, 3.2k per toadflax so total spend of 73k, I got like 74k worth of pess back
  4. Apprently the bots now have a third death - a dragon swoops down and grabs em.
  5. Dg as an entir Well rune costs have been vastly reduced so mage is no longer expensive, as for ranged weapons the reason they are expensive atm is simple supply & demand. The supply or good arrows etc. is low because people don't want them so people leave drops on the ground or alch them once they are useful the supply should shift which would effect prices; plus in all the tweaking etc. Jagex could easily do several things such as lower ammo breakage, increased drops of assorted ammo items heck they could even introduce more 'magical infinite' ammo items
  6. This is true, but Jagex are using the name as a single word and as a single word the censor blocks part of it.
  7. It's the "dramatic death" emote from the Citadel Theatre batch ... Still, it's a nice effect. Also seeing as this is happening to auto-talker's a form of suffocation makes sense contextually. They are choking on their words kinda thing
  8. Is there some way the censor can be tweaked slight so that Bot.w.a.t.ch is not partially bleeped due to the swear in the middle? Seeing as Jagex (from the livestream) has been calling the bot detection system by this name we kinda need to be able to write it. (In case it wasn't obvious I added the dots to avoid the censor)
  9. Good to see this happening, they did say it was easiest to spot the level 3 fresh chat bots as obviously they lack like any action other than that. Seems like the reports on them are triggering an automated check. Also from the live stream what they seemed to say was, this week Optimus (aka botnuke 2) will be going live. Bot watch (the detection system) has been live for a few weeks but in a passive learning state. Next week Botany Bay will go live and alongside it Bo[bleep]ch will kick into active action of banning.
  10. If your weapon is not sheathed, you will display your combat. If it is sheathed, you will display your total level. Combat level is displayed upon entering combat if total level is shown before entering combat. I know, "in the situations it's shown" I said. If you don't want total shown just unsheathe your weapon. Problem solved. I don't see why so many people some how think it's bad to show total opposed to combat outside of combat context. I mean combat level is like the most of irrelevant bit of information about your character ever when you aren't fighting something; heck even in pvm it's kinda meaningless because no-one *needs* to know it other than you about the only circumstance it really is truly vital is pvp.
  11. Nope, I'm gonna stick to my original plan and sell it in December. I have a feeling it won't be worth over 10m like I thought. But I'm at least hoping it will be worth more than it is now. Also, when the hell will this item be off the squeal of fortune? Jagex said it would be off by the end of the summer. Well, now it's September so clearly it's winter and the summer is over. Judging by Jagex's summer promotion their summer is ending the end of september. Also by none of the major season measurements are we in winter. Astrologically we are in Autumn (which runs 1st September - 30th November) - It's not winter until 1st December in this season system. Meteorologically we are still in Summer (which runs from the June Solstice to the September Equinox, which this year is 20th June - 22nd September) - This one doesn't reckon it being winter until 21st December Ecologically we are in Serotinal (Late summer) or possibly Autumnal (Autumn) periods with the switch over being mid-late September - This one enters the Hibernal (winter) season 1st November or 1st December subject to plant type.
  12. It's not a race, you know. It is if the trimmed comp cape requires all of them. I very much doubt that. From the bts, it sounds like Tasks still exist seperately, and the goal of challenges is to make your daily training more diverse. It wouldn't make any sense to ask for them to be fully completed - that's what tasks are for. Also it kinda sounded like challenges never really get completed as such, it sounds to me very much like you beat them and get a reward and they will go away but they don't stay ticked off as it were and that on some timer (maybe a week or a month) they will come back and can be done again.
  13. Based on how all the discontinued rares went you are looking at late 2014 before it really starts to rise to much value and even that is dependant on bans alching and quitters thinning out the supply whilst new player influx forms demand. But at the same time this is an entirely new rare, we've never had a rare that we knew would be a rare in advance or that rares could be so valuable, so it's highly unpredictable. The only safe bet is if you want to make any good money off fish mask you need to sit on it for years rather than months.
  14. I'd say it's likely to be option 3 purely on the basis that the BTS video for Botany Bay was released last week and the challenge system's BTS video was this week. I would have thought if it was any other way the BTS video's would be ordered differently. He forgot option 4 al kharid this week, botany and challenge next week. That aside it's a safe bet Al-Kharid will not be this week seeing as the next bts video is about the quests and since that will be out friday it'd be pretty dumb to put out the quests before then. So I'd say option 3 is most likely, though option 1 is a possibility.
  15. They mentioned PVP areas would show combat, I imagine it's the same areas that the Solomon Store items disappear. That would be the simplest solution.. Also, I like that their beta updates seem to be getting better over time, now. I am more excited that I was that they will manage to create something good. Yeah it says in PvP areas it'll show it; also I fail to see how it screws anything at all. I mean what value does a combat level hold when you are not doing combat? It's been a long request feature that we show total level outside of combat. Plus even with that aside how is it an issue? You can sheathe and unsheathe at will with a simple key press; if you REALLLLLLLLYYYY want to show off your combat level whilst skilling just have weapons unsheathed

Still seems rather odd to me. I mean even in the grandchildren generation it is possible (not likely but possible) that none of his DNA would remain. Even if you took a linear model ergo kids = 50%, grandkids = 25% etc. It seems like the generation they actually have would have very small odds of holding any matching genes

The bit I don't understand is I heard they sent the bones from DNA testing to find out. How exactly is DNA testing supposed to find out considering we don;t have Richard III's dna in the first place?
  18. Nut surprised they said i sundays livestream (as we all knew) they do 1 week off a month usually. Challenge system is small enough (seemingly) to be bundled in with the quests or botany bay though I'd assume botany bay since content-wise that is fairly light and we do have 2 weeks left.
  19. I did a brief stint there getting rocks done. Tbh method-wise it doesn't seem to of altered to much. You can still chase nodes nicely, in fact it's probably slightly easier since they do move a bit more; but the old camping spots still get enough nodes to be workable just lose maybe 10-20k xp/hr from old rates.
  20. I don't think the audio is THAT bad, yes the mics were turned down too low at the very start but like a couple of minutes in they noticed and cranked em up, with youtube and my laptop set to max volume I could easily hear 90% of the video and it was just the first couple of minutes which I could hear when I strained (or at least enough to fathom what was being said). To me it just feels like people are watching like a minute saying can't hear it and giving up because if you can't hear after they turned the mics up a few minutes in then you got issues!
  21. What I meant by a fragment was the bit you quoted, in the text I posted, was the last clause of a sentence after a comma. Not a complete sentence as you quoted it from someone else's suggested edit. I had written: I certainly did not mean I wrote random incomplete segments, certainly many of my sentences may end up being run on or slightly off prior to edits, but that is the nature of my writing process and a factor we were actively taught to do in my studies: Let the artist get the words on the page before the idea vanishes before allowing the editor to pick back through it. Then let both work work in tandem to balance the vision with the necessities. Or in other words don't let nitpicking grammar make you lose the creative flow, but do not just leave the creative flow raw as it is liable to be quite chaotic. For the specific example I see what you are getting at though I feel some of it most definitely is stylistic preference (based on the quoted text from the essay) and some seems to be drawn from a slight misreading (not to say it may not be a writers fault that this happened) It hasn't jumped to a random sometimes happens: The inn is lit by too few candles BECAUSE the thundercord has been cut, the extra tidbit about why this occurs is just a little extra flavour since the entire purpose of the prologue is to try and formulate this world before the main story goes off on a completely different tact. I'll have to drop this back here once it's more polished, though that is liable to be months away as I always find it gets easier to polish the edges as a piece gets nearer to completion, especially as the general tone and nuances of style kind of settle down as the story finds it footings and then can be retrospectively applied. I tend to write a chapter, give it a once over, write the next two then come back again to review.
  22. And that, kids, is what we call denial. Very true. Since around July I have been keeping my stat gains in my sig. Agility, Construction and Prayer are entirely from SoF. Summoning is mostly for SoF with added trolls, promissary note and fealty xp. Prior to July I got like 85ish prayer to 90 from mostly SoF as well. I mean it IS nice to see them being more open and honest about the microtransaction stuff; but that one fact is such bs. Also it was the interesting backpedal on the news post where they did say 90% support SoF and they back-pedalled it to 90% utilise. Which is what we all figure out in the first place because its blindingly obvious that if you log on and a button flashes in ur face going amg free stoof click me click me click me you are going to do it.
  23. The thing that got me was Squeal of Neptune as the example of SoF being really successful for cosmetics and not for gp/xp. Yeah cause everybody bought spins to get the super attractive Fish Mask, not because it's set to be a discontinued item that has the potential to be worth a good 20m+ in a few years. It is literally like the worst fact to pull out as 'proof' people buy it for cosmetics that the best selling period was the one limited time promotion that had the potential to pay out millions of gp if you can wait and sit on the item. Also about no big updates it was good to hear that they have been a lot more depth into each update and that (alongside EoC) is what has held stuff up, but that in the next few months we should start to see the pay off of these big things coming. Plus was nice to hear that they are going to try and talk a bit more about things more than a month ahead so we can see what is coming up more.
  24. Yeah it'd be hard to say you CAN drop x cause it'd draw critique en-mass if x happened to be a pita to get back and Jagex suddenly made you need it for a new quest. I do like Kimberly's idea though, just a list of quest-only (meaning in the broad sense both items rewarded from quests and items used during quests that you get left with) items divided into 2 groups (those you can not get back and those you can), maybe a brief description beside each of uses post-quest Then for the re-obtainable ones some sort of rating for difficulty to get back (eg Easy - just going to an specific npc or location and grabbing it. Medium - Some minor construction or slightly hard to reach people/places. Hard - Lots to do to get it back) Some examples could be: Easy - Drakan's Medallion, it returns to the tomb in burgh de rott, Used for teleporting to... Medium - Salve Ammy, have to mine a new crystal requires sending a new mushroom via the carts. Combat bonuses when fighting undead monsters. Medium/Hard - Monkey Talisman, have to get through the entire cave again which is rather tedious. If you have no talismans left requires sneaking around etc. to get one from monkey child. Used for exploring ape atoll freely, ninja variety required for ape atoll agility course, gorilla, ninja and zombie varieties required for RFD.
