  1. Actually now that you mention it I do feel the same. I also would love to own some of the new al kharid clothing. Hey I'm sure that some of that stuff might eventually float our way if the community makes a big enough blip on the radar. I don't think Mage was getting at giving us the costumes NPCs wear just because they look good (though it's not a bad idea), she was referring to the fact NPCs that wear items we already have access too get updated but our items don't. Eg Druid Robes no longer match what Druids actually wear.
  2. Tbf BTS videos though mostly for next weeks update have never been exclusively that, you just have to listen to what they say near the end. Hunter one they never said it was coming next week (meaning this week) they just said 'soon,' similar was said for this video. Comapred to, for example, Some Like it Cold that said 'look out for this update next week'
  3. So I thought I'd share the draft prologue for my current fantasy manuscript project. It's loosely based on a manuscript I wrote when I was 12 and as this is still a draft there's probably a few typos and maybe some bits that aren't quite right! But yeah enjoy, any comments you have would be welcome too since it'd help me get a flavour of readers opinion on style and such before I'm too far in to the piece. Oh and fyi, there is some mild swearing, though I'm sure tip.it censor will bleep it all anyways. You have been warned! [hide] Prologue The late autumn sun was high in the sky pouring a clammy heat through empty branches. Sweat began to bead on his neck as he looked through his hemp bag, the deep crimson fire stones stared back at him, exactly what he’d hoped. He dragged a palm across his brow and fumbled with the heavy brass clasp of the bag before moving from the doorway. As he moved down the street unchallenged he felt his heartbeat slow and took deep breaths of cold air, he could see the district gate ahead in the wall of stone and iron; it was still open and no guards in sight. He thanked the gods beneath his breath as he passed under its archway into the cobbled streets of District Hammerstead. He drank in the sounds of the street that drowned his darker thoughts, he could make it now. It would only be a ten minute walk from here to Worten District and then he’d be home. Karla would likely scorn him, but winter was coming he couldn’t let their new-born freeze, besides those richies would hardly miss the stones. He’d best not hurry though, that might look suspicious. He’d stop for a drink or two at the Manticore Inn, perhaps he could even manage to get some cheap elixir for a stone or two. The Inn was a sprawling room dimly lit with too few candles, the council often cut the thunder-cord to try and ‘stem the flow of immorality’ in places like this. The place heaved with laughter, dark skinned serving staff weaved between the crowds of card players, towards the back of the room dealers lurked near curtained rooms their thick cloaks fastened despite the heat and to their right in a cluster of booths near the stairs scantily clad girls and boys danced for clients. His hair clung to his face with sweat; he swept it back taking slowly deliberate breaths as he surveyed the room, taking particular note of the dealers: Ruby, Mannith and Burmarsh were among them, just the faces he’d hoped for, Catrin too but no-one with more sense than gold traded with her. He grasped his bag defensively pushing through the crowds towards Ruby. “I tolds ya last week Malik, I don’t do credit no matter how sick that sprog might be.” “Charming as ever Ruby,” He leaned in close to her, undoing the clasp of his bag. “Happens I had a bit of luck today.” Ruby’s cloak swept over his shoulder, her fingers dipping into the bag her eyebrows sank into a frown. “Luck? You think I not got ears in Queensfair boy? Lady o’ Peace been swarming there past two hours,” Could it be? So soon? He’d best stay here until nightfall, let them calm down. “[bleep] the games Ruby, want ‘em or not?” She smiled innocently grabbing his wrist to lead him behind her curtain. The heavy incense scents washed over him making his stomach wretch, Ruby delicately moved behind the lone table that filled the room lifting a flagon of mead to pour two tankards. “Best get some o’ the good stuff in ya guts.” She smiled handing him a tankard, several hours later he carefully stashed the various salves and elixirs in his bag whilst Ruby carefully counted fire stones into a pouch hidden beneath her cloak. Ruby had no doubt swindled him, he’d had enough mead to make his head spin but at least his nerves had eased. As he pushed past the curtain his heart froze for a second, High Maeytra Dolan sat in a corner booth one hand under the skirt of a slender blond girl on his knee the other caressing the buttocks of a muscled dancing boy. The High Maeytra, lord of all morality, chief envoy to the gods and sworn to celibacy was a regular client here, the only reason the Manticore was not destroyed was the Maeytra’s sexual appetite yet it still made Malik’s throat tighten and clasp his bag close to his chest as he tried to edge further away. He stumbled over a leg and landed heavily, his bag jangling with glass. “Deary, deary be. Muckrake Milark really is all left feet.” Her face was sharp and lacking in beauty, her thick cloak heavy with the stench of wet dog. He scrambled to his feet. “Get lost Catlin. I’m not in the mood,” “Aww has my little toy got a grump on? How’s about Aunt Cat lightens your load?” She walked two fingers along the strap of his bag as he scrabbled away from her across the floor. “Oooo! Defensive aren’t we!” She leaned in close, a smirking on her deftly painted red lips. “Mayhaps little Muckrake was in Queensfair earlier, oh I don’t know, by the Temple of the Beauties?” Ruby’s head appeared over Catlin’s shoulder. “Our ugly ducklin’ never learns aye?” Her hand brushed against the skin of Catlin’s neck and she collapsed to the floor, by the time Milark had caught his breath Ruby had vanished. A strong hand seized him beneath each arm and lifted him from the floor. “I say Mannith it seems our favourite rascal had a little rumbling with Catlin,” Burmarsh smiled brushing dust from his sleeve. “Terrible business that is! Such a sour darling! Now come, come let’s get merry and forget such blights,” they guided him to a table already heaving with jugs of assorted meads. Mannith and Burmarsh may be drunkards and seemingly eccentric, but they always treated Milark well and saw he had enough to eat. He sat quietly between the two sipping his drink slowly as he scanned the room constantly. “Did you hear my boy? Someone actually did it!” “Rob them Beauts blind! A whole cache of fire stones, just like we say someone ought,” “Bur course they robbed em blind, no eyes do they!” “Still what a heist? Who’d a thought! Whole city’s a buzz!” “I heard their talking of shutting the District gates,” Milark saw the blue cloak of a Lady of Peace flit by the windows and downed his drink, waiting for the door the open, another glimpse, something. It felt as if hours passed, but it could not have been more than five minutes before the door opened a podgy faced knight in leather armour, his sword sparkling by his side stepped in. Milark bit his tongue and shifted his bag beneath the table. He was looking at him, he knew, this was it. The knight frowned and beckoned the barmaid; they whispered briefly and she gestured towards the back of the room. The knight nodded gravely and she hurried away up the stairs. The High Maeytra came storming down the stairs, half undressed and trying to tie his underwear in place. The Knight stared at him sternly and led him away. Milark could not settle now, his eye seemed to catch every glint of steel beneath the tables and he constantly saw flickers of blue cloaks outside the windows and he downed several glasses of mead. He nearly fell out of his chair when a fist slammed on to the table, “Where is that bloody mudswilling [bleep]?” “My, my Catlin. What language!” “We thought your ale must’ve disagreed with you, sleeping so sudden.” “Oh quit it you two, you’re not distracting some Richie for a pocket watch here. I know Ruby did it, now where is she?” She looked between Burmarsh and Mannith before fixing Mirlark with her cold violet eyes “Awful quiet Muckrake, bet you know don’t you?” He opened his mouth to speak but just burped loudly and swayed slightly in his seat. “Brilliant, get him more drunk why don’t you!” She leaned in close to his ear again “Don’t think I forgot, I want some of them stones if you want my silence.” She stalked from the Inn, holding Milark’s gaze as she walked, as soon as the door shut he scrambled to his feet. “I-I must be going, Kayla. You know?” His hands were slick with sweat and he fumbled to put his bag on. Mannith frowned at him. “Are you sure you are ok?” “Yes, sure. Fine. Just need to get home.” “Well I’m heading out too, let me walk you. You seem a bit drunk.” Burmarsh made to stand. “N-no. Really. I’ll be okay,” He practically ran from the bar, sending a barmaid flying to the floor in his wake. It was well past dark now and he was swaggering from the mead, his bag tinkling too loudly in the silence. He began to edge down the street like a blind man in the twilight; he paused twisting his head from side to side. No, he’d heard nothing. Just the quiet playing tricks. He let the bag swing freely, his left hand brushing the face of a building to steady his walk. Kayla would be home; she’d smile and hold him. Their little one would gurgle to his touch. That’s all he needed. He passed through the gateway in Worten District, the cobbles became patchy underfoot as muddy puddles engulfed the road. He was nearly there now. A small voice in the back of his mind pushed through his happy dreams. Where was everybody? It had been silent since the Inn, even at this hour these streets should be busy, noisy. He quickened his pace. There it was again, maybe he hadn’t imagined it before, barely louder than the wind: soft giggles of a small girl; just a short burst and it was gone. His legs froze, his hands clasped tight around his bag; it was drunken imaginings that’s all. He had to steady himself. “Ring a Ring O’ Rosies…” The girl’s voices came from all sides singing the haunting nursery rhyme, around him the street lamps and lights in windows throbbed before plunging him into blackness to the continued girl’s childish laughter. His fingers were slick with sweat but his legs sprang back to life, he was running now, weaving through alleys and down cobbled streets; lights continually blackened as he approached and the giggling seemed to grow louder with every step. His heart felt like it wanted to escape his chest and he stumbled losing a shoe to the cobbles. He couldn’t stop, he had to keep going. “A pocket full of posies…” The song was barely above a whisper, yet it was close almost upon him, he could even hear the silk of their dresses rustling. His feet slid from beneath him in a patch of mud, the stone ground winded him but he scrambled for his footing blindly. Wherever he placed his feet the ground seemed to turn to slick mud and he trashed like a fish in a net. Tears stung his eyes as he began to crawl. Not like this! They couldn’t! “A-tishoo! A-tishoo!...” He felt the warmth of breath against his cheek and fell to the floor, his strength suddenly gone. A long-fingered hand clasped across his lips, stifling his cry. His hands seemed to be glued to the mud as shoes clicked against the cobbles skipping towards him. Golden lines slowly twisted in the air before him, the intricate hem of a cloak glowing in the night. As they spread and grew he could see the crimson hooded cloak draped over the frame of a small girl in a frilled dress. Beneath the hood was pure shadow, masking any sign of a face. “We all fall down.” The melody of the song was dropped for the last word as he felt a sharp pain pierce his chest and a hand wrenched his bag away giggling once more. 4. Don't we all? Only the other day I was thinking if I do get lucky with my writing and get rather rich I'd like to try and buy out IVP in Jagex shares so I could force them to fix the microtranscation stuff. Not get rid of it, that ship has sailed, but make them stfu about it and make it fit RS better.
  5. Stat look ups require highscores. F2P do not have highscores anymore. Therefore f2p cannot be looked up.
  6. That fee was kinda effed up already anyway, I mean isn't it free to cross at the daemonheim dock anyway? You know the one they joined up to Lumby swamps right next too a sodding grapple shortcut (that is still there for no apparent reason). And it hardly made a huge amount of sense of Al-Kharid to want to charge border crossing fees but then have a massive free way in at the north end, not charge you to come out of Shanty into Kharid AND not charge you if you fly in via glider. And don;t be foolish! Spin tickets are the epitome of realism! Why just the other day I found a spin ticket whilst buying banana's and then when I checked out they gave me two for completing my quest.
  7. The bit I find interesting is these items will become cosmetic only and Diango can actually return them. So does this mean Jagex could maybe add monkey hats, monkey mace, beachball, the horns, the tattoos, the sharkfists, dragon cremonial, royal guard etc. etc. to Diango? I mean obviously the lucky items need to be loseable otherwise infinite free armour and the consumables like food, monkey barrell etc. but why can't the cosmetic stuff all be reclaimable?
  8. I definitely like how far they are going with these make-overs. Like gnome stronghold wildy and burthorpe and newer areas are amazing and this looks it too. Let's just hope for ONCE they actually get around all the world map! Like Let's drag Yanille, Ardougne, Seers, Rellekka etc kicking and screaming up to this level and then give lumby, fally and varrock a bit of a spit shine to get this level. Rather than having like 3 areas done then moving on to a new project graphically.
  9. Glory Ammy > Al-Khaird or Duel ring > duel arena for getting back are both faster than kharid lodestone. Then duel to cwars, kinship to dg or tokkul-zo to fight caves/fight pits are all speedy banking options. Jewellery hardly puts you in a 'worse place' in fact I'd wager taking run distance and homeport time in account both glory and duel ring are faster ways back. But this example is really entirely beside the point since there is a lodestone there anyway and this thread was about adding lodestones to more places. Again I do not see the argument here? It's an area WITH a lodestone, so what is it got to do with areas having insufficient access to areas and thus needing more lodestones? As for laggy location, lag is subjective and I can get to the square just as fast from ge or lodestone, but still this is of little relevance to the topic at hand. Still entirely off issue as the thread was about adding more lodestones to areas where they are not, all your examples have been locations with lodestones already present. Both loyalty store locations can easily be reached from lodestones, be it Burthorpe or Varrock and both can equally be accessed via jewellery and other means without too much hassle using ring of wealth or plain old tele for Varrock and games necklace for Burthorpe. But still I do not see what you were getting at with any of these points. The topic of the thread was adding lodestones to more locations that are 'hard to access', my line of response was that nowhere is really hard to reach if you unlock the right teleport/transport means. All your examples were pertaining to places with a lodestone and how other options don't necessarily make it faster, though in all 3 cases such methods probably would if you were prepared as teleport animations are quicker. Whether it is worth doing is another matter, but either way none of that is relevant to adding more lodestones.
  10. 'Lack of other good options' = you need to do more quests and such. Fairy Rings alone get you to a good 75% of the world map. Factor in everything else and there is only really 2 areas that is a bit of a teleport/transport dead spot atm Firstly north Tirranwn and half of that is made up by the inaccessible Priffindas area, which as a large city will no doubt have a teleport once it's actually released. Secondly Crandor and well that's a small island with little on it that can be reached fairly quickly via Karamja. Yes a lot of these require runes, jewellery, gp or w/e but that's kind necessary if you could immediately jump to almost anywhere without having to bank or w/e first it'd be a bit too easy.
  11. By the sounds of it it's a computer issue (opposed to the jagex end known issue Stev referenced, where some areas are blown out with bloom and being fixed bit by bit), along the lines of an older/less powerful graphics card that can't deal with doing bloom properly so it's fudging up the opacity. So essentially the advice would be play around with your actual graphics card settings on the problem computer see if you can find anything that helps, if not just turn bloom off on that computer.
  12. The vaguely Al-kharid-ish style of that building + the mysterious question marked figure + the hunter d&d bts video with final blurb mentioned next week being about kharid rework and a quest they kept quiet. Makes me hopeful this may be some sort of quest that maybe reveals a long awaited npc (eg the king guy of al-kharid, especially as the silhouette styling and shape does kinda look similar to what they used for the blanked out portrait in the old manual in the places > kharid > personalites segment) and fills in lore about the history of rs bank and how it works. I also vaguely recall a poll or letter or something ages ago that had some idea about the vault where the banks actually are, which again would fit with quest concept and this title like we get to actually go into the vaults where everything is magically stored, plus it'd be great way to troll us a bit with all rares and stuff stacked on shelves that we can't take. But this is of course wildly speculative.
  13. I don't think age plays a huge factor in whether or not you can relate to a character. Yes when you are pre-adult it has an effect because you can't appreciate certain complexities of life, but once you reach adulthood it's more about personalities than their age because through social interaction and world awareness you can relate to older people and understand issues they face. If I picked up a book with a protagonist my exact age in similar situation to my life I certainly could relate faster, but if it's well written I can relate just as easily to other characters based on their background, personality an how I empathise with them. I mean I relate to Ayra in Song of Ice and Fire a lot and she's an 8 year old girl who sword fights and I can relate to Catelyn as well and she's like 40(?) odd lady who fell for 1 guy, got betrothed to another then married his brother etc. etc. As I said I don't see the point in NA because the stuff that falls into it to me is just kinda normal books that aren't YA or Kids but equally aren't explicitly Adult only. They are just the bulk of the novelistic world.
  14. Part 1 is. 2013/14 for Part 2 and 2014/15 for Part 3 (if memory serves) I'm kinda concerned what they are doing with it cause firstly they managed to make 3 movies outta it and secondly they have apprently written in cameos from a lot of the Lotr characters not in the book and borrowed episodes/events from the rest of the Middleearth novels as well on the premise that the rest of the novels aren't movie worthy on their own but some bits and bobs of them are rather good.
  15. I must admit I don't think Serpent Eye was bashing. Rather, it seems he was expressing a degree of incredulity over what seems to me a rather bizarre and arbitrary division. Perhaps it's because I've never read young adult or 'new adult' fiction, but I cannot see how any of these age-based divisions constitute a 'genre'. To use film as an example of what I mean, if we were to have to give the genre of a film, we would answer based on thematic indicators, which would lead us to answers such as 'comedy' or 'action', rather than the age-rating given to it by some central board. Moving on from this slight pedantry, I can't see what purpose any of these age-based divisions serve. Is there that much of a difference between a 21 and a 26 year old that the former will not be able to pick up a book considered adult? As I said, the divisions seem rather arbitrary. I don't see the need for this category anyway, it seems pointless. To me you have Children's books - aimed at kids YA books - usually dealing with teenage/early 20s characters and playing up all the coming of age strife. For the older teens through to 20ish Adult books - For graphically sexual content etc not suitable for anyone else and General books - those that lack an age specific classification because they don;t have any adult only content yet they aren't aimed especially at the youths. eg Jurassic Park or Dracula or most other books. Nothing in them explicitly adult in nature, but equally not aimed towards children or young adults. This "New Adult" thing just seems to be pointless putting a genre-style age demographic on a book that doesn't really need it cause it's just a book. Plus it seems to entertain the notion that readers absolutely need characters of their own age range to be able to relate too them, which to me is utter nonsense. As is the idea that the early 20s are some how under represented on literature, I'd say the vast majority of books focus on characters in the 20 - 30 range. I mean from a writer's stand point the 20-30 year olds are kinda the ideal base character; old enough to not need to worry about what they can't do due to age but equally young enough to not need to worry about what they can't do due to aging. Plus in that younger bracket it's easier to have unattached characters that don;t have major job/family commitments that prove problematic in reasoning away to let them go off on some adventure. Pretty much all my characters start off in my head around that age range then get moved up or down based on any specific role they play eg if I need a naive school kid or a young sibling/orphan to throw a spanner in the works or if I need a parent or retired general or w/e
  16. Just finished Storm of Swords O.M.F.G. Now to dive right into book 4 which is Feast for Crows I do believe.
  17. The guide says 'Clockwork suit (or materials)' If you have clockwork suit you do not need a clockwork. The rest of the items listed (8 silk, 4 planks, needle, thread) are used in the quest alongside the clockwork suit and are not inclusive of making it. It is just coincidental they include the silk and plank needed for making the clockwork suit.
  18. There is a difference between your basic montage and his finely crafted montages. His tell a story, be it of a specific player or a story/review of what a team/league has been through. Plus he has clearly put a lot of careful editing in with effects and zooms and splicing things together plus carefully chosen music which is all credited. Also where he gets the clips from makes a difference, judging by the fact he is in russia I am assuming they come from russian TV/web sources who are ok with their clips being used.
  19. Blake pretty much covered it. Don't matter what urns you do in terms of rarity only difference is doing first rooms = more urns per hour for less xp per hour.
  20. 270 days 211.9m total experience, works out to an average of 1.9 hours a day for 9 years. Only 6 99s so far, though once I get out of my rs-cba slump of past few weeks as my sig shows I intend to blast out another 7 of em and then beyond that I got magic and hunter easily within range of 99 and subject to funding ought to have charms for 99 summon banked.
  21. I don't think a lot of hackees quit entirely, especially as most do not lose EVERYTHING. Certainly what you are wearing can be worth a good portion of your bank but unless you have no bank-pin you have at least 3 days (if not 7) in which you cash pile and bank is entirely safe. Of course they could abuse you're stats and any left-over runecoins and spins but at the same time I'd question why anyone would leave a mass of runecoins or spins unused? Surely anyone who buys them would buy them for a purpose and then have few to none left. And 'abusing' your stats is hardly a game breaker for most players seeing as un-wanted xp only really exists for pures.
  22. I think the app idea in particular (seeing as the usb was deemed non-financially viable) would be a wise move as more security never hurt and would certainly ease pressure on customer services. Only bit I disagree with is that account hacking/theft is often not your fault, simply because it really is. Keyloggers - avoidable with commonsense and good AV Phishing scams - avoidable with commonsense Password gained by other means - avoidable if you do not use same pass on other sites or share it with 'friends' etc. Recovery scam - certainly a flaw in Jagex recovery here, but even so if you're email is insecure enough to be hacked by any of above means for this to work it's still kinda your fault. Having said that however these still cause issues because people (as a general collective) are utter [wagon]es with no commonsense and thus fall prey to all these, so would definitely be a good move as it would reduce hacking to: a) [wagon] who did not activate 2 step verification (much like the current class who lose their entire bank to a hacking as they never bothered with a bank pin) b) [wagon] who gave their pass to a friend AND let them get the app/device to complete step 2. Both of which in my humble opinion probably deserve to be hacked just to learn the lesson. Something similar already does exist for certain, the most prevalent example is the gmail 2 step verification which can text you a code when you try to log on and/or can be synchronised with a smartphone app that generates 1 code every 30 seconds or so that serves the same purpose.
  23. Just to reiterate what Paul has been saying. Dave will tell you how many spices are correct when he tastes it. So working through each colour in turn you can add 1 dose, then 2 doses and get Dave to taste to see if that 1 spice is correct. You don't have to test 3 doses seeing as it has to be correct if 1 and 2 are wrong. Do this for each colour in turn and then you know the correct amounts for all 4 spices to add to the stew to complete the chunk. So all you have left to do now is try 1 and 2 dose orange and 1 and 2 dose brown to find their correct values, then you can make the final stew.
  24. They already said the dom tower glove would get passive abilities back in a few weeks. There's barely any passive abilities that we have actually lost. Yes polypore went and the 3 god spells, though the 3 god spells have been replaced by 1 new spell unlocked in the same way, but they were less passive abilities more unique spells. But what other passive abilities are gone? Attractor, Accumulator and Alerter still do their thing. Void still has its boosts. Slayer helm still works. Barrows set effects are still there.
  25. The problem with that is that if every weapon has different stats then by design one is better than the other. They wanted to move away from that and instead replace it with certain weapons being more suitable for different situations due to monster weakness. Yeah all weapons on a given tier being on par in DPS (with slow weapons having higher hits to compensate) was half the point of the update to help create diversity opposed to weapon x for y. It's a case of this monster is weak to slash. x, y and z are level 80 slash weapons; take your pick they are all gonna give the same kill rates.
