  1. He hates it because it apparently makes the game similar to every other mmo on the market and because it ruins pures. These aren't good reasons for hating it. You know why so many mmo on the market as similar? Because there's a formula to making a successful mmo. No one complains about how virtually every vehicle on the road has 4 wheels and most have 4 doors. Frankly, most of the combat in rs isn't any more exciting then turn based combat games. Combat could use an update. Totally off-topic but I couldn't resist: I'm sure most people would complain if you sold them a 4 door car, seeing as how they measure doors on cars you generally get 3 door or 5 door. Edit @below to avoid too much off-topic spam: In car talk the boot/trunk is usually refereed to as a door, especially in the hatchbacks (which are kinda the main car type these days since they are the cheaper ones) So you either get driver door, passenger door, boot for 3 doors or you get driver door, passenger door 2 back doors and boot for a 5 door.
  2. Tbf I think a lot of what people are labelling as 'wrong' or 'not working' is just people being ignorant of changes and/or relying to much on old methods (and jumping to old method not working/being as effective = wrong opposed to dealing with the changes and working out new methods). For example, Unknown Warrior's List: - Polypore staff not working, forcing me to change it. - Polypore staff IS working they intentional removed it's spell. This does not show the beta is unready, it just shows you are not fully informed on some changes and have not adapted to them. - PITIFUL LP boosts on Void killing me two times. - Void has always been an armour that sacrifices defence for offence, it just happens in EoC defence (and thus lp boosts) are far more important which has narrowed void's useful applications. Again this isn't something being un-ready it's just a change EoC has brought you need to adapt too. - Switching combat styles is a huge nightmare (Akrisae; almost died twice in FULL NEX gear) - This does have some issues, but they intentionally hindered style swapping and it's not all that hard if you set -up 3 bars 1 for each style with the armours bound in first few slots etc. - The ability spamming and its visual effects makes my processor cry - so turn down graphics or get a better computer, not really jagex's problem. - The head bopping thing for Void melee helm not yet fixed - The protection prayer nerf is a nightmare. - Yes it's a nightmare IF you try to rely on old fashioned tactics and yes it takes getting used to, but there's nothing wrong with it. It's just another change EoC has brought that we need to adapt to. - The ability book is a pain to navigate through. - Very true but Jmods have already said they are looking into that one, so hopefully it won;t be by launch Certainly a lot of monsters are fudged atm, but thats part of why they are doing these targeted events to help highlight them, like last weekend highlighted that portals in Pc were going down stupidly fast (even for crowded pc) this weekend will highlight where barrows brothers are fudged
  3. In new some like it cold guide: "With the sound monitor in hand, you can see how much noise each group is making by a bar above their heads. Try to get each bar to fill up to blue simultaneously. This is best done by running in a circle and clicking on Bouncer, Teddy, then Ping and Pong to encourage them, then repeating. Ping and Pong must be clicked on separately. As the bars remain at full or close to full you will get a series of increasingly annoyed bits of dialogue from the Walrus, until he finally emerges from his hut." Ping and Pong do NOT have to be clicked separately, they share 1 bar. Clicking one will increase the bars over both ping and pong. I only ever clicked one of em and it worked fine. "Use the red balloon on the coil of wire to make an insulated wire. Use the insulated wire on the wirebox." Not sure if its 100% necessary, but may be worth noting using the wire on the balloon does not work, it has to be balloon on wire. "Do not panic if the seals hit you - they will not proceed to systematically eliminate you as Astoria did." Astoria does not systematically eliminate you at all. In my entire game she hit 3 ships once and 1 ship twice and at no point systematically attacked a ship. Also for the final game I think you 'spoilers' on the seal ship locations are pointless. I died several times and the ships were not in the same locations each time I restarted annd certainly were not in the palce you suggest, one of my ships in the final match started on A1, in another match I had one running A5-A8 etc.
  4. I have now put the final nail in the coffin of A Clash of Kings and shall be jumping into A Storm of Swords later tonight. So glad to be done with that one tbh, the kindle edition (or uk atleast) is bugggggged it says it only has 41 pages so page 41 through to 800-900 odd (dunno how long it truely is) it says all chapters start on page 41 and your always on page 41 irritated me as I'm the kind to glance ahead by chapter to see how many page it is to judge if I can read it now or need a break first.
  5. The comment you made initially that I responded to read as very sour/scornful bordering on the typical whiner territory. The sub-text of what you posted kinda read as 'oh look Jagex are useless and lying as ever extending the beta.' Or it did to me at least, but I guess it's just come across wrong due as things often can online.
  6. I hardly see why there is a need to be so scornful of the beta being extended, they said from before it was even launched September at the earliest but they would take as long as they needed to get it right. I certainly never expected it to be done and lunched before late October early November and would not be surprised at all if it continued on into next year.
  7. Lol, they make you play a single game of whatever they are focus testing that weekend... it's not like you have to spend 5 hours grinding that game to get the outfit. Takes 2-20 minutes. (Depends on the game :)) AND while you have access you can do whatever the heck you want in-game aside from a few things that are still shut off. You ARE completely free to test what you like as you like on the weekends. I don't think it's that at all. They said EoC would be proper launched September at the earliest. They started the Beta start of July. They always planned 4 beta outfit events. They also planned all membs access and beta events every weekend (which there are at least 8 of assuming early sept launch) There was always going to be more events than the 4 unlocks, this says nothing of the beta being extended.
  8. Not surprised since intel are general on-board graphics chips opposed to a full-blown graphics card like Nvida or AMD.
  9. Whilst I don't think any are hugely hard, especially with guides to follow my top ten, in no particular order would be (and most of these are not 'hard' as such just luck-based factors/annoyance factors that can make them tiring to complete) 1) MEP2 - long-ass puzzle to solve whilst under attack with those stupid handholds you nearly always fail? Deffo gotta be up there. 2) EW3 - the puzzle again is a mind melting factor for most. 3) Monkey Madness - primarily for that fricking cave-in dungeon you have to get through like 8 billion times plus the overly accurate poison spiders. 4) One Small Favour - the sheer length 5) Nomads Requim - Gotta be one of the hardest bosses to date still and even with the light gear there is a bit of luck involved to down him, 6) RFD - the hell rat catching bit is a pita plus the 'no prayer' battles at end really do throw ya a bit 7) Love Story - Just because trying to do the final fight without d spear is bordering on suicidal 8) Sheep Herder - Just because it is annoying as hell that you push them bit by bit then as soon as your near the fence they zoom off further away than they started for no apparent reason. 9) Branches of Darkmeyer - One of the more tricky quest boss battles. 10) Some Like it Cold - Probably a bit of a controversial choice but how relatively hidden some of the items are in the POW camp (like the wood), plus the poorly explained 'noise' mechanic and the fact if you have even a little lag it can be a nightmare keeping all 3 camps going long enough for Walrus face to get mad. Then to crown it off the fact that in the last battle there is literally no way to stop your health dropping and it relies on pure luck to find the enemy ships fast enough to survive makes it a bit of a pita.
  10. This. The guide states: 'This means that you cannot rebuild the statue for 1 week' Rebuilding the statue =/= Obtaining rocks It also states 'You will be able to collect more strange rocks for a skill after obtaining rocks for all other non-combat skills.' Which aptly covers the fact after collecting and adding all rocks you can then obtain more.
  11. I think people are far too generous calling it an 'AI' the enemies have in battleships, the way it plays to me seems like a pure a simple RNG throwing out utterly random choices of available squares with no reasoning behind it at all.
  12. The troulbe with rs is: It cannot do anti-aliasing AND bloom atm. Regardless of what the settings say if you have bloom on it will be 0 anti-aliasing. As methionted this can be rectified by enforcing anti-alising from your graphics card settings.
  13. From Mod Nancy on RSOF: [qfc]15-16-145-63930939[/qfc] First few replies. So it's just a extra stealthy peng no ping n pong or sheldon. rsof rumour's seem to confirm you cannot get a hint for it and it might need ring of visiblity, no jmod confirms/denials though. I wouldn't be surprised if this new peng isn't properly functioning yet and won;t until peng reset; I seem to recall polar bear did not show up until they do a manual reset of pengs (cause the update was on weds or thurs if memory serves) resulting in a double peng week.
  14. Yes because the top 'health' bar continually goes down regardless of repair state but having people do repairs does 3 things: 1) Repairs that specific item 2) Slows the overall health bar drop 3) Occasionally (seemingly when 'repairing' full bars) bumps main health back up a bit. Point 1 is the least important since unless you seriously screw up no single item should get to low or break before health kills you anyway. Point 2 and 3 is why you want to keep them going though, they slow it down and occasionally make it back up a bit which buys you more time to find the enemies.
  15. You should do it more frequently. For first 5 moves you should assign all 4 between each go (so move, assign, move assign etc.) Then after that ping & pong need 1/2 turns of rest before you send em again Larry needs 2/3 The old guy needs 3/4 The more time they repair they better health lasts, plus it seems to be when they repair beyond max that you get health bar back.
  16. [hide] Your overall health always goes down, keeping things repaired slows it and occasionally if you get them all near max it will go back up a little bit. You get fully healed when you sink an enemy. Essentially every turn or 2 (subject to peoples energy bars) assign 1-2 people then get back for your turn and then hope you have a bit of luck in finding the ships. They have two 4 long ships and 1 3 long (Or atleast my game ended after hitting 3 spots on my last one) I found the best tactic was to hit A1 first, then miss 3 spaces and go again (so E2) and work systematically like that moving 1 space across on each new row (so B2 f2 etc.) This way you will 100% definitely hit on the 4 long ships as both sideways and vertical you only have 3 spaces between any 2 strikes. And you have a fair chance of hitting the smaller one as well.[/hide]
  17. [hide]From the quest end I'd imagine the new peng is either gonna be ping and pong or sheldon. Especially as Larry is hiding Sheldon As for the sub they say they will take care of it aka it's gone[/hide]
  18. Having trouble on the sub bit. No matter how much I repair etc. my overall health seems to continually drop and only refill when I full sink an enemy ergo every run so far luck of finding enemies has dictated how far I've gotten and not beat it yet.
  19. Certainly adds a new aspect to skilling where when un-armoured a mis-click to attack a low-ish NPC can still result in being koed. Could prove a big pita for LRC as it makes using varrock plate/gold mining suit rather risky even on crowded worlds
  20. The trouble is at higher stats there's SOOOOOOO much choice it's overwhelming to begin processing, especially when we have to unlearn everything we know already. That's why Jagex are working on a tutorial for it. I must say I felt the same at first but now I've started getting my head round it it does make sense.
  21. Gano is not worth it at all really, the repair costs are far too high so it entirely annihilates profit margins on everything. For just normal slayer stuff (strykes, ganos and metals) ahrims is more than enough.
  22. Step 1 is scan you computer for keyloggers with a good Av/spyware scanner (Eg Microsoft security essentials, Avast! etc.) 99.9% chance you got a keylogger from the scam site so changing password etc.without first scanning is basically the same thing as handing them all your account details.
  23. I've seen the sun bathe emote and waterballoons without getting them, got the shark fists the 1 time I saw them and had 3 lots of rock candy.
  24. Could be more than 1 penguin point, Osbourne said 'a new penguin to hunt down' alongside Nancy's earlier comments about it being fiendishly hard I'd think it's gotta be a 2 pointer if not more.
  25. A bit more description would be helpful seeing as we have 3 entirely independent areas for the games and 'lower places' is hardly a clear description. Do you mean in the rocks at the undersides of the island? Somewhere in the sky boxes? Down the bottom of the hill in cheeserolling?
