  1. How would this work? Same way google does it. First step is to synchronise the app and your account. Then both the jagex servers and your app generate identical key codes valid for about 30 seconds at a time and keep doing this indefinitely. When you log-in it'll ask for the key code. Short of being an insanely lucky sob to guess the right code out of the possible millions or hacking jagex servers, grabbing the data and decoding it all before the code expires there is no way to get in unless you have the phone app to show you the current code.
  2. It's on the topic of pros & cons of different possibly delivery methods for the JAG assuming it is 2 step verification. I don't see how we could be more on-topic.
  3. Wow they charge you to receive messages and I thought UK were the master of screwing people over with prices. o.O
  4. In terms of cellphone debate thing the most obvious setup will be sms and smart phone app (for iOS, Android and maybe Blackberry if they are feeling nice). Smart phone app for those of us technologically in the 21st century for very instant access. Sms for those with tech but still more 20th century minded so it's fast but slight delay. If they are nice you might get some other option, though tbh I doubt it's likely (at least not at launch) mobile phone ownership in this day and age is kinda taken as a given if you are under around 35 (thus aren't in the amg too old for tech crowd) and over about 12-15 (when most kids seem to be given phones to allow them to be independent but contactable). I know there's certainly argument that they should make it accessible and not force people to get phones, but in all reality not having a phone is your own choice and in this day and age kinda a dumb one when everyone (like employers) likes immediacy of contact and it acts as an amazing tool for if plans go wrong last minute or trying to meet someone in a crowded area or in an emergency; certainly smart phones are not for everyone but a basic pay & go calls and texts/sms jobby isn't exactly a huge commitment.
  5. Would make sense for it to come early in the month to let us get secure before their new bot detector goes live (assuming that it will go live this month else Botany Bay will be rather quiet) on the basis that with botting more effectively locked down the account sellers/gold sellers are likely to turn to hijacking for their stock.
  6. Yep. Jagex posted about it as well. I suspect those of us who vaguely recalled a mention about end of summer were right then, the issue being they never made that deadline clear and certainly never defined when this deadline was exactly.
  7. It's slated for a November release currently (Source). Mod Pi put a good spin on it but honestly, we knew from day 1 with what they released that September was far too unrealistic. It was unfair that they had to put a cramped deadline on them, because it makes them look bad for delaying it. And they honestly didn't deserve that. So good job, whoever it was who made that call. You're the reason why devs hate upper management! They never had a 'cramped deadline' In the initial videos/info what was said 'September at the earliest, but we won't hesitate to delay if it needs it.' They never said it would be September, just gave Sept as the earliest which would obviously be based on 1 month(ish) of beta testing with 0 major issues thrown up. Either way good to see update estimates as things progress.
  8. Yeah its a draft for a reason! lol I tend to totally fudge up commas in the initial writing cause I just get lost in the flow of the images especially when using a focalised narration such as this. But that is why you have to edit what ya write in drafts to weed these things out.
  9. Depends on what measure you take, using the standard 3 month per season calendaring Northern Hemisphere summer ended as soon as it turned to 1st Sept. edit: Ninja'd with more detail too.
  10. I vaguely recall one line enar the bottom of a news post saying "end of summer", but even if that is true it wasn't very foregrounded given how many people fail at news reading and would've left long before that last little line.
  11. Well seeing as bots can't talk, maybe Jagex don't actually send the real bot to the island, insta-ban them and then put an instanced clone onto the island for 'x' amount of minutes or as long as 'judgement' take aka 'banning' the instanced npc. Or, most probably, the account will stay trapped on the island whether logged in or not with the conclusion of their trial (presumably after a day or so) they'd be banned. Or perhaps they won't be banned as such, but will be permanently trapped on the island if they log in.
  12. Most BTS this year have been posted on the 1st regardless of what day it has been, had several on weekends.
  13. It's hardly racist considering it has NOTHING to do with race. Anyways I like the sound of this month. Botany Bay may be slightly 'dead content' BUUUUT the announcements of trials and getting players involved gives a much more clear show that Jagex is punishing people. It's harder to claim 'jagex does nothing' when you can go and see it happening in-game. b GWD sounds nice, the new bow and magic stuff sounds intriguing. Would seem they are indeed filling out the Bandos/Aramdyl tier with something other than Ganodermic. Also good to hear the Bandos shield, helm, gloves etc. are going to start leaking in to game pre-EoC; since the 'average' player seems to be around Bandos or Nex level these days they are certainly the new armour pieces we need the most in the market ready for EoC. Plus bolstering the Lore with journals is nice. (Inb4 comp cape req all gwd journals) Two Quests sounds good, though slightly concerned one kinda sounds like they just re-made prince ali rescue; but still if it's better and we can replay I like. Also hidden high lvl rewards on par with one piercing note? Yes please! Also sounds good that they are creating a lead into the overall desert lore with these quests. Challenging system sounds a bit meh, could be fun and handy but seeing as I have plans don;t see me using it much. Also kinda concerned about what they are doing tab wise seeing as they mentioned altering tasks AND quest tabs to make this new 'notice board'
  14. Totally agree, given the current graphical level they are producing they really need to give most monsters and npcs a once over and the vast majority of the map too. I mean off the top of my head they ought to do this kind of makeover for: Shanty Desert - like the entire thing all the settlements etc. Make them inkeeping with the rocky stylings of the abbey and forthcoming kharid, though obviously more ancient eygpt style building. Lumbridge and Draynor - One of the more up-to-date areas but still behind now Varrock - Same as above Falador - Same again Sarim & Rimmington - Bit dated now Musa Point & Brimhaven - not been touched for years Southern Karamja (Tai Bwo, Shilo, shipyard etc.) - again very dated. Yanille and Guntannoth - Don't think this has ever had a proper makeover, include MA, jungle hunter, cwars, port khazrad and fight arena and observatory Ardougne - both east and west Seers & Cathurby & Camelot - again looking dated Trollheim & other northern reaches Fremminik lands - rellekka and all the islands Tirrawan - seriously thoose trees are kinda messed up next to the newer stuff Crandor, Soulwars Isle, Ape atoll, brain death etc. - basically all the islands. Brimhaven dung Taverly dung Wilderness dungeons Waterfall dungeon Smoke dungeon & well Shadow dungeon Swamp cave Dorgeshkann Slayer cave Waterbirth Myreque tunnel Keldagrim I could go on...
  15. Yeah would make sense each faction fashioned the blade into a weapon suited to their troops, and can easily fit in lorically in the shards and blades become much plainer and/or are replaced with some sort of gem/embellishment. Eg the 'godsword' they were fighting over was actually an enchantment within a gem that would modify a weapon its applied too. Hence they have 4 very different swords which it fits. Or just their hilts have magic in them to form the blade into a suitable form.
  16. The level limits do seem some what redudant; I mean if you REALLLLLY wanted to you could use 100xp lamps on low skill to get all 350k xp on it.
  17. There are three possible scenarios: 1. You were just a member for August: 350k xp at the end of August 2. You were just a member for September: 350k xp at the end of September 3. You were a member for both August and September: 350k at the end of August and 700k at the end of September for a total of 1050k xp No other possible scenario. LIES 4. You were never a member: You get 0 xp.
  18. You need to redo Death Plateau, since the revamp of that and 2 other quests in the area many things get locked if you don't redo the new 5 minute quests, for example you can't even get from Burthorpe to Troll area on foot without redoing death plateau
  19. I wonder if the update graphics here are being rolled out more uniformly eg orges, jorges, morges, zorges, skorges, imps, goblins, goraks etc. that all appear elsewhere. I have some hope it might seeing as glimpses fo the orge concept art did have the 'jorge etc.' written on it. As for new drops I suspect it will just be the stuff we know of from eoc so rest of bandos and armadyl armours, the nex gloves and boots and maybe a splattering of the lower level gears seen in eoc that need way into game. Wouldn't be surprised if they put it out pre-EoC would make sense to let the new armour items etc come into game for a few months pre-launch (even in a stat free useless form) just to allow the market sometime to get filled out and stabilised with these items rather than dumping us straight into new combat where we kinda need these items but 0 exist in-game for a while.
  20. You get 700k for sept IF you've done aug and sept. This 350k for sept is if you JUST do sept.
  21. Yeah basically all 6 trekkers share the same 28 inventory spaces and once food is in that inventory it cannot be lost or removed in any way other than trekkers eating it during treks. So it does persist between treks, if you give them 28 then head down to Burgh and they ate 2 items enroute there will only be 2 spaces left the next time you try to give them food be that immediately or years later.
  22. I don't think most are because unless you are an utter horder you can stockpile for like every skill and content in-game you can easily have hundreds of free bank space. Plus how does having more junk *really* make you better than a user without it? A bank space doesn't give you better stats or gear. It won't make you gain xp faster. It won't make you earn gp faster. It won't make you better at pvp or pvm. It may make things easier for you personally in terms of hoarding, but it doesn't give you any sort of edge over other people really.
  23. They also said real life wealth would never affect your gameplay. Look how that turned out. I know, but still with this reassurance we can kinda have hope that the current ceo etc won't do it for a good few years at least.
  24. It's not worth doing, I mean saving for a single wish is several hours of play time. Compared to the fact you can do a herb run in around 5 minutes, so assuming you log out between herb runs you can do like 20-30 or more herb runs in that time plus even if you do stay logged on there are far better ways to use the time seeing as livid farm isn't brilliant xp in any skills.
  25. The html5 engine sounds intriguign given how many things they have said they can/have done techwise on their in-house engine but couldn't roll out yet (presumably in part due to html5 support being patchy even among the big browsers til fairly recently) things like distance loading opposed to loading breaks, breaking away from grid based building/movement etc. Other platforms sounds intriguing, but doubt it'll be much good. Can't imagine rs being all that playable on a device without a mouse (and a keyboard once EoC goes live) Looking forward to seeing how this pans out and nice to see some reassurance that they do not intend to sell true in-game advantages etc, if they keep to that and are using this new revenue to make rs better I think I can tolerate the sof/soloman spam every week.
