  1. That claim is rather interesting. I was actually under the impression that restricted trade saved RuneScape. In one of their videos last year, I quite clearly recall them stating that the game was in "terminal decline" in 06-07. To the best of my knowledge the issue was bots paying for membership via credit card fraud, and then Jagex having to return the money, giving Jagex quite a hit and ultimately leaving them with no choice but to place restricted free trade on the game. But if you have anything that indicates that was not the case, I would be interested to read it. Nope, that is incorrect. This is one of the summary bullet points for the MTX Livestream: RuneScape was in terminal decline from 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and started to grow again in 2011. This year RuneScape has been growing consistently. From 2007 onwards. Restricted trade was introduced in 2007. The loss of the wilderness and Free Trade was the update that turned growth into decline - Runescape was still growing in 2006 to mid 2007.
  2. The NDA lasted for less than 2 hours before Jagex realized how futile attempting to enforce such a thing is when so many people have beta access. As for the 2nd article, RS3 could go well and sustain RS for the forseeable future. However I have to disagree about RWT being necessary for Runescape's survival. Yes Jagex posted a £9.5M loss in 2011, but bear in mind that they also very significantly expanded their infrastructure in that year, moving into new offices and hiring over a hundred new staff. That loss included many one time expenses. It is quite clear when Runescape started declining. Before the removal of Free Trade and the Wilderness, Runescape was a growing game - the number of members and the concurrent player count was increasing. The introduction of restricted trade and the removal of the wilderness wiped out a large number of players instantly, and more importantly, reversed the trend of growth into one of decay. Nothing Jagex has done since then has been able to turn the trend around again and give us a growing game population. No matter how much RWT Jagex introduces into the game, without enough players to spend their money even an MTX model can't be successful. People tend to go "SoF is killing RS" or "Dicers are killing RS" or "EoC killed RS" but the truth is that restricted trade killed Runescape. A growing player population is probably the biggest sign of long term prosperity for an MMO, and the loss of that was not worth any amount of anti rule breaking that restricted trade brought in.
  3. I've only seen warband fc beat warband pk when they arrived late and most of warband pk had already left. Warband fc was at a camp, pk came and killed them, most of pk looted and left, then warband fc came back and killed the remnants. Basically use both fc's and go with the majority. If warband fc has an organised anti pk (rarely) go with them. Otherwise stick with warband pk.
  4. I see a major flaw in this: It was already possible to attain those exp rates before the charming imp was released, simply by choosing not to pick up any drops. Yes, but you would be sacrificing a large chunk of summoning xp by doing so. EoC making combat skills nearly as fast as buyables is a different topic altogether. If you weren't picking crims up at WFS before this update, you were doing it wrong. No one who would have camped WFS (killing them off task) would have not picked the charms up. I mean literally no one. Which is why it took the charm collector for people to realize how good the xp rates here are. The loss of summoning xp by not picking crims up @ WFS is not worth the gain in xp/hr. However now that people don't need to worry about that, there is a problem. I expect Jagex will leave it until several players have gained hundreds of millions of xp before they fix it (if ever).
  5. The problem is that without that time spent picking charms up, killing WFS for example is now over 450k att/str/def xp/hr, as well as being very good for charms. Combined with daggs for mage/defence, they've turned combat skills into a joke. WFS could really use a defence buff making it much harder to melee them and forcing the player to use their weakness (ranged). I agree picking charms up was a pain in the ass, but they appear to have over looked the effect this has had on xp rates, which definitely needs addressing. Someone should point out to them that killing WFS (including the HP xp and charms) is actually more productive than buying spins for melee xp! Should get them nerfed pretty quickly :)
  6. Best thing to do is hop as soon as the next world is called, as when everyone else hops you have a good chance of rejoining the fc.
  7. All supermarkets in the UK have online sites where they advertise jobs. Handing CVs in at the stores is a complete waste of time, at least where I live.
  8. Overall thoughts: Would like more draw distance Would like the fading out at the edges of what you can see to be smoothed a little Our characters now look bad, definitely need some TLC. Items now look completely stupid in the bank (surrounded by a thick black outline for some reason). Revert. Assuming that random crashes, lag and slowed down camera rotation are just because it's a beta and Jagex will fix. Also chrome is annoying and I want to use it on Firefox. No idea if this is already planned for the future or...
  9. Does he not consider the extra 1 hour spent getting 200m prayer worth the higher rank? He wasted far more time than that doing that soul wars thing.
  10. Buying about 50% more draw distance than we get @ max. Also: attempting to customise max/comp cape = game crash, as does staying on the bank interface for more than a few seconds for me. Just a little warning for anyone else.
  11. Top of dominion tower is just vague colours, thought that would have been pretty spectacular.
  12. Managed 5/6 camps successfully in last two days using Warband pk.
  13. Can tell if it's a free world @ ganos from the top now :P
  14. You can tell someone is on the bottom floor cause bones + soulsplit
  15. Have some pics. Will get more when they fix the constant log outs + error messages.
  16. Well seeing as you never had to agree to or sign anything to play the beta, it's a good job they removed it.
  17. Even if you hate QBD, it's still worth spending 5 minutes doing something you hate in exchange for an item that will make the next many hours of slayer more enjoyable. (higher hits, faster kills, quicker tasks so more variation = more enjoyable) I'd personally recommend you dungeoneer and get a set of tier 80 weapons before you start slaying. Assuming you plan on raising dg at some point anyway, you might as well do some dg first then slay. Dg is a long (ish) skill and it might be nice to break it up a bit by dg'ing for your chaotics first, then slaying, then going back to it. In terms of gear, barrows provides more than enough defence for every task. If you have 70m, getting GWD gear is a waste of your resources. One major piece of advice: the cannon will be getting a significant buff within the next few weeks which will make slaying with a cannon much more useful again, so I'd grab 50k or so cannonballs now whilst they're dirt cheap if I were you. Also, the chaotic staff is the most important chaotic to get, due to barraging many tasks being much faster, in excess of 200k slay/hr in several cases.
  18. Sent out a 13 plate voyage, really need it to succeed due to making two helms by accident -.-
