Tip.It Times Tip.It Times - 7th April 2013

Well it is pay to win. And people have threads full of content broken by the EoC that still isn't fixed 6 months+ later. Not sure about the pissing contest bit, but you can't argue that EoC isn't a broken, pay2win game and expect people to keep a straight face. Hell they even used the phrase "Spin to win" in the most recent RWTscape update. -

I disagree with the quests thing. I really liked RS quests, they are IMO one of the game's strongest points. Detailed, not dumbed down, requiring you to go all over the world, with a nice helping of quirky humour. However, the last two grandmaster quests have me worried; both the Brink of Extinction and The World Wakes involve the player running through a series of rooms which you never have to leave. Where's the sense of grand adventure that epics like WGS and BoD gave? (and maybe One Small Favour? No? :P ) Also, the combat in quests has been severely scaled down. Nomad was brilliant in that regard. Yes the EoC made Nomad laughably easy (as a byproduct of completely eradicating high level combat content), but I want to see quest bosses that are a challenge. This is admittedly a pointless request as I cannot see how any EoC combat content can be made even vaguely difficult without applying arbitrarily large amounts of HP/damage. The bosses in TWW were just bleurgh. Those new mechanics they had in comparison to the current GWD bosses? I only saw Kril's - Kree and Graardor died before they used anything new. So, I'd say RS2 wins out on quests. -
What we really need are instanced warbands. /inside joke. Seriously though, isn't all this backstabbing and pking kind of the point? High risk, high reward gameplay. Although you don't lose anything you currently have if you die with resources, you are losing out on potential xp. More stuff like this in the wilderness please.

I don't think the xp gained through dg daily challenges changes from 117-120. Also it increases every odd level (or new floor), but I'm not sure why this does not happen at 119.

Armour on stakes in EoC, you take a mage gear switch, displace attacks and switch to the mage gear for your opponents hit (for defence boost) and back to melee gear for your hit (so you don't lose accuracy). Idk if it'd be worth doing in other PVP due to the ability CD.

Finally got one. Thanks to the guys in "max club" fc :) -
3 times a day. I got 121k mining xp per warband, which is very good considering how long it takes.

Another one bites the dust. -
Tui has 60 prestige - meaning she has gone up to floor 60 and then reset her ring of kinship. She also did Floor 53. The base xp you get for a floor depends on how high the floor is and your prestige, so as your prestige increases and you can access higher floors, the xp per floor will increase. You don't really want to do any skilling whilst dungeoneering. DG is a pretty vast topic and I don't know how to give any good summary pointers really. You could check out youtube for some basic guides, as well as the puzzle guides on RSwiki. Making sure you have a decent ability bar set up and good binds will help too. For melee you'd want at least a 2H and a plate for instance. A lot of it comes with experience. I'd recommend doing C6 smalls for a while to begin with, then trying out solo mediums (C6) to start practicing gate placement and making decisions about where to gate. Later on, check out the guides at xpwaste.

Make sure you keep freedom on cooldown for the glacyte bit - if you get frozen next to the unstable and it fires a spiky attack at you with freedom on CD, you can actually die. Just use SS. Penance is nice. I like to asphyxiate the first glacor stage right away, then asphyxiate the enduring (sapping->enduring->unstable) and wild magic the 2nd glacor stage. You only really take damage on the glacyte bit (little buggers can actually hit 500+, so I like to get that out of the way ASAP) Use magic not drygores. Although you might want to train defence xp rather than magic. Oh, and use anticipate, freedom and surge to keep your momentum up whilst looting/repotting/w.e.

I get 8-12 minutes on solo mediums generally, which is pretty average I think for people who didn't live in dg 2010-12. You have to think about gate placement more in a solo medium than a 5 man large too, so they're good practice until you can use the 100+ dg world.

Why not? Just because you couldn't before the EoC? -

Why would it be a glitch. You magically teleport from your position inside the prison, to 10 steps away which happens to be outside the prison. Seems like a perfectly reasonable use of the ability to me. -
It used to be a big issue staking, and also in competitive warring apparently. (There's like 4 people staking in eoc these days) I don't have a skype, so I'm pretty sure my IP was bought from a SwiftIRC Oper. It has happened in the past, a while ago one of them was banned for selling IPs. I've lost a blue partyhat and a purple to ddosing, and also 'lost' 2b to one of them, but staked the guy again whilst logged into a neighbour's wifi and won it back. The solution with staking is for your character to continue auto attacking in the event of a disconnect - not sure if this is practical/possible. Oh, and it's absolutely a fact, and also performed against the player rather than the server. One of the more disreputable hosts in win all day would hit other hosts off when they announced a big bet in the fc, so they'd do it on him instead. It is actually quite a significant issue that needs looking into IMO.

This sounds like fun :P Obviously you'd have to go with a whip and rune armour to look like a convincing zero member, but hey. -
My plate/lacquer final trio succeeded, got superior tetsu now :) Currently have the scrolls for all of tetsu, seasinger and one scrimshaw. Gunna start working on death lotus next.

Callng that bs. The xp rates sub 80 are like an order of magnitude lower than level 120. It's actually one of slowest skillest at the start in case you forgot. Hardly. Just did some duo mediums with my brother who is 60 dg. He got 75k xp from 5 mediums, which took just under an hour. 75k/hr at level 60-62 isn't particularly bad xp rates. Still faster than many skills were at 99 before runespan, fpf and eoc slayer.

So how would this work for new players? most of runescape has given up on doing dungeoneering because of it's "better results if you team up" forced skill (and also they have their share of chaotics, 99 or 120/maxed), and if you're new or one of those who havent gotten to that point, it IS slow, and painful, and hair-splitting. Unless jagex finaly realise that EXP AS A WHOLE and tokens, should be boosted, both for multi and single, it's going to be a skill people will hate to grind, much like prayer was before the introduction of Gilded Altars. Nope. Solo C6s are good xp from levels 1-60 ish, then you can do some mediums and maybe go to the low levelled dungeoneering world for larges. After you get to level 80-90 or so, it really starts getting very fast, even solo-ing nowadays.
