14th June 2010 - Guaranteed Content Poll: Halloween 2010 Reward
I voted on pumpkin seeds. The skeletal puppy would probably end up being limited use like the squirrels. I'm not surprised that the bone brooch is winning. Didn't it get in second place last year?

The 1800+ forums are a much better place to be than the members and everyone forums.

14-Jun-2010 - Free Player Forum Access Expanded
Well I won't be visiting the everyone forums anymore, not that I make a habit out of visiting the RSOF to begin with. Like any MMO, the official forums are chock to the brim with trolls.

Quick chat
Given some of the people in this thread, I'm perfectly alright with them not being able to talk in-game.

since when did collecting swamp tar become a crime???!!!
There needs to be a sticky thread where kids can whine that some meany is calling them a noob/bot/newb/etc, and instead of allowing people to post in the thread it would simply give them the message "grow up and get over it." You have an ignore function so you can get rid of people like this. Use it.

09-Jun-2010 - Court Cases
I'm continuing my fishing to 99 to get the court summons. It'll be a nice diversion. Also: Omali, Ace Attorney. Omali, what are your plans for your first case?

Bots are making a come-back
Yea I'm so jealous. I wish I could get a program to play a game for me, because as you astutely pointed out Runescape requires me to sit around my house all day while botters, I assume such as yourself, are out getting all the hot chix and drinking bacardis and having sweet rave parties and greeting other people by doing that thing where you point both of your fingers like guns and go "pshew pshew" like the sound guns make, and then you go beat the [cabbage] out of some nerds because math is for [bleep]s, and it's the only way for you to assert yourself over those losers with no social lives. I get the feeling howbadisbad is going to pull a BloodArgon, and we'll see a post from him in the "I got banned" thread explaining how he's quitting after his umpteenth macro account got banned. But hey, at least in the meantime you've managed to put dem nurds in their place, right? I lol'd reading this because you put things in such hilarious terms, while assuming that by "have social lives" I meant going to huge parties and being like a boss. Tbh, if I was a bot I would laugh at the people who play legit (beat their asses irl by omali's standards) because I got the same thing as them with much less work, and I had fun (rave parties by omali's standards) And yes I will come back on this thread and say: OMFG JAMFLX BAND ME WTF DOOD I WUZ UNLY BOTIN FOR AL 99'S OMFG I QUIT RIP FAQSCAPE (Insert date when I was banned here) I will have you know that I have trademarked FAQscape (Frequently-Asked-Question-scape) for a future MMO and will be enforcing my trademark in exactly now thank you.

Gluttonous Behemoth
As someone who has a meme in their location, I'm not surprised by your [cabbage]posting Also: Bosses scale by level. I highly doubt you could solo the behemoth he gets with your "much suckier stats"

New Castle Wars Armor Costs 1-3 Months
I promised that I would republish all of my Runescape related articles on MMO Fallout here, so here it is. Back in pre-MMO Fallout 2008, I pondered whether or not Square Enix hired sadists to create the biggest bosses for Final Fantasy XI, and if I remember correctly my verdict was yes. Of course, the barrel of that days gun was pointed at Beyond The Limitation, a Final Fantasy guild that gave a detailed description of their fight against the boss Pandemonium Warden, before they finally gave up and trudged out some 20+ transformations and 18 hours later. Oddly enough, the group left the fight so that their, presumably 20+ hour, victory would not have been picked up by the press and used against gamers. Rather, their defeat was picked up by the press and used against Square Enix, especially the following quote: So Square Enix later altered the boss battle, and several others, to be shorter, but the story still stands almost two years later as one of the remaining reasons why MMOs have some of their less desirable reputations, mind numbing tediousness. But speaking of mind numbing segues, Runescape launched a pretty substantial update to the mini-game Castle Wars, a capture-the-flag style game where players representing one of two deities fight to take the other teams flag. Each Castle Wars game lasts 20 minutes, and on more populated worlds regularly runs down to who can zerg rush with the most area of effect spells. The armor Castle Wars provided was something of a status symbol, as despite not being particularly powerful, the armor took a lot of dedication to the game to obtain. For winning a game of Castle Wars, you gain two tickets. A tie results in one ticket, and a loss results in no tickets. At twenty minutes per round, even the most basic set requires almost five hours of game time, assuming you win every match. The rewards become increasingly ridiculous as you move up to the tier 4 armor, as shown in the chart below: Rank 4 armor, Profound, requires a minimum of 1,975 games (this is assuming you win every game), which will take 658 hours to complete. This amounts to over 27 days of pure Castle Wars, 24 hours a day, assuming you win every game you ever play. To put it bluntly: For each win, the statistic remains the same. For each tie, add 20 minutes. For each loss, add 40 minutes. Every time your win:loss ratio goes down 10%, you waste over 70 hours of pure game time. So a player with a 75% rating will lose over seven and a half days of pure game time. That is an extra 182 hours of time spent making no progress. To top it off, my figures dont include the wait time in between rounds. Factor that in, and you end up with almost 150% of the previous estimation. The Castle Wars professional cape, which costs 2 tickets, is only available after playing five thousand games of Castle Wars. Accomplishing this would take almost 87 days, factoring in waiting time, playing 24 hours a day. I dont dictate to players how they should spend there time, but there is a fair line between grind and ridiculous that both the Profound armor and the Professional cape crosses. Players who obtain this cape will surely be greeted as they wear it in the streets, but I have a feeling it wont be with the respect they might anticipate. More on Runescape as it appears.

Dungeoneering: Beyond the Release
This is like watching two people who don't really speak English try to have an argument. "These are my claims and they are valid." "I do not doubt you, but your claims." "My claims are valid, and I shall not reveal secrets." "I do not doubt you, but your claims." "I shall not reveal my secrets, but my claims are valid." "I am not doubt your claims, but they are not valid." "My valid, they are claims."

How many monsters have you killed?
When Jagex announced the adventurer logs, I believe they said they wanted to expand the kind of information you can see, including how many of each monster you killed. I don't have a source available right now. Still, it's a great idea.

RIP OLD SCHOOL
Welcome to MMOs, where leveling gets easier as the game gets older. This is an industry norm, nothing out of the ordinary here. 2004: Runescape is diving into a dark age. 2005: I see a dark age coming soon. 2006: Dark age coming! 2007: Dark age. 2008: There is dark age. 2009: Dark age approaching! 2010: Dark age on its way! 2011: Dark age is coming! you get the point. Andrew hasn't been Jagex's CEO since around 2001. Then it was Constant Tedder, followed by Geoff Iddison, and now Mark Gerhard. And if you think Mark Gerhard did the stupid updates, you weren't paying attention when Geoff Iddison was in charge. Gnome Copters? Seriously? There is normal business, and then there is Iddison-style shoving members down your throat. Constitution and Dungeoneering are a lot more supported than you would ever hope to admit, and Constitution had a lot of justification. You would be amazed to see just how much of an effect small aesthetic updates have on the community. As for time, stuff that you mentioned may take a couple days for a small team to put together, and do not have a noticable effect on the rest of Jagex's projects. Nothing was delayed because Jagex wanted to make more cursors. Also: The homepage and forums are worked on by a website team, separate from the content team. Again, nothing was delayed so the forums could get an upgrade. Jagex is trying to insert themselves into the market, but not for the reasons people think. Runescape is still unique in many aspects, including its charm, and a lot of these updates are just issues that have existed for years that no one thought to mention. Take a look at this financial report from Jagex in the fiscal year ending March 2009: They are not strapped for cash. Nowhere near it. Yes, that is official. I'll refer you to the financial report. No company is going to sell off when they are boasting higher record profits every year. Most rumors skirt around the legal definition of slander, it would be in your best interest not to forward them until you have more information as to your presented subject.

Gluttonous Behemoth
Gluttonous Behemoth is best killed with a crush weapon, although it is also weak to stab. Your best bet is to use metal armor + mage prayer. If you can't get any Katagon ore on a level, mine/buy some lesser ore and make more metal armor. It won't offer a huge amount of protection, but it will help. I haven't had too much of a problem with Gluttonous Behemoth, but then again I'm 110 combat and level 29 dungeoneering, so I'm not fighting one that is as powerful as you are. My points above, however, are confirmed by Rune Wiki. Now the Bloodchiller, that makes me want to pull out my hair.

Jagex's updates
No, you're just like the other people who haven't actually intelligently thought out your opinion, so rather than respond to my points you just whine more that I'm flaming. From the Forum Rules: Key: Well thought out, valid argument, worthy of discussion, "imagine how people would respond," provide a solution. Your thread falls into none of that. Nope, not that kind of person. No, as I pointed out before, it's a place to have intelligent discussion about something that is bothering you about Runescape, something you are incapable of with this thread.

Jagex's updates
Y'all can go ahead and return to the RSOF now. No patience for little ten year old trolls.

Jagex's updates
Four years? That makes you just two years off of not being an rs2 product. May I smell your blouse? I didn't realize you were the curator of what is considered a skill. So does that mean that construction isn't a skill? Because you can only train it at one point: Your house. I guess construction is a mini-game. Jagex said many times that Dungeoneering would be very different from any other skill in Runescape, and leveling it would be a collaboration of all of your other skills, so your whining about it not being like every other skill in Runescape, or requiring other skills confounds me. It tells me either you didn't read, or you can't read, what Jagex stated many times. More importantly, if players have low skills, they can always lower the complexity levels, and Jagex has already stated that the main path is always set up so that the player can complete it. If the best that you can come up with against Dungeoneering is that it doesn't make you fast munnies, and that it requires skills and can only be trained in one place, then stop whining about it. There are people on these forums making actual points about how Dungeoneering can be improved, that are having their image tarnished by crybabies such as yourself who simply want to throw themselves down on the WalMart parking lot and flail around like a spastic five year old because they didn't get what they, in their deluded mind, perceived the skill to be. Translation: My e-penis is now permanently flaccid because Jagex ruined my max hits videos. If you were an actual veteran, you would know just how many people appreciate this update, as it allows for a much more precise hit system. You would think with all the viagra spam going around the net, this wouldn't be such a problem. No...I'm supposed to be supportive of these issues...Um...Size is all on your perspective. It's actually bigger than it looks from your point of view. OMG DEY GIF US MOAR HELTH. MUST BE COPYING WOW. The instant you bring up competing with WoW, any doubt that you're just grasping at straws is gone. The instant you feel like you represent "everyone" is the same instant you should pull your head out and recognize that you haven't made a single point, and you have to use hyperbole to make yourself sound credible. Correction: They don't listen to your feedback. If you want them to listen, consider saying something worth them listening to.

[bleep] Jagex's slider puzzles. There must be a subsection of Jagex that is tasked with making [developmentally delayed]ed puzzles like this. I know, let's make a giant puzzle that requires you to not only sit and wait for each individual slider to go by, but if you [bleep] up in the 50 turns, you're screwed and have to start over derp derp derp. I'm really not surprised that the guys who did ME2 did this. You can tell by the fact that the quest relies on obscure things you did when the previous quest was released FOUR FREAKING YEARS AGO. - 25-May-2010 - The Elemental Workshop III
