The shunned skill capes
Whenever players set a group of things on the same platform, the easiest ones to obtain will always end up being "nooby." You shouldn't care what other people think about your achievements, granted as long as you're not trying to show off (which, despite what people think, wearing a skill cape is NOT showing off). If it is an accomplishment to you, it is an accomplishment to you. It's like when you see professional figure skaters who make a [cabbage]-ton of money skating, and people are whining about how they "have no skills." They are doing what they love, and tough [cabbage] if you aren't. What you don't want is to become this person: http://nourltobefound.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/1273005252647.png Linked because of language.

No money for expensive skills
I love how like yourself think that people are bashing him because he's a low level, when if you'd actually read the responses instead of going into your usual child-in-a-Walmart-parking-lot fit, you'd know that people are bashing him because he is impatient, rants like an eight year old ("and as well as being stupid."), and doesn't understand basic concepts of money sinks and slow skills. I'll quote some of the people who have encouraged him, but if you can find a single post bashing him specifically for being low level, go ahead and quote it. With the other posts being general advice on how to make money and train. So again, feel free to find me this bashing based on level. I was in his shoes at one point, except I didn't whine about how Jagex should make the game easier to cater to me. I continued leveling. Please stop posting until you start fact checking what you write.

May i please play "Runescape"
Clearly a man after my own heart. Wait...I have a grudge against Jagex? Please, do continue. As was stated in Léon, "I ain't got time for this Mickey Mouse [cabbage]!" Common politeness as many people expect it is reserved for your parents who have to watch you while you stick a fork into the toaster to fish your bread out, and say "I'm not calling you stupid, I'm just saying that your action was stupid," when really they're trying to figure out whose side of the family you got the gene from. TIF operates more along the lines of "ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer," or in this case, whine about a non-issue, get pointed out in blunt force that you're whining over a non-issue. Yes, Jagex considers this to be a huge update, even along the size of a full fledged expansion. Players may disagree, but it is how Jagex markets it. And as I've pointed out, every major MMO changes its name to fit the most recent expansion pack. Hell, Everquest changed its name SIXTEEN TIMES in the past eleven years. As for why Jagex hasn't done this in the past, you need to remember that Jagex markets a lot differently than most MMOs. Up until maybe a year or two ago, they did virtually no advertising whatsoever other than having the website on miniclip. So having big announcements like this really didn't do much. In the lead up to Dungeons of Demonheim, I saw a lot of coverage of Runescape on varying MMO websites, as well as interviews with Jagex staff. They're just now coming into the medium of mass media. If you can't handle some sarcasm, or criticism that doesn't end with "but I respect your opinion and you are entitled to have it," without resorting to playing victim and telling people to leave your thread, then:

Year Capes ALready =/
Holiday items = Year capes. No chance. We already have enough elitism during the short times where people have their holiday items out. Allow people like SerRaimus to swing his e-pen0r any more wildly, and you're likely to risk breaking teeth.

Holiday Musings and a permanent solution to rares
1. You can't take items out of an economy and expect people to use your presented alternative. That approach never works. 2. That isn't a bad idea. 3. No.

May i please play "Runescape"
Dear Jagflax, You may think that this is a pointless rant from a kid too young to drive, and you would be completely right, but listen close. You call it Runescape: Dungeons of Demonheim, and I find that racist against the other skills in the game. What about Dungeons of Demonpoop makes it worthy of expansion status? What other game changes their name based on the latest expansion? I mean, they don't call it "World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich"...Oh wait. Well, they don't call it Eve Online: Tyran...oh wait. Well they don't call it Lord of the Rings Online: Siege of Mirk...no, they do. How about Dungeons and Dragons: Eberron...d'oh. Hold on, I'll find one. Anyway, I'm finding that your naming is racist. I didn't see "Runescape: Dungeons of Runecraftingheim" or "Dungeons of Constructionheim" or "Dungeons of Hunterheim" when the other skills were released! Where do you get off, making a big deal out of your biggest update since Runescape 2? You are a game developer, you are not allowed to feel pride in your work, only shame brought on by the enlightened few such as myself who see you for who you are: Jerk faced jerk faces who can't program worth [cabbage], and will stick with your game until the end of time to remind you how you can't advertise for [cabbage], you can't program worth [cabbage], you can't communicate worth [cabbage], and you'd better have that update out next week because I can't wait to call it [cabbage] too. Now if you don't mind, I have a conference call I need to get to. We're discussing what non-issue to cry about next. Look for my next thread: "The second to bottom pixel on the whip handle: Could it kill what little credibility Jagex has left?"

Post and discuss all Jagex Twitter updates here!
LMAO /edit: somewhere im hoping stellar dawn will fail, so they will fully focus on rs again... Except Stellar Dawn is a completely different game with a completely different team that doesn't draw resources from Runescape. Man I hope Duke Nukem Forever is canned so they can go back to focusing on Runescape again, herp derp.

Runescape Reboot
Runescape is one of the few MMOs that allows you to swap your character between servers. The reason other MMOs charge you to move from server to server is because, as you pointed out, each server has its own economy and moving items from server to server freely would genuinely screw up each game's economy, so the developers want to steer players away from making it a habit. The major difference between Runescape and other MMOs is that other MMOs are massive in size, whereas when Runescape gets close to the 2000 player limit, much of the map hotspots become packed to the brim. For Runescape, having cross-server change is not only necessary, it is mandatory. Otherwise, just think of how many people would quit when their otherwise low-end server was suddenly full constantly. It only takes 2,000 people to fill a server, and there are often more than 100,000 playing at any given time. If you made it exactly the same, then I would hope the rule against multi-logging would not apply to separate Runescape "worlds," but I would actually give it a shot with a new character. If Jagex allowed you to create a new character, similar to Runescape classic, it would have much more success than requiring a new subscription. I think you would see a lot of guilds move over, as well as power-levelers trying to make a name for themselves. I obviously can't say for certain that it would be feasible or profitable, because this has never been done before in the setting that Runescape has with its servers. The server would be restricted pretty much to those who want a smaller, closer community, which is exactly what they will get. If Jagex could feasibly handle it without delaying updates, I would like to see an alternate "world," and might even level an alt in it. A pleasant change from "omg ur a troll" Yes.

Runescape Reboot
Everquest is the only MMO that comes to mind immediately that has attempted special rules servers outside of your PvE, PvP, and RP models, and all of those servers were shut down apart from the 51/50 server (immediate level 51 with 50 AA points). As far as I'm aware, SOE is "considering" alternate rule servers for Everquest 2, but if Everquest is any indication, those servers have a habit of existing for around 1-2 years before shutting down and merging due to low population. I should point out that with Everquest, with the exception of the Legends server, players were still paying the regular subscription price. The biggest reason I'm against this is because it would take Jagex twice as long to develop, since they'll be developing for essentially two or more games. Think about it, with these alternate rule servers you would essentially have to code and balance once for every alternate server, to make sure that the code does not conflict with each version, and that the weapon/armor/item is not overpowered/underpowered.

Runescape Reboot
Such closed off servers would fail, horribly, especially with the suggestions you've put forth. "Hey, let's break the game and make it a dozen times more cumbersome to play, and then expect people to start from scratch!" Those servers would be about as dead as Runescape Classic.

wat the [bleep] is this?
Completely possible it was a bug, but I have the feeling there is an explanation to this that we are missing somehow. Have any of the other PvP armor/weapons you've lost acted in a similar fashion, or have you lost them? I've done far more research for this thread than many other, and I can honestly say I'm at a loss. If degraded PvP equipment is always destroyed upon death, no one is ready to confirm it (RS wiki, Rune Tips, among others)

Dungeoneering & System Updates?
Jagex needs to seriously upgrade their method of bug hunting if they are consistently finding huge bugs literally in the last hour before the update is released, after all these years. Most MMOs have their patches/updates gone gold, release ready, about a week before implementation, and they use that time to hunt out any remaining bugs. Jagex is one of the few developers that literally cannot point down a day to when an update will be out, including the day of.

wat the [bleep] is this?
It is my understanding that a lot of items that degrade with no option for recharging lose almost all of their high alch value when they start degrading. I think Jagex does it so players don't use the weapon until shortly before it vanishes, and then alch it for the 180k. I mean, 180k isn't much, but that is just my guess.

Jagex: The Mother of the Noobs
This rant is pretty much nullified by the fact that neither the trade limit nor the removal of old wilderness pking was because of luring, but because of the threat gold farmers had over the title, and Jagex as a company. You'll notice that whenever Jagex ups the trade limit, they don't talk about scams but rather the impact on the flow of gold exchange. The wilderness was just a manner of separating the two areas of Runescape, but yes was partially babying.

Should Jagex start beta testing with players?
Players don't listen to Non Disclosure Agreements. To prove it, here is a photograph of the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Alpha. Not my image.

Let me make my fires in peace!
Nope. Being an irritating pain in the [wagon] isn't against the rules, suffice to say.

When does anyone leave?
Noob is relative to the action at hand. Take the question: "Where is Falador?" and two players asking: A level 10 with low levels in everything else is a newb. A level 115 is a noob, and likely purchased that account. Walk around with a Legends cape in a members world, two players ask "Can I buy that from you?" A level 15 is a newb. A level 100 is a noob. Noob/Newb is relative to what can be reasonably expected out of a person at their level.

RIP OLD SCHOOL
Ignorance running three years strong. Usual talking points by people who still don't understand at the faintest distance the progression of events that lead to the 07 updates. Problem was stolen credit cards. Change the way you sell membership and this isn't a problem. e.g. sell membership cards at bestbuy or walmart. Problem solved. Jagex was more concerned about their pocket book than the game. They'd rather keep those players who "can't"/won't drive to walmart to buy a card than keep the game. Nice try, though. In Runes of Magic, there was a huge problem with gold farmers buying diamonds with stolen credit cards and stolen paypal accounts, and then selling them much in the way Runescape gold is sold. As a result, Frogster put a restriction that all diamonds purchased with credit cards and paypal accounts could not be sold on the auction house or traded to other players. Only diamonds purchased with game-cards could. Barely a few months after this restriction, Frogster shut down diamond trading on the auction house completely, as they announced instances of fraudulent diamond trading had gone up, not down. Jagex has already said that credit cards outweigh the other options so dramatically that cutting support for credit cards to utterly decimate Runescape as a viable game in the market, and would result in the loss of so many members that Jagex would ultimately end up severely laying off workers, if not shutting down completely. This is the 21st century, any online business that doesn't accept credit cards is going to be strung up and murdered financially. So don't talk to me like I don't know what I'm talking about, because I actually go on fact rather than wildly trying to justify being a crybaby.

Hatred towards birthdays
There are over 340,000 people born into this world every day. -Considering that the average human life span is 67.2, this means that on any given day I may opt to attend around 22.8 million birthdays. -By distribution of population, as well as life expectancy per region, 913,000 of those birthdays will take place in the United States. Daily. -Further dwindling it down, I can find five thousand birthdays daily in my very own New York State. -Slightly over three thousand will be for white families, and slightly under eight hundred will be for black families. -Half will be female. -Slightly less than half will not be celebrating in a house they own. -Fourteen hundred families will not be speaking English at this gathering. -One thousand will have not graduated high school. -Eleven hundred will not be old enough to go gambling on their birthday, and seven hundred will be old enough to dine from the 65+ menu at their birthday restaurant of choice, and will likely do so because their son/daughter is picking up the tab and they don't want to be "too much of a burden." -If I'm lucky, I can find the single daily birthday for the Alaskan native living in New York. So assuming you don't live in New York, that leaves me with and average of 5,013 strangers, every day, who will not whine if myself and another group of strangers don't attend their birthday parties. Why the hell should I pay you any notice? I want you to think long and deep about that, and yes the above statements are accurate based on 2009 statistics, with a margin of error of 3%.

Modern Warfare 2: Because if you're dumb enough to pay 15 bucks for a couple of maps, you deserve what you get. Though I am disappointed that they cut out any zombie or new weapons, I'm still content that 15 bucks keeps Activision alive for a bit longer, and I'll get to keep those maps for a few years instead of a month. Activision is doing fine, now that it's merged with Blizzard. It is Infinity Ward that is hemorrhaging employees and, according to industry analysts, is essentially a non-functioning studio at this point.

You were fighting...Chuck Norris. In which case, everyone knows he can't be fought in any area, regardless of PvP status.
