  1. Don't bump threads please.
  2. What about creative mathematical intelligence?
  3. Now onto... The Real Song For The Deaf - Queens of the Stone Age
  4. Rocket Fuel was probably the most memorable drink mix i've had, 1 shot of tequila, 1 shot of whiskey and 1 shot of white rum. If you get the proofs high enough on each of those shots it burns like hell.
  5. Personally i'd argue it was motivated more by religious sects than patriotism, but it's hard to tell what each fighter was killing for in his heart.
  6. To be honest I find the amount of brightly coloured, garish packaging used in western food most staggering.
  7. Some of the war crimes committed by Slobodan Milosevic are almost unforgiveable, the brutal bombings of the Croatian cities of Vukovar and Dubrovnik and the 'ethnic cleansing' of towns in Bosnia-Herzegovina was a particularly chilling episode. However, there were also many, many honourable Serbs who defended Sarajevo during the siege. Of course, it's not as simple as 'all Serbs are good' and 'all Serbs are bad'. I think they are many good Serbs and many bad, just as there are with any nationality. But that doesn't make me have any kind of prejudice against them.
  8. Germany consistently trying to fight a war on more fronts than it could (WWI and WWII).
  9. I'm having a White Stripes day today. Currently listening to Jimmy The Exploder.
  10. That's interesting, why do you say that? I mean, the only president to compare him to was Hoover and he definitely did better than him. In what ways to the New Deals keep the US in the depression? Personally I think FDR, Kennedy and Lincoln were pretty good. As for worst, Bush would be cliched, but in my mind he is very bad.
  11. Never had it officially tested, and i'm willing to bet half of you guys haven't either.
  12. I haven't seen this band mentioned much around here, but i'm a big fan and they're rapidly becoming one of my favourite bands. Went to see them last night at the O2 Wireless Festival, and oh my god, they were good, unbelievably good live so raw and powerful it was amazing. I was pretty close to the stage and we were all pretty knackered from the Queens of the Stone Age, but people were still going crazy for most of their stuff. In the Seven Nation Army chorus everyone was jumping up and down in time it was amazing. But anyway, enough of that, their new album is out on Monday: Icky Thump and from what i've heard of it so far it's awesome. Anybody else into this Detroit rock duo?
  13. That's probably the most insightful post i've ever read, i'll reread it and add some comments a bit later. Thank you, for all these threads, they've been great. And of course, happy birthday and good luck with everything. :)
  14. Yes, but it would exist outside the universe, and so we can't measure it or think about it, so it's useless as a concept.
  15. Absolute time as in the measure between the beginning of time or universe (was there time before the universe?). So aging only applies to relative time or an observer of time, right? So what does age have to do with the common moment? I suppose if you had like a being outside the universe (call him god, or bob, whatever) that started a stopwatch at the moment of the big bang and was counting the seconds, in that sense there would be an absolute time. But as far as we know, there is no transcendent being outside of the universe, and within the universe time is relative, so it is meaningless to pose the question (kinda). It's confusing as sin though, either way. @Ragen, yeah the faster you go the slower your time flows, and the closer you get a source of stronger gravity the slower your time flows.
  16. Indeed. Locked.

Sorry, but I can't see this attracting many valid replies. Locked.
  18. Umm, what? I think i'll lock this for spam, let me know if there's an intention i'm missing.
  19. The latter. But if you look I think they tend to be the 'higher' (in terms of evolution) animals, and since we seem to be the natural progression of that love is just an overreaction of the brain for that need to be together with someone. That said, it's become a lot more than that now. @trapical, I absolutely agree and can relate to that feeling of just being happy being with someone. There's a big thing with teenagers about my age seeing how 'far' you can get with your girlfriend, sex seems to be the pinnacle of a relationship. I think that's naive and shallow, my only experience of what I'd consider love was where it was enough to make me just happy, perfectly content just to sit with the girl I liked, or just be on the phone to each other while we did other stuff, just listening to her breathing. I didn't care about all that other stuff, some of my happiest memories are doing things like you described, just being with her was always enough to me, i'd never have expected more.
  20. There is no absolute time.
  21. Because it's cold today, a hoodie and jeans.
  22. You would still age (an oxidation reaction), but relative to others you wouldn't age as fast. I.e. if you were to move away from the black hole and go back to earth you would find that relative to your measure of time, people would be much older. Of course, the force required to keep yourself just outside a black hole would be fairly tremendous.
  23. If you concentrate hard enough you can see ghosts in any double exposure or blurred image. I somehow doubt that 'ghost' would have revealed herself if the picture had been taken with a modern camera.
  24. Floyds Guitar Blues - Muddy Waters Coar, you can't get much more blue than this.
