What good things have happened to you recently?
I'm alive and have my health, which is good enough for me. But apart from that, I don't have too many exams left now, i've got loads of great books to read over the summer, i'm going to more festivals (O2 Wireless, Leeds fest) than I thought I would be, and umm...yeah, life's good.

The Happiest Day of my Life
Oh yeah of course some people have it worse, but the fact that you recognise that despite all that you've been through makes it even more impressive to me. It would be too easy in that situation to think otherwise. And as you said people who've been through or are going through rough times can draw inspiration and hope from stories like this, I know I have.

The Happiest Day of my Life
Christ mate I had no idea that you'd been through all that, bloody hell that must have been rough. What an uplifting story though, honestly reading through that's made my night, or week, or month whatever but that's honestly fantastic, brilliant news. I'm genuinely, genuinely happy for you, you must be absolutely chuffed. Awesome. I think this warrants a... \

A reason to be afraid of the doctor's office again...
There's nothing wrong with euthanasia, how can any of you say that you wouldn't want to be released from suffering when you had a terminal disease which meant your 'life' was a 24 hour hell?

What do YOU think happens after death.
I imagine it will be like before I was born.

.:Ghosts:. Theorys and beliefs
No, you haven't.

Where your birthmark?
Why does religion have to be brought into it? :? Anyway, I have one on my lower back, and I think I have one somewhere else but I have no idea where. Hmm...

Impossible! Grrr ;)
Any scene in any film where a single bullet hits some kind of oil drum or gas tank and there's a huge explosion. Or a helicopter or car crashes at fairly average speeds and it explodes, spectacularly. I remember that kind of thing being parodied well in a Simpson's episode.

The world's end
The issue of Israel-Palestine is a seperate issue which i'm considering raising in a new thread. Absolutely false, as Satenza said America was founded as a secularist nation. There was a recent court ruling in Dover Pensylvania banning the teaching of Intelligent Design in schools because it was bringing religion into the education system. I actually have no objections to religious education as long as it's presented in a completely objective way. I'd like to see you explain away the fact that the highest crime rates, the highest murder rates the highest capital punishment rates and the highest divorce rates are all in the Bible belt states. The founding fathers succeeded because of guerrilla military tactics, better planning and strategy and an element of luck, not divine intervention It came from the founding fathers fed up with religious oppression. That's absolute and utter bs. Where have you been living? America has prospered because of massive natural resources, a successful capitalist industry and common ideals. There's still a lot of problems with America though. Jefferson's word, actually. See the earlier point, you're suggesting people without religious absolutist barbaric slave morals cannot be moral, when the opposite is true. Those questions have nothing to do with modern day issues or ethics, get over it. Oh please. As if any of us really got our morals from divine powers. The roots of morality are steeped in Darwinian evolution, not your bigoted absolutist God(s). And yet, the biggest threat posed to the freedom and safety of the constitution and American ideals comes from the Christian right, ironic really.

.:Ghosts:. Theorys and beliefs
As far as i'm aware, noone becomes a ghost. Visually representative of a flowing, mysterious body. Easy, they're all fake.

Satanism
Definitely, absolutist morals are dangerous, but that's not what satanism advocates.

Man, you're depressin' me OT.
Haha, yeah I was thinking the front page has gone from: to this. Interesting cycles really, questions, hate, violence, angst etc. etc.

My life. And why it sucks. Real bad.
Nothing is worth killing yourself over, you have no friggin' idea how lucky you are to be alive to have had a girlfriend, have had a band and to have a car. Stop wallowing in your own self pity and wake up and realise how lucky you are, make the most of your life because it's absolutely all you've got, and it's down to you to make it amazing, not us, not your parents, not your girlfriend, you. Never take anything for granted, never take anything for read, go out there and make your life amazing because you can, and you will and this is nothing but a blip on the radar, a dot on the map, what seems like everything to you now is meaningless in the grand scheme of things, so sod them, sod everyone else and all the naysayers and people who would seek to ever put you down because you are and you will be a beautiful human being and nobody will ever take that away from you, nobody.

Do you like snakes?
My dad's terrified of them, I don't mind them at all though. Saying that, I haven't seen a wild one in ages. The worst we get are adders, which are frankly pathetic when it comes to some Aus snakes.

Satanism
Defender, you talk a lot of the dangers of self-indulgence, but I think you're missing the point. Satanism doesn't mean that you have to have absolutist self-indulgent morals, it simply means you're not afraid to live your life in a way that you see fit, and not dictated by a higher being. That doesn't mean that you necessarily live for the now, or live to the extreme, it just means you live how you want to live. If it's a cult because its philosophy is on untested ground what does that make your, or any religion? I've yet to see any arguments for 'fact' or 'truth' within any. You're also then making false assumptions based on Webster, i.e. someone's philosophical outlook is the truth on the matter. That might be true for hard sciences, but for things like moral codes you can't define an asbolute truth when it comes to those. You said selfishness leads to destruction, when in fact I could argue ultimate selfish motivations on the gene centric level of things is actually what has advanced us so far. That's not to say altruism doesn't exist, it does, simply that it is driven by interior motives.

I am proud of myself, I helped a blind woman get home
It's a sad reflection on our society when this kind of deed warrants special mention, it should be common place. But that takes nothing away from you, well done for doing the right thing. :)

Satanism
That was interesting, and not at all what I thought it would be like. I think like Nadril that kind of philosophy is perhaps akin to my own (if not a bit darker) but i'd rather not tie myself to a particular church or set of beliefs to follow it, even if it is a lack of belief. Interesting, but ultimately not for me.
