  1. Children Of The Damned - Iron Maiden After watching the Seven Ages of Rock documentary on heavy metal, i've developed a sudden appetite for it, I can't get enough of it at the moment, although I don't have much.
  2. How are near death experiences a source of reliable information? It's a last minute hallucination of the brain. All mediums are fake, as Mercifull has said there is a 1 million dollar prize (actually several) for any mediums who can prove their powers. They've all been untouched. The rest is sheer coincidence, the world has been predicted to end many times in the past but never has.
  3. You mean like when you drink a lot, end up sleeping with someone who you kinda like but not really that much, get them pregnant but deny it, go through a whole cabbage load of paternity suits and DNA testing only to determine what you feared to suspect anyway, then end up being unable to get an abortion because it's too late into the pregnancy, and then having to go to court yet againt to decide how you're going to fund your brand new baby with that girl who you 'kinda liked', forced to quit school to get a job to provide for the baby even though benefits should cover it, lose out on a good education, get stuck in some dead end job with a baby that was orn of a girl you kinda liked and never really live to your full potential? Yeah, it happened.
  4. I'm sure we could make some profit out of their bodies.
  5. Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb [Live] To be honest, I doubt i'll ever hear a solo that sends more shivers down my spine ever again. Stunning.

Stop bumping it then, just leave it.
  7. A very interesting read, although I might have thrown Lockheed Martin into there for sheer prestige of people who get to work for it. And Google.
  8. Red Actually bright blue, but meh
  9. Oxford Street in London i'd say. Go from there.
  10. I've got a couple of jobs to do around the house (painting and stuff), 2 weeks work experience at an accountants (fun), 1 week diving trip with school, 2 weeks in Cornwall sailing with my family then probably working a bit. In my spare time i'll just be reading, going for walks, playing my guitar and trying to relax until results day.
  11. I don't particularly dislike any subjects (although I don't see how anyone can enjoy writing essays) but physics would definitely be my favourite.
  12. I actually quite like this new album of theirs. Although I have to admit I have a definite preference for their more ambient, dark stuff.
  13. Tarantula - Smashing Pumpkins Awesome new single.
  14. Pirates of the Carribbean: At World's End - wasn't as bad as all the critics made it out, I enjoyed it, and although it was hard to follow in places 3 hours of Keira Knightley is no bad thing in my opinion. Some scenes seemed a bit thrown together, but others worked well.
  15. I suppose to extend to my earlier post, a discussion about AI might be relevant. Depending who you believe, since reasoning has been argued to be non-algorithmic (the basis of modern computers) then we still might be a long away from true AI until we invent a new science of consciousness.
  16. Or you just say, 'Haha, you didn't actually study for this exam did you?' Then get an amazing mark. I get that actually with Scrubs, and i'm sure it's hilarious at the time but I just end up going...'a...heh' :-s
  17. Amazing, I haven't really checked but what does the future of quantum computing look like? I've heard mixed reports, from 'it's impossible' to 'we're nearly at the breakthrough'. What really fascinates me though is the day when we will be able to transfer our own consciousness into a virtual world and thereby in effect become immortal. I think it's probably a long, long way off though (if at all possible).
  18. I remember seeing them a while back in Cornwall, absolutely amazing.
  19. I ended up having a delicious lamb and spinach curry. Mmm.
  20. This pleasant, cheery topic has already been done. Locked.
  21. My point exactly. Fighting for one does not negate fighting on behalf of the other (perhaps fighting is a little extreme, especially for animals, but you get the idea).
  22. No deal. Your question is, as I said, redundant because I cannot put myself in a position of paternal responsibility. If you want to know why I think I would value the life of my daughter over an animal the answer is obvious, she's my daughter, my child and I would love and care for her more than anything else in the world. If you're asking why I would in general value the life of a human over that of an animal it's because when push comes to shove I think we should put our own species and survival first. But I believe ethics are subjective to a situation and it's not as black and white as you make it out. But as i've said, countlessly, that does not mean one cannot stand up for the rights of animals, against battery farming or unethical conditions. Against unncessary cruelty when being slaughtered or testing for beauty products. I'm surprised that as someone who calls themselves a Christian you seem so against the idea of working towards a more ethical treatment of animals. Another question, answer this one, would you value the life of your daughter's captors over that of a cow? One is human and the other animal, but one has done nothing to harm your daughter.

Wow, haven't seen you around in a while, and that is indeed a manly car :P
  24. Well done, you've not only managed to miss the point entiely in 4 consecutive posts, you've also managed to not read my previous post or answer my original question. I'm not going to respond to that redundant question because it's entirely false, and you wouldn't have even asked it if you'd read and understood what I said.
  25. Firstly, warri0r has just as much right to post in this thread as you do, and is doing so in a much more coherent fashion than your ridiculous logic and rhetoric. On the subject of answering questions you have still failed to answer mine. I've already told you why your question is redundant and not a simple yes or no answer, but you can't seem to grasp why so i'll elaborate. Firstly, you're asking me, as a teenager, to put myself in a position where my paternal instincts would overwhelm rational thought and what I would normally think. Ergo, I not only cannot put myself in that position but the logic behind any decision made in that position wouldn't be sound. So it's impossible to answer that question from that perspective. To try and answer your question bluntly though, yes, I would still consider animal rights. Obviously the safety of my daughter would take absolute precedence over them as long as she was in danger but that does not mean that caring for my daughter and still taking into consideration animal rights are mutually exclusive. That is the key point, considering the rights and treatment of one does not forsake the other.
