  1. First off, applause for pokemana! Everyone who's so ****ing arrogant because you have the ability to pay 5 dollars for membership, holy crap. Think of the people who play this game at school only, because they're family cant afford a computer, should we just bar them out because they're less fortunate than you mighty five dollar man? Shame is all I feel for you, and it makes me sick that I may have had similar thoughts when I've had membership. Members:Free- the ratio of game material is so vastly disproportionate, free has 32/~150 quests, accesss to limited skills, and the skills they're limited to, are limited. you pay, so yes, your entitled to have access to EVERYTHING, which means you can expect cozy updates each week (which used to be each MONTH back when I first started, and we were happy then too) and Free players get to read about it and say "wowzers mr jagex thats neat!". The reason they put updates on the front page? not for the ease of players, its bait to say "hey free players look what they're getting on the other side of the fence! 5 bucks gets you in!" So, on my final note, I'll just say this: Free players dont get many updates, I remember when we got the range update, that was almost necessary to keep the gameplay going. They dont have to offer Free worlds, but they do because they're smart businessmen, who understand that if you treat a beggar, he'll return the kindness. which in this case is 5 dollars a month. The more they release to free to play, the better it will get for members, because the more money they have coming in because of all the people wanting to get everything, not just a taste. With more money comes the ability to afford better technology, more staff, and production of faster, better, and more rewarding updates. Next time think before you bash, because it makes you look [developmentally delayed]ed. On Topic- Someone posted that RCing is one of the most useless skills in f2p, doesnt that make it a prime target for an update? if people see that it could be fun, they'll buy membership to have fun with full benefits. however, thats just wishful thinking, Jagex isnt hurting for money, I know that much. So this update may or may not be available to everyone- map space isnt an issue, a simple ladder/portal fixes all continuity issues- but as it stands, we know that it will be available to p2p, so just sit tight and hope they throw us a bone. ~brando~
  2. I'm pretty sure getting 68 summoning costs less than 7 mill, so guthans is just going to its new appreciated value, honestly I think it should have been about 5 mil, most of the barrows sets are awkwardly priced, veracs is by far the most useful despite what people may say, as it can kill almost litterally anything. Guthans was a good replacement for food, but now with summoning, we have far cheaper healing sources, AND we can use any armour/weapon setup we wish, in theory saving millions on repair costs (although most slay with guthans, so the money is made back pretty instantaneously) overall, I'd say its all just falling in its place, its not undervalued or overvalued, fact is it's valued however people choose to value it. there's an old saying at garage sales "It's worth whatever someone will buy it for."
  3. i had consecutive black demon tasks well before sumona ever came out, im currently f2p, and have been since before smoking kills ever came out, and it is fact, im not misremembering, i remember how angry i was when he said for the third time to go kill black demons...
  4. I have to agree what what everyone here has said, litterally. 1: It could be whats behind the frozen door, given the current explanation of how underground maps work: i doubt the door would just be something you walk through, it will lead to its own seperate area- if it ever opens at all- 2: It could be the Ancient Caves, but until you prove that it is, speculation is fair game. and to add a third little spin on it- maybe your not seeing behind the frozen door... maybe you've found whats behind the mithril gate :
  5. Cyclopes are a good monster to use the RoW on, as they dont have that many drops, and the really only rare drop they have is defenders, which have a pretty good chance of dropping anyway- this is my first case where the ring of wealth, supposing it uses the roulette theory, would actually serve a visible difference in time and money. But, for anything else other than monsters with very select drops, the RoW is just a superstitious item that you wear because, lik others have said, theres not much of an alternative.
  6. I have a degree in religious studies, I'm atheist, to a point. I have a large amount of family and friends who believe in god, i even have family members who are part of the church (i wont say how far, because that could lead to IRL repercussions) Let me start over, im not exactly atheist, I know about almost ever known religion and in detail at that- I believe there are powers in the universe greater than the human, i do not however believe that a single omnipotent being made mankind specifically and watches over and loves us all. someone earlier made a metaphor with buckets, about how a small bucket cant fill a great bucket etc, well, think about a third option, what about one bucket filling a bucket of equal size? where's your god now? he/it is us, and to reiterate on a point also in that post we DO have the power to create equals, cloning isnt perfect, but it does exist. as for saying atheists are the least moral people, and that you are better... Har har har, *scoff* chuckle and giggles all around. Religion WAS the cause of MANY wars, modern times are different, religion doesnt play large roles in war anymore, past the fact that umm, Hitler was cleansing the world in the name of god... Bush is exterminating terrorists.. in what? the name of god.. so thats a poor statement to say religion, and christianity at that doesnt cause wars. as for saying your more moral ^^ we are human, and nothing more. we are able to commit murder, given the right circumstances, all religion and going to church does, is reinforce SOME good virtues, most of which are common sense in the world. Saying atheists are the root of all evil is the stupidest thing ive ever heard, because we dont accept god as reality, that makes us immoral crude and brutish? HAH. i have to disagree, on a very personal level too. you cant judge every person by their religion or race, thats what people call RACISM, PROFILING, and DISCRIMINATION. So sorry if this offends you, but you did take a shot, please this isnt a flame post, just a retrospective think about stuff post ;)
  7. Ah, I see where our opinions on paganism differ, I see nordic 'mythology' as an established religion, as do i see 'paganism' as an established religion (difficult to explain, its a more general religion than most), but you take the more generalistic view of anything not mainstream is paganistic? if thats close then i suppose we'll just have to cope with the difference, if not, please set me straight  edit- @above What happens to your soul after death, supposing you believe in a soul, is up to personal belief. and Who's to say that your God didnt 'come to power' we dont know the history of god past what's in the bible, so you cant say that factually.
  8. I never said that the ring DOESNT increase your chances, its just not by much, your right, on the chance you get on the second wheel, it gives you a higher chance (im guessing MAYBE 10% higher) of getting a rare drop. but what are the chances of landing on that second wheel? if it increased that, then i'd be all for it, but its design its just too finite to make it the godsend people boast about. As i said in my post, if you kill over 1k of something when the drop chance is estimated at 1/1000, and you use the ring, you might notice an increase, but in general, the random nature of drops makes the ring useful by exactly the % chance of getting your second wheel, seeing as we cant quantify that, we cant say for sure that it makes any difference in drops before 10000 kills. so to quote myself Ring of Wealth is like buying an extra lottery ticket. Your odds still suck. this applies directly to your wheels reference, one ticket, is one kill, one spin on the wheel, your second ticket is effectively your second spin on the second wheel, supposing that your first spin lands on that magical number to allow the second wheel to make a choice. the odds arent in your favour, it is LUCK.
  9. what do elves goblins and dragons have to do with paganism? paganism is a belief system, mainly surrounding nature, and gods of nature/natural cycles, and rituals that are designed to appease said gods, currently the closest thing we have to that that ican think of, is the druidic ritual quest, which is loosely pagan.
  10. My guess is that in the end, the SS will peak at around 9-10 mil, and then follow after the whip, my guess is that its end stable price by the end of august will be around 4-6 mil, and it will settle down after that, thats assuming things stay as they are currently, and no new weapons are released that rival it.
  11. I didnt mean to throw blame, I was just trying to show that religion isnt always accepted, it may be a discussion of rs vs paganism, but people are bringing their own religion into the discussion, so im just trying to say, dont judge peoples beliefs, even if they seem wrong to you. Personally, Ive spent more than a few years studying religion in its many windows and roads, and i know alot about the history and heroing tales of many religions. All in all, I personally find them hard to take seriously with the way people have used and abused them. for some people they truely are a saving grace in their life, but there others who merely go with the crowd, and think they believe something they dont actually know. but as i said before, rs doesnt hold a whole lot of similarity to paganistic ideals- you could take a metaphoric, or egsostential view, but they arent strong enough to be conclusive evidence that the rs gods were tailored after a pagan set.
  12. Lets take a trip... BACK IN TIME!!! to before the trade restriction when gold farmers ran wild and free \ Now, if jagex hadnt stopped the RWTing, lets think about what would happen: the economy would crumble, leaving only those who rwt, or had wealth to begin with, ruling the market of anything worth having. effectively, you could straight up BUY the runescape economy, and crash the game. Jagex wasnt about to loose their game to some rich kid, so they dealt with the problem directly and drastically, stunting rwt in their tracks! =D> mostly :shame: for players who were unhappy that their game would live on wanted a way to abuse the markets still, outside the perameters jagex had sorrowfully set. they created a new wave of rwting: JUNK, while not as effective, far slower, and more labour intensive, its still a way that someone could buy gold, and now its made all the more obvious with the release of item lending and 'renting' items. so, did you want to play the game, not being able to buy anything ever and have it shut down after about a year, or keep the game living, but with some tight restraints to keep it from tripping into a pit of piranha infested acid vats.
  13. Note that i didnt say paganism was a sole religion, paganism wasnt called paganism by its practitioners, its a hard thing to define, but the most generalistic view was a nature worshipping religioun that highly valued women, their practices were seen as rituals, often involving sacrifice. that description covers a fair chunk of all religion, at least before christianity took its rise. I promised i wouldnt get into it, but i just have to say: 'paganism' would have been far better for the world, i wont go into details again, but just think about how over 5 million women were burned as 'witches' after paganism was seen as evil, or the millions more who died in: the crusades, or just in the name of christ, almost every war in western europe was fought in the name of christ, on both sides. As for trying to silence someones opinion that religion isnt real: that makes you WORSE than him, because your denying him the right to express his views, what if he finds your boasting of 'Jesus' offensive? you have no right to dismiss his views, even if they clash with yours, because yours are the exact same to him as his are to you. *edit* " the Ultramega God SupaHaxor of the Pew Pewz Lazorz" is about the same as the Flying Spaghetti monster (pastafarians ftw) Wiki or google the flying spaghetti monster for more info, its a really interesting story.
  14. if you want more ranarrs bring a macaw  as for the ring, its too hard to calculate whether it helps or not, because of the randomness of the game, and the amount of drops each monster has, there's just too many variables. look at KQ, it has how many drops? and people count how many chains and d2h's they get, the chances are so slim, especially with the other drops, that it honestly wont matter in the long run what you wear, even if the ring increases the drop rate by 50%, thats like 0.001% all the way up to 0.0015% not exactly gonna be noticed in the shortgame, that being under 1k kills, but after 1k kills the effect will be noticeable and add up, except it wont, because of the other drops that come in with it, and how random it is to get drops. Ring of Wealth is like buying an extra lottery ticket. your odds still suck.
  15. Well, I love getting into religious discussions, not because i am religious, but because of research ive done, and many misconceptions about popular religion that people defend and believe, that I enjoy pointing out are indeed very wrong, and often fabricated. What i WONT do in this post (because people have already shown to be very defensive about religion already) is go into great detail about the history of paganism and how it was all but removed from existence in about the 400-1200 AD time period. Paganism, as many people believe it, is NOT the worship of the devil, (just pointing that out for those who may think it) this was a confusion, or diliberate lie, believed by the catholic church during the above time period, and for many years afterward that inevitably lead to the irradication of anyone following pagan rituals and lifestyles. Paganism itself was the worship of nature in its many different aspects, and the use of sacrifices and rituals to try and become closer and 'in the good books' with nature. Paganism worshipped women, and saw them as more important than men, because they were the bringers of life, however the entire society was seen as equal. Runescape consists of many gods, these gods do not range on nature, they range on virtue and moral- Zamorak (bad) Guthix (Neutral) Saradomin (good) Zaros (evil) Bandos (war?) Armadyl (from what i know, also on the side of good) now each of these gods (and im sure there are more, we may not know of) represents how people are inside, rather than representing the forces of nature outside, although they do in some ways represent certain elements, fire earth water air etc. all in all, theres a loose metaphorical if you want it to be, connection between RS and Paganism, however it isnt a satire or hidden reference to Jagex secretly being a pagan worshipping organization or brainwashers or some other nonsense. thats silly. dont even think about it.
  16. I went through the underground pass and ground my eyeballs out in the brimhaven agility course to get it, so hell yes i love it. I usually dont use it much in multi combat areas, but if i wanna train melee for cheap,i usually grab a hally and head to fire giants, the special annihilates them faster than a whip, plus you dont need to bring armour, food, pots, or really anything you dont want to. if theres a spot to hally, i take advantage, dds works great on somethings, definitly a godsend vs dragons, but against other boss monsters, its a relatively cheap way to get pretty consistent high hits. dds isnt as acurate, or powerful, its only saving grace against bosses is its poison, its up to you on which you find more useful in the long run. I use the hally sparingly, its nice for spec weapon in pc, knocking off 50+ damage is nice (my stats arent godly so 50's impress me \ )
  17. I'm sure its been posted, but about the only actual 'use' for firemaking -other than draining money out of the game- is pyre burning or whatever the barbarian thing is called, the level 80+ pyre ship has a relatively high chance of producing a dragon full helm (relatively high being higher than the drop rate of mithril dragons, or so i've heard, if im wrong please dont make a huge deal out of it :shame: ) other than that, some quests, and.. for the cape. pretty much it. as for what they could do with firemaking- possibly using it as an agility type skill- -burn dry vines to get to new areas, -making/lighting your own furnace(in conjuction with smithing and mining), -making flaming arrows (not like the ones from underground passage, but something like poison, where the fire has a chance to burn dealing extra X% damage) -make other fire related equipment- flaming sword (special ability requiring a certain fm level, or fm level giving a certain chance for a flame strike or something like that) flaming staff (gives a chance to boost fire related spells?) -bombs anyone? those are all i can realy think of atm, im sure there are many more great ideas for what could be done, but chances are jagex wont do anything near as useful or special. maybe just a new type of log?
  18. I have to agree with those who say that the difference isnt enough to make it a viable method of air running, the extra clicking for a few seconds may add up, but i prefer to keep my hands arthritice (sp? lol) free. as for the extra crafting bonus, its 10%, so if your crafting 1k essence, expect an average of ~90-110 extra air runes when the 1k essence is done. it isnt much, but its basically a free inventory of essence for me (35 rc ftw lmao)
  19. It's always nice to see a new update or two for F2P, especially since thats where i am right now  (save me please) the ring is alot more useful than people seem to be willing to accept. without going past just getting the ring, its already very unique, its starting abilities are pretty fantastic, along with a special bonus i like to call prayer +1. this is my new ring when facing something that is prayer intensive (ring of life is dandy, wealth doesnt make that huge of a difference to be worth it most of the time) AND it gives +1 to mage attack too. so stats alone make it unique and useful as far as rings go, I'd say it competes pretty well with onyx bracelet (2x healing rate, sounds useful to me, havnt tried it though) and when you fully unlock the ring, you gain: an extra 150% run when you need it most, plus you can always drop the ring with now worries if you need space 10% chance to get an extra rune (FAEW) means for people who like to air run, thats almost guaranteed extra 3 air runes per trip, which adds up pretty fast. 30 free low alchs- free mage exp, easy cleaning for low drops while training, i really like this, seeing as i dont play much, my training session would make perfect use of 30 free alchs, and free mage exp is just beautiful INFINITE teles to the cabbage patch. best update ever. ~Brando el diablo~
  20. Slayer is combat dependant skill, not a combat skill. you need the other forms of combat, mainly melee, in order to even have the skill (as to train the skill itself requires certain combat levels). In combat, you do not use slayer, it offers use of some equipment/spells, and the ability to be allowed to kill certain monsters, but it does not itself increase your damage in anyway, which is what combat skills do. have 99 slayer doesnt make you hit higher in any combat skill, or have any other actual benifit, other than use of equipment- I suppose its like a newer form of defence, but less useful in actual practice, because it only allows you to wear certain equipment, but does not actually increase your defences through the skill itself. based on those facts, I personally see it as a combat dependant skill, that opens more options for combat, without actually benifitting combat in any way- slayer mask doesnt count, as i said its simply equipment, the skill itself doesnt offer 15% extra str and attack- so, no it isnt a combat skill.
  21. It's the only place in Internet where they encourage the underaged kids to play with the ciminals  all lol's aside though, its a great place to get away from begging, if your above level 90 and wear anything remotely red, go to a f2p world and just time how long it takes before you wish a Nub-seeking missle would blow the tiny pixels away, and make them loose all their money, valuables, and password. I mean yes you can turn off chat, but i dont like having to use cc, or pm's to communicate solely, those are my contact devices which i use to go hang around with people, where i like to just type freely.
  22. Guys, I'm getting really tired of people discreditting others based on post count or when they joined, I personally have a very low post count, because i lurk alot, and there arent many topics i find interesting enough to add to. But when you instantly choose to assume its a fake photo on the sole reason that he just joined and has 1 post, that makes me mad! if anything thats more reason to show why it ISNT fake, i mean if you found something like that and werent a part of tif, you'd probably wanna show people right? That's not to say i dont think its a fake, it seems very unlikely that we'll need an engine, unless its for a quest or something for the new tutorial island update (possible, but unlikely) In closing- dont judge people based on their age/race/date of joining or post count. judge them based on their stupidity, grammar, ridiculousness and persuasiveness. if a person says 'dat soundz reel b3cuz it 4r3 ub3r 1337' then yes flame and say their stupid and fake, but if they have credible evidence backed with a fluent, legible, and strong opinion, give them a shot before knockign them down. *yes i know my grammar and spelling isnt perfect, my only excuse is that im lazy, so deal with it. ~Brando the Infamous~ buffet crasher
  23. Not sure about the rest of you, but this little line here raises a few red flags for me... Isnt doing things for others the definition of good or some likewise nonsense? I dont remember runescape being the pinacle of kindnass and comradery, but if the point of raising skills to 99 in the end benifits the community more than yourself, isnt that a good thing all around? selflessness and valour and.. whatever else Ghandi was knocking on about back in the day. I mean yeah, great if you want some perks for yourself, but you do have access to.. everything? whats so horrible about that, if you have 99 in a refining skill, chances are you have 99 in the prerequisite skill too, meaning you can be self sufficient, or just make ridiculous amounts of money with the latter (being the prerequisite skill) and do what you need to with the former (the refining skill). All in all, dont be greedy, we have more than enough of that. PS- im not flaming you for saying this, so dont be offended, im just stating some socialogical fact-ish things.
  24. @xSxqPowerx- just to clarify, perhaps i did come on a bit strong on people spending a solid week or two playing a game for a 99 skill, but thats just because i have different values of my time, im not discreditting anyone who spends that time, if they have the means to do so thats awesome, I personally dont have the time to get a 99, and probably never will, but thats me. I dont mis-appreciate what people have done and gone through to get a 99 skill, its alot of work, so sorry if i offended you, but my post was a personal opinion, yes im an egotistical jerk, but that doesnt mean i dont value what other people have done (as it says in my post) on topic- uhmm. Good job on 99's everyone! some people dont deserve to buy a skill, other people are smart for doing so, its all up to personal preference, do what it takes to make YOU proud of your accomplishment, other people can suck on a donkey &*#!^% if they dont like it. dont try to impress other people if it makes you feel bad doing it. (just so we're straight this is about getting 99's, not some dr. Phil moment. seriously.) ~Brando the Magnificent~ Slacker
  25. Being almost purely unbiased in my opinion (no 99 4 lyfe!)* i'd have to say that how you get your 99 is up to you, I havnt really immersed into this game enough to fully appreciate the 300 or so hours people put in to one thing. I mean grats, great job on not going outside, great determination, i give you credit for your valour and whatnot, but if someone doesnt appreciate how you got it, well.. straight up, plain and simple, they are dumb. If you appreciate, and value your achievement, then you've done good for yourself, and im proud of you. just because you bought a skill doesnt mean you dont deserve it, you still did the work, you just did work in other ways** to afford the fast method. Overall, i have to say, This is a game! dont fret over whether some sweaty obese kid is typing angrily at you because he feels he was devalued for not using a fast method, or for getting his 99 back in the good ol' days when there were no chinchompas, and the walk to falador was up hill in 4 feet of snow. both ways. * I sincerely apologize for that ... horrid.. thing i just typed, believe me it hurt to do, but yes, i have no 99, nor any intention of ever actually working to get one, rs is a time killer, and nothing more, and i must say i feel kind of guilty for how much time i've massacred over the years (6 year veteran, woo me, although i usually limit myself to 2 months in spring to not go outside. spring is the devil. i hate you mother nature for spawning spring) ** no one questions you for what you had to do for that money, i just hope it stops hurting when you sit soon. har har. ~Brando The Stoic~ly Lazy
