Firecape when training things related to melee (or maybe that nomad cape when praying), skill cape when not.

I can't believe that there's even one player who doesn't multi-task, since even watching tv is technically multi-tasking. Generally when playing, I'm watching a movie or listening to something at the same time & if not for that, I probably wouldn't bother playing RS at all.

taken from your argument on page 1. until u have the perspective of a high lvl slayer, how can u really justify that? i myself can easily get 80k exp per hour while training slayer and pull in a quite decent profit. I super pot and piety most tasks and don't pull in anywhere near 80k an hour... Even with an iron titan in multi, with piety, pots, etc, I'm only doing maybe 60k. Without the iron titan, I break maybe 50k. Not to mention that you can't really claim any reliable hourly exp since you're fighting different things and there's a downtime in between (like the minimum five minutes it takes to get down to dark beasts -_-). Profit? lol. Between cannonballs, prayer & super pots, sums, etc, I'm lucky if I'm somewhat above a break-even. Even when I get a more valuable drop, it's backdated to pay for costs incurred on previous assignments.

Pvp update last time Questing update this time That's pretty much 90% of the population catered for. We have no reason to moan really. Fine for the 90%, but what about us 10% who don't care about PvP or quests that don't unlock useful content? Plus Jagex still owes us a dragon pick and I'd like to collect on that before I finish 99 mining >_<

Lord Ith: P2P 2217 total

The only criteria I recognize for boss monsters are: A) Big. B) Unique. C) High-leveled. Very simple, very explicit criteria. Also a good point.

I'm sick of articles like the first... Currently, the majority of updates cater to mid-card players, low levels, and extremely low levels. We haven't had a really solid high end-game addition in ages, despite the highest levels being the backbone of this game as they're constant subscribers. Although I have to agree that, despite all of the updates to help players learn the ropes, there's a complete lack of self-sufficiency. It seems that there's even more pestering for help now than any time before. Back when I was a low level, I always tried to consult external resources first---despite not much being around at that point---yet these days it's like playing 20 questions with 30 or 40 players a day. There's so much available now; more than I would've ever dreamed of, including jagex-created articles on skills, yet newer (and even older) players are not properly availing themselves.

A gs is nowhere near comparable in terms of damage output to a whip on normal monsters. However, even in pvp a whip is going to vastly outpace a gs just due to weapon speed. Godswords are basically only good for boss monsters and specs. Even when I'm slaying something like specters with pro-mag on, I'm still much more likely to use a whip/defender combo than my sgs despite the gs's large prayer bonus (but I take the sgs along for specs, of course).

Skillcapes are less impressive than rares.

I feel its time to remove non ge trades.

And the way to fix junk trades would be to get rid of trade restrictions. -

How were you "forced" to sell it? You don't have to sell anything unless you want to. Also, with only 2 ranked skills, how did you get one in the first place? -_- -
Agility shows achievement? >_> It's become a fairly common cape, one that you'll see untrimmed along the likes of fletching, cooking, or fm. Although I give props to RCers, it's a cash skill. You can't really tell if they love the skill or the gp. Slaying is more of a pure thing, since it's a long rocky ride without a lot of monetary upside. The only capes that I'll ever wear are defense, fm, or possibly slaying/prayer. I like the look of the fm cape and I love its emote. It was the only skill that I leveled for the cape (although, to be fair, I had five 99s before those capes came out). Out of the nine 99s I've accumulated so far, I feel it's the only one that took any real effort (although alching was also a grind; I also haven't bothered buying capes for most of my 99s). However, as tacky as I first thought the melee capes were, I've really grown attached to defense. When I used to see a lot of guys with melee capes around, I used to have your same opinion and arrogantly dismissed them as being minor achievements. Of course, the very worst was defense, because I would mentally compare my defense exp to theirs >_> However, I identify with the defense cape both in terms of general philosophy and because I take pride in my defense exp. Then what's the point of playing at all? And "working out" does little to improve a person's appearance. Exercise has a limited effect on a person's good health (dietary habits and, of course, genetics often play the larger role) and will do nothing to enhance characteristics such as height, shoulder-span, bone structure, a person's face, etc.

Ranged/HP is NOT hard. Ranged is just a moderately slower melee, since it can easily be trained passively in an area with aggro monsters. I did my 99 ranged at SoS spiders, put far less effort into it than even WC. And HP exp is accumulated when you're training your other stuff. If you look at it in a vacuum, it might look difficult to gain but one day you notice that you've got 30m hp exp because you were busy leveling other stuff. Prayer I dislike. Prayer is a lot of clicking. Summoning involves jumping through hoops, but I still prefer it over prayer since it's not as much repeated clicking. The melee capes might take a while, but they're 60k+ exp an hour (except hp) towards the end. Not to mention that they're less work than most capes anyway. When you're cooking, you pull some fish out of your bank and hit cook all then sit back and wait a minute. When you're meleeing, you're just sitting back and making sure you've still got HP (unless you're training your melees as you slay, at which point you have to click on your monsters some times).

Ring of life when not looking for loot, ring of wealth when slaying, etc. Now and again I'll leave my ring of dueling on after training prayer or what have you, in part to compensate for the fury's lack of teleports. Wait, what? The only "prayer quest" req I can think of is the ghostspeak ammy and you don't need to finish the quest to receive it >_>

Tip.it Times posting more then one article

The quality has really been down lately, as well. Not that a lot of the stuff in the past year hasn't been somewhat dodgy, but now it seems more miss than hit. I appreciate that they're trying to generate a lot of new content, but they need better writers. One aspect that they don't seem to cover much is RS's real-world connection, such as the mythology Jagex decides to incorporate into the game. I guess that kind of goes against the grain, since the articles are generally op-ed pieces but it would make for a nice change. -
I don't think much would be lost should RSC ever be closed down, although I'd probably miss having access for bragging rights.

Even if most of the critics didn't have 270qp, that means nothing since quests are a joke anyway. There's no challenge to most of them and a few penalize you for finishing them (Path of Glouphie unlocks warped terrorbirds as a slaying task, for instance...). Give me skills any day, leave the quest capes for the guys who don't even have four 99s.

Any melee-based armor without a str bonus is, with rare exception, worthless. After a certain point added defense isn't even noticeable except under the most extreme situations, such as boss monsters, whereas the added strength is visible in higher hits. In addition, I avoid using barrows as much as possible since I hate having to think about repairing it. As soon as it hits 50%, I usually end up fixing it just for the fear that eventually it'll be at the lower end of that 50% and degrade to 25% at which point I won't even be able to finish a task. That's technically not true. At one point, Jagex was really behind dragon armor as being the apex armor. The entire reasoning behind having barrows armor degrade was to maintain the status of dragon armor (so despite being statistically inferior it would continue to hold some advantage). Frankly, Jagex completely mishandled dragon armor by delaying the release of the parts. Originally this was an effective tool for building hype, but over the years they've inundated us with viable alternatives which have served to devalue dragon armor. In terms of both looks and function, dragon has been completely outmoded by bandos gear (except the boots, of course). The situation is even worse with shields. I dread them bringing out the dragon kite, given the absurd number of powerful shield items with all sorts of bonuses these days. The only way that Jagex could truly make dragon a really viable armor would be to make it more readily accessible like it has with most dragon weapons which can be purchased for reasonable prices.

Combat as a percent of total XP - now with data and charts!
Atonisk replied to swampjedi's topic in General Discussion
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the formula seems out of wack at the higher levels. I'm a 122 with a 1749 ST that would be 73% combat. Also the formula, in general, simply falls flat in determing actual time spent. Some skills are 60k exp an hour, others are 30k exp an hour, and still others are reputably over 100k exp an hour. Since there's a pretty large disparity between exp and actual time spent. -
They've walked in naturally prior to this but usually they were non-aggro. I've carried a noseplug ever since jagex nerfed velds with that double-door.

Why do people keep talking about him getting unbanned with two black marks?
-
They're not all autoers, either. Sometimes it's just a high level afking his melees that has a second window open (which means you could be reporting them for the wrong thing). Besides, what's there ever to talk about?
-
They're illicit-looking banner ads for dating services. I have no clue how anybody would miss them although I know they also use more tasteful dating service ads but all they really advertise is dating services on that world select page (formerly also on the hs, but jagex removed ads from that page. Didn't make much sense to have ads there in the first place since members and free use the same page.).

Go ahead, report liberally. Spam Jagex even further so real valid complaints are buried under all garbage. Reporting doesn't do crap in most cases regardless of what's being reported. Three to five days later (if you're a member, you have to wait a bit longer for that automated response if you're free) you'll get a generic automated response. Sometimes they tell you it's an automated response, other times you can figure it out. Often it'll explain the benefits of becoming a member to a player who already has members. As for player mods, all they really do is complain about your use of language. Jagex mods? We never see them. Any real member of Jagex only appears following an update. They don't actually see what's going on in their own game.
