Raven6666's mini-guide to choosing the reward from BA.
User deangut has collected an extensive list of possible rewards from the Barbarian Assault gamble. These have been reposted in the Barbarian Assault Website Updates and Corrections topic http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=598440&start=9 If you have information that should be added to Tip.It's website guide, please post there as well. Locking. UPDATE: My friend tried to use your list, and got "not bad" twice. Then she saw: "You've got ..." and got 28 tuna potatoes, lol!!

Tip.It Times Presents: Jagex and Emergent Gameplay
**Disclaimer: the opinions expressed here are my own and do not represent Tip.It** Sir Gower, I hope you know that everyone here at Tip.It, including the Editor, absolutely loves RuneScape and is grateful to you for creating it. Not only do we play the game, but those of us on staff and Crew devote many additional hours to this site and forum to support others who play. We wouldn't do that if we didn't enjoy it a LOT! I don't think anyone intentionally writes articles that snipe at you, the providers of this fantastic game. It's too easy to complain all the time, be unfair, and never present the positives. However, I think an "opinion" piece is allowed to examine the side of things viewed as most predominant. An "essay" or "debate" might be more obligated to present both sides. ;) The article said It wasn't said that Jagex suppresses all emergent game play - it just *seems* from where we sit that "fun" things that turn up by accident are quickly shut down. The types of emergent game play you mention, like merchanting and note-shop-RCing ... well, they're not fun. They are serious. They aren't particularly delightful - though sometimes they generate a relieved "thank goodness!" Many people absolutely *loved* hopping around RS as a bunny when Castle Wars first opened - but on the other hand it never occurred to them to abuse it by going into the wildy where others couldn't see their armour. Some bad apples ruined it for all of us. :( Another weird one was using someone's scrying pool to speak at remote locations, such as Falador square. I guess it probably freaked people out, but I've not guessed why it was removed. The article also says I respect Jagex rules and the reasons behind them, and I think that's true of most people here. It is frustrating when we see good stuff out in the community that we are not "supposed" to use for the game. Obviously any website can insert bad stuff in our computers. The best way to resolve this would be for Jagex to provide a good and safe tool instead. I tried the RS Client when it was released, but it had no helpful features. It also forced me to use Internet Explorer which I detest with a passion. I was away from Runescape when the Knowledge Base was introduced. For years, fansites were the only sources for detailed information on RS. I assume Jagex preferred players to discover things on their own, but something about walking innocently into a cave and losing your hard-earned armour turns a lot of players off, lol. There was a huge demand for info, and the fansites met it when Jagex did not. I'm glad that Jagex finally instituted the KB, but ... it seemed an awfully long time coming, no offense. Obviously we love your game and want to continue enjoying it. As an engineer, I know you have schedules and priorities for your projects and it's impossible to do everything at once. (You outdid yourselves with Construction - it was truly *amazing*!) I just hope that sometimes when a need has become vastly widespread in the community, you can take positive action (by meeting the need). And that when an oddity comes up, you might find a way to keep the fun and only take out the unfair part. **Disclaimer: the opinions expressed here are my own and do not represent Tip.It**

Skill Guide: Construction
I'm very interested in blackie's post and I need forum user comments. I've been wondering about butlers versus carrying yourself for a long time. Unfortunately I am not as good with math as I once was, so I'm hoping one or more of you can check this and perhaps simplify it for me (cost per plank using butler versus cost of teleporting runes and/or jewelry while bringing them yourself.) Please PLEASE post if you can shed any light on this!! Thanks so much.

Picture Cropping Requirement Rule
The guide is listed in the Gallery sticky of tutorials etc. And I was advised that stuff about pics belongs in the Gallery, otherwise I would have put it in the AOW, lol. Glad you were able to stumble across the link.

Tip.It Times Presents: Rules is Rules
I totally agree with this. Using your birthday or your dog's name or your school or any other simple password is easy for real life "friends" to guess ... and then they're on your account and stripping it. :( I don't think there are that many "hackers" out on the internet who want your valuable full steel armour (lol) and are willing to mysteriously get into your computer without you downloading anything. Rather than trying to dry the tears of the squealing 10 year olds who claim that "it's not FAIR!" when they hit accept on a second trade screen and then change their minds (and I'm talking about a *reasonable* trade, not a con), Jagex might want to take a hint from the folks who run World of Warcraft, and simply tell players: TOUGH. (or to clean up a WoW player saying, "stinks to be you!") Sad but true, the world isn't always kind OR fair. Sorry - learn to cope.

No more update battles! Something needs to be done about it!
VERY good question. They can't, lol. I've thought about this for the staff boards, and maybe it would apply to the public board as well. What if each week the mods created an essentially blank sticky for "this week's update" (such as "January 1-5 2007 update")? Users could post the update text in that same topic, and if more than one person posted it wouldn't be the end of the world. (If you hit the "preview" button you would quickly see whether someone had already posted it, by the way.) Replies would all be in the same place, so no merging issues. A mod/admin could come along later and copy the update text into the top post, and rename the title to show the date and actual update title. Just a thought.

Mr. Nub's guide for attracting objects.
Although this isn't really a guide, any research/study of a new game item is extremely welcome. Those of us with an interest would like to see your raw data (each information point: what you got, where, and in how much time; preferably repeated many times to eliminate randomness) rather than just your conclusions. Please post lots of raw data in the future - thanks!

Mini Game: Trouble Brewing
Someone is working on fixing up this map for me (it has to be 30kb or less). I can't remember who, but somebody. ;)
-
Due to recent Spamfest
I cannot speak for any other type of topics in the forum, but I know from experience on another forum that a 10 pic limit really messes up a player made guide, such as for a quest. Just my two cents.

Mini Game: Trouble Brewing
Sorry, I already knew the 20 POE, just forgot to mention it . Guide has been updated with all confirmed info. Awaiting a reduced size map to the area from a Crewbie who's volunteered.

RuneScape Quest Dependency Diagram
we actually have a little thing in the works for quest dependencies. Am going to get this moved to the Player Made Guides forum for now.

Becoming p2p soon NEED ADVICE
Wanted to see what was missing from the P2P beginner guide ;). As far as clothes, I believe the magic skill guide addresses robes, and the ranged guide also presents ranged armour. The combat skill guide addresses the rest. Don't know about the new third age armour yet, but until last month the Barrows armour was considered pretty much the best in the game. It's discussed in the Barrows mini game guide (this game is high risk - if you die you lose all but 3 items etc). Barrows armour must be repaired because it deteriorates through use, and the repairs cost cash. However, you don't have the stats for it anyway. ;) As you seem to be mage-based, I suggest you check the Magic skill guide. It lists the requirements for getting each type of armour. Blue mystic at the store price of 235K for a full set isn't bad, and no quests are required (the white/gold or red/black are monster drops and cost more). As posted above, fletching is a good way to make money in P2P once you get your level up to yews and magics, though this takes quite a while. Killing dragons for hides and bones and selling them can be good. There are money making guides in the Archive of Wisdom and in the Player Made Guides forum that you might want to check out. If you read the related member guides and can't find what you are looking for, continue to use this forum to ask questions - our kind forum users will share their experience with you. Good luck and hope you enjoy your membership!

New Player-made guides sticky
Others have brought this up before, and now that we have the Player Made Guides forum, we do have the ideal place for it to happen. We will go ahead and make a sticky on the PMG forum. It will be on a trial basis so we can see how it goes. The guides solicited however will *only* be for that forum - no guarantees of going into the AOW nor on the website. Link: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=592728 Try it out and we'll see how it goes!

Hidden Updates General P2P Subforum
I'd proposed that this be moved, either to Website Updates (where the entire Crew could collect the info up top and moderate the topic to delete trash/repeats) or to Player Made Guides (where at least I could get ahold of it, lol). I spoke to The_Tallest1 about this and he plans to turn it over to someone after his next update. Hope that helps.

Quest stuff...
sequel quests always offer you a way to re-obtain the item you need (such as slug menace - comm orb), though it may not always be convenient (I dropped my Glarial's amulet literally FOUR HOURS before Roving Elves came out, lol). You can post a list of the specific quest stuff you had and people will usually tell you which things are/are not reobtainable. It's kinda silly that we like to keep useless stuff like the pendant of armadyl, and it really hurts our bank space, but ... I still have my Mark of Hazeel because it cannot be re-obtained, heh heh. Am going to ask a mod to move your topic to Help and Advice.

How to be a shark fisher...
Good organization on this guide. While you've given good tips on trading safety and Edge world 18, there is really no new info in this guide. You covered your topic well but need something meatier (wider scope) to make a real guide. I look forward to your next guide. Thanks! This will be locked in a few days.

Ban religion topics in OT - DONE
All "budding executives" used to be warned never to talk about two delicate topics at work (back before I was born, in the fifties when people were more concerned about good manners). These were politics and religion. The reason is because these are both such personal issues and usually not open to "persuasion" by others. In other words, people get upset and emotional when these issues are discussed. Ironically, the same people that dislike the conflict are quick to holler "censorship!" if such discussions are banned. (Guess they only want people to agree with their views, lol?) Another RS fansite forum completely prohibits these topics because they ALWAYS get out of hand ... and grumbling about the rule is unceasing. The traditional death knell of any internet discussion (this dates back to the late 1980's) is sounded when the words "Nazi" or "Hitler" are used. All rational thought has left the discussion by then. How often do these topics get down to that point? I support the ban. Not because I'm in favour of censorship - but because of the work it makes for moderators trying to decide who has gone too far, and the accusations and conflict that continually occur. Here's a lame idea: make one topic for each point of view, and only allow posts that agree with it, lmao. No cross-posting of the other point of view allowed.

!Pest control World-make a sticky!
I can't answer for the forums, but I think your suggestion is worth noting in our Pest Control minigame guide. I'll ask the guide editor to consider discussing the "original" PC world (79) and mention the private PC level-based "clans" that hop worlds to play (and why).

Player made guides- sub forum
Hrm. I won't argue that it's difficult to "find what you need" in the Player Made Guides (PMG) forum. I'd be delighted to consider suggestions on how to make this forum more usable - deleting all of the guides in it doesn't seem to be an option . Generally, the most effective Monster Killing guides are already in the Archive of Wisdom (and several of these are slated to be added to the website, like the recent Dagganoth Kings guide). Except for Barrows which requires strategy/planning (several guides are already included in the AOW), I don't see the need for most of the minigame and quest guides in the PMG forum. If a Tip.It website guide needs changes, users should post in the Website Updates forum topic so we can add them, not write a new guide :(. I've not been excited by any of the "money-making" guides I've read, but that may just be personal prejudice on my part. Other than "buy low, sell high" they don't seem useful. And any price data becomes obsolete as the market changes. That leaves Skill Guides, which is basically all that's left after my categorizing above ... I'm open to additional suggestions for the PMG forum.

Guide to Power Smelting and Smithing
Making cannonballs makes cash, but there are drawbacks (which is why people prefer buying them over making them, lol). One is that they take longer to make (you wait for it to "cool" or some such nonsense) ... it gets annoying quickly. The second is that Jagex nerfed the smithing xp for cannonballs. Instead of getting your usual 37+ xp, you get only 26+ xp per bar. Since the goal of this guide is to power levelling, meaning to quickly raise xp (rather than making cash), cannonballs wouldn't fit in with this guide. [However it's a good question. ;)]
