  1. This topic is for questions on Writing Guides for the Player Made Guides (and Archive of Wisdom) forums. The Guide Writing Tips topic sticky can be found Here. Please ONLY post questions about writing guides, OR information that should be added to the guide writing sticky. Please do not post here requesting that we review your guide. Please do not post "nice guide" and other such spam ... this topic is for serious inquiries only. If your post has disappeared - it did not belong in this topic. You can always PM a PMG Mod with any questions/concerns you may have. If you have a simple question that can be answered here, then please do so here. Thank you! Frequently Asked Questions Q. Where do I start if I want to make a Guide? A. You can start by reading the Guide Writing Tips sticky. This will provide great information to the beginner guide writer. Once then, you can post your guide in the Beginning Guides forum. This is where you can start on your guide and make it the best it can be. Q. How do I get my guide from Beginning Guides to General Guides? A. Once you believe your guide is up to par and is ready to be put into the General Guides forum, report the guide itself. There is an option for you to ask to Promote or Demote your guide. PMG Mods will then decide and will either promote or demote the guide or even leave it where it is at, depending on their decision. Remember to only ask for this movement if you believe your guide is completely ready to be added in with the other guides. Q. How come my guide hasn't been added to the Archive of Wisdom? A. The AOW is reserved for the most broad-reaching and challenging aspects of the game. Please do not ask for your guide to be added into the AOW. PMG Mods will choose which ones are deserving of the recognition. If you ask a Mod to move your guide into the AOW, it will be turned down. Q. But my guide has important new information for a skill/quest/mini game! A. Then please post in the Website Updates and Corrections forum under the appropriate guide topic - the Crew will be delighted to review your information and add it to the website guide if appropriate, giving credit to the first poster.
  2. Thanks for posting Centuramage! I tried Braindeath Rum on my character also. Attack -5 (71/76) Strength +3 (79/76) Defence -8 (68/76) Ranged -5 (65/70) Prayer -2 for 20 (I'd used most of my level 68 prayer previously) Magic -4 (71/75) Agility -8 (56/64) Herblore -5 (62/67) Mining +1 (74/73) After waiting for normal stats (except prayer which stayed 18), I tried it again. Same results as above, tho prayer base was now 18: Prayer -2 for 18 If someone can make heads or tails of this, by all means go for it!
  3. Please take a gander at the hidden updates sticky in gen P2P to see the "downside" of trying to maintain a sticky based on continuous input from users. Many who post don't even bother to read first to see if the info is already there. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to try - just requires a lot of maintenance and the person doing the work may lose interest.
  4. This is an interesting tip for the final fight. As someone who hasn't fought Jad I'm unable to comment on its usefulness, but some respected forum users already have. Normally this type of "tip" would be closed right away, as it does not fit into this forum's definitions for a player made guide. In this case I'll allow it for a few days. At the end of that time a forum regular can report it if it needs to be closed.
  5. I've posted a link to this topic in a Website Discussion thread about a possible farming tracker/map http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=614867 You may want to look there and/or post there.

  7. Lol, I have this problem and it seems to be completely random as to which topics change to "read" and which don't. I'm fairly certain it's somehow my fault, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
  8. "ditto" (lol) As far as the spam posts on H&A (a person making 80 posts in one night, which is easily seen by clicking their profile and posts by user), I report a couple of them so that the mods can be aware of this spammer. There is a slight delay for me to report more than one post, but I figure it's worth it. ;) Hopefully moderator action is then taken against the spammer (possibly resetting their post count) to teach them a lesson.
  9. I have to agree with you on that point, but I accept the management decision. I'm told that when post count was removed in the past, the screaming (and whining) was insufferable. If we are lucky, perhaps next year it can be considered again. In the meantime ... I'm just gonna enjoy the forums the way they are provided. :D
  10. Please PM me and tell me where you got this information - not only would I like to share it with others on the website, but I desperately need help with my farming!!
  11. This is a good time to use your ignore list. I once forgot about my ignore list, and let a kid bother me *SO* much (he was repeatedly using a derogatory term that is no longer allowed by the censor) that I reported him five times. Guess what happened? Jagex doesn't read my reports anymore. Someone who is steadily ignored will eventually go away - others who see you not responding will NOT think you are condoning it, but instead are SO mature (and confident) that you see the person is beneath you and not even worth acknowledging. You look COOL, honestly: captain of the football team or head cheerleader cool. It's a win-win situation for you. The ignore list is your friend.
  12. I recently received info from two very reliable researchers about this issue: Unfortunately this doesn't agree with borrring's friend's results, but ... I dunno. Jagex mods stated on more than one occasion that gauntlets did NOT affect monkfish ... of course that doesn't mean it's so. Adding to the confusion, an intensive study was conducted July 2006 (not long after monkfish were released). The results showed a very small but measurable improvement using gauntlets.
  13. As stated above, HighImpact1 has written a complete guide with pictures for this mini-quest: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=614665 which has been stickied in the Player Made Guides forum. Hope this helps out anyone needing information. Thanks HighImpact1!
  14. In the trees section, add to roots sentence that willow roots can be used at a loom to weave baskets (crafting guide). Yew roots are useful for making a potion (herblore). All tree roots can be spun on spinning wheels to make crossbow strings, or used to make compost/supercompost (sorry, I'm not sure which).
  15. Thanks for mapping these mines for fellow players! Please considering brightening the ore dots on the map so they can be seen better - that would help folks out a lot. Our Mapping Crewbies will provide a Tip.It map soon, but in the meantime I'm very grateful to you for making these!! Stickied!
  16. Website Poll suggestions do not belong here in the Forum Discussion board. The Website Updates forum topic for poll suggestions is here: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=470346
  17. In order to allow continued collection of gambling info and how it might relate to what the NPC says, I'm unlocking this topic. *However*, the author is charged with searching for other topics on the same subject, collecting info others have posted, and maintaining the info in a Website Updates forum Barbarian Assault topic post simultaneously until a correlation can be proven (or not). I remain anxious to learn if a relationship can be definitively be proven, and hope that players will post what the NPC says and their reward so we can find out for sure.
  18. want it now please?! can replace it with better stuff as it's made ...
  19. Hey forum users - next time you see an excellent guide like this, ESPECIALLY if it's the ONLY guide on the forum for a new release, PLEASE report it so we can get it into the Player Made Guides forum and/or stickied ASAP!!! Wish I'd found this Tuesday ... *sob* lol!
  20. ** DISCLAIMER: the opinions expressed here are my own and do not represent Tip.It!! ** Methinks that ye woulde taxxe the patience of a sainte. Considering how many years this has been AGAINST the Tip.It forum rules, I think you can wait a while. Just pretend that the rule is NOT under review and let them alone until they get back to you, eh? (Also consider that pestering the admins may not improve the chances of a positive ruling ... I'm not saying this matters, because our Admins are fair and just. I'm not a part of this decision-making process. But in my experience, parents and teachers don't generally react positively to this sort of behaviour.) Most of all, PLEASE keep this in mind: these are real people with real feelings, they are unpaid volunteers who give up their free time to help with this site for everyone's benefit, and they deserve courtesy, respect, and yes, most of all, your patience. ** DISCLAIMER: the opinions expressed here are my own and do not represent Tip.It!! **
  21. This time her gamble result was" "You've won" and she got a magic shortbow. :( For the record, here is the gist of Raven's guide:
  22. Gugge tried to use Raven's list, and clicked away from "not bad" twice. Then she saw: "You've got ..." and continued on ... and got 28 tuna potatoes, lol!!
  23. Moving from Website Discussion to Forum Discussion.
  24. This travel method is listed in the General "Getting Around Guide" on the website. It's a good reminder to other players - more people should learn about it and take advantage of it. Will leave your topic awhile before locking it. ;)
  25. ** DISCLAIMER: The Opinions Expressed Here Are My Own and Do NOT Represent Tip.It Management ** This was such an interesting question that I wanted to get involved a little bit. I hope you all realise that Admin The_Tallest1 isn't trying to make life difficult - he's trying to take positive action on an issue you've identified, and make TIF policy consistent. So try not to take it out on him, okay? ;) I'm rather surprised that the "Getting To Know You" topic was allowed, honestly. My only concern with it is that users have posted their home cities on that thread. (edit: oh, didn't realise it was new. well. see next paragraph.) All anyone needs to find you is your first and last name ... OR the name of your school and your photo .... a person can walk right up and say "Hi, pokemama, I saw your name on TIF! Can I buy you a hamburger at McDonald's?" With your city name and your age, only a handful of schools are likely, so again someone can find you fairly easily with a photo even without knowing your name! I personally would not identify my location any more specific than a state (I used to just say "the Southeast". Many folks I know say "New England", "the Northwest", etc.) I most definitely advise AGAINST giving your hometown name, ESPECIALLY a small town with only a few schools. A Huge nearby city might be ok (nobody is gonna find you if you live in a town that's a suburb of "Atlanta" or "an hour from Baltimore", lol.) Okay, now on to real life pictures. At Another Fansite, they allowed real life pictures. HOWEVER, there were several caveats: The first was that no personal information could show in the photo (one guy included his dog in a picture, with his dog's tag accidentally showing his home phone #, lol. He felt pretty stupid.) The second was the NO COMMENTS OF ANY SORT WERE ALLOWED, good or bad. Think about this. Would you really want someone commenting that you were ugly, pimply, scrawny, fat, stooped, disabled, [bleep]ty, had a bad hairstyle, wore too much makeup, or dressed funny? And it's not always flattering when someone tells a person that s/he is hawt, cexy, being drooled over, has a nice (body part), would-you-be-my-gf/bf, etc. SO. IF the Admins decide to revise the current policy (wherein Getting to Know You is allowed but RL pics are not), some changes and restraints would need to be enacted. 1. Don't post your city or any specific RL information other than your first name and your age. A state or major city in USA or Australia would be tolerable; province or major city in Canada; I dunno how generic places in the UK are identified but definitely not city (unless it's London or Edinburgh I s'pose); and so on for other countries. 2. NO COMMENTS on other people's pictures. AT ALL. PERIOD. Nice or Not Nice. So .... some serious self-restraint and policing is in order. These are my opinions and experience. Thanks for listening. ** DISCLAIMER: The Opinions Expressed Here Are My Own and Do NOT Represent Tip.It Management **
