  1. *DISCLAIMER: this post represents my own opinions and does not represent Tip.It staff nor management* This has been suggested before, but not implemented for whatever reason. This idea is really to benefit the people who ANSWER questions, making it easier for us to find the type of posts we want to answer. And it must be admitted that there will always be a certain number of noobs who will insist on posting in the wrong forum (illustrated by the number of H&A posts still made in general and P2P, which the mods are constantly having to lock.) I don't mind the skills and quests being in the same place. They fall within my expertise, heh heh. My annoyances are the money making and the stats/training questions. I don't care about those and I won't answer them, lol! There are other fansites that have separate "training/advice" forums, which contain the "here's my stats, what should I do" type questions that I personally can't answer. There are people out there who like to answer such questions. I frankly find the money making questions a complete nuisance, and if a separate forum was made I doubt many helpers would bother to respond. Which would bring the noobs back to the other forums. In summary, though, I'd like to see these forums split in some way, at least adding a training/advice forum/subforum. *DISCLAIMER: this post represents my own opinions and does not represent Tip.It staff nor management*
  2. The Staff did a lot of work setting up the Archive of Wisdom forum, but it has only existed for a little while. A large number of ideas, some practical and some impractical, accompanied its' creation, which was inspired by Leester's original idea. Evolving the forum will take some time, I'm sure. Staff and crew are putting their heads together over this issue now. Thanks for posting your opinion - we do appreciate the feedback. :D

I'd love to have new rock pictures for this guide. This most recent update seems to have obscured the vein colors worse than before, but I guess they haven't gotten many complaints on that yet (too busy messing up the run interface, lol?!) Try to capture as much of the exposed vein color as you can, so that it can be seen by our guide viewers. Thanks for offering to help!

Thanks very much for joining just to let us know about this problem - it's much appreciated! Since you are the second person to ask about this, I went in and tore the code apart. There was a bit of code that other browsers handle but Internet Explorer doesn't - this was keeping that section invisible. I regret the error and will get the revised version uploaded ASAP. In the meantime, Netscape and other browsers will display this section with no problem. Sorry for the inconvenience.

All of the "original" rocks from the lumby swamp mine (2 addy, 5 mith, 7 coal) have been moved *waaaaaayyy* west, closer to Draynor now than to Lumby. They are southwest of the Lumby cave entrance and the Lost City quest start, on the "west coast" of this area. Father Urhney's house is there, too. You can find them by walking directly west from the new mining area and fishing tutor. It's a long walk. Hope that helps until new maps can be made.

Lol, TBM, you are soooo competitive! ;) Hellbellz, I appreciate the suggestion and the map. A Crewbie has created some minimaps which will soon appear in our Beginner's Guide. You are probably right that we should add the tutors to the Skill Guides. We'll look at adding them in the next round of guide updates. You probably don't know it, but we cannot accept pictures (such as the one of the tutor that you posted) that are taken straight from the Jagex website. That is considered plagiarism (if you told us it was your own and we credited you for it), and would make us look bad. Please see the sticky at the top of this forum http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=534180 about this. All of the pictures on our website are taken in the game personally by our Crew and users. When capturing an NPC or item, that means cleaning all of the background off the picture pixel by pixel (a great deal of work!), and then making it a transparent GIF. Incidentally, any time anyone sees a picture submission in this forum that is really from Jagex's Knowledge Base or another fansite, please let us know using the report button. Thanks!
  7. Disclaimer: as Crew I work on the website and do not work on the Tip.It forum. In this post I'm sharing my experience as a former mod/admin on other boards. My opinions do not represent Tip.It administration or moderators. Drgn01, welcome to the Tip.It forums! It's great that you are asking questions and want to know how things work around here. You will see in many staff and moderator signatures the following slogan "See a problem post? Don't reply to it, report it!" A bunch of people telling someone not to double-post ends up being more spam than the original (and often accidental) double post. The first thing to do is look at the time stamps on the double posts. Often they are only a minute apart and contain the same info, indicating it was a little hiccup in the system and not intentional. However, if it's someone who is deliberately making separate posts [First post: "I love my cat." Next post: "I forgot to tell you I love my dog." Next post: "Also my turtle."], then by all means report that person. The problem is approaching SPAM proportions and the person needs to be corrected and/or warned by someone in authority before they flood the board, lol. As far as I know, the mods here do not have a problem with you reporting double posters. They will look at it, and either fix it and send a note to the offender or not - it is up to their judgement. Once you've reported it, you can feel that you've done your duty. When I'm online, usually there is a moderator online who will spot my report and correct it before an hour has gone by. If you don't see any mods on the "Who is online?" list, it may take a bit longer - and on the other hand, they may be online but hidden. ;) Multiple identical topics by one poster also sometimes occur - usually by accident, as is quickly revealed by the time stamp. It is helpful to report these posts (I usually point out it was accidental in my report) so the mods can clean it up. I'm sure you've noticed that our Report button is the exclamation point at the top right of each post. Click it to be taken to a page where you can explain the problem. In summary, it's best not to post scolding someone for breaking the rules - simply report the offending post and let the mods take care of it. ;) Disclaimer: as Crew I work on the website and do not work on the Tip.It forum. In this post I'm sharing my experience as a former mod/admin on other boards. My opinions do not represent Tip.It administration or moderators.

Moved from Website discussion to Help and Advice.
  9. I seem to encounter substantial numbers of Swedish and Norwegian players, myself. (I think we already have mods from both countries). Since Jagex placed a number of servers in Stockholm, I'd guess they've noted a trend there also.
  10. There is a separate key for the jail cell door. I think it is located in the warden's desk (in the building). Check Tip.It's Tourist Trap quest guide, it should help. ;)
  11. Hrm, this is a really interesting question, and if you solve it I hope you will tell me. We can add it to the Construction Guide and Table to help everyone! I'd suggest asking each person what room they were standing in when they built their garden (assuming it wasn't the original). I do know that the imp statue (really a fountain) is installed at a right angle from the doorway where you created the garden. (If you are at 6:30 of the clock, the imp faces 3:15.) Dunno why, it just is. I also know from user Umega (who submitted the info now listed in the Construction Guide/Table) that when you build a Skill Hall or Quest Hall, the stair bottom is at the door opposite where you built the room (so the stairway faces "backwards"). In order to make my Quest Hall stairs in the direction I wanted, I had to build two gardens to get to the proper side, lol!
  12. copy the link result that a search gives, or the link shown on the page that's higher in the hierarchy (!) than the desired page. So using your example, on the Quests page, copy the link pointing to the Quest Rewards. Each Knowledge Base page has an article number on the end of the real address. Very Handy. ;)
  13. joecool: "Nothing happens." I tried furnace with and without coal, tried using a mortar and pestle and a knife on it (just for kicks) - nada. Will wait until next quest in series, most likely.
  14. so ... how would we do that then? are they hosted somewhere, if not on the staff location then perhaps on a private server? please pm me with details, I'd love to have the pics.
  15. I must say that I agree with the other posters. I haven't been able to use the search function for at least a week. ALL my searches come back with no results, even if I've just LOOKED at the specific post that contains the unusual (and long) word I'm searching. Please PM me if you need more details or examples.
  16. Wow, thanks for the detailed inputs! Thanks for skipping the charter info - we have researched that and it will be posted on the website shortly. Will try to get the updates you've mentioned into a very quick release.
  17. Two new items: pokemama: Jagex has evidently changed the item qty in the KB, but not the xp (still shows 80). Need someone to check this one.
  18. Or maybe only The Feud quest is required. Thanks for posting, I feel a tiny bit better. ;)
  19. My personal apologies for the misinformation in our site guide (which I wrote). When the mini game was introduced, we were told that only Rune Mysteries was required to do the rune portion of the mini game. However, I've just checked Jagex's Knowledge Base (which wasn't available when the guide was written), and it states that all three quests (Rune Mysteries, Icthlarin's Little Helper and The Feud) are required to play the mini game. :( Try one or both of the other two quests. I recommend trying The Feud first, as it's the easiest, and it begins with Ali Morisane anyway - hopefully he did try to offer you that quest! If doing only that one allows you to play Ali's mini game, please PM me so that I can change the guide accordingly. (Click the PM button at the lower left area of this post.) Likewise, if you end up having to do both before he will offer you the game, let me know so I can fix the guide. We try to make our guides as accurate as possible, and feedback from players such as yourself helps us to do so. Again, I'm very sorry for the inconvenience.
  20. Thanks for starting this topic xbow. The Crew has been notified, so our calculator expert will be getting on it as soon as possible. ;)
  21. I really love this guide, and point people to it all the time. Archive of Wisdom, anyone?
  22. Sorry about your situation. But you headed down the wrong path the minute you offered to send him a checklist of things to do. Here's what I always say: "Check a fansite for a quest guide." Even if I knew someone well enough to send them something (and remember, that means *they* are getting *your* email address, too!), doing so would take up my time. Whereas someone who is too lazy to just look on a fansite isn't worth my effort, anyway (that's just my personal opinion, though). *If* they don't know any fansites, once upon a time I would give examples, saying "check a fansite, such as tip it or runehq". But no more. I now tell them to do a web search (and you can't say google or yahoo either!), as we all know that saying a fansite name can potentially get us into trouble. (The rule was originally intended to keep people from flooding general chat saying "check my new website http://www.tip.it!! over and over, but some people think you can't suggest a fansite, and who wants to lose their account over that?) Avoiding breaking the rules means a lot more silence on my part, too, so I know how frustrated you must be. It could be a lot worse, however. An adult I know was *joking* with a close friend about his own password (saying he was broke, and did the friend want to see for himself). A nearby pmod reported him, and ... HE LOST HIS ACCOUNT - APPEAL DENIED - PERM BANNED. He is devastated. Just like going through airport security in real life, joking about the rules is to be avoided.
  23. This is a great idea. However, I hope you haven't posted it in the Official forums yet. Because as far as I know, Jagex already does this. Jagex investigates every report they receive. If the report is legit, they send a message to you (like someone posted above). From what I have heard, your account recieves some type of "rating" as to how many of your reports are legit. If they get too many false reports from you, they stop sending you messages in response to your reports. But supposedly they are still checking on the people that you report.
  24. Farm east of Draynor Village, or for members, Farm north of East Ardougne.
