Help and Advice Board Split [Completely Re-Done Thread]
Be advised that this post contains my own opinions, and does not represent Tip.It. ROFL! Unfortunately, some users don't. And since the forum has included both for a long time, it would take a long time to train people to use a separate forum. I have to say that I agree with Rcty - I like to help people with quests, but when someone comes into a forum where people are asking about Prince Ali rescue, and wants to know what they should do with 100M (I've really seen threads like this), it's just ... well, it does get annoying. Some fansites have separate "quest help", "rate me" and "training advice" forums (and I haven't looked here, to be honest, so I don't know if Tip.It has the latter two). The recent separation of Blogs into their own forum was a really good idea, though I'm not sure it's unclogged the P2P forum much ;). Anyways, I'm only a lowly Crewbie and work the website, so I don't have any authority in this matter. I'm just throwing in my two cents, and my opinions are my own and do not represent Tip.It. The Forum Staff will evaluate your suggestion.

The Parlors in Houses.
A rich player I know used his parlour in an inventive way - he left out the chairs on purpose. With the fancy rug and all, it just looks like a posh entry hall (it's at his front door, of course). Nice effect.

Official Update topic 7/17/2006: Pyramid Plunder
EDIT 7/20: the new Tip.It guide has been posted on the website: http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=pyramid_plunder.htm If you have corrections to the website guide, please post them in the Website Updates and Corrections forum topic here: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=501539 Thanks to all the forum users who shared info to help the community! ---------------------------------------- Post discussion about the update here. FORUM DISCUSSION SUMMARY SO FAR: Simon Templeton at Agility Pyramid buys artifacts at fixed prices for each type, ranging from 50 to 1250. The sceptre can teleport you to any of the three pyramids: this one, the Agility pyramid, or the Ancient Magicks pyramid. Crewbies kwimbob and abomb67 report that the sceptre is tradeable. Any level Thief can get the sceptre; supposedly the odds are better for higher level thieves, but at least one 90+ has posted that he hasn't gotten one yet. ;) Consensus so far among players is that the treasure isn't all that great, the opinions on the sceptre are mixed (since some people can already get close to Ancient Magicks pyramid via Camulet), and the Thieving xp is pretty good - 3 to 5 times faster than thieving Master Farmers. Players report there seems to be a "bug" that sometimes makes all four doors dead ends. joecool280 reports that this only happens if you haven't looted all of the items in the room before you try the door? Our website guide still needs xp data for the two highest levels (7, and 8: for urns, sarcophagi and chests) - does anyone have the info? NEW: oldstyle has provided the sceptre stats: edit here are the stats if you weild it. +7 stab -1 slash +25 crush +10 mage 0 range Def. +2 stab +3 slash +1 crush +10 mage 0 range other bonus is offensive +32 str. Thanks to the users who have been posting helpful information, it's appreciated. Jagex Knowledge Base article is here: http://kbase.runescape.com/lang/en/aff/ ... le_id=2701 Here are the highlights (copyright Jagex, presented here for informational purposes only): My intended purpose in collecting discussion into one topic started by a Crewbie is so that meaningful and helpful information posted by users can be easily edited into the top post. Those that are new to the thread and the update can quickly find the most important information without sifting through pages of discussion. It's only meant to be helpful - please accept my personal apologies to anyone annoyed by it.

Remove post counts
First let me state that the opinions I post here are my own, and do not represent Tip.It.  This is pure genius, I wish more forums had this type of ability. It is a fundamental (and documented) part of forum etiquette to LURK (that means reading a forum and NOT posting) for several WEEKS before beginning to post. The first of these articles is over ten years old: http://www.newsreaders.com/guide/netiquette.html http://www.faqs.org/faqs/usenet/emily-postnews/part1/ Actually reading the forums helps newbies learn what has already been posted a million times, and where to look for answers to questions. This would hopefully prevent over-excited posts by newbies repeating the same clueless things over and over. ("Hello! I'm here! Look at me! Where do I find Runescape?") Knowing what has already been said helps users to recognize whether they actually have something new and valuable to say. (This is not directed at any of the posters here, who are obviously contributing to an intelligent debate. Just to be clear.) Back on topic, I voted to put post count in profiles (where others could click to the profile to see it, I hope). Just last week I found a user spamming up a board who had accumulated 148 posts in ONE DAY. Each of these posts skirted the edge of being "meaningful". They were actually on topic (not "me too"), but not adding anything useful. I reported her to the mods, of course. What other motivation could there be for this nonsense besides post count? Again let me repeat that the opinions I post here are my own, and do not represent Tip.It.

The Help & Advice Stickies
Thanks for starting this topic! I'd requested a similar yet smaller change from a Help and Advice forum moderator about a month ago, but he didn't feel he had the power to make these kinds of changes "without permission from the admins." What I'd suggested was just renaming the stickies so that the titles were simple and *easy to read*. Right now they are wordy, in the form of questions, and just don't get to the point right away. SIMPLE titles would make the subjects stand out so that newbies could find their desired subject right away. I also recommend the use of CAPS in these shorter titles as they'll gain attention a bit better. Old Sticky title: Don't know how much your items are worth? Look here! Suggested Sticky title: PRICE CHECKS Old Sticky title: Can't post a picture? Don't know where to upload? Look here! Suggested Sticky title: POSTING PICTURES - How to do it Old Sticky title: Got a keylogger? Want to feel safer on-line? Look here! Suggested Sticky title: KEYLOGGERS and VIRUSES - how to fix and feel safer online

Making your own watch and sextant?
Checking back - I had two different people check their Crafting Table 4 and they were both still able to make these items. Table 4 is the one which makes all of the dolls including the clockwork cat - it sounds like that is the one you have. Try some different options in the crafting table menu and see what happens? I don't know what else to tell you - they are made from a clockwork and ... a plank? I can't recall, but if you check the latest Tip.It Crafting Guide, they are included in a table right at the end. Let us know how it works out.

Making your own watch and sextant?
This information was added after I personally made both items at the home of another Crew member who had the level 4 table. I have the extra watches and sextants sitting in my bank. So it was legitimate info at the time. If the option to make them has been removed, please accept my apologies and assurance that we will get this information changed as soon as possible. Give us a bit to check it out, k? Thanks for asking.

help with regicide
heh. *don't* turn both valves at once. The left valve is to bleed pressure to keep furnace from blowing up. Put coal (click "add coal" words in middle), then watch the gauge on the right. You want it to go up to green by adding coal. At green, click valve on right to add tar. Stop adding coal at this point. If it goes below green, add coal. If it starts to go into red, click left valve for a moment to vent pressure, then when it falls below green click left valve to close it again. Hope this helps - you really just have to keep doing it to get a feel for it. You won't lose your tar - it keeps it in distiller for you, so it's just a matter of coal until you get there. Good luck.

some questions
Grinding construction - bring 26 oak planks and build and rebuild larder (start with regular planks and nails at first, of course). At level 20 you can hire servant to run log notes to bank and then logs to sawmill, though you have to pay them regularly and they don't carry much. Grinding farming: important thing here is to keep moving, make supercompost using pineapples, and if desired pay the farmers so your crops don't die (you get exp from harvesting). Keep tele'ing or walking in a circuit from one allotment to the next (there are 4 total), and do the same with hops patches when you are able, and bushes, too. Good luck.

how many trips to sawmill does demon butler take?
i think it's four complete circuits (4 to bank and 4 to sawmill, 8 total). I have an idea the others are the same, but I could be wrong ...

Dwarven Mines
This is *not* a stupid question. West of barbarian village is monastery. West of Monastery (and a teensy bit west-southwest) is a bridge over to a mountain. don't go up the mountain, instead go to nearby buildings which are south. there's a trap door that leads down into the mines. The ore shop is nearby; to get to pick shop go south, then west, then north. Good luck!

F2p - P2p..
you don't need a bunch of stuff (nor 500K) to be a member - level 3 can do well as a member. But you're asking what to get while you're waiting a week, which is smart. I definitely recommend finishing all of the F2P quests, to get them out of the way so you can do P2P quests if you want to access different places. A ghostspeak amulet from restless ghost quest is good for morytania ... there's others too. If you want to do Construction, you could spend some time accumulating planks, but that's pretty boring lol. Your stats rock, you should have a lot of fun as a member. Here's a rought draft of new members guide that will be posted on the website within the week (the final version is nicer tho lol): http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=317645 Hope it helps you out a bit.

What do you need to do to use the bank chest in lumy castle?
bank in lumby castle is in basement - only becomes visible after first part of Recipe for Disaster quest (which is quite easy and only requires Cook's Assistant I think).

Buying Shields
The new shields are part of Construction. See Tip.It's Construction 101 guide under Herald for info about this.

forging ring
I'm glad that you asked!! The Considerations section of Tip.It's Smithing guide has some info showing why iron the preferred ore for training smithing. Players at level 70 and above swear by iron, smelting and forging 10K iron ore at a stretch. Iron ore earns about 37.5 xp PER ORE used (with Ring of forging for 100% success) because it doesn't require the addition of any coal ore. Mining coal takes time - most high-end smithers can one-hit iron, so hardly any time is needed to get a lot of it. Power Smithers tend to make knives as another poster suggested, but profit is not their goal. The bottom line is that Power Smithers focus on iron. If money is your main concern, that's a different story. And TheBlazikenMaster is quite correct about the Blast Furnace - it does tend to turn out the undesired product when using iron if you're not careful with your coal, lol.

What to powermine....
A recent study done by forum user The_Tallest, over many many loads, and dropping all of the ore, showed that you get at least 23% more experience per hour mining granite than iron. The Decline seems to have gotten higher numbers. However, power miners definitely agree that granite is the way to go.

~~lock please, thanks for the help!~~
Pest Control - no quest requirement that I am aware of. Glory ammy - also no quest requirement. Dharoks - I think there are skill requirements to wield? Dunno, someone else will have to answer this one.

smithing
The method used by top P2P players is iron ores all the way. They usually do 10K at a time - I'm not nearly that hardcore and I get bored. See Tip.It's Smithing skill guides for some ideas. If you are P2P you can also look at goldsmithing gauntlets from the Family Crest quest (also covered in the Skill guide).
