  1. purepicori, you may have a valuable suggestion there. Several people have wondered where would be a good place to do this. I will look at adding something for this to the Player Made Guides forum. I'm going out of town for a week, but please PM me sometime after the 15th if I haven't responded here.
  2. Great that they posted in the KB. HOWEVER, ingame stat pics are still welcome. Even the KB makes mistakes or typos from time to time. ;)
  3. REMINDER: If you'd like to share your new clue and be credited in the Tip.It guide, go to the Treasure Trails (Website Updates forum) topic http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=222585 and post a JPG of your clue so we can get the exact wording to type in. It's okay if the pic is fuzzy, and any pic format will do. The first to provide a pic will be credited! (please check the first post in the topic, as the ones we've already received are listed there)
  4. Nice guide. Well organized, nice use of colour and pictures. As it is very specific to one particular task, it is suitable for the Player Made Guides forum. I was pleasantly startled by your banking technique for steel - I confess I'd never thought of that before! Withdrawing the correct number is always a nuisance. I'll have to try your method now!

  6. Dunno if bystanders are allowed to post, but I want to complement cadbury's egg for such a great idea, and the artists for their contributions. I enjoyed your creations. Two bits of c/c from an outsider: 1. I had no idea what cc meant (used in many cards on the first coupla pages) until someone posted a cc card halfway through. From it I assume it means "constructive criticism"? You may (or may not, lol) want to explain that in the first post if you want non-Gallery folks such as myself to visit and appreciate all of this great work. I could distinguish the other stuff that related specifically to graphics, but could not infer the meaning of cc from context clues :D. 2. The white font is *extremely* hard to read when it gets small, due in part to the nice background which fades to white in the corner. The black fonts contrasted much better and were easy to see (as a collectible card should be). I particularly liked misterxman's. Thanks for all the humour about forums and RS, I had some laughs!
  7. Many of you are familiar with the "Jaws" movie series (though it seriously went downhill after the first one, lol). What you may not know is that it was based on a true series of real events nearly a hundred years ago, that resulted in over 10 deaths (I think 16? Not sure.) Back around the turn of the 20th century, a great white shark kept attacking New Jersey beachgoers *very* close to shore. This was in the days before surfing, and in fact when many people didn't swim at all and only went to the shore to "paddle" and get relief from the summer heat. A shark's normal hunting grounds are much further out. At that time medical knowledge was of course in its infancy, so anyone with a limb nearly severed rapidly bled to death despite being "rescued". I believe only one or two victims survived. Documented in the newspaper accounts at the time, the shark ping-ponged along the Jersey shore for a few weeks, but each time the victim's body was recovered along with missing parts - so the shark was not feeding, and getting hungrier all the time. It finally turned in to the harbor between New Jersey and New York and swam up a deep fresh/brackish water stream (unheard-of for a shark) and killed 3 more at a swimming hole on the stream. One dead teen's severed foot and ankle was not found. Someone in New York put up a reward for killing the shark, and many set out to try their luck. The prize winners caught it in the harbor. It was not as huge as had been described by hysterical witnesses (it was no bigger than the one described above), so there were many doubts whether they'd found the right one. The identity of the shark was confirmed when they found inside its stomach ... the foot and ankle of a human adolescent. No further attacks occurred. Experts agree that the behavior of this shark was completely abnormal: hunting so close to shore, not feeding, but *especially* the part where it swam up a stream - sharks do not tolerate even brackish water (a mix of fresh and salt). They speculate that it had some type of physical illness (not unlike whales that beach themselves for no reason - except whales don't usually eat people, ahem.) The shark was a menace to itself and society (kind of like the vicious dog that attacks people over and over - the USA has a system that evaluates such dogs and is empowered to sentence them to death. An animal that's been domesticated for thousands of years isn't bred to have the urge to rip people to pieces. Of course a shark is not a dog.) The point is that this shark was ill, starving to death and killing people in the process. Finally, in Miami, Florida, every year they have a shark fishing competition to see who can catch a sizeable shark closest to shore. In all the years they'd done that (whenever it was that I read the story), they'd never caught one more than 6 feet long within a mile of land. On the US East Coast (which has an underwater continental shelf), it's just not NORMAL for a shark to be so close to shore, and it indicates there is something really WRONG with it. Is it kinder to leave it to die a slow and lingering death?
  8. Okay, here's a tip for all of you guys. You don't have to bring your pouches with you for the Abyssal Mage to repair them! That's right - this has been proven. Leave them in the bank so you don't lose them, and make your way to the center of the maze. Ask him about the pouches, he answers in his surly way, and when the dialog is finished it's done. When you check your bank they will all be fully repaired. Hope this helps! Another note for those who lost their pouches to a PKer - the Abyssal Mage will give you a free small pouch. It's not much, but it's a start.
  9. Fish where you found the fishing brother - cross the log over the river to the east side of the continent, then go all the way north. Hope this helps.
  10. Not sure exactly what this means, so I'm posting it here for one or two comments please?
  11. *prods diablo* Do spicy kebabs too. When the red hot spice first came out, you could ruin a perfectly good Ugthanki kebab (heals 19) by applying red hot spice to hit, dropping the healing down to +5 or even to a negative if it was dodgy. The worst kebab effect used to be -5 or -9. And the good kebab effects at that time were consistent values, not dependent on the player's levels. Would be good to see your stats (att/str/def/hp and combat) and get someone else to post, just to ensure that at least the HP values are same for all players and not stat dependent.
  12. thanks arcticrunite - that's the kind of detailed info I love to see! Although it's an easy quest, those seeking hints can find a very basic guide here: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=574956 Although he's evidently too modest to say it, Adamskii has also put together a transportation guide for the new Eagle's network here: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=574981
  13. I noticed different readings from my spottier cape as well: sometimes -4kg, sometimes -5kg depending on what else I had. Obviously fractional amounts are involved. So: we need someone with time on their hands to conduct some rigorous experiments to figure out how much the capes really reduce weight. This activity is not for the faint of heart. ;D
  14. I cannot answer for the moderators, but I wanted to acknowledge your question. Most posts that earn warnings are such that they must be removed from the public boards. Examples would be completely unacceptable content (links to keyloggers, offensive talk, etc), or to avoid inflammatory responses due to flaming. We don't remove posts that are simply "annoying", though sometimes moderators edit out some post content with a note from a moderator ("[Don't say XYZ in your posts. - Moderator ABC]") I understand your curiosity and it might be instructive. However, at this point the forum rules are the place to go for ideas of what is acceptable. I hope this sheds a bit of light on the policy, which incidentally is similar to the philosophy at other major RS fansites. Thanks for asking for dialog on this issue. p.s.: On a personal note, been meaning to tell you how much I like your new avatar. The old one made me think you were some sort of troll, lol.
  15. Wow, nice job! If you test it multiple times (say 5 or 10?) it will give a good idea about the randomness. When you are satisfied, feel free to post your data on the Hunter Updates topic http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=571638 to get it included in the guide - we are anxious to add good info like this!
  16. Started a Beginning Hunting Guide http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=571243 that takes you through the first couple of methods and animals. Hope it helps.
  17. I don't have super advice for how to get to level 30 in 3.5 hours (lol), but I've posted a "beginning hunting guide" in the player made guides forum http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=571243 No discussion is allowed in that forum, but please do feel free to post helpful concrete info that is *not* available in the Runescape Manual, to help other players. Credit will be given. This guide is a starting point for the eventual Tip.It website guide.
  18. Official Hunting Guide is on the website: http://tip.it/runescape/?page=hunting_guide.htm With a complete table of prey and levels. If you have changes or corrections to the official guide, please post concrete info in the Website Updates Forum topic: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=571638[/b] This topic is ONLY to help out people who are just beginning hunting. To begin, go to either Hunting Store. One is in Yanille just east of the pub. The other is in Nardah in the desert ... taking a flying carpet is recommended. Only two equipment items are useful for new Hunters: a bird snare and a noose wand. You might want to get 2-3 bird snares to have backups, but they are not really needed. The noose wand (for tracking) is wielded so you are unlikely to lose it. These items cost only a few gp, so don't buy from gouging players. You have two choices of prey at level 1 hunting: crimson swifts (birds) or polar kebbits. Polar kebbits are up in the snowy mountains north of Trollheim. The fairy ring code is DKS. Another way to the polar regions is fairy ring AJR which is right outside the Slayer cave. Run north from the cave and follow the cliff line (don't go up any paths). When you reach the sea there will be a thin path right against the cliff. Follow it to the hunting grounds. From here keep running north until you get to the steps. Climb the steps and begin hunting polar kebbits by inspecting the holes and following the tracks. It is believed that polar kebbits are faster xp than the crimson swifts - at least, there is less waiting around, lol. Crimson swifts are found on the beach south of the Chompy Bird Hunting area (the Feldip Hills). If you've unlocked the Fairy Rings network, you can teleport to a nearby ring using code AKS. Players who've done the One Small Favour quest can take the glider there. Walk south-southeast. Keep walking all the way south, then walk all the way east until you get to a sunny beach with palm trees. Once you get past the Ogres and Wolves of Feldip Hills, there are no attacking enemies in the hunting area (but watch for randoms, as there is a lot of waiting around in this skill). How to set a bird snare: Click on it in your inventory ("lay trap") and your character will set it up and walk a step away. Wait til the crimson bird lands on it. There are two possibilities. The bird may just set off the trap and fly away, in which case your trap will no longer have an "investigate" option and you will need to dismantle it and set it up again. Or, the bird may get flipped upside down and caught (option will change to "check"). Then simply click on your trap to get your experience, some bird meat, some red feathers and some bones. How to track using the noose wand (this is from me hunting the level 3 common kebbit towards Piscatoris; I haven't hunted polar kebbits yet): wield the noose wand. Click on a burrow (not a rabbit burrow or any other type) to investigate it. The game will display tracks on the ground leading away from the burrow. Follow the tracks to where they stop, then search the surrounding plants and bushes (not trees). The search may reveal nothing, in which case you need to go on and search the next plant. Sometimes the next nearest plant you need to search is squares away from where the tracks ended ... don't give up. A search may show that an animal has recently passed by - in that case, a new set of tracks will appear on the ground for you to follow to their end and search. Finally, if you've caught up with the animal, it will be in a bush. The search result will say that something is hiding in the bush. Right click "attack" bush and you will catch the kebbit. You will get the meat, bones, and fur. Polar kebbit (lvl 1 track, Trollweiss) = 30 xp (dotdotdot) Crimson swift (lvl 1 snare, Feldip) = 34 xp (all other xp data removed since it's in the real Hunting Guide on the website: http://tip.it/runescape/?page=hunting_guide.htm ) While stumbling around in the Feldip Hills I came across the Hunting Master (who will be selling the skill cape). She said there were four things affecting your hunting: the bait you use, your distance from the trap, what you wear, and how you smell. Per Jagex wearing the clothes appropriate to the area will improve your success at trapping. There are four area types: polar, jungle, woodlands, and desert. These are made (at Varrock fancy dress shop southeast of the rune store) from the fur of trackable kebbits located in each of these areas. 2 furs and 20 gp will get you a top or a bottom that matches the area where you got the fur (polar, common kebbit, weasel, and desert devil). If you've unlocked the Fairy Rings network, you can teleport to Piscatoris using code AKQ (according to user daigotsu). Desert area nearby fairy ring code is DLQ. Co-author: abomb67 Thanks to: breadmaker40, Chartres, daigotsu, dotdotdot, jessy87, msiGC, wishkahbanks Note: Please do not post questions or discussion here - use the P2P discussion topic for that http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=571207 No new content is solicited here now as the official guide has been posted on the website: http://tip.it/runescape/?page=hunting_guide.htm If you have changes or corrections to the official guide, please post concrete info in the Website Updates Forum topic: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=571638
  19. Suitable for the Player Made Guides forum. Am asking a moderator to move it now.
  20. I think this sums up the user reactions as well. If anyone is going to blame Kiara for selecting this article, you can blame me as well. I read it, and thought it was a good one. Here's what I said at the time: "Love Caisadi's article: a fresh idea with some good concepts." People who have never taken the risk of putting their ideas on paper and submitting them for publication really shouldn't be so quick to flame. It's just not nice. There is a real human being here who has shared his ideas and doesn't deserve the flamb̮̩̉̉ treatment. In the meantime, users should ask themselves why the Tip.It Times Editor remains anonymous. Could it be because he/she doesn't want their inbox filled with petty remarks such as the ones posted here? Think about it. Caisadi, I'm sorry some people were unable to appreciate your article. I enjoyed your point of view and the way you presented it. You are creative and I'd like to see more of your work.
  21. i'm pretty sure all you can do is wait for a mod to read this guide and add it on his own. ikraz66, your response is exactly right. 100_Shadows, your guide looks to be clear, well-written, and organized. Although you've written a quality guide, Tip.It already has a Farming Guide on the website. If you have changes or corrections that should be made to our website guide, please post in the Website Updates forum on the Farming topic, http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=297079 Your guide IS suitable to keep available in the Player Made Guides forum, where I'm sure it will help many people. Thanks for posting your guide for everyone!
  22. This forum (Website discussion) is for website concerns only. Moving to Forum updates and suggestions board.
  23. [hide=OBE] Sorry, lewis, the code for that ring is currently unknown. It CAN be used to get from the Haunted Woods back to Zanaris, but since we don't know the code we can't get there from Zanaris. All 3 digit combos were rigorously tested and are included in the various lists - this ring is not reached by any single one of them. Some people speculate that there may be a "combination" code to get there; remember that the quest required 4 different combos in a specific order to reach the queen. If anyone figures it out, a combo for this ring would be spectacular![/hide]
  24. I hope some of the people who originally posted pics in the guide will be able to provide them to keep this guide up to date for everyone's use.
