  1. Actually, I had just recently discovered that petert submitted his map *quite* some time ago, quite properly, in one of our Map corrections topics in the Temp Archive. Unfortunately, it was during a time when we were *terribly* short of Crew mappers and it didn't get picked up. :( Our website users would have been grateful to have such a map, and I deeply regret the circumstances. Thanks very much for contributing your map, and I will check with our Crew Leader to see what I can do about this, petert. EDIT 23 Jul 07: fixed
  2. Yeah I feel the same way. It sounds like you are the only one getting it (lol), and yet we all want to know what is different about your setup. Let us know!
  3. It's up to the forum gods what happens with this, but if you DID write a guide, can you please address the opposite problem? People put in terms that are too generic get a return of "nothing" because there are too many topics/posts (it refuses to bring you thousands, as far as I know?) Then they come here and say the search tool is broken. So if you'd like to address that as well, I'd like to see it. But keep in mind I have no say what happens to a guide to using the forums. ;)
  4. Whew! I can hardly keep up with you all! I've entered stuff through 12 July, plus Klan Kaos's key pictures just to keep them all coherent. m1cha34l's pics are next. Thanks to everyone!
  5. Do you think this was part of the trawler update? I've never crashed anywhere but Port Sarim, however I have not played since the update. Has this happened to anyone else, and could you possibly screenie as you climb ashore and take damage?
  6. It has always done this as far as I know - the streakiness and camera angle changes are meant to try to defeat bots. Which is the purpose of randoms in the first place.
  7. locking as this is already under discussion in another topic, where this author has also posted.
  8. You put effort into this, and that's good. Some choose the easy way, just sitting on the sidelines and saying things aren't working. (This is not a dig at anyone in this thread - it's just something I see happening in other topics at times.) It's much harder to suggest solutions and try to see how they could be implemented. You are actively participating and putting your ideas out here for people to see, and I really admire that. My difficulty is that nearly all of those titles could also be presented as a question (see green lines below), and I'm not sure that determines what type of topic it is. I mean, ALL of these things are about RS, it's not like they are talking about something else. And four of the topics marked for a "questionnaires" forum aren't phrased as questions. Quesitonnaires Non-questionnaires What have you learned in runescape today? The Future of Dragon Items - - - What is The Future of Dragon Items? You know you're old school when... < oh noes! not phrased as a question!> - - - - - How do you know if you're old school? What would you say to your level 3 self? I'm not trying to nit pick here, because I too tend to prefer the 'split' concept, personally. I'm just trying to say that there's no Occam's Razor presented here that simply, cleanly and clearly divides topics into the proposed categories ... at least, not so far. Hopefully we all can come up with something.
  9. Just to clarify eyehawk's remark - please keep the "drop shadow" (that shows a bit below and to the right of the edges) when you edit out the background. It gives the image a bit of depth and looks nicer. And yes the item edges themselves (and the drop shadow) should stay the same colour they are showing - no colour changes are desired except to wipe the bank or pack background. And thanks for submitting a trial pic first - a super idea which saves effort! Here's an example showing the R sigil with the drop shadow, so you can look and see the difference. Please excuse the neon pink background - I don't have a transparency program. So you can just make the pink transparent and post it back. ;) There is no need to post the pic links as well - I have to download the pics to my comp in order to upload them, so I'm just right-clicking and saving. (Dunno if there's a better way to do that, lol.) Finally, do feel free to submit as few or as many pics as you wish. The rough guideline of "5" was just to make sure you didn't do a ton of them and then come online to find that someone else has just posted the same ones. :o
  10. We normally do guide updates for announced changes, so this was already in our queue of draft guides. This update was made due to that. However, thanks for wanting to make sure we got it updated. ;)
  11. Without conclusive evidence that loot outside Puro Puro is different, I think we'd better leave it for now. I've caught all sorts of implings around RS, including Ninjas and Magpies, and not gotten any unusual loot, let alone better. hyjack01, I know the spawns were "adjusted" *cough*, but we don't seem to have any new info to add to the guide. :( Am moving this to the [Completed] forum - if anyone gets new data, please start a new topic. Thanks to all, we appreciate your help.
  12. You are correct as far as I know, but Jagex sometimes sneaks in and changes stuff on us when we aren't looking, lol. (Especially since the stats on these gloves aren't as good as barrows which cost 130K.) Confirmation pic, anyone?
  13. You get xp for stringing them?! I had no idea. We'll need some more testing - any volunteers?
  14. Thanks for posting the pic - pics are always TREMENDOUSLY helpful to us! Wanted to check back with you on this, because I've gotten this random in the past two days and mine still had the grey streakiness. I play in Low Detail, does that matter? Or has Jagex "unfixed" this? Or is there something else different about the picture that I am overlooking? Please advise so we can close this out.
  15. Skill cape needs to be added.
  16. Note to self: adding Smithing and Smelting Tutors (Varrock and Lumby) as well as Skill Cape. EDIT 25 July: all above included in draft.
  17. The problem I see is that this split is always going to be subjective, based on whether the reader sees the topic as trash or not, lol. Looking at Adam's list, the only thread I might find worthwhile is Items kept at Death. Hopefully that's got some real info in it. Discussing whether the sandwich lady is pure evil is just as silly as the rest of them, but that's only my personal opinion, lol. I'd like to ban everyone who posts "worst update 3v3r!" or "I love Jagex" in an update thread, too. Basically I'm only interested in people telling me stuff that they found in the game that I don't already know - because I want to put it on our website, lol! Bottom line - separation - subjective. You have to be REALLY CLEAR when defining what goes into a forum. I vote with Sith and others, give this a try for a while to see what is and isn't working.
  18. Obviously you are a long time user of these boards, but your statement seems unfair and disrespectful. :shame: All of the major RS fansites have had revenue difficulties. Runescape is an inexpensive (or free) game, and most players are kids without credit cards. Even if users were *willing* to subscribe, finding a way to do it would be difficult. Tip.It is the only site I've used that hasn't threatened to shut down or beseeched me for a handout in all the time I've been here. Lots of real world companies with highly paid CEOs and business advisors have had difficulty establishing a financially solvent web presence. The internet is still an unfamiliar environment for business. And most companies (which already generate real world revenue) don't have thousands of kids hitting up their bandwidth to the tune of 50,000 hits per day (just guessing) without ever making a "purchase". I think a "successful fansite" may be an oxymoron. Something starts out small, with a handful of devoted players sharing information with each other, simply out of love for the game. A small venture costs almost nothing, one could do it on a "free" website, lol. As more people find out about this trove of knowledge, they visit the site, bringing more devotees who also contribute their knowledge and drink at the fountain. But more visitors require more bandwidth (that means MONEY, you aren't allowed to have that kind of traffic on a "free" website), as well as server equipment. And then more people flock to the site. It snowballs. Somehow it reminds me of watching an (American) football quarterback get tackled by the ENTIRE opposing team, in one big pile. There are tons of small private fansites out there. Ask yourself why you don't use one of them? Well, one reason is usually the content here - guides, calculators, databases, etc. All of them took the effort of a LOT of people, and you aren't going to find that many volunteers at a small fansite. There also won't be as many people to trade with, to discuss things, to exchange ideas. I hear your logic, but if that really worked, why aren't you using a "private" fansite already, lol? Ironically, I quite enjoyed the Adbrite service. I found the little underlined words with popups trivial and easily ignored/avoided (since they were always on dumb words that were unrelated to anything interesting). And the banner ads at the top seemed more relevant - I actually clicked on several intriguing ones. In contrast, our previous run of the mill Google ads often made me ask "why on EARTH is this ad even HERE where nobody could POSSIBLY be interested?" (Things like "Install SQL on your Servers to satisfy your customers". Lol.) It's easy to sit on the sidelines and make commentary, but it's a lot harder when the expenses come out of your own pocket and you are chewing nails wondering if this month's income will even cover them. I for one appreciate the effort that the owners have spent to provide a useful site from the early days of Runescape when there was absolutely ZERO information available. They have done a great job, and sweated the responsibilities, and I'm grateful.
  19. I suspect there is something squirrelly going on in the forums at the moment, as I've heard of some other problems. Hopefully the topic will reappear. In the meantime, I'm on the case and have uploaded several posts worth of pictures. Please keep them coming, it's most appreciated!
  20. Your wording seems to match the Jagex Knowledge Base, and it makes more sense. The rough draft of this guide was written a long time ago, so it's likely that the Jagex names changed since then. Hopefully a crewbie can check into this and confirm.
  21. Aw, man, you guys ROCK! Wisse, the pics you cannot open are not the image type they claim to be. If you right-click on the image and try to save it, you will see that it is a jpg LABELED (disguised) as a png in order to get the database software to accept it. When I hit "save as", my computer says "Waking_sleep_vial.png.jpg" (It's also a 37x37 image, so on the items screen it's slightly distorted, it must be viewed as above before saving.) I think your software has detected that the real underlying format is JPG and that's why it's mad? I dunno, I'll leave it to you graphics experts, lol. I promise I will work harder on this over the weekend to get these uploaded and get you all credited - thanks SO much!
  22. Our map font is Cheboygan. :D However, I think that it might be better to leave the monster names and levels off the picture, since they are not shown with dots anyway (too many of them). Perhaps just show the portal weaknesses? I'm afraid I haven't played PC since people started posting about these weaknesses, so I don't know if/how that has been verified.
  23. SPAM POKEMON FOR THE WIN!! (sorry, just had to get that out of my system lol)
  24. Moved from Player made guides to Help and Advice.
  25. coolness! Do we know how often the others ask? I have a cook, guess I could try her (she's not speaking to me atm, hasn't been paid in 7 months lol)
