HP or Dell on Vista?
Yeah, I heard Home Premium is better than basic, even though its a little more expensive. So im thinking im going to get a dell, i found a couple dells that looked pretty nice. Anyway.. Ima get 2gigs of ram, if the comp already has like 512mb or 1gig of ram how much will it cost to upgrade to 2 gigs? Not as much as upgrading it from them. If you live in the United States you can check out the site http://www.newegg.com which has the cheapest prices around.

paint file error
60+ windows? What are you doing? How much ram do you have in your computer to run them all at the same time? hmm.. i want to test this.. i have 1.5 gigs of ram.. gonna open 60 empty notepad docs.. then 60 games of solitaire then 50 firefox tabs and see if i can run anything else.. (or see how close i can get) Anybody can open 60 notepad files because Notepad only uses < 10MBs of ram, but I'm sure he wouldn't have just notepad open. The thing is why would he have 60 programs open at the same time. Oh I just tried it, I had 60 empty notepad files open and as many times I could click tabs of IGoogle open in Firefox. I was well within my ram limits.

Day 4: The Future of Computing
The OLED is the coolest out of the bunch. :D I want one as soon as they are being sold in screens bigger than 40" Keep in mind on the Crytek engine is that those screenshots are pre-rendered and not real time so the game will not look that real. Granted it's going to have the best graphics around but wer'e not yet there that we can't tell the difference from reality and gaming.

Just how bad is an integrated graphics card anyway?
No offense, but this is a common uninformed stereotype. While integrated graphics cards do not outperform most daughter cards, this does not mean they are only for "basic PC use." On the contrary there are quite a few laptops that are designed for gamers in mind, and really can pack on the power, especially when you consider the fact that integration also means optimization, and removing entropy from the system. Many of these are designed for gamers who frequently move their computers (because they go to events and tournaments) and are very serious about the performance of their computers The gaming laptops do not have integrated graphics. They have a dedicated card. In laptops it may not be a dedicated card that you would find in a desktop but it is indeed a dedicated graphics chip.

Windows XP to be discontinued in early 2008
You can get by with using Vista with 1gb of ram for normal use. 2GB is suggested for any type of gaming, or high end programs such as photoshop ect.

HP or Dell on Vista?
Thats not legit then, you can only use it on 1 pc at a time. You did not pay for it, so it's not legit. Every computer you buy pre-built from a well known company has to pay for the operating system so it would be more than your prices.

HP or Dell on Vista?
$400? Is that including a case, power supply, optical drives ect.? Is that also including a legit copy of Vista Ultimate? That alone is $200 for an OEM copy.

HP or Dell on Vista?
thats what Im thinking. Vista IS a better operating system, and if you want to play any games ~ 1 year from now you will need it, as its the only operating system with dx10. if you buy xp, you will just end up with having to upgrade for about $100 a year or 2 down the road. Bottom line: get vista as far as hardware, dell's crash no more then HP's do, all of those claims stem from one bad part put in their computers a few years ago that caused many many problems. Both manufacturers use the exact same hardware, in most cases. They do? Ok, that might make my decison easier, im probably going to get the new comp next week! \ Here's one tip, don't get Vista Home Basic, it sucks. Get Home Premium.

mastermule52 have you ever tried to run a game on an integrated graphics card? It sucks big time, there is no way he would get playable frame rates on one. I would have to suggest the laptop with the dedicated GPU. The x1600 is still a decent graphics card and would be perfect for WoW (and other games).

What good things have happened to you recently?
Like you, I just got a good job too \ I'm working at a skate shop and get payed $9 and hour building skateboards all day, listening to good music, and watching the skate videos that are being played. It's awesome, but I wish I got payed more, but I can't expect much for only being 16.

HP or Dell on Vista?
What is with this forum bashing vista lately? It seems the bandwagon rolled by and everybody got on it but me. Most of these people have probaly not even tried Vista, they have just read bad things about it. I'm using it on my computer and I barely have any problems.

Graphics Cards
Here's the best AGP graphics card that is the fastest I could find for under $200. x1950pro http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814161070 7800GS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130274 I think the x1950pro is faster but you would need a second opinion on that.

where to update graphics card.
Maybe the Nvidia website? http://www.nvidia.com

Graphics Cards
Well if it's a prebuilt you can Google the model number and find the specs which should include the power supply. If not, you can open you computer case and there should be a label on the power supply (power supply usually located in the top left of a computer case).

Graphics Cards
We are going to need more information than that. What is your power supply? What graphics slot do you have? (AGP or PCI-express) Is that budget in American dollars?

Broadband usage limits... uh what?
Everything has a limit. They may say it's unlimited but if your taking away bandwidth from other customers they will disconnect you. They rather have 5 people using 20GBs a month than 1 person using 100GBs a month. Take Comcast for example, they advertise unlimited but there have been stories of people using 100GBs a month, repeatedly, and being disconnected from it. You may think your using tons of bandwidth, but your probably not. The way you use the internet is normal, it's the people that take advantage of unlimited and use so much there degrading other peoples speed, then there is a problem.

Have you seen any celeberties?
I have met Troy Brown from the Patriots at a ATM machine. He was a pretty cool guy, I talked to him a few minutes. :) Surprisingly, there were other people around him and nobody knew besides me it was Troy Brown.

PSP worth it?
You gotta love the homebrew :) . How is the N64 emulator doing? The last time I used the emulator was months ago when it was still at 10-15fps. Is it playable yet (25fps or over)?

A well known developer & his thoughts on the PS3
FAR more powerful, I think not.... The 360 and the Ps3 have pretty identical specs.are you kidding? do you just pull this stuff out of your [wagon]? So why we ask is the Ps3 more expensive? No reason what so ever... what makes it more expensive is the blu-ray 360, cheaper, better game support lmao, i'm on my 3rd 360 this yearand controllers that won't take someone's eyes out....explain? The specs are not identical but they produce they same results, or are in favor of the 360. If you don't want to believe facts, then leave. Take your fanboyism somewhere else.

Broadband usage limits... uh what?
Even if you stay on msn 24 hours a day for a whole month you will not use all of it. Your only basically sending text documents which are very small in size.

PSP worth it?
The PSP is pretty good but the games absolutely suck. If you want something for portable games, get a ds. The internet browser if really good, loads pages pretty fast, and is easy to use. The screen resolution is really good but to put movies on it you need a big memory card, which are expensive. If you are using this to just watch movies and listen to music, get an MP4 player, you can get more storage for cheaper. To add to the bad games part above, when there is a good game to play, the loading times are the longest I have ever seen on any portable or normal console ever. This does not include Rockstar, because the GTA games are really good which I recommend for the PSP.
