  1. The on screen keyboard probably will not help anything. Most newer keyloggers can detect what your typing even with the on screen keyboard. My suggestion is don't log in anywhere with a password until your computer is cleaned out. If you already have, change the password ASAP on another computer. Use Ad-aware 2007, and Spybot to clean it out. Make sure the definitions are up to date.
  2. No way. Thats the worst thing you can go by. The customer can be wrong. Oh they can be wrong, but if their wrong, you don't have a job anymore  .
  3. That version is very old the newest is 2.2.4. You could have searched and found the answer on their website a lot faster than posting it here. Website: http://httpd.apache.org/ To answer the question, yes it will.
  4. Just deal with the trial software and just uninstall it all when you get the laptop. It doesn't take longer than an hour.
  5. How do you mean the motherboard shield isn't right? I have a stupid question. Are you using the motherboard shield that came with the motherboard and not the one that came with the case? The one that comes with the case is useless.
  6. Defently go with the Intel core 2 duo. It's faster than the AMD counter part. The Intel model also has a better graphics card so you can play games. It also has Vista Ultimate and the AMD laptop has Premium (not a big difference).
  7. How is that a weak computer? Granted it's not super high end because it would be triple the price. The parts he picked out will run any game on high settings except for a few. You don't have to spend $5000 to have a good computer.
  8. That depends on what game you play to make it lag free. Both the laptops have onboard graphics which is not very good for game playing. The batery life would not be worth the price difference although you would want the most capacity possible so it will last through your classes at college. For $1500 (or even less) you could get a good laptop from Dell or HP via their website. Pick something with a core 2 duo (faster than the turion X2) with a dedicated graphics card and it will be a very good laptop. Try HP first because I was looking for a laptop for myself and they have some very good deals including cheap upgrade prices.
  9. Whats your max budget? What kind of games will you be playing? It will be hard (or near impossible) for around $1000 to find a laptop with a dedicated graphics card to play new games. Looking over the laptops the only thing I can really find a major difference is the battery capacity. The HP laptop at Bestbuy has a 12 cell battery while the other has a 6 cell. One major thing is to get 2GBs of ram.
  10. If he's using Safari, he probably has no C:\ ... If he DOES have a C:\ then his problem is that he's using a beta Safari for Windows browser, which explains his problem ... What's wrong with using a beta Safari on Windows? The bold explains it all.
  11. Link to the news article. http://www.startribune.com/462/story/1285137.html
  12. That happened to me. So I went to blockbusters, rented the same game, switched them, returned it and said it was scratched and wouldn't play and got a free rental It's people like you that make everything cost more.
  13. Most of that is speculation, nothing has been confirmed or by how much they are going to cut them. The E4300 is already really cheap so I doubt they will cut it much more. The computer suggested is perfect for you. I don't recommend onboard graphics, but if you don't game it will be fine. I have no idea if Intel graphics are fully compatible with Linux so look into that first. If not, I know Nvidia is better with Linux than ATI for drivers.
  14. Well if it's windows 98 the hard drive will be really small. So you probably will still have to buy one. The case will be fine because there all the same (except for looks). The power supply may work, check and see how many watts it is. You still have not answered the question, what are you using this computer for exactly? I know you said Linux but what programs?
  15. Well if the core 2 duo is in your price range, then get it. I highly doubt if you need a case, power supply and other stuff you can aford a core 2 duo on a $500 budget. I'll put something together but tell me first if your absolutly sure you will need a case and power supply because that can take a good amount of money away from the other parts.
  16. 5'11" and I'm 16. For anybody from Holland or any of those other countries, I hate you. Your all so tall :x .
  17. For you people that say Bill Gates has "only" given away a few billion and it's nothing to him are wrong. In a few years when he retires he is going to be focusing on donating most of his money (over 40billion) to his charity, The Gates Foundation which will help many people in Africa. If people say thats not charitable, then nothing is. Waren Buffet is also doing the same and giving most of his money to the Gates Foundation. No idea when but it was in the news a little while ago.
  18. I just realized something. If theres no flash support than how come Youtube can work? Does this mean the phone does have flash but is crippled for every other website besides Youtube?
  19. Well you bought an OEM hard drive which means it comes with just the hard drive (and sometimes a manual). The SATA cables should have came with the motherboard or atleast a few of them should. Thats if you got a retail motherboard and not an OEM.
  20. You could just search tomshardware forums :P . http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware ... 26122.html I personally have not used this guide, but it seems decent. When I had an AMD 64 I just figured it out myself, they are a lot easier than the Intel chips.
  21. Thats what I forgot in my main post. The health care system should be non profit. It's awful that they would rather have somebody die then pay for their treatment. Your grandfather is a woman? American health care is better controlled and more higher class than the UK one. No, unfortunately my grandfather pasted away a few months after that and left his wife, my grandmother to pay the bill.
  22. Well I just got done watching the movie Sicko last night and it got me thinking the United States health care has some serious flaws. They deny people coverage, and leave people with huge hospital bills. I know from somewhat personal experience when my grandfather has a stroke a couple years ago. It left my grandmother in huge debt and the insurance company only payed for half of it. Luckily her children (including my father) helped her out. Granted the movie over glorified the health care systems of Britain, France, and Canada a bit but they are still better than the US. The United States should have the same belief like them no matter who you are, how much money you make, you should have free health care. What are your guys opinions on this? If you personally live in a country with free health care, please tell me what you think about it.
  23. If you need any guides these are the ones I'm currently using now :) . 3GHz and still going. Overclocking a core 2 duo Overclocking a Core 2 Duo 2nd guide Safe temperatures for the Core 2 duo
  24. If you don't need a monitor, speakers, mouse, and a keyboard a computer for $500 would be buildable. Especially if you would use Linux and don't have to then pay for Windows. What will you be using this computer for? Since this will be a budget computer I recommend AMD because they currently have the price to performance ratio of budget CPUs.
  25. Jeez you guys, I barely ever wear jeans past 1 day :o . I have atleast 7 pairs of jeans so 1 pair a day for a week and then I wash them all :). They all fit in 1 wash too, laziness ftw.
