1. Haven't you read other peoples posts? The pentium 4 processor is dead, it sucked. Why would somebody spend money on one of them? If you meant a core 2 duo quad then that would be a good idea. What makes you think hes getting crappy parts for the rest of his system? If he can afford 8gbs of ram, he's not going to cheap out on the other parts. Why the hell would it be ddr1 ram? Drr1 sticks don't even come in 2gb sticks. In case you can't do the math, 2gb*4 memory slots=8gb. Your trying to make fun of someone and trying to show of how much you know about computers but you realy don't know too much. I suggest you read up on all the new hardware out. You may have known a lot during the p4 era but not now, everything has changed. Oh and who even said that Windows xp can't use over 3gbs is correct but only for the 32bit version. Same thing with Vista 32bit. It's a physical limitation of the 32bit code in the processor. The 64bit can use a lot more memory, like 100s of gbs or something outrageous. Vista then puts a software limitation of 24gbs in Ultimate. EDIT: Bartorom, there are dual core pentium 4s. They are called pentium D. They use the same exact core as the p4 with just 2 stuck together.
2. LOL. 4 gigs of RAM is still VERY unusual. 8 GB of RAM is just unheard of. LOL I just ordered 8 gigs of ram for a new computer I'm building. Overkill much? What did you have to buy? Two 4gb kits? Thats like $550 for just ram. I doubt, no, I guaranty you that you will never use that much ram unless you are really trying to, such as running two games at once.
3. Is that for just the motherboard and processor? You say you have sdram which you can not use with a new motherboard so you will also need to upgrade that. My recommendation is to spend $200 and upgrade the motherboard, cpu, ram and use the onboard graphics. That will put you over budget but that would be the wise upgrade. You can get a dual core cpu for like $60 which is much faster than a single core.
4. They will not work together. The motherboard is socket 775 and the processor is not. Go with socket 775 parts as it's newer. Another note is do not go with an open box motherboard. On newegg anything that is open box does not come with any cables, manuals, software ect. Just the motherboard. Get retail. Also what is your budget? The celeron chip and picked out is very old, outdated, and slow. Do you need a hard drive? operating system? cd/dvd drive? Case?
5. If your using boot camp, you are using windows. Games that are usualy on mac are games that run on opengl and not dx9/10. The reason for this is maxosx does not support dx and it does support opengl. Games like doom3 and quake4 are examples of this and are on macs.
6. Wrong: Read This Wrong: Both those games still use dx9 but have an operating system requirement of Vista. It's something Microsoft put in to sell more copies of Vista. If they were dx10 games, it would be a different story.
7. You have a \ on the dranor link :P . Wrong forum btw.
8. I have a 400mhz celeron that ran XP home decently well. Although it did have 512mb of ram. The operating systems are more ram dependent than anything.
9. I'm afraid that computer is too old to get a new processor. Unless you manage to find a pentium3 on ebay but those only go to 700mhz, maybe higher. It says your computer has an agp slot so you can upgrade the graphics but they are expensive and outdated compared to the new pci-express cards. It may not even be 8x agp and only 4x which would be a big bottleneck.
10. Games will still be XP compatible but will not run in dx10 mode. They will use dx9 which games will be supporting for many years. Look at dx7 which is still being supported in some games.
11. It looks really good. The game requirements will be a lot higher than the other cod games because of a new game engine. It's using the unreal engine now which has amazing graphics and dx10 :) . Thank god Treyach is not making this game. They were awful with cod3. Incase you didn't know treyach made cod3 and infantry ward made 1,2 and now 4.
12. It would be in the temp folder. Anything that is saved there is to play it once and then like in a week everything is deleted from there. Hence the name temp or temporary. If you want to save the video to a permanent location you would have to click "save target as" and then select a location.
13. It may be a memory pig but it's a lot faster than XP in many things, besides gaming but thats not Vista's fault. It's all the drivers that aren't mature. Don't bash Vista till you have tried it. Don't go by what other people say because they probably just jumped on the Vista bashing bandwagon.
14. Well if you want a gaming computer you should build it yourself and you will save a lot of money. If not, Alienware is the best for gaming but are vastly overpriced. What's you budget for this computer?
15. To add to my post above. Don't talk about all of that ram like SDram and such. It has no use with todays technology. If you are trying to appeal to the average user, confusing them about parts that will have no use to them is not the way to go. Just talk about DD2 ram and possibly DD3. DDR1 ram is also being phased out and somebody who is building a computer will not want to go with that or even find a new motherboard that supports it.
16. I went to someplace in New Jersey for a week earlier this summer. The waves on the beach are huge down there :) . The only thing that was bad was the care ride, like 6 hours from where I live. I also went to springfield to visit my aunt and uncle. Of course since I was down there I went to Six Flags. Super Man FTW. Next week I'm going to Hampton beach, nh. It has the best beach around and the night life is pretty good.

Get better picture that you took yourself and have a sign in it that says "this is it'sjustagame's car". That will prove you do own the car. Oh wait, he conveniently said that his sister took his camera and he does not have one anymore.
18. Ok I have some time on my hands and I found some some issues that you should really fix. *Why are you showing a motherboard with an ISA slot(the very bottom slot). Those went out years ago, if your showing people stuff like that they probably will get confused. *Show both the Intel socket 775 and the AMD socket AM2. Those are the only sockets that people are going to use nowadays to build a computer. *Show a motherboard with pci express slot. Again nobody is going to build a computer with an AGP graphics card since they are serverly outdated. The GHz war is over. It's not about gigahertz anymore. For a example a 1.8ghz core 2 duo and beat a 3ghx (and higher) pentiumD anyday. Also AMD processors do not clock as high but they are more efficient than the pentium4, which Intel has phased out so they should not even be included. The 3000+ would be more equivalent to the 3ghz p4. It's measured in megabytes, if it were in bytes all the ram would have a huge number. It may be in bytes in your OS or bios but when buying ram it's in MB. Wrong, you don't want people to buy the crappiest ram possible, it will be very slow and probably be a bottleneck. Suggest what some midrange ram timings and speed would be. Example: 5-5-5-12/15 at 667mhz would be midrange ram good for most average computers. *explain about the how the ATI model numbers work too. Not everybody will be buying Nvidia. * Raptor is not a hard drive brand. It's a name of a hard drive produced by Western Digital that is their "flagship" drive that spins at 10k rpms.

Thats because not everybody can get a new car from their parents and have to buy their own car with their own money. uh my parents pay for my college, I pay for my car. It's the deal I worked out with them 2 years back. If they pay for my schooling, I can use my bonds and money I had banked for a car. The question is where did you get all that money. If you worked hard for it, then you deserve it. If your parents gave you some [or a reasonable chunk] of the money over the years, then you still didn't pay for it. I worked illegally (under the table wages) from age 13 to 16. I worked part time with 3 jobs from age 16 to 19. You do the math. I also made a fair share doing things im not proud of (no, not selling drugs) Oooo what where you doing? Prostitution, human trafficking, robbery, in a gang, or all of the above? :P

21. Doing a quick search and this is your graphics card driver. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product ... 4&lang=eng Download the exe and install it. Check and see if anything changes. I also looked up the system requirements for Fable and it says 64mb shader capable graphics card which I don't know if that falls into this. Go here and select the game and check. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
22. I did not suggest to buy a new graphics card, I'm asking what yours is. Go to start > run > type "dxdiag" . Go to the display tab and it should be obvious after that.

24. You could give some more information. What operating system, graphics card, and other system specs. Have you tried updating your graphics card driver and installing the latest game patches?
25. Yes it would, about half the time. I know in Microsoft's programs (Word for example) will save your work if the computer crashes. Although it's not a guaranty that it will, so don't rely on it. Running the laptop will not drain the battery anymore than just having it lay there. The batteries will always lose charge as they get older and there is no way to avoid it. I would suggest that you just leave the battery in so nothing happens and forget about it. Your laptop will be long outdated by the time the battery can not be charged anymore. If you want to be a freak about having a battery last more than 5 years then don't use the battery and store it with 40% charge to prolong the life. Although then you can never use your laptop without the adapter and then the point of a laptop is no good.
