  1. My first thought would be the jumper setting on the drive. Even though you want the sata drive to be a slave, set the jumper to master. Then in the bios if you still want to use that IDE drive with your Windows installation then go into the boot menu (in the bios) and select that as the first boot device (of hard drives). Make sure the sata cable is in the correct sata slot. On my Gigabyte motherboard it has 2 sata ports that work in compatibility mode emulating IDE channels. The first port emulates the master ide plug on the cable and the second is for the slave ide plug. Your motherboard may be doing the same thing. Hope you understood what i'm trying to say :?
  2. Well doing a quick glance I don't see anything that noticeably sticks out that is nasty. I do notice you have a ton of unnecessary things starting up when you boot your computer. I suggest you go into msconfig and disable some. To get there type in "msconfig" into run (start>run) and click the start up tab. Have you tried scanning for spyware with ad-aware and spybot? Scan with them in safe mode.
  3. well, a computer not purley aimed on gaming, because it'd be a waste of money on graphics cards and other game.. related.. things.. :anxious: so, basically an all-rounder. That still doesn't help. If the computer is aimed at gaming, it can run everything else. If you want to game but don't want to spend money on a graphics card, then you can't game. Why I'm asking is if the most demanding game you play is Runescape you can get away with an onboard card, if not, and you play something like WoW or something else then you will need a dedicated graphics card.
  4. Do you have your browser set to allow cookies?
  5. What do you mean by light gaming? Light in playing Runescape or light in not needing to play games on high detail?
  6. What kind of monitor is it? LCD or CRT?
  7. Hijackthis is a program that tells about about everything running and that starts up on the computer. It can usually detect more than other programs but you need to remove the stuff manually. If you do need to run it, don't remove anything without somebody telling you to do so. Google is your friend.
  8. Well It looks like a genuine windows alert, but I have a strong feeling it's not. Boot into safe mode and do the following. To get there press f8 repeatedly while booting your computer. Choose "Safe mode with networking" Scan with Ad-aware and Spybot. Update the definitions first, then remove everything they find. If it's not gone after that, then post a hijackthis log from normal mode.
  9. My current one or the RX2950? You need to read more
  10. For Runescape? Any new laptop will run it fine. For ram, Runescape could run on 512MB but if your going with Vista, 2GB would be good for overall computer performance.
  11. I agree, it's not too good. It will still be better than what you have in there now if it's onboard. Don't expect miracles from his card but it should run wow on low settings.
  12. Do you really need that case? It's really expensive. Although I do have the Antec P182 which is the best case ever which is expensive. The power supply that comes with that case will not cut it will that graphics card and a quad core. Get something 650+ watts. Good brands would be Antec, OCZ, Enermax, and Thermitake. You could save some money by dropping down to the Q6600 thats only $300. It will overclock to 3.1 easily and it's a lot cheaper. I don't agree with the above poster that it's a waste because some program use them, such as encoding and new games will use them (crysis, Unreal Tournament). If you want to overclock it you will need a better heatsink. Don't be cheap on this. Your spending all this money for the best system and only going with XP? Get Vista Premium atleast.
  13. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813188017 This motherboard I have read some good reviews about. The Nvidia chipset is better than the midrange Intel chipsets, and it's cheaper.
  14. Custom firmware. 3.52 custom m33 firmware, plays homebrew, psx, psp isos all on 1 firmware.
  15. The illegalness can be questioned with this. Like other emulators if you own the game it's not illegal, and this is just another emulator. Before you even start trying, if you have above psp firmware 3.1 don't even try, there is no downgrader on newer firmware. If you do want to buy them legally you need a ps3.
  16. Everything looks compatible. The only thing you could do better is getting a motherboard with the nvidia 6 series chipset. I believe you can get one for cheaper than the board you picked out.
  17. Did you try the videos on your computer like the guy said above? It most likely is recording the audio but your camera just doesn't play it back with sound, which could be because of a setting or is not physically capable of doing it.
  18. Well from the sounds of it they all have integrated graphics which is a no no for gaming. Although if the most demanding game you plan to play is Counterstrike you should be fine. The guy above I have to disagree with on some points. The ram should not matter if it's DDR1 or 2. It will not make a huge difference and it's likely DDR2 anyway. It only matters how much there is, 2gbs would be a wise choice for gaming. The hard drive rpms should not matter. If you have enough ram then you shouldn't need to use swap from the page file while gaming. The 5400rpm drives are slower and will increase loading times over 7200rpm drive but not by that much. The 5400rpm drive also gives the laptop more battery life. My suggestion is to go with the laptop with 2gbs of ram. Especially if your running Vista Home Premium. Oh and spell Turion right
  19. No it wont. I am behind a router and I get my computer's ip. When I do that command I only get my computer's internal ip address.
  20. go to http://whatsmyip.org/ is the easiest way to do it.
  21. Well all my bookmarks are on my Windows installation of firefox and I would like the same ones to be on the Linux one as well. Is this possible? I did search on google but all I could find was importing to IE7, which doesn't help.
  22. Whats there to send? Answer the questions people asked. Do you plan to build it yourself or buy a prebuilt?
  23. They are a variant of the pentium4. They use the same exact dyes on the chips but just 2 of them. They later lowered the process to 65nm which raised clock speeds to make them faster, but still the same speed clock for clock. Pentium Dual
  24. You have to use that picture in more threads :) . They are a lot more people that should use Google before posting.
