  1. Since the last thread got wiped, I'll create a new one. What are your opinions on police? Would you become one, why? What are the ups and downs?
  2. Update: Cool underbanners you could put into your signature to get more users into helping maintain the tip.it logo. Update: Here are the proper brown and gray that should be used when filling in the brown blob and runestones: Tips & Tricks Thanks to will_holmes and Indy500fan for this handy trick: will_holmes wrote: If you want to draw a perfectly straight line, left click and hold where you want the line to start, and then right click. Ignore the selection list and let go of both buttons. Then left click again where you want to end the line. If you do this with a maximum thickness feather, and do plenty of lines side by side, you will cover an entire area neatly and efficiently. --- Hey there TIF! Some of you may remember about a year back when we had a 'TIF Off Topic Events Team', and were able to start out (and unfortunately not finish) a Tip.it Idol. Well, I am here to not restart the OT Events Team, but to bring up a new event. Some of you may of heard of Draw Ball, a site where a huge ball shaped graffiti wall is. This site has been around for years (and has probably been advertised here before), and I would like TIP.IT Forums to make its mark! http://www.drawball.com/playback.php As can be seen by this video of one year of Draw Ball, undertaking such an event has will be hard as we will have to deal with other users attempting to either draw over, or deface what we are doing, but hopefully, with enough users, we can accomplish this task. The Sign What shall we mark this ball with? Well, it has been discussed and the best course of action would be to try and draw the logo that is at the top of the forum's. Of course that picture itself is kinda complicated to do on its own, so Abelmisi has taken the honour of providing us with a 'template' of a simplified version. Now, earlier today, Misi drew out this on top of something I had already drawn to show that it isn't hard to draw. The problem with this though is that we plan the image to be much bigger then what he originally drew (I will give you an idea of the size in a moment). This the approximate area that I would like to draw the logo on. (as it is away from other people's work and doesn't have any naked females drawn there...). That image though, of course, is the full blown up thing. This is what it looks like zoomed in compared to zoomed out (keep in mind Misi drew the logo inside my flag (i took these pictures before he did though): Then Then Lastly That should give you an idea of how big this will have to be and how much ink we will need. How to Draw and Ink I mentioned ink before, and that is the core part of Draw Ball. On my fully zoomed in picture of the Canadian flag, you may of noticed some different tolls on the right side of the screen. This is how you choose the different colours and size of pens you want to use. Before you draw though, if you go and attempt to draw, you will be faced with a puzzle (probably created to keep little kids and basic spam bots out). Being resourceful, I managed to borrow this Gif from Encyclopedia Dramatica that shows you how to solve the puzzle easily. After finishing the puzzle, you may draw to your hearts content. That is, until you run out of ink. On the right side display you will also see a bottle of ink and a percentage. The percentage is of how much ink you have. The first time you access this site, you will receive 5% ink which gave me enough to draw the outline of that Canadian flag and give it a bit of colour (not all of it that you saw). Once the ink is gone, you must wait around until the ink refills itself. I have yet to find the actual refill rate, but I have learned that you do gain more ink back the more you write on the site. Alternatively, there is a way to cheat to get back more ink. Draw Ball works on a IP system. The first time you enter the site, it will log you IP address and create an account with which it knows how to give so much ink back and how much you have left. If you know how to reset your IP, it is possible to trick the system in to letting you have 5% more ink again. That is all for now, I hope that you have all found this an interesting idea for a TIF community event. Feel free to ask any questions here or PM me. (I will sticky this if enough people join in). Thank you Snipersas for the following guide: Drawing multiple times a day Since Drawball limits the amount of ink you get per day based on an IP system, every time you visit the site it compares your IP address to one stored in a log of all the people that have drawn that day. If your IP is on the list, you have to wait until the day is up before drawing again. Following are several simple ways to either change your IP address or make it look like you had a new one: 1. The first is simply pressing the reset button the router provided by your cable/DSL company. If they provide you with a "rolling" IP this will automatically clear it and assign you another IP address, allowing you to draw again immediately (note that this will not work with all people; some systems use static addresses). 2. If you use Dial up, simply disconnect and reconnect to the internet. Each time you connect your ISP assigns you a new IP. 3. The third option is to use proxy servers. Proxy servers are a system used for many things, from antonymous web browsing to blocking content. The property of proxies that is useful here though is their ability to mask your computer's IP address and make it look like (to the Drawball server) it is the proxy accessing the page, not your computer. The first thing you need to do is find a proxy server(s). Just Google "proxy server" and use those links. Once you have located a server, you need to set it up. On Firefox, go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Network>Settings and check the box "automatic proxy configuration URL". Then just copy the URL of the proxy into that box and you are good to go. On Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Internet Options>LAN Settings and check the "proxy server" box. Then just copy the URL of the website in there. Don't forget to uncheck the box once you have completed drawing for the day - many Proxies do not allow certain types of content, such as Java to be passed along their line. Using these methods should allow you to refresh your IP address to your heart's content; allowing you to draw many times per day. Update I would just like to make some small recommendations about the way you guys conduct yourselves: 1. Vandals will be counted as trolls. Their sole purpose of joining TIF was to try and antagonize us. Thus, please try to not respond if any vandal replies. 2. ANY (including known none-real TIF members, and real members) user posting and saying they are purposely destructing the logo is considered a troll, thus will be prosecuted as such. Please try to report these people. 3. Although it is good to give visual updates of the logo so that people know what kinda vandalism they have to deal with, please try to not post any pictures of the draw ball with body parts, or words that would be normally covered up by the censor. 4. Drawball is not serious business. I was even the one to start this whole business, and I feel no anger, nor any superiority over vandals when vandalism happens. I simply ignore it, and go on. Now I am not saying don't have competitive fun, but please realize you can be passionate about such things without getting too caught up in it. I believe that is all. Lionheart_0
  3. I don't know any people who sleepwalk but many people sleeptalk without realizing. My dad and my brother do that, it's cool to start whole conversations with the person who is asleep. I've also noticed people always tell the truth and a lot of useless information over all when they sleeptalk, it's like they are thinking out loud..
  4. I wouldn't recommend anybody view this picture at night while half asleep. Spooky.
  5. Anonymity allows people to express their true feelings, thoughts and act however they want without being punished. IMO that is the main reason why there are so many scammers and traitors playing mmorpgs and trolls on forums. In the forum discussions you have hours to make up a good, logical argument with the help of the search engines and in real life you have a maximum of 3 seconds to think of something. I never thought about the way I look and sound online, but I try to respond just like I would respond in real life, attempting not to flame and keep some things to myself, although that isn't always happening. Good poem by the way.
  6. Exactly the thoughts I've had when I saw the title.
  7. Kind of off topic but whoever created this didn't even bother proofreading what they wrote. http://il3dsm.gotdns.com/pictures/proofread.PNG What grinds my gears: People who walk VERY slowly and take up the whole sidewalk/hall so others have to walk behind them. Cars that attempt to ride into a puddle of water to splash you. Girls that say "I'm so ugly" just to hear "no you're not", constantly. Guys that try to "show off" their muscles by constantly talking about how many push ups they did yesterday, and how much they can bench press.
  8. You should be thankful you don't live in China. "Getting a job" is not an easy thing to do there. Shut the [bleep] up, seriously. Gold farmer sympathizers are just bleeding hearted fools who feel the need to fight for a cause or sympathize with another being in order to make themselves feel better. Blaming everyone or everything else is just failure to take responsibility for their own actions. OT: Good job Jagex even though your ends may not justify your means. Nice e-thug attitude. Care to explain?
  9. Netscape navigator is going to be discontinued. What? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirectX The reason why you've got a virus if you are sure it's from tip.it is because of the advertisements.

  12. Does anybody know any good website engines I could use? I'm running my own server so file placement is not a problem.
  13. You make it sound as if you are some kind of an expert with 20+ years of experience in that area.
  14. Connection will only work when the laptop is working. I have the same thing at home except it's COMPUTER->ROUTER1->SERVER->ROUTER2->INTERNET

  16. I remember I *knew* how to do it at 4, but I took so long I usually resorted to my parents doing it for me. So I'd say about 5 years old.
  17. It's accepted that 1/10 people are gay/lesbian/bisexual. With that said, 1/10 are the people who have told their secret, there are a lot more people that are hiding it, I'm sure. That means some of your mates are gay or bisexual and hiding it. Happy camping.
  18. Funny how people always exaggerate something, and it ends up sounding like half of tip.it forumers have a 6/8 pack and can bench a car. My first kiss was back in the kindergarten.
  19. Last year one guy said he's bisexual in front of the whole class and no one cared, I don't care if the person is bisexual or not either, and it's not like bisexuals try to hit on everything they see. I'll write a full response when I'll be back from school.
  20. I haven't read ALL the posts, only some, but have you tried downloading Ubuntu/Xubuntu and then booting up with live cd and scanning other partitions with an anti-virus? (From (X)ubuntu), I'm sure it won't magically fix xp since I know registry is completely destroyed, and system restore won't work either, but you CAN scan all your data and backup the files, then reinstall XP. P.S I'm in Toronto, so go buy a ticket, I'll fix your PC. j/k.
  21. Art Money is only client side, not server side. It's safe to say Gowers and their team made everything possible to make runescape unhackable.
  22. Well your stupid for only taking $20. I just charged $45 to fix an overheating job that was changing the thermal paste and cleaning the case of dust. If the person that asked me doesn't like what I charge, I simply say take it to Bestbuy and pay 3x more :) (btw they charge over $100 for what I did). 45$ for putting thermal paste on the processor/heatsink? LOL. To me, it sound like such a rip off, but it's probably because I know how to do it. Anyways, next time I'll know better.
  23. Whole thing, the blue-white case near the bed is my desktop with Linux and Windows XP on it (with the 19" widescreen), the one beside the wall in the one I have a server running on, although it's pentium II, it does fine, it has Linux on it and connected to the 17" CRT monitor on the right of the widescreen one. The black Dell desktop is the one my dad and I found today, it was fully functional, Pentium 4 and they didn't even remove the RD RAM (Which is very expensive and fast (correct me if I'm wrong) too, although no one uses them, but they DO have cool heatsinks :D), it's connected to a nice 19" Monitor with the flat screen which we also found, it only had focus off but my dad fixed it. Currently running Windows XP. Server close up. Everything from height Dell and the monitor we found. BTW the Pentium II and the CRT monitor one we found as well but it was too long ago so it isn't new anymore, as well as the Pentium III PC which is also fully operational in the kitchen, so in total I have 5 operational computers and 2 which are waiting for a "better day". Wanted to get rid of excitement that built up by posting here. Post you PCs, it want to see cruiser's desktop btw. ;)
  24. 70$ an hour?! ... And I only took 20$ for my virus removal-data backup job which took 3 hours.
