After going through Solomon's shop I have to say I'm not impressed with the selection. There are a couple items I might have bought if they actually looked good, mainly Gothic. Given my username, I've wanted something with a 'vampire' feel for a long time, and the Gothic clothing certainly doesn't deliver. If I were them, I'd broker some deals with other game companies to introduce some outfits from other games into RS. Assassin's creed outfit? I'd buy it. If they're really serious about making some serious money, I'd do a lot more pandering to people's other interests. Some of you will probably hate this idea, but I think you're already the kind of people that will quit over this update, or at least deride people for using it, so I don't see the difference.

Good on your Jagex. Now kindly scrap the idea of limited time squeal cosmetics and move all of that to Solomon's store. I'm fine with limited time cosmetics, as long as you aren't inducing people to gamble for them.

We may never definitively disprove the existence of gods, but that more we know, the smaller god seems to get. I think people a few hundred years ago would be really surprised by what we know today, and likewise I think it is quite likely that we would be very surprised how much about the universe will be known in a few hundred years. The theory of evolution has already cast serious doubt on the idea of special creation, which has lead many of the religious who are accepting of the theory to view god as more of a guider of creation than an architect. It's not unthinkable to me that future advances in understanding could cast doubt on even that concept.

It's unfortunate that is has to exist. I don't see many golf players going around disparaging people for not playing golf. If it were the case that the majority of the population played golf, and there was a large social pressure and sometimes outright coercion to play, I imagine the non golf players would get rather tired of it and rally together in solidarity both to avoid being singled out and also to combat the influence of golf players on public policy.

Not necessarily worse, but it's another thing that they said they definitely would never do that they've now done. The worst part is the pretense. I wish they'd just open a cash shop and get it over with, I'd be much happier with that than this gimmick. At least then you'd get what you pay for. As it is now, they try their absolute hardest to tempt you to buy spins for a specific limited time item that you'd have like a 1% chance of getting otherwise with the free spins, and you still have no guarantee of getting it. And they have the nerve to pretend this isn't RWT.

I thought they couldn't get any lower when they introduced limited time untradeable cosmetic sof rewards. I guess I was wrong. Are they intentionally trying to piss us off? Is this the biggest troll in history? Did the employees at Jagex turn so cynical toward their fanbase that they continually pump out these spectacularly stupid gimmicks and constantly insult our intelligence by pretending that this isn't a blatant betrayal of their long standing values?

Yeah that was really annoying at first, then that was compltely overshadowed by the massive lag I've been getting lately.

Our morals as a society are based on centuries of reasoned secular moral philosophy. It's no reason to not believe in a higher power, but it's sufficient reason for me to dismiss the bible as a moral authority. It's clearly antiquated for anything but basic moral principles, and even then you have to cherry pick.

You're right. And do you know what I believe in? The one thing I can know for sure exists: myself. And by association, humanity. I admit that given man's breathtaking capacity for stupidity it might be a bit of an irrational faith, but I will not waste what potential I may have in the belief that an invisible man will make it all better.

I was quoting that as more a statement of my own position. That said, though I don't agree with his wording on that issue, I can kind of see his point, especially given the extreme social pressures I've gotten from my family and friends. Personally I think it would suffice to keep religion out of public schools' curriculum. Creationism isn't science, period. If you want to teach your kid that, do it yourself, and ask that they be excused from the evolution studies.

I agree, there will always people who will believe in things without evidence. But the thing is, you won't find many people even among anti-theists let alone atheists that want to legislate religion away. As Christopher Hitchens once said, "My weapons are words." I wish more moderate theists would realize this. More often than not they will attack the atheist rather than the fundamentalist, even though the latter makes it quite clear that they want to legislate against things like gay marriage and teaching evolution, just to name two. I would also argue that idealistic goals are not inherently bad as long as you don't use underhanded tactics to get there. Aiming for perfection ensures that you're always striving to make progress. I think life would be pretty boring if everyone just kicked back and said "good enough."

It's coming out May 4 2013 last I heard :) I'm hoping Mandarin will be a better villain than the last two. I loved Iron Man himself in both movies, but neither villain really shined at all in my eyes.

If it evolves into wow then I think I'll just go play wow. The whole reason I hate games like wow is because of the absurdly complicated shit that goes into developing your character, which doesn't come down to playstyle like the devs promise so much as "you can seriously gimp your character if you don't know what you're doing". It has all the appeal of doing your taxes.
