  1. IE -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Security Tab. Set to "medium." Restart msn.
  2. Control Panel -> Folder Options. Click items as follows set to "double click to open an item."
  3. Control Panel -> Display -> Screen saver. Fiddle with the screensaver settings and more importantly the power saving settings. Also, look in the advanced settings for your graphics card to see if it has its own settings also. I suspect your problem may be caused by the system partially shutting down and then trying to do stuff. Also, check your scheduled tasks. If there's any of them that are set to the middle of the night or when your computer is idle, then disable them and see if the problem persists.
  4. Guild wars is AWESOME! I played it in the WPE and it was totally awesome then, so I bet it's fully sick now. I should really go buy it :-?
  5. Hoorah! I too have contacted the admins regarding this, although I never recieved a reply :-?
  6. Hannibal, I wrote that almost a week ago :P
  7. Mozilla users click here. Firefox users click here. Sage can be found here. Or of course you could get a standalone RSS reader. Just google for one.
  8. Keeping windows and IE up to date is extremely important for your computer's security. If you browsed the web with the first version of windows xp that came out with no updates then your pc would be instantly bombarded with attacks and riddled with spyware.
  9. As specified on the International Tennis Federation's website, the rules of tennis (direct link to pdf - 1.6 megs) state that: (Appendix I, part a. Found on Page 18, which is the 21st sheet of the document.)
  10. Appears to be fixed for me now :)
  11. Thanks very much mate, this is excellent. Oh btw but it's either temporarily down atm or you errored in the coding somewhere - "livebookmark failed to load" :(
  12. That looks awesome :D However it would be preferable if the news was in reverse (descending) order like most rss feeds :) Can I ask how the news is updated? Is it doen by a script or just whenever the owner of icefusion looks at the news on runescape.com and copies and pastes it?
  13. Rightio then mate, looks like new.net has attatched itself to your pc, so we'll have to see if we can do something about it :) I'm not sure if it'll help with the primary drive 1 not found thing, but it's in your best interest to try to fix this anyway. Btw please install a Firewall on your pc :!: This will help prevent future problems. There are plenty of freely avaliable ones out there. Open add/remove programs and see if there are any entries in there called 'New.net domains,' 'FirstLook' or 'QuickSearch Toolbar,' and if there are, uninstall them and restart your pc. Then download Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware SE. Run them, update them, and scan with them. Restart your pc. Then post another hijackthis log :)
  14. Rightio then Ben, first of all we've got to put hijackthis in its own directory so it'll create backups incase we mess something up:P Move the exe file to C:\Program Files\Hijackthis or similar. Now, what happens when you try to go to windowsupdate.com? :-? Okay it looks like you're using Flashget, which from a little googling appears to be a download manager, but it also contains spyware! I suggest uninstalling it via add/remove programs and finding yourself a new download manager. If you really do insist on using Flashget, it may be possible to delete the spyware without affecting it, but you should be aware that this is probably against flashget's terms of use... anyway... once you've moved hijackthis to it's new location run it and fix the following entries: R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O2 - BHO: HelperObject Class - {00C6482D-C502-44C8-8409-FCE54AD9C208} - C:\Program Files\TechSmith\SnagIt 7\SnagItBHO.dll (file missing) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1E1B2879-88FF-11D2-8D96-D7ACAC43337F} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\quknvdbc.dll__SpybotSDDisabled (file missing) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1E1B2879-88FF-11D2-8D96-D7ACAC87872F} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\msudp32.dll__SpybotSDDisabled (file missing) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - O2 - BHO: Body open - {CB4FDB5C-EBBD-D0C1-E121-7AD290312F47} - C:\PROGRA~1\SIGNMO~1\1grim.dll__SpybotSDDisabled (file missing) O3 - Toolbar: SnagIt - {8FF5E183-ABDE-46EB-B09E-D2AAB95CABE3} - C:\Program Files\TechSmith\SnagIt 7\SnagItIEAddin.dll (file missing) O18 - Filter: text/html - {950238FB-C706-4791-8674-4D429F85897E} - (no file) Then restart your pc and post a new log.
  15. Ensure that "Show Updates" is checked ;)
  16. Thanks very much merc, I was on the lookout for something to do this aswell :) Now we just have to persuade microsoft to make msn spaces standards compliant so they work in browsers other than IE :(
  17. What about if you try doing it through the windowsupdate website?
  18. I'm not sure paying for sigs/avatars/other features would be a suitible substitute for advertising, because most of the users are only in their early teens, and as such don't have access to credit cards etc. (except their parents'. I guess another possibility would be a paid version of tip.it with no ads :-? Cookies/login.
  19. Download Ad-Aware SE and Spybot S&D (google for them.) Run them and ensure they are up to date. Then resart your computer and repeatedly press f8 during startup. Select "safe mode" from the list and your computer will only start the required windows processes. Then run Ad-Aware and Spybot scans. Then restart your computer and do the f8 thing again, then select safe mode with networking, go to http://www.windowsupdate.com and download all the avaliable updates. Then post a new hijackthis log. Btw formatting won't really help, you need to PROTECT your pc, otherwise it'll just fill up with junk again.
  20. Clicked reply instead of new topic? As for the article: The software is in beta, and this is clearly stated. Any software that's in beta is of course still in development, and is not perfect. I'm sure google did not intend to make users' private information avaliable to others. Oh and they say everyone worships google? I don't think so. But I found thisinteresting though...
  21. Don't "get rid of anything" yet, just click "save log" and then copy and paste it to here :)
  22. Try Ad-Aware SE and Spybot S&D. If they don't work, post a Hijackthis log :) Google for links.
  23. I agree with blocking flash ads & popups, but blocking all ads completely is a little rude. Please see the "read more" link for the editor's review of adblockon UMO;) I added that a couple of weeks back :)
  24. This only applies to sites that aren't transferred over SSL, (such as intenet banking.) Those aren't cached, which is a good thing.
  25. 1) Yeah it should. Best bet is to stick with file-> save as older powerpoint version. 2) Erm yeah sure... the projector is just like a regular monitor except it's big.
